Swirling Sea

Taking a ferry out into the ocean a short ways, you'll come upon a tiny little rock of an island with only just enough room on it's surface for a single palm tree and a little shack with a sign out front reading "Air Beads". In this house is a friendly Azumarill who will lend you and your team special bead necklaces that will allow you to breathe underwater if you can't already; which is a very good thing, as this dungeon is entirely that: underwater.
Diving down into the sea from Azumarill's island, you'll be surrounded by colorful coral reefs, swaying algae, and all sorts of other beautiful sights; but don't forget, this is still a dungeon, and dangers lurk even here.
Particularly be careful of powerful currents that can drag you down or any other direction you can think of, and avoid going too deep unless you really know what you're doing. A monstrous pokemon lies asleep in a deep trench at the dungeon's end, and it's not one you'd want to wake up.

Ixan ~ Daniel

At Azumarill's Island...
"So, did you pick this place to be humiliated or because I can't go underwater??" Daniel asked upon arrival. Ixan sighed heavily as she jumped onto the sand. They started towards the shack in silence. There was only a single palm tree on the small piece of land. The ocean breeze seemed to be the only thing that Ixan missed of the great ocean... What she was thinking upon taking this mission, had she read the dungeon location correctly?
"No,” Ixan responded Daniel. “Air beads will help you breath underwater, come on," He looked at her with disbelief but followed her into the shack. They entered to a room stocked of the beads, it was like someone had a special collection of all the air beads you could dream of. The place seemed to almost shine as the light was reflected off every bead.
The Azumarill came up to us with a smile, as if expecting us. "You must want one if these, correct?" He handed one air bead to Daniel.
"What do you want for it?"
"Oh, no payment, please, your bravery is enough. I wish you good luck," With that, they exited the place.
“...Is it just me or did he mean more than that?” Ixan spoke.
“Than what?” Daniel gave me a strange look.
“'Your bravery is enough,' didn't that strike you as weird?”
“What? Are you scared?” Dan grinned.
“What?! Oh, forget it. Hurry up...” She rolled her eyes and stepped into the water that washed up the island.
“Ok, how does this work?” He played with the empty bead.
“I think it activates itself, let's Go...” Ixan sounded frustrated, trying to ignore Dan's comment. She headed in first, Daniel just behind her. They took their last breath on land... For a while.

Zori & Luna

The Bulletin Board ~
Zori and Luna glanced at eachother. "Are you sure you're okay with this, Lu? I mean, you ARE a Ground-type. You're weak to water..." Zori's voice was full of concern and sympathy with her partner. She really wanted this mission, but she refused to risk her partners in the process. Luna tapped her bone club on the top of the Eevee's head. "Don't you dare switch missions to compensate for my type. If we can't complete a mission because of me, what is my purpose in being here?" The Cubone noted quietly. Zori nodded. "You're right. Let's do this thing."

Morana&&Altus&&Crescendo

Morana looked up when she heard the steps of hard heavy feet approaching her in the courtyard. It was Incultyr. In his had was a sheet of paper.

"Morana, I think it's time for you to lead the next mission. Let's get back to the room."

Stretching, Morana stood up and followed Incultyr as he turned in the direction of the West Wing. She caught up to him easily, looking at the piece of paper curiously, but not asking any details about the mission.

When they entered the boy's side of the team rooms, they saw a large Milotic stretched across the floor, cooing lightly and singing a deep note from its throat. When the door opened it raised its head to look at the new arrivals.

"Mana! Inkity!" He cried out happily. "Welcome home, home!"

Altus was leaning against the baby Milotic's side, reading a book. He looked up when Incultyr and Morana entered, and set the book aside. Rising to his feet, he knew exactly what to expect seeing the piece of paper clutched in Incultyr's hand.

"Ah, mission time? So soon?" Altus was of course referring to 2 days ago when Incultyr had gone off by himself to arrest a giant Tyranitar at the Toxic Waste Dump. Incultyr handed Altus the mission sheet.

"Doesn't matter, I can't go on this one anyways." He's not exactly built for swimming.

After reading, Altus peered back over the paper, a questioning look on his face.

"Do you mean for me to take the client solo?" Altus asked, right away thinking that Incultyr did not mean for Morana to go on this mission. And though Altus had no problems with that, he was curious.

"No, I mean for you to take Morana and Cress with you."

The houndour looked at Incultyr with confusion, before padding forward and wordlessly asking for the mission. Altus handed it to her, and she read it over quickly. She glanced back at Incultyr, eyes wide.

"I can't go underwater!"

