I track money on www.WheresGeorge.com I have my own stamp and stamp the site on the money. Occasionally, I get money with Christian sayings. And this made me think, is this a bad or good thing to do? Besides the fact its illegal to mark on bills in the US. I mean...Does anyone actually pay attention? One of the things that made me want to read the Qur'an and learn about Islam, was a bumper sticker that said, "Read Qur'an, Change your Life" It was...simple yet inspirational. What if a message on money, did the same? Have you ever printed religious sayings or something on money? ((We wont turn you in!))
Do you think this could change lives?
Have you received money with something religious on it?

I believe in separation of church and state completely. So in these cases, I believe in removing what the Red Scare as done. I will occasionally mark out the words of Christianity off of US dollar bills but only at times. I just hate the idea that an entire country advertises a single religion. Would be better if all the main religions were on the currencies. I like the idea of Atheism being on the 5 dollar bill. cool I would rather just have it be currency, though.

Christians preaching by writing on money and putting it into circulation? That's stupid.

Lumanny the Space Jew Christians preaching by writing on money and putting it into circulation? That's stupid. *nods* Agreed and it's especially true in a religion that usually associates money with material possessions and things of the world and not of God. I probably would never notice if I had money with a message on it. I don't track money, I don't collect coins, it's only worth to me is typically a nice hot cup of Seattle's best.

I've seen it... sweatdrop My brother had a bunch of these 1000 dollar bills that were clearly fake, that were basically for Christianity. I don't see anything wrong with it...

I think its pointless, spreading Christianity through money. Even when I was little, I didn't care that much about money. Now, that I'm agnostic, all it tells me is that this country isn't as secular as it claims to be. I liked the idea if they put a different religion on every form of currency though. If they do, agnostics get the twenty dollar bill. ^.^

They're worthless, I had to throw money away, because no one would take it. crying

That's stupid. *nods* Agreed and it's especially true in a religion that usually associates money with material possessions and things of the world and not of God. But on the other hand, Christians are meant to give money to those less fortunate. I remember something vaguely about that. So if you're giving it with a Christian message on it, maybe in some sense you're giving twice. Or maybe the gift means less because it comes with the requirement of a dose of Jesus, rather than being unconditional or whatever. Of course all this supposes that the money is a gift and they're not spending it on stuff for themselves.

I wonder how many people "got saved" by looking at a christian saying on a bill, opposed to just ignoring it and spending it, like I would probably do.

It seems a bit devious and deceitful to me, trying to 'sneak in' the word of God.

I hate the fact that the hipocrits running America claim that they're are separting state from law. It's the "We have equal rights for all people. And by people we mean white men." thing all over again. I choose not to throw a total hissy fit about it because nothing I say or do will ever really solve this, but I will admit that I have not said the full Pledge of Alligence for years. Take a guess as to why? wink

I found a 100$ bill on the ground once, picked it up, and it was one of those trick ads some churches lay on the ground. They make it look like money when it is really an ad to join a church. crying
