I have shown a somewhat hard-core yaoi book to my dad, because I really trust him to not shout at me like my mom. He tells me to never let my younger sisters get a hold of the books, so that shows that he's perfectly fine with the books.
What about you guys? If you've shown a trusted person some yaoi, how did he or she react?

Sure. My dad is gay but he thinks that I'm crazy for liking it. My mom doesn't know but most of my siblings do. My sisters don't really like it. My best friend also doesn't like it. What ever.

I think I would die of embarrassment if they ever found out. . 3. That's why I don't purchase anything yaoi or shounen-ai related. It all stays a secret on my laptop.

My parents know i have it, so do my friends and brother. Needless to say mother and father don't approve, neither does my brother but my friends are fine with whatever. I'm 20 years old, i don't have to hide my stuff. Mom can't make me get rid of it so i don't care.

I wish I could tell my parents about it or at least my mother crying but they would never understand! But I hope one day I can tell someone, maybe my younger sister! I don´t like her now (she drives me crazy) but I think that when she grows up we will turn very good friends!

I have. My sisters all know I like yaoi. They even watch yaoi anime with me. biggrin
My mom knows as well, though she hasn't seen the yaoi manga/DJs I keep in the computer.

... Yeah, that's just the kind of conversation I want to have with my Christian parents... "Hi mom, hi dad, guess what? I like gay porn! Yeah, I have a whole stash of it in my room on by bookshelf mixed in with my regular manga to throw you off!" Sure, I may be turning 23 soon, but I still value what my parents think of me, and don't like to do anything that they particularly disapprove of... particularly my mother since our relationship is tedious enough as it is. So as far as I can see it, they don't need to know. Oh of course I would like to tell them and not have it a secret, it would be nice if my parents would just say, "well, that's our daughter and her interests..." but it doesn't work like that for me. My dad might, MIGHT be a little less harsh then my mom, but he's homophobic, and I just don't want to hear crap from him.

I was at a con and I went to drop something off at the car. My mom who stayed behind, was in the car reading my Gravi mangas. It was kinda awkward.

Well, now, while I don't read yaoi, per se, and have approximately one volume of BL (in German), to be honest, it's not like whether it would bother my parents/loved ones is high up my list. I can read whatever I want, considering that I've always done so, my parents have always considered me responsible enough to let me do so, and in any case, I'm legally able to buy anything I want.
But, as I said, in general I either have no interest in yaoi manga (I'm a slash kind of girl), or read it online. smile One of my friends finds it a bit icky, so I leave the topic lie, one I can chat about whatever with and once had a fluff doujin reading marathon with, but isn't a fangirl, and the other two... Pffffft. Nah.
Well, like I said, what others think of what I read (aside from reviewing books, and how good they are) is of no concern to me, and besides, my loved ones have accepted something much more important to me than that - they're comfortable with the fact that I'm bisexual.
I don't think anyone would be too shocked at my wanton slashing of random characters of various genders, just a bit baffled. lol
