--The Premise-- In an alternate timeline of Earth as we know it, a few rogue scientists of the Victorian Era have began study of the very atoms that comprise the world around us. They have developed rudimentary nuclear theory, and have applied their knowledge to the technology of the times. Crude nuclear reactors are now widely used is this alternate Europe of the nineteenth century. The reactors are used to heat large stores of water, making steam power the most viable option for modern society's growing needs. Since the power stations are so large, researchers found it best to install them in massive walking machines, piloted by a human operator. It would not be long until these machines were weaponized.... --The Rules-- People joining are more than welcome to set up the storyline for me. I'm no good at starting them, I just like expanding on what's been written already. So I'll make a villain to start with, and let the RP'ers do the rest! The story so far is like this: my villain, William, wants to take control of the Empire by raising support within the Usurpers of the community. Aishe and Zeke aim to stop him from toppling the balance of power, but no one really knows what their deepest motives are. Here's a character skeleton sample: Gaia Name: Silas Parrish Character Name: William Cruxely Character Appearance: Very tall and thin, with iron-grey hair, despite his youth. Wears rags worthy of peasants, but carries a solid gold pocketwatch, robbed from his murdered master. Has a long, thin nose and small, beady eyes that never stop shifting. His face is completely free of hair. Brief Character History: Was a watch-maker's apprentice before becoming exposed to the possibilities of Walker Machines. Built one of his own with a stolen reactor, and hopes to garner enough support to take over the Empire and rule it himself. Walker Machine Name: Brazen Gundam Description of Walker Machine: About 18 feet tall, constructed from heavy iron and accented with a brass clock gear motif. Currently mounts no weaponry, but strikes fear in the hearts of enemies walking only on legs of flesh. Affiliation: Usurpers (currently, the sides of the conflict are Civilian, Usurper, and Royal Guard) A few more rules: -The year is 1838. Keep the tech period-consistant. If you have futuristic tech on your machine, then provide an entertaining story explaining how. -There won't be any space battles. Just land, air, and sea. -Don't kill anyone's characters without their consent -Romance is fine, just don't say anything you be ashamed to show your mother. -Curse if you must, just star out the really bad ones. -If for some reason you have to stop posting, lemme know ahead of time so I can put this on pause, or gracefully kill your character. So there we go. Other than that, your imagination is your limitation. Be as ridiculous as you want, just be consistent! All are welcome!