Incultyr simply took something out of his bag in response. It was a small glowing blue orb, and he threw it at Morana. It hit her on the back and instead of bouncing off, simply went right in. It was a TM.

"That's Aqua Ring. It'll protect you from the water."

---

So impossibly, somehow, Morana ended up agreeing to go. Crescendo's mentally developed enough to follow simple instructions, and his simple size would probably keep him safe from most enemies. So they took the Milotic with them, knowing that he would be more more at ease in the water than either Morana or Altus.

So they travelled towards the sea, the path well-worn and maintained for the thriving beach tourism in that area. After an hour or so's travel, they arrived at the Client's home, a small shack on the edge of the beach. They found the Wartortle lying in the water, enjoying the sun.

"Ah, excuse me. Are you Kelvin?" Altus asked the water-type. The Wartortle opened his eyes and stretched, not seeming to mind the water that was washing over him with each wave. He scrutinized the members of Team Polaris who came before turning over and getting to his feet.

"Yeah, that'd be me. You an exploration Team?"

Altus nodded, and handed Kelvin the mission sheet.

"We're Team Polaris, at your service. So, you simply want an escort through the area?"

Kelvin nodded, looking over at Morana skeptically.

"Well, let's hope this goes well, I've been thinkin' of moving down there. Your water-type pal there can swim one of you over to Azumarill's island? I can't carry both of ya."

"Milllo!" Crescendo cried an affirmative, even though he hasn't been in water since his evolution. Eager to please, Cress slithered through the sand, leaving S-shaped furrows behind him. He entered the water with a happy cry, and dove in and forward until he was deep enough to swim. He seemed happy about being in the water.

He soon settled at a good depth for Altus and Morana to climb onto his back. Altus watched Morana stare at the water dubiously, and she finally closed her eyes and took a step in. Water hissed and steamed as it came in contact with her fur, but a blue glow came over her and it stopped. She gave a cry of surprise and opened her eyes.

She took another step into the water -the sand feels so weird under the water than above!- and eventually reached Crescendo where Altus helped her get seated. Up until now only her legs was wet, and when she settled down, water came in contact with her belly. A bit more hissing and steaming, Cress shifting uncomfortably, and finally it stopped. Altus climbed on behind Morana, ready to keep hold of the houndour in case she falls off.

"You sure you up to this Cress?"

The Milotic let out a piercing vibrato note, and dove forwards as his answer.

"Took y'all long enough." Kelvin commented, having watched from the beach, but he didn't seem to mind the delay. Fluffing up his tail by batting at it with a hand, he waded into the water and jumped head-in the moment it was deep enough to.

They travelled along the top of the water for about half an hour, taking a leisurely pace. Crescendo swam by twisting from side to side like a water snake, while Kelvin constantly dove under the water and back up, often flipping his tail up over the surface to catch some more oxygen.

When they finally reached the little sandy island out in the middle of the water, Morana stumbled off in relief. She was completely wet, even though her high body temperature has been constantly trying to dry her off. When she finally stumbled onto dry land, she shook her head violently, the motion rippling through her entire body to shake the water off her fur. Altus jumped onto land and repeated a similar motion.

"How are you feeling Morana?"

The houndour simply nodded, afraid she was going to throw up. She was still struggling with the Aqua Ring, the water magic foreign to her, who's never studied magical theory before, which is something very helpful for those who attempt to use TMs to learn moves outside their natural capability. Despite that thought, it had done a good job at keeping her from getting killed by simply being wet, and for the first time in her life, the contact with water was not painful.

They left Crescendo to play by herself in the shallows around the island and they entered the Azumarill's little house.

The house was more of a tiny little hut, elevated above the sand on stilts to ride out the occasional flooding and made of durable wood. The thatched roofs looks like they were wade by weaving the giant leaves of the palm tree together. Inside was a small room, with a bed at the side and a desk. Along the wall hung necklaces of varying sizes, each sporting dozens of little blue orbs.

The Azumarill was at the desk, and looked up from a book she was reading.

"Ah, hello there!" She greeted them, getting off the chair and approaching them. "I suppose you're here for the beads yes?"

Altus confirmed it and the Azumarill happily scurried over to them, checking exactly what sizes of the necklace they needed.

"So, one for you two..." She mumbled as as looked over Altus and Morana.

"Me too please." Kelvin requested. The Azurmarill cocked her head at this, but decided not to comment as she rushed back to her wall. Altus however...

"Why do you need one?" He asked their client.

"I'm water typed, not water breathin'! I store all the Oxygen I need in my tail, but it 'aint gonna last forever."

"How long do you think you'd be down there?" The Azumarill asked as she grabbed a few necklaces off the wall.

