I've recently discovered that the name of religion is ecclectic pagan, but i always thought it would just be easier to tell people i'm wiccan since thats where the majority of my belief comes from. But since there is a differance technically between the two relgions is it wrong for me to say i'm a wiccan? If so what do I call myself? O.o cause if i just say pagan, well thats a classification for a religion not an actual religion itself...

I would just say you're pagan. More traditional Wiccans might be offended that you're calling yourself a Wiccan when you're not, and to save yourself some trouble just say "pagan." It is a religion in its own right, and if they need clarification you can go into how you're ecclectic and more of your personal beliefs.

I agree with Sam Oaken Willow, You should use the term pagan if you don't want to spell ecclectic all the time. I do, and there are people who will contest whether your "wiccan enough".

Calling yourself Wiccan may offend others, but I was in your shoes before. I am eclectic and I like it a lot more. I feel what ever you call your religion is right, and must feel right to you. You can call an apple a banana, but it is still an apple. Someone may get frustrated by calling it something it is not, but that is not your problem. It does not spoil the fruit or tarnish its skin by calling an apple a banana. So relax.
I call myself Pagan just to keep it short sweet and to the point, but when I explain it I am eclectic, even though I have to spell check the word every time I type it. I don't really like all of the Wicca traditions, and I have been mixing religions since before I knew anything about paganism. That is why I am eclectic and proud of it.

This pickled vegetable...Well, what kind of gods do you believe in? What cultures do you draw from? In what ways do you practice your brand of paganism?
You have to give us a bit more information before we can give you a term that best fits your practice. ... could kick your a** !!

I would normally say for you to refer to yourself in any way you feel comfortable. but Pagan is a good one since it's such a broad category, and will likely not offend others.