--Characters-- Gaia Name: Ty Gwynnia Character Name: Raphael Xander Character Appearance: Stands at about 5'6". He has shaggy black hair ruffled up and pointing in random directions. Pale-ish skin, though he gets plenty of sun. Wears a open white button-down shirt with a white undershirt and sleeves rolled up to the elbows, a dark brown leather belt, black pants, and black shoes. Also wears black tinted spectacles, the rectangular kind, and a two sided black and white crescent moon necklace. His spectacles hide his true eye color, making them look grayish. He also has a Scottish accent. Brief Character History: A drifter, really. Takes contracts or requests for any person willing to pay. Fascinated with the new Walker machines. Managed to bribe a researcher into giving him one. Decided to help the public with tasks that they were too small or weak to do with his new Walker, but still wanted to be paid. Walker Machine Name: Fatum Gundam Description of Walker Machine: Stands at around 17 and a half feet tall. Made from the generic heavy iron and sports a carved moon shape on the front, arms on the side, and back of it. It's current weapon is a large and heavy church spire cross, which, *a-herm*, dropped from the top of a church being built. There's a silver spike on the top end of it for jabbing. Affiliation: Usurpers Other notes: Has connections, both with the underground and with the higher-ups on the safe side of the law. Also keeps a mysterious secret, pertaining to a small, still voice. ------------------------------------------------------------- Gaia Name: Silas Parrish Character Name: William Cruxely Character Appearance: Very tall and thin, with iron-grey hair, despite his youth. Affiliation: Usurper Other notes: Is quite skilled in stealth and his ability to perfectly mimic any voice he hears, or any picture or writing he sees. Tries to act serious and intimidating, but almost always fails in doing so, often making a fool of himself. ------------------------------------------------------------- Gaia Name: Mr_BlueCamo Character Name: Leon Conner Character Appearance: 6 feet tall, Bluish-Gray eyes, short black hair, slightly built muscle tone, clean shave face, sporting a royal blue military decorative jacket, plain white undershirt, black dress pants, black dress shoes. Brief Character History: Leon was a London alley kid that had tough times growing up without a dad, but with the help of his mother he was able to get through up until his teenage years. In his high school a representative for the Royal Army of England came in his class and talked about the Royal Army and that inspired him to become a Royal Guard. When he was finally the appropriate age to enter in the Royal Army it changed dramatically as they were now using walking machines that are like humans only mechanical and have weapons. So he went through the training to become the pilot of what they called a Gundam robot and he passed with flying colors and had a natural talent to using the Gundam and thus he became a Royal Guard and has became a decorated Guard thus has a high position in the Royal Guard. Walker Machine Name: BlueCamo Gundam Description of Walker Machine: About 20 feet tall, made out of finished iron metal, certain gears and belts make up the means for the Gundam to move, organized control panel and has a single eye window in the shape of a v, blue camo painted all over the body, weapons included were a sword made in the form of normal British soldier swords but made big for a Gundam for his left hand, a big version of the single shot rifle mounted in the Gundam's right arm and Leon makes a special higher caliber than normal for the gun with ammo boxes stored in the right arm, managed to fit a cannon in the middle of the chest and stays hidden until needed but only can be used once then has to be reloaded manually (last resort weapon). Affiliation: Royal Guard Other notes: Has a strong sense of duty and loyalty to the crown, but is a little naive. Will do anything, within the bounds of the law, to achieve his ends. ------------------------------------------------------------- Gaia Name: Silas Parrish Character Name: Aishe Viollca LuminitsaCharacter Appearance: A young Gypsy woman, appearing to be around the age of 25. She is slight of body, with exotic clothing and even more exotic manners. Possesses "the evil eye," and can use it for a variety of supernatural purposes. Also seems to possess a degree of supernatural strength. (exhibited by walking barefoot on glass with no apparent injury, bending the minds of others to her will, and stopping Walker Machines with but a touch.) Brief Character History: Her motives are unknown. Little is known of her past, but she has encountered most of the other characters at one time or another during her travels. She seems to hold knowledge of what lies beyond the veil of this world. Aishe has shown that she has met or at least known of at least three otherwordly people: Silas Parrish the fighter pilot, John Silenus the mobile suit mogul, and Tyler Heaton the biological weapons researcher. Her name is a Romani phrase meaning "The living violet light." Walker Machine Name: N/A Description of Walker Machine: N/A Affiliation: Civilian Other notes: Master of the Earth power of the Evil Eye, and is trying to prevent the usurpers from destroying the order of things, though she has no love for the Empire. Developed a small crush on her associate, Ezekiel. ------------------------------------------------------------- Gaia Name: Silas Parrish Character Name: Henry Ezekiel UnderwoodCharacter Appearance: Tall, and well-built. Speaks with an unashamed Southern accent. Has pale blue eyes--the mark of an excellent marksman-- and short black hair, which is normally concealed by a wide-brimmed hat. Has a square jaw, exhibits a clean-shaven face. Bears a scar in the form of the "evil eye" on his hand, due to a run-in with Aishe before allying himself with the mysterious woman. Brief Character History: An American gunslinger, in the employ of Aishe. Has been commissioned to seek out and stop William, if he proves to become a threat. Was given a Walker Machine by the Empire, in order to preserve its ideals and combat the growing issue of the Usurpers. Believes strongly in the ideals of American politician Abraham Lincoln. Often finds himself at odds with his fellow Caucasian southerners, due to his belief that slavery is an abomination before man and God. Walker Machine Name: Lincoln Gundam Description of Walker Machine: Appears short and stocky, is very heavily armored in the front, but not so much in the back, demonstrating Zeke's policy of "never run away." Carries two scaled-up version of Colt revolvers, and a hidden howitzer within the chest plating. Affiliation: Civilian Other notes: Very laid back, but always gets the job done. He's grown fond of the people of England, but misses his home in America. He has a dark struggle within him, and will play a large part in the final turn of events. ------------------------------------------------------------- Gaia Name: Mr_Bluecamo Character Name: Lt. Nathanial HartwellCharacter Appearance: Average height, with the physique of a man half his age. Sports mousy hair that is quickly graying. Also has a pencil-thin mustache. Brief Character History: High decorated, highly skilled. Sometimes appears stoic, but has a lot of love for his country. Doesn't quite like the direction the Empire has taken in recent years, but remains loyal to the crown. Walker Machine Name: Victoria Gundam Description of Walker Machine: The same build and armament as Conner's Walker Machine. This design is standard among Royal Guardsmen. Affiliation: Royal Guard ----------------------------------------------------------- Gaia Name: Ty Gwynnia Character Name: Erick Vineheld Character Appearance: Around 5'8". His bright red hair has grown out a few inches from where it had been cut military style. Bright sky blue eyes look often distanced. He has a slight stubble always present on his face, no matter what. Wears a crisp white shirt, fading black pants, dirty black shoes, and a royal blue militaristic mini cape across his shoulders, draping from high up on his left shoulder to his right elbow, dull pins holding on for dear life onto the fading color of the cloth. Brief Character History: Erick grew up with loving parents and a younger sister. He was brought up in a not so strict household, with 4 other siblings following his sister Amy in the following years. His father was in the Royal Guard, so Erick often watched him working on his Walker in their hangar-like area of the house in the back, a new machine quickly becoming popular. When he left his school early to help make ends meet, he decided to join the Royal Guard shortly after his father's unexpected death. He and his sister Amy stayed in their childhood home when their mother and other siblings moved to a new city. Erick and Amy are both close and trusting friends with a man they met during their respective duties, calling him X rather than his actual name. Walker Machine Name: Jay Gundam Description of Walker Machine: Only 16 foot, though it's slight in build and structure. It's reminiscent of the standard Royal Guardsmen Walker, but modified thanks to the mechanical Amy. It uses an enlarged and more deadly version of a morning star, the spikes a good 2 feet long. It also carries the usual one shot rifle that the other Royal Guard Walkers do, but with a modified barrel and a short bayonet on the end for jabbing. Affiliation: Royal Guard