"About an hour and a half should be fine." Kelvin replied, and the Azumaril snatched the last one from a low peg.

"Good, good, these'll last for about two hours then." She told them cheerfully, handing one to each of them. "Now, that'll be 300 PD."

Kelvin took out the coins and handed it to the Azumarill.

"Do you need these back afterwards?" Altus asked, putting on the necklace. It was surprisingly light, and he could see the little beads on it were little glass bubbles.

"Oh no, the magic would have run out by then. Feel free to keep it as a souvenir."

After thanking the water-type, the three of them left the little hut, ready to begin their adventure. Unknown to them though, their "adventure" had already started without them. The three of them stared in shock as they watched the water a little ways off from the shore splash violently, and Crescendo leap high above the surface, making a piercing, painful sound. Below them a huge fish emerged from the water, snapping powerful jaws at the Milotic, nearly missing his tail.

"Aw shoot."

As Crescendo slammed back into the water, he could feel the Sharpedeo swimming along right behind him, chasing him as he swam as fast as he could towards the shore. Her natural swimming abilities were no match for the practised hunter though- Cress screamed, head breaching the water as he felt a sharp pain surround his tail and then the numbness of ice. Crescendo hated fighting and violence, but he had to choice.

Snapping around so fast that the resistance against the water hurt, he launched himself at the Sharpedo. Milotics didn't have much of a mouth or teeth, but he didn't need those weapons. The Sharpedeo was firmly clamped onto his tail with an ice fang and couldn't get away fast enough. He wrapped his entire body's length around the fish, squeezing. Cress cried out in pain when he felt the fish's rough scales cutting through his tender skin.

The Sharpedo finally let go of his tail, struggling to swim free. He seemed to have underestimated Cress's size and weight when he decided that the Milotic would make a good meal. Having grown exponentially in his first few weeks as a Milotic, he's already nearing five meters long and well over 300 pounds. Cress simply held on for dear life as the fish thrashed, its scales cutting deeper and deeper into him. Blood flowed from those small wounds as well as the bite marks on his tail.

He started as another figure moved past him, but he calmed when he saw it was the swimming form of Altus. The Riolu took a deep breath -even with the air beads it was a still a reflex- and dived under, swimming over to the tangled Milotic-Sharpedo mess.

Altus, seeing no way to attack the Sharpedeo without hurting Crescendo, brought magic to his paws and waved it frantically in front of the shark Pokemon. It struggled a bit more, but soon its eyes were glued to Altus's glowing paw, which bobbed up and down with him as he tried to maintain his depth.

Cress let go of the Sharpedo when he felt it go limp, and raced around the water to hide behind Altus, which was rather ridiculous looking since the Riolu was about a tenth of his size.

The Sharpedo, having fallen asleep from Altus's Hypnosis, simply drifted off and down, hitting the shallow bottom with a puff of sand. The Riolu struggled to get back up the surface, but did not break it fast enough. He gasped and water went down into his lungs, not painfully as he expected but with relief, if not a bit salty and bitter. A bit unnerved by the feeling, he promptly broke the surface coughing up water.

Crescendo rose up beneath him, buoying him up above the water. He swam back to shore with quick flicks of his tail, trailing blood behind them. On the beach the others were waiting with worried looks, including the Azurill.

"Oh dear, are you two all right?" The azurill asked, glancing nervously at Crescendo's wounds. Morana bounded up to Altus and the Riolu embraced her, whispering reassuring words. She cringed slightly at the water dripping off his fur, but was soon able to ignore it as she buried her face into his embrace.

Kelvin examined Crescendo's wounds, and was amazed to see the blood stop flowing and the skin start sealing itself.

"Well what do ya know, take a look at this." He called Altus and Anna over. The two, concerned about sending Cress back so soon, were amazed to see that he was already most of the way healed. Crescendo gently bugled a soothing note.

So it seems their Milotic was a healer huh.

"Are you still up for this?" Altus asked, and Crescendo responded by smacking his tail against the shallow water, spraying both Altus and Morana with sea water and sand. That was a yes.

"C'mon, let's get going already!" Now that it was established that Crescendo wasn't in any sort of immediate danger, Kelvin was impatient. They've already probably took half an hour off their beads just by standing here.

So after braving themselves, Altus and Morana walked into the water until it was up to their necks, and with a deep breath ducked their heads under. Morana had to do this several times before she managed to get herself to actually breathe underwater. For a moment she made motions like she was choking as the water battled with her inner fires, but then it stopped, the process smoothed along by both the Beads and Aqua Ring.

