Prologue: Giovanni, Return to Power
Giovanni sat impatiently at his desk, his head propped into his right hand, while his left hand beat its fingers anxiously on the desk. The more time passed, the more rapidly his fingers drummed against the hard wooden surface, when finally, his phone rang. Giovanni put the phone on speaker, his head still propped on his right arm. "Have you received the information yet?" Giovanni spoke in a loud, stern voice.
"Yes," a woman was on the other end of the line, "The police are investigating Viridian Gym as we speak, have you removed any evidence?"
"Of course I have! Now give me the information I care about, the gym means nothing to me!"
"Of course," the woman's voice was now shaky and nervous, "well, umm..." Giovanni cut in, ordering her to spit it out. "Well, it seems Mewtwo took flight, he's looking for a new home."
Giovanni sighed, then slammed his hands on the table and leaned back regretfully in his chair. "I guess I should have expected that. After everything that happened, Mewtwo doesn't trust humans one bit. Do you have any ideas on his whereabouts?"
"Unfortunately no. We were unable to track him. But common sense tells me that he's gone to a place where no human can find him."
There was a minutes silence, as Giovanni thought to himself. He then responded to his assistant, "It seems we'll have to give up on our plans in Kanto. The Kanto police are on to us, and our only weapon has abandoned us. Call the commanders and tell them to retreat back to the base."
The assistant gasped in astonishment, "then what does this mean? Is this the end of Team Rocket? It can't be master, after all our hard work!"
"Silence!" Giovanni shouted into the receiver, "of course this isn't the end of Team Rocket! It is, however, the end of Team Rocket's operations in Kanto."
"But master," the woman stuttered through the phone, "we're nearly bankrupt, surely we don't have enough money to begin operations in a new region. How will we afford to transport everything overseas?"
Giovanni laughed, "Whoever said our next target was overseas? As you know, my son, Silver, starts his journey tomorrow in a country called Johto" The assistant made a noise, showing that she had come to realization of what Giovanni was saying. "The region of Johto is on the same landmass as Kanto, therefore it would take little effort and money to transport everything there." Giovanni, now filling with confidence again, straightened his posture in his chair, giving him a more powerful appearance. "Now, I want you to give me a brief background check on Johto. Mainly, I want to know what kinds of unique and powerful pokemon exist there, as well as Johto technology which can help in controlling such pokemon."
"Will do, master," his assitant responded, and the hung up the phone. Giovanni sat in his chair, smirking as he thought of Team Rocket's return to power.