Leon was finishing on repairs and improvements to his chest cannon weapon on his Gundam he stood back and looked at his Gundam in triumphant achievement. Since he was promoted they let him customize his Gundam to fit his style of fighting and looks and he did just that by putting as many weapons as he could and painting it in different shades of blue, black, gray, and some white to fit his design in his head. Right then the alarmed sounded in the base so dropping his tools he went to go see what the alert was about.

((Coolio.))
Sleeping during the day was one of Raphael's favorite activities. Besides eating, or reading, or lazing around. Birds were chirping outside while he in his Fatum Gundam Walker machine was dozing lightly. He'd done most of what he could to help the people without a Walker the other day, collecting his fee and spending it on practically useless items. A voice from below snapped him out of his daze, and he leaned over the edge of Fatum, peering through his tinted spectacles at a man in a uniform. "Um, sir? you're going to have to move this thing." Raphael stared at him for a bit longer before leaning back again, waving at the man friendily. He called up again, warning him a second time. "Ach, just leave me be, why don't'cha."

((lol sorry guys, i meant to send out a PM saying that this'n was open. I guess i forgot. sweatdrop ))
William made the last hard connection on the reactor's water lines, and listened to the satisfying whistle as the steam brought the bronze machine to life. He deftly climbed up its armor, like the street rat that he was. He plopped down in the somewhat uncomfortable controller's seat. The control system was complicated, but still simpler that the ones used by the Royal Guard. At the thought of the blue-clad pansies, he spat in disgust. "The time has come to rid the world of those tyrants. This machine shall blaze a new trail! I, William Baxter Cruxely II, shall stand tall upon the ruins of aahck--!" he began to say aloud. His monologue was cut off as an insecure water line ruptured, and the machine lost the fluid pressure holding it erect. He clung to the bars of his control deck with white knuckles as the heavy thing came crashing down. He grumbled under his breath as he pulled himself from the fallen machine, and set about repairing the damage.

Leon entered the war situation room and sat down to be briefed on what the situation was. The Commander walked in and started briefing about the situation saying that the Usurpers are getting bigger in number and are probably starting to plan their attack on England so we need to get prepared and run battle tests to keep our skills up. After much more details about the situation the Commander dismissed all and told us to go do training as soon as possible. Leon decided to go do training so he fired up his Gundam hearing the steam as it brought the machine to life and he piloted it to the training area and got out to see the commanding officer in charge of the training field. Leon groaned under his breath when he saw who the commanding officer of the training field was none other than General Canterbury who was a great fighter but also a pompous jacka** especially to Leon probably cause he was a decorative war hero. Leon approached the General and the General said "Well look who it is the great Leon who has come to tell me that he is rusty on his fighting skills even though he is the great Leon." Leon then said "Look General I don't want to start anything I just want to brush up on my techniques ok, so will you let me train with somebody?" The General said to him "Let you train! I will let you train but it will be with me!" Leon groaned under his breath again as the General said that cause instead of a training match it was going to turn out to be a 'who is the big macho guy around here fight' but Leon accepted and got in his Gundam to fight the General.

