Not personally, though. I think they're very beautiful--- even if they are obviously air-brushed and/or photo-manipulated models like the rest of them. ._.

Perhaps I just feel betrayed. I mean, they're considered plus-sized models, yet they're very pathetic excuses for the title "plus-sized". I mean, COME ON! It's very rare that the models they use are even over a women's size 18! They're always using girls that are around a size 12 to a size 16 at max. It bothers me... a lot. Because they're taking realistically-sized girls and calling them "plus-sized". How can I not be bothered?

Plus, I kind of feel like it violates the title. Sure, plus-sized clothing starts anywhere from a size 12-14 or there about, so a girl in those sizes would be considered "plus-sized". But when I think about "plus-sized", I think about a curvy larger woman, perhaps over a size 18 or 20 at the least. If you ask me, seeing a size 14 model be considered "plus-sized" isn't helping me with my self-esteem much at all. If they're considering a 14 as big, then they must be considering someone like me (at a size 24) a moster. =/

A pox on them.

I understand how you feel. In all honesty, do we even need models? Does anyone actually wear the clothes they show off?

I personally think that this "thin is in" craze is getting out of hand. Why go through so much trouble to make yourself skinny just to appeal to rich snobs with nothing better to do? One should be happy, AND PROUD, of their body, regardless of what others say, not trying to change their appearences to appeal to nobodies.

I feel the same way. When I look at those adds it's like, " SHe is not plus sized!" I feel like, " If she's supposed to be bigger I must be huge," and I'm only a size 18-20. I think it's ridiculous. I'd love to see a beautiful woman that was like a size 26-28 modeling. Or even, what about those stores and magazines that go up to a size 50. How do you think those women feel? What the heck does someone that's a 50 even look like? We've never seen anyone over a size 24 unless it's on some show where people pity them for being 500lbs. stare Ok I've turned this into a rant, sorry. sweatdrop

People wear the clothes that the models wear... at least, for places like Lane Bryant and whatnot. >.>

The models just show off the clothes, but of course they want the models to be appealing to the eye as well. Apparently, a woman who's around 180-230 pounds or more isn't appealing to the eyes of most people--- which is VERY pathetic.

It's also very hard for people to accept themselves when others don't accept them. Sure, it's a huge bonus if you're able to do so, but it's very hard to overcome. I try to be proud of the way I am, though I'm not 100% happy with myself. I feel like I could use some improvement with my size, simply to be more acceptable. Now, that's not saying that I want to be at a size 6 (especially since the smallest size I can get down to would probably be a 14... maybe even a 12, anything less than that is nearly impossible for my body). I want to be big, but I also want to be acceptable, so I've decided that I'd be satisfied at a size 16 or 18.

And really, it is nice to see that places are using more realistic models, but it just bothers me that they're calling realistically-sized women "plus-sized"... as if they're fat--- because society sees "plus-sized" as fat. =/

It's ok to rant, especially since it does apply to the discussion. ^^

And I agree, we never get to see actual LARGE women modeling... at least not for the big shot companies, anyway. I went to a few plus-sized modeling sites, and there were a few women who were around sizes 22-28... but not a lot. It was very disappointing...

I agree with you totally Skeech. If they -are- going to have models, they need to have US sized models. ><

It's too bad you guys don't have a Voluptuous store near you...they have plus sized models who are anywhere between the sizes of 14-30, wearing sexy flattering clothing...I definitely get a boost of confidence when I walk into that store, the staff range from being slightly chubby to being curvy to the max and they are confident and love to accentuate their curves ^_^

The media does not want to portray overweight women as sex objects, they're quite content to portray big women as something not to be desired, so they're basically promoting with their choice in models that if you're 12-16 you're alright, but if you're any bigger than that, then you aren't worthy to be shown off in our catalogue.

Discrimination sucks.
