Do you have it?
I"ve been playing Pokemon games throughout my childhood but I'm completely addicted. There's so much to do in this version!
I'm just putting a competitive party together for the league.
So far I know I want:
Lugia
Lapras
Typhlosion or Entei
Flygon
(probably) Ampharos
And I'm undecided on the last one. I have a Gengar but he's proved pretty frail and useless outside of hunting legendaries. I want something with steel, but I can't think of any good ones. Anyone know how to get Aron or any of his evolutions in this generation?
-Anyway, do you have Soul Silver or Heart Gold?
-Which version?
-Fan of the series?
-Tips, tricks, anything you want to add?

I still play pokemon but haven't played anything since the Advanced Generation. I'd love to get into the DS versions but funds are a little short right now.

It has gotten to be tiring, but I think they've taken it into somewhat of a good direction - but man do they market the hell out of it.

I don't have enough money for it crying , and to tell the truth I'm not sure I want it because most of the Pokemon games follow the same pattern. I used to really love the series, but I kinda quit after Leaf Green for that reason.
And anyone besides me think the show started to suck after they moved unto Hoenn and that the original 150 were the best?

Oh yes, I so do think it got terrible.
The pokemon hardly have any character.
Ash is typical.
They replace other characters.
They tried to replace Pikachu with Pichu and were met with ultimate fail (again marketing ploys).
And now instead of catch them all.. it's catching all the current, and waiting for the number to extend as its frickin' endless.
Speaking of catching them all, it's true you can in all one game now naws? Soulsilver I heard, but I wanted to have it verified.

i loved the original G&S, so i jumped at the chance to get these. im trying to reassemble my dram team from the original.

I'm loving Soul Silver. Am happy because I never played fire red/leaf green, but there are plenty of 1st gen pokemans in this version so I am getting massive nostalgia joy.
Is that an EKANS. It is! *nabs* I also have an electric sheep! Hilarity! And the pokewalker is cute.
There really is a lot to do in this version and I've only just started it. The sprites look great, the arrangement of the tools in the lower screen is a lot better than pearl/diamond. Much approval from me.

I got Pokemon Heart Gold, because the Johto storyline was my favorite. Plus the Pokemon are my faves as well. I couldn't pass this game up.
I'm right about the beat the Elite 4 right now. Epic game.

Sorry I haven't been posting much, even in my own thread.
Spring break has been busy. (And now it's almost over. D: )
I beat the game. All I need to do now is catch legendaries.
The only thing I need still is to kick my friend's a**. XD
Overall I think the game is really cool though. The Gold/Sivler/Crystal generation was my favorite and had the best legendaries in my opinion so it was a lot of fun to play through it.
Still, I don't know if I'll get the next Pokemon game.

Also, I may have accidentally washed my pokewalker... XD
I love the idea of companion pokemon. I love that they can all follow me, not just the "cute" ones like in the last generation. But I hate the sprite for the girl. Or even just her character design in general. Her head is huge!
@SuchSweetSadism: You can't get all of them. Some are exclusive to one version or the other and some pokemon from the later two games aren't in the game at all.
But you can catch a LOT more legendaries in this version. You can catch both Lugia and Ho-oh in either game, Mewtwo, the three legendary birds, the three legendary beasts, one of the two legendaries on the covers of Ruby and Sapphire, Latios or Latias, and Rayquaza. I think that's it.

Still, I don't know if I'll get the next Pokemon game. hey If you'd like I can help you out with beating your friend I know quite a bit about the weaknesses and how to counter them without using Legis or really rare pokemon ((my friend keeps using Legis so I have had to really learn all about how to defeat them inside and out as well as some of his really powerful Pokémon)) tell me what pokemon does your friend uses and what there lvls are and I can tell you how to counter back ^_^ if you like of course

brainnsoup You can only get him on Heart Gold. On Soul Silver you still see it so you can get it over the global trading thing, but it's online and it's a pain in the a**. They recently made it better, but it's still a pain and a lot of the pokemon are hacked.

I think that's it. well then I am soooooo getting Heart Gold first then, I really was killing myself when I lost my Fire Red game cause I hadn't transferred my Growlithe that I worked so hard on T^T I became depressed for a while cause of it I love Growlithe soooo much hey I got a Pidgey in my Platinum game actually, I was like OMFG when I found one and get this it's a LVL 50 O_O caught it with just a poke ball in one hit weird lol yeah I really hate the sprites for the characters they are sooooo freaking lame -_- I can't wait for a larger Sprite to come out without the huge head lol like the Sprites in Pokémon Ranger games ^_^ really you can get companion Pokémon O_O AWESOME!!!!!!!!!! never was able to play the older versions before Fire Red and Leaf Green crying O_O you can catch all the older legis?!?!?!?! OMG I AM REALLY GETTING HEART GOLD AND SOUL SILVER ((I got two DS's one DS lite and one DSi ^_^))

As for the actual game, the sprite for the male character isn't that bad. But I really believe that the female just gets more obnoxious with every new generation. Actually, the girl for Pearl/Diamond/Platinum wasn't so bad. She didn't have any hair sticking out of her head like giant horns. But for this one it's just awful.
Luckily when you battle and trade with friends or people online you show up as one of the types of trainers you see on the road.
And yeah, whatever pokemon is at the top of your party follows you around and you can interact with them. And they follow you everywhere. XD Lugia's so big it will disappear when you go inside anywhere though. And they've added little minigames that as far as I know have replaced the stupid beauty contests.
Also, Team Rocket is back, which is cool. I missed those guys. XD
Tell me if you end up getting the game. We can battle and trade.