((No worries, buddy! Blue, you should work on your run-on sentences. *helpful hint right hurr*))
Raphael was almost peacfully alseep again in the warm afternoon air, until the voice of the man from before drifted up. And another's. What's with these people? Can't they just let me sleep for a bit? "What're ye two aboot down thare?" He called, leaning over again, his tone more of curiosity then annoyance. "Cannae ye let an honest fellow enjoy the day?" "Are you in charge of this...thing, Sir?" Raphael smiled amusedly, gesturing with a careless wave of his hand. "O' course Ah am. Ah'm innit, aren't Ah?" "Sir, do you have a permit for the thing?" "Dinnae call 'er a 'thing'. 'Er name is Fatum!" "I'm sorry?" "Yeah, ye better be." He said with a laugh, leaning back and propping his legs up and over the edge. "Sir, I'm still talking with you. You need to move it--Er, Fatum." "Aye, an' Ah'm done talking to yoo. Now, unless ye 'ave food or somethin' else important, lemme get some shuteye." "I'm going to have to call this in, Jerry. Make sure he doesn't do anything unless he's moving out of the way." Footsteps echoed away and Raphael gave a sigh, still smiling. "Ah, what daft fools thay are, huh Fatum?"

(( Hehe not great at writing like the pros but I make it through lol.)) The General made the first move as he dashed toward Leon and lunged his sword at him. Leon stepped to the side and grabbed the Gundam's arm and sent the Gundam tumbling across the field. The General stood up and fired his single shot arm gun at Leon who dodged it and swiped him with his sword bringing the General to the ground again. Frustrated, the General leg tripped Leon's Gundam then punched it while it was falling in midair and sent it flying across the field right into the spectator bleachers. Glad there was no one in those bleachers Leon thought as he got up and dashed toward the General bringing his sword down on the Gundam's head. The General blocked the strike from Leon then delivered a punch to the Gundam's chest and round housed kicked his head which sent the Gundam to the ground. "I cannot believe they made you a decorated hero to me you still are a pitiful soldier to my eyes as I have not seen you pull off better techniques than that!" said the General as he raised his sword to deliver the final blow to Leon's Gundam. Leon then activated his chest cannon and fired a cannonball into the Gundam's chest, he took advantage of the brake in the General's defense by slashing at his Gundam then delivering punches and kicks to his Gundam until he sent him down to the ground. With his Gundam heavily damaged from the cannonball and the blows from Leon's Gundam the General said "Alright you win this match Leon." Leon and the General got out of their Gundams and meet each other then the General said "Well Leon I guess I have to admit that you are a good soldier. But next time you will not be so lucky now get out of here while I fix my Gundam!" Leon followed his order and brought back his Gundam to its resting station he then sat beside his Gundam wondering what bad guys are threatening England now for them to be prepared for battle soon.

((Dun worry, you're learning. ^^))
Crashing sounds were then heard behind him, and Raphael climbed over the Fatum to look at what it was. Apparently, the Royal Guard had semi short tempers. He groaned at the whole of it all, running a hand through his shaggy/spikish black hair.

After what seemed to be an eternity of trial and error, William finally found the proper and available materials to repair and upgrade his Gundam. Its only weapon thus far was a Nordenfelt gun, used primarily as an anti-personnel measure. William did not yet have the means to fight Walker Machines, but he was honing his piloting skills every minute of every day, during the time he wasn't eating or sleeping. Once he was sure of his ability to operate the machine, he decided to test it. Walker Machines were not common around the place he once called home, so he expected to create quite a stir.
As William wandered into the village, the effect was immediate. Screaming women, cursing men, and howling animals littered the streets as the villagers abandoned their daily places in favor of higher ground--away from the massive walking reactor. William laughed sadistically, just as he did when he murdered his former master, Mr. Harland the watchmaker. Something caught his eye amidst the fervent movement. A lone Gypsy woman stood between him and the next street full of people. He had always heard that Gypsy women were rather ugly creatures...but this one was quite different. Her face was an epitome of fierce youth and untamed beauty. She wore a long, flowing red skirt that trailed father behind her than her own shadow. A white shawl hung loosely about her shoulders, over a very short shirt. Great metal bands rested around her neck, both wrists, and both ankles. A thin golden chain hung from her neck, swinging just below her naval as she walked; Her bare feet pressed against broken glass and sharp rocks in the street, unhindered. Her skin was an earthy tan, and William found the shine of her moist lips to be quite moving. Her eyes were harsh and calculating, and exhibited two different colors: The left was a very normal-looking olive, and the right was a blue so intense it bordered on bio-luminescence. She raised a delicate, yet strong hand and gestured accusingly at William.

