Guardian of the Sky Well its sad i'm 20 and i'm posting to poeple oline about my issues. My biggest Issue is with God. He gave my grandfather cnacer. it almost killed my faith and I'm starting to go back but my grandfather is dead cause of that and I don't understand why. My parents have thought I was hopeless for a long time.... and i'm just at the bottem of my luck here. faith almost dead, finding myself hard for caring and I don't know what to do >.< Hmm there are some things that I want to say... first of all God did not give your Grandfather cancer. He may have allowed him to get it but he didn't give it to him. Remember that the rain falls on the just and the unjust. God allows people to go through rough times, but he doesn't outright give them those hard times. Secondly. I'm sorry that you are going through a hard time, but there is always a reason for it. You say that your faith is a struggle for you, and has been a struggle for you. Have you considered the possibility that the reason God has allowed you to go through this hardship is because he is looking to strengthen your faith? Many people will say that God does not give you more than what you can handle. I say yes he does. God will give you more than you can handle on your own so that you will look to him and beg of him to embrace you. If you have to be, be angry with God. Scream at him, tell him why you're angry, unlike man he's able to handle that. Allow God to know what you're feeling, allow God to know that you're angry. God can handle it.

i agree with everything friar thomas said and i just want to add something to it. i know from your point of view this is a horrible situation, but think about it from your grandfather's point of view. instead of going through several more years of old age and slowly wasting away, he got to skip all that and now he is (i'm assuming) in heaven, where he'll never have to suffer again.

Frair Thomas is right. God didn't give your grandfather cancer. People are very prone to get cancer in this country because it is everywhere [the junk food, the alcohol, the air pollution, the cell phone radiation, the cigarettes, etc.] Read this excerpt from Gotquestions.org:
"However, cancer—like all disease is a result of the curse of sin upon the world. In Genesis 3:17 we read, "cursed is the ground for thy sake." The word is better translated "earth." The earth has been cursed because of sin and all men die—we all return to dust and the method of death may be from disease that is a natural outcome of the curse upon the earth. Diseases are not "punishment." They are a result of living in a fallen world and upon a cursed earth, and believer and unbeliever alike develop cancer and other diseases that lead to death. We need to remember that in the life of the believer, God "works all things together for good" (Romans 8:28 ) and that includes cancer."
We live in a fallen world. If you can look at cancer through the believer's eyes, [cancer would be speedway to reuniting with God] you would see how things can be worked out for good. Of course I am not pro-cancer, I am just saying it shouldn't impair your faith and that a positive meaning can be found in it [like the meaning brownie eyes 91 found]. After all, even though things like cancer and AID's run rampant through this world, God isn't dead. God is alive. Yes indeed. He was there when he created this world, he was there when he came down as Jesus, and he is there right now, where he is to stay. God bless ya'. -Righteous Man biggrin

I completely agree with what the others have said on this topic but I have another view to throw out there. My mentor (,as I do not come from a religious family) had explained to me that sometime bad things do happen to us. Despite how bad they are God is ALWAYS in control of the situation and is watching after you. Have you considered that possibly that going through all of this would better equip you to help someone else who may possibly go through the same situation as you in the future. Afterall sympathising with a situation is nothing like being able to empathize with it. Maybe God has given you your 'problem' as a part of a greater scheme which hasn't yet been fully unveiled. Althoug it may sound crazy now but God KNOWS what he's doing and you just have to accept that.

I have to agree with what has been said on this matter. One way I look at issues like this(I'm going through a similar issue with my dad, he had a heart attack recently at the age of 51, now he has trouble working longer than a couple hrs). I believe this is just another test to help strengthen your faith and trust in God. ~John 16:33 KJV "These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world." Let not this tribulation trouble you for the advisary seeks to devour you and seperate you from the Lord, but as the text reads: "but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world."

John 9:3-4 (HCS) "Neither this man nor his parents sinned," Jesus answered. "This came about so that God's works might be displayed in him. We must do the works of Him who sent Me while it is day. Night is coming when no one can work." No matter what happens, God is in control. He has planned for this, and He will see you through it. Somehow, no matter how hard it is to see it, God will be glorified through this, and you have to have faith in Him. He will care for you and your family. Our God is abundant in mercy and grace, and He will not send us more than we can't handle with His help.

it's not gods fault. god did not give your grandfather cancer. the devil did. the devil is trying to drag you away from god. he is here to steal, kill and destroy. part of gods test to see if you will stay with him although its painful is leting the devil in your life a little hes testing you. you have to stay with god. your grandfather is with the lord now. he is happy. theres no more pain for him.

Ok I just skipped everyone's answer so you might the same thing that someone else had said. Anyway you have a reason to be angry but you can't be angry with God. God has a reason for everything. Maybe your grandfather died of cancer because God wanted you to get closer to him or something like that. Now I'm not saying that God gave him cancer, hell no, but I what I am saying is that everyone has to die at one point. When you die your family will most likely go through the same amount of grievance that you are going through now with your grandfather. You can pray to God and yes be angry about what had happened but you need to realize that what God does or lets happen is all part of his plan for you, your grandfather and everyone else. But the best comfort is God and family so if you need to let any anger out talk to one of them or better yet both.
