Just recently, Lady Gaga was on the news bearing the message of "celibacy".
http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1635862/20100412/story.jhtmlMore than half of her songs have sexually related lyrics
on the surface(Teeth, Monster, So Happy I Could Die, LoveGame). Of course, they have deeper meanings when Gaga gives explanations of them, but still, barely anybody actually researches it.
I know that it doesn't just stop at music with Lady Gaga, but millions of fans and people know Lady Gaga solely by her music and fashion alone. Do you guys think that it was a good choice by Gaga to promote celibacy and put it out there on the media? Even when she's famous for videos like Telephone and Love Game, which have a lot of sexually related scenes in them? Or do you guys think that she should have kept it to herself? Do you guys think it will backfire on her or if it will actually be heartfelt to people and changes will happen?
I personally believe that it's sweet of her and that her intentions are golden, but it should have been kept to .. I donno, Twitter? Even though it might've reached the news anyway, it still would have been pointed primarily to her fans only. I just don't think it's a good statement for her to put out there since not everybody does their research on who Gaga is, and will most likely perceive her as a hypocrite.
Just thought it would be an interesting discussion.