((Man, that's a lot of details, lol.))
"Aye, now that's what I'd be callin' 'Overkill'..." Raphael called out, waving at the man operating the Walker thing. "Sir, you've been told twice to move this...thi--""Fatum." "--ng, correct?" He gave a smile. "Aye." "And you're the proper owner of it, correct?" "Aye, agin." "And furthermore---Wait...Is that...Is that a church spire?!" Raphael glanced lazily at the weapon the Fatum was holding in it's hands. It was a tall and heavy iron spire, a beautiful Victorian addition to any church top. Then he nodded slowly, acting like the man was a child. "Aye, what else do ya think it is? A piece a wood?" "How the hell would you manage to get something like that?!" Raphael let out a loud bark of laughter, fidgeting with his spectacles. "Well, obviously it fell off. Takin' somethin' like this, in plain sight, would just be idiotic, huh?" "I don't care. Just...move your machine out of here! It's not supposed to be in the streets anyway!"

((Sometimes, the creative juices flow without my command, in such a way that I find that I am unable to stop them. This time, I was assaulted by a mental image of a Gypsy woman, so I had to describe what I saw. I'm about to draw her, too. Along with a hundred other things just begging to be drawn. xd )) The woman spoke to William in English, with a barely detectable Romani accent. He was hypnotized; he could not divert his attention anywhere else. He drank in her beauty, and his heartrate began to increase. I must make her mine! he thought, as a cold sweat broke.
"Listen! Pay attention!" she shouted, when she knew his mind wandered. "Save your filthy thoughts for your own time! As I was saying: I know who you are, William Baxter Cruxely II! Murderer," she whispered, and smiled mischievously. William's heart skipped a beat at the mention of the word. He was certain that no one knew he killed his former master. The woman continued. "Come down out of that mechanical beast, and face me like the man you claim to be!" William did so, not because he felt obligated, be because he was anxious to prove he had no fear of the mysterious woman. When he was on the ground, he realized she was not great in stature, but was somehow still quite intimidating. "Look into my eyes," she demanded. He peered into the bright blue one involuntarily, and felt a shock penetrate his mind. Suddenly, the village was gone, and he floated in a void, with only the Gypsy's blue eye as light. "You, like the world we live in, are one of many. Behold!" The void was then filled with images of many strange new things. Firstly, there was an image of a noble-looking man dressed in some foreign military regalia, adorned with the image of clock gears. William saw the man at the helm of a strange flying machine, fighting alone against an army of airborne enemies. Second, he observed another man with who must have been his wife. He wore an off-looking diving suit, and seemed to control a huge white walker machine, fighting in between the stars themselves with several more machines like his, against battalions of sinister-looking black machines. Thirdly, William was shown one more man, holding a mob of monstrous creatures at bay, while standing atop a locomotive. He heard the Gypsy woman's voice again. "In others worlds, you exist in other forms. These men are you, William. They are you, as you might have been. But these men did their part to save the world!"
"That's what I'm trying to do!" William protested.
"No, your motives are entirely selfish, and you will fail because of it! I warn you, William Cruxely. If you wish to play hero, then do not seek out Raphael Xander." She waved her hand, and William could see the village again, now totally deserted. The Gypsy woman turned gracefully, and walked away, her wavy black hair flowing behind her. William was glad for the emptiness of the village, because there was no one around to see him fall to his knees. "Silas Parrish...John Silenus...Tyler Heaton...." he said aloud.
((Ty, I hope you don't catch a cold, running around barefoot like that. lol))

A Royal Guard came up to Leon and reported to him that and guy with spiky black hair and spectacles was standing around in a Gundam and would not move from the spot and asked Leon to take care of it. "Right away then" Leon said as he got into his Gundam and headed toward the town to deal with this guy that somehow has his own Gundam.
