I saw a movie made by one of my favorite zombie movie authors.
The movie was called "Diary of the Dead".
Haven't Seen it?
Here: http://www.watch-movies.net.in/play_new.php?si=585110&s=1&tra_st=0&u=aHR0cCUzQSUyRiUyRnd3dy5tZWdhdmlkZW8uY29tJTJGdiUyRkFYTTUwOU5BMjZlM2RjMDk4ZjhhNTVmNDlmNGU4MWRjNGI0ZTc0Yzc=&host=megavideo&mi=Diary-of-the-Dead-2007

( Click the red button, delete the added tab, then go back and click the button again. Your movie should begin. )

Want to know about it?
Here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diary_of_the_Dead

Now the reason I want you to see this is
1. It is an amazing movie.

2. It's philosophy is astounding.

I found something strange at the end that just seemed to stick, it was a quote made by one of the main characters.

* SPOILER ALERTS *
At the end of the movie, Debra show's her dead boyfriend's (Jason) last upload video.

" Debra: Jason once said he thought he could help, maybe even save some lives. This is the last thing he downloaded before he died: a couple of hometown Joes who went out to shoot at targets. But that day, they used people. Dead people. You know, just for fun? There was one target that was different from the rest. A woman... tied by her hair to the branch of a tree. The boys had this one set up just for kicks. They got out their favorite 12 gauge and...
[zombie's head is blown in half]
Debra: Are we worth saving? You tell me. "

So this brought up the question I ask you...
Are we really worth saving?

In short, probably not. Besides, who'd save us anyway?

that is a good question. let's see what all is wrong with the world that humanity is responsible for.
War (holy and political)
Greed
Corruptness
If you want to chalk it up global warming (I personally don't believe that it is humans who are responsible for this. it's just the natural life of the planet)
Poverty
Deforestation
Poaching
Crime
Planned famines
Pollution
Murders
Suicides (seriously is one person's life that bad)
Abortions (I can understand rape cases and incest but just because you weren't planning for it or you couldn't keep your pants on for that two or three minutes doesn't give you the right to kill an innocent)

But there is still a lot of good in the world.
Family val-wait those are disappearing
Well there's mor-no wait those are going down the drain too
well there's charity (most humans are suckers for sob stories)
adoption agencies
people who do the right thing (few and far between)

I don't think we deserve to be saved.

Seriously you act if all the horrible things are exclusive to humans. The only thing that makes our acts so much worse is that we have the capacity to do it on a global scale.

Let's see. We have Gang raping ducks, political corruptness with tyrannical alpha males/female, what's considered crime is subjective to a society/species, ...

So what's the real difference between animal and human behavior? Scale.

So to say that we aren't worth saving would be to say that nothing at all is worth saving but since this all based on an idealization of what humanity should be/how the animal kingdom appears to us in our romanticized world view I'm sure that's going to be over looked.

I say yes we are. Out of something bad good always come.
We are worth saving even though we might not seem it.

Are we worth saving?
According to Jewish Philosiphy, it would have been better that we were not even created, because of all the sin we were created into. However, that does not matter because everyone who was created was created anyway despite that and we must use the Betzelem Elohim (godliness) within us to overcome sin.
So we are worth saving.

Interesting question. There are people that are just sick beyond reason, and it would be easy to generalize that all humans are bad... but we are all different and some of us are not.

We're worth saving as long as there are those of us that deserve it.

The Bible says 'there is none righteous'. We are not perfect. We are selfish and we hurt those around us. Thankfully, God loved us enough to want to save us. He sent His Son to live on earth and die for us. He saved us even though we don't deserve it.

"Worth"
"Worth"!!
I'd sob for less .....
We ARE!
Those who commit "suicide" is more blessed in my eyes than those who think they'll get to Hell for it.

We're not "worth" anything as such!
We just ARE!

I mean .........
Somehow, for some reason, God wants us to be around.
Why?
Maybe because we ARE flawed, selfish, and such.
Well, you know what?
I do not want to live in the world as it is today, but i cannot "commit suicide". I LITERALLY CAN NOT!
I am unable to do so.
But, really, a lot of the bad today is done by God.
And by people that fear Hell and/or God .......

So, the question "Are we worth Saving?" is very much moot.
As it is, i would say: No, but it is up to each and everyone to prove me wrong ......... if they can.

Where exactly did suicide come from? .___.
The idea was, if we need help, are we worth saving?
Take a look at today's world...
"History repeating itself" exists and it hurts others.
Hate.
Crime.
Alot of other bad s**t.

As a humanist, I believe we don't need to exist and we might actually be better off not existing, maybe. But it is still fun to live. Not to mention there isn't really much of an idea of value unless it is to make the lives of all the beings on the planet better. Me might be able to do that after we can help our own, or even ourselves.

Dang page stretching.

My interest is piqued; what is the length of this movie as I'm currently under time constraints but genuinely curious to come back to this tonight, or perhaps a later day. I rather not open a window 'til it's ready as the notebook can but handle so much.

It is almost 2 hours. However, all kinds of rental stores have the movie and I HIGHLY suggest checking it out.

Time will tell. We can't help others unless we help ourselves. Being the social beings that we are I guess we can't help ourselves? Although we can't be selfish either.

I was just reading through this book and they cited a guy from Enlightenment Magazine. They were saying how the pace of change is doubling every decade. So I guess that mean our destruction would be included? So we'll be extinct sooner then we realize.
