This afternoon, our school had a rally. The show choir was performing with the Jazz band(I'm in that! lol). So I had to leave class to get ready and run through the song once. I had to change into my uniform, so I put my instrument down, went into the locker room and changed. I came back and I was in a hurry. I hooked my saxophone to my neck strap and ran to sit down. As I sat down, my mouthpiece jerked towards my head and the reed cut my lip. I didn't notice at first until I needed to tune and I adjusted my mouthpiece and I noticed the blood. I tune and sat there for a moment...... sucking my own blood lol. I'm a vampire! lol ;D

Has anything like this happened to you?

lol. yes, many times. one time that i remember, one of my fellow clarinet players was holding my horn for me for a minute so i could tie my show real quick. When i lifted my head back up, she handed it to me too fast and i turned the wrong way and sliced my lip with the reed. I broke it doing that too and i didn't notice it was bleeding till i actually felt it go down my lip a little and then our band director saw me and told me to go to the bathroom. lol, good times, good times. you gotta love playing reed instruments : D

i clonk myself in the head with my flute all the time, my flute has several sharp pieces that like to pop out sometimes and cut my hand, smacked myself in the mouth with both my flute and my sax (i have braces so it always ends in disaster XD), I'm short so my bass drum harness is too big for me yet its the shortest it will go (twice i nearly fell and both times the harness stabs me in the thigh. once it drew blood but the second time i did, it just left a massive bruise that i still have XD) and ive been hurt real bad from other people's instruments. the funny ones are when i accidentally bring my flute to my mouth on the wrong end and the sharp things pop out....one word...OUCH XD

The same thing happened to me, except I was sitting in a, seat, with my feet sprawled out in front of me, the BD saw my feet and eyed it until I got that he wanted them flat on the floor and so I went to put my feet flat on the floor and I hit the bottom of my clarinet with my knee's and so my clarinet reed and mouth piece slammed into my lip, it HURT and it was so embarrassing cause I was in the middle of band class and my band teacher started laughing about it. He told me I'm a human wreck waiting to happen. It's true.

I cannot even say how many times I've brought my flute up to my mouth too quickly and smacked my jaw instead. It hurts, especially the one time I had my tongue out [I don't even remember why] and slammed my flute into my jaw. My tongue felt like it had been sliced in half!

And of course, when you're in percussion, there are countless ways to injure yourself. My BD doesn't like it when the cymbals ring, and so I have to dampen them on my body, and there have been many times when I have gotten bruises from bringing them in too hard. And don't even get me started on the slapstick incidents...*shudder*

But I think it would suck even more to actually be bleeding. That hasn't happened to me yet, but I'm sure it's coming...

I play in parades after marching season is over, and it gets very cold here. My trumpet mouthpiece has a nasty habit of freezing to my lips, and I have to either rip the skin off, or pour scalding hot water on it. My friend has scars on the inside and outside of his lips where he was playing trumpet, and had braces... And got kicked in the back of the head while playing. It wasn't a pretty picture. Lol We (the band people who have all the scars) go over to the dance room which is right across the hall, and we laugh and say, "And you think you have it worse than us?" Then we bleed on them while they scream extremely high-pitched girly wails of terror and disgust. We just laugh. xp

Plenty of times! Just yesterday I dropped some of my sheet music and bent down to pick it up when my tuba fell on my head!!! It wasn't that bad but I still have a raging headache. And plenty of times I have hurt myself with my bassoon, my flute, my pan flute and my keyboard though the worse is my tuba crying

there is a small chip on my front tooth from my bari sax and every time I march or carry third bass it bruises my hips because they're very bony. I've also dropped the bells on my toes and they almost broke one. They weigh about 50+ lbs.

Yup yup I've had something like that happen with my bass clarinet. I was taking my instrument apart and the neck piece had cut me, I felt it but it wasn't bleeding so I hurried to my next class. I sit down and look at my hand and notice that half my thumb is covered in blood. I was like WTF and just licked the blood off until my teacher told me to go to the bathroom and wash it off before putting a bandaid on it. sweatdrop

I thought I was the only one that's ever hurt themselves with an instrument. Good to know I'm not alone. Once I sneezed when I was holding my trombone, (I wasn't playing, just resting.) and banged my eye right against the mouthpiece. I now have a black eye from it. Then another time I brought my french horn up to my mouth too quickly and chipped my front tooth.

The pins on my flute sometimes scratch me, but no real damage there. I have been hit on the head by a piccolo though. xP

Uhm, does it count that I hurt my hand carrying my boyfriend's bass 'bone case? It leaves marks like pull-up bars! >.<

I play snare in middle school band and it has fallen on me a few times. Once it hit my foot and it surprisingly hurt. But the really doesn't atone for the damage I do to others with my drumsticks. I hit a lot of annoying people with them, sometimes giving them marks. I once got told on because I hit someone who said something about guy drummers being better than girl drummers and the BD was one my side and didn't care that I hit him and left a mark!

Well, I stab myself with the little springs in my flute pretty often, and I've ended up hurting some teeth on more than one occasion. I have a friend who's constantly getting her ligature caught in her hair, and it's wonderful.

lol. i get my ligature caught in my hair sometimes. it's just so pleasent to rip out the remaining hair on the ligature after you ripped your own out. the girl in first chair has really really curly hair and she got her hair stuck in the ligature of her clairnet. not pretty.

i did chuckle at yours too : P