Both of them scurried over to Crescendo, grabbing onto him and letting him guide them. Bringing Cress ended up being a good idea, for otherwise they would have never been able to have kept up with Kelvin, who was a much faster swimmer than Altus and Morana. For obvious reasons.

"So where do y'all want to check out first?" Kelvin asked, looking left and right as if searching for something. The idea of talking underwater was still a bit of a shaky thing for the explorers, and Altus hesitated more than a little bit before replying.

"I don't really care. We're just here to keep you safe right? Feel free to explore wherever." It was so weird hearing his voice underwater!

They travelled along the sandy bottom, glorious fine white sand. It was a veritable coral reef here, with all of the colours of the spectrum surrounding them.

They stopped every once in a while so that Kelvin could stop and check out something he saw, usually a brightly coloured fish that darts off or weird little animals -are they even considered Pokemon?- that crawled along the floor. They reached an open stretch of water, the seabed beneath them so deep it was pitch black.

"Never knew it was so beautiful down here." Kelvin remarked at one point.

"You've never come down here before?" Altus asked. From the looks of it, the Wartortle lived here!

"Naw, I can't fight. I don't know what I'd do if a wild Pokemon attacks." Kelvin replied. "That's why I'm getting y'all to come with me 'aint it?"

Altus shrugged and looked around from Crescendo's back, staring into the distance which eventually faded into a dark blue. Little splotches of colour swam against this backdrop, and it really was a beautiful sight. After he got used to the whole breathing underwater thing, it wasn't so bad.

There was a bubbly yelp behind him, and then he felt an excruciating jolt run through him. He heard Kelvin yelp in surprise, but was more worried in keeping hold of Cress as his muscled twitched convulsively from the electricity. Crescendo thrashed as the attack went through him, nearly throwing his two riders off.

Altus spun around, trying to see their attackers, but the water was murky and he couldn't see- wait, it was murky?

Morana was more startled than hurt by the attack. Though she was a houndour, her father was a Manectric and her body could store a good deal of electricity without hurting her. She harmlessly absorbed the attack, but in her panic she also let out an attack. In the split second in which she decided what to do, she knew that a fire attack would be out of the question -it might breach the protection given to her and have all the sea water douse her inner fire- and she couldn't exactly use a thunderbolt and fry her friends too. So she opened her mouth and let out a toxic smokescreen, hoping to impair the vision of whatever was attacking them.

Another surge of electricity coursed through the party, the explorers enduring it with gritted teeth. Kelvin yelped in both pain and fright, and withdrew into his shell in a quick motion.

Through the haze of water Morana picked out a dull glow. Squinting her eyes, she tried to make out what it was, before she saw an attack coming her way. With a yelp, she kicked off of Crescendo, getting herself as well as the Milotic away from the attack. The Signal Beam hurled by, the water stirring violently in its wake. As Morana tried to keep herself from spinning along with the disturbed water, she could see the clear path the attack had cut through the smokescreen. On the other side were two blue fish with glowing antennae.

Altus apparently saw them too, before he kicked off from the Milotic and swam towards the fish attackers.

"Protect Kelvin!" Altus told her, and though he didn't speak very loudly, water carried the words well. She nodded and did her best to swim downwards towards Kelvin, who was still in his shell and slowly drifting towards the bottom.

In front of Altus one of the Chinchous opened its mouth and let out a high-pitched screeching sound, which set the water vibrating. Altus gritted his teeth against it, though it wasn't nearly as painful as the sound Incultyr could make.

With that thought in mind, he spun around in midair attempting at a kick, which didn't work out well since, well, he was in water, where he couldn't brace itself. But something interesting happened when he tried to use Blaze Kick though; instead of fire trailing behind his attack, boiling water did. So while he didn't manage to even contact one of the two fish pokemon, a wave of bubbling hot water did.

They tried to scramble out of the way, but the heat descended upon them, burning them all over. As they frantically tried to recover from this attack. Altus grabbed the both of them, one in each hand. They released electricity which went straight into his body, but with a grimace he ignored it and slammed the two Chinchous together. Letting go, the two unconscious fish slowly floated up towards the surface.

By now the water had cleared, and he looked down to see that Morana was in a battle of her own.

When she dived down, she managed to grab onto the edge of Kelvin's shell to stop his slow fall a dozen or so meters underneath the others. The pressure change from such a small change in depth was surprisingly big, and she could feel the insides of her ears starting to hurt.

"Kelvin, please come out." She whined, trying to keep her client from dropping off somewhere so deep she wouldn't dare go. The wartortle stuck his head out, looking slightly shaken.

"Sorry, I'm, afraid I got quite a scare- AHHH!" he ducked his head right back in, and Morana stared at him in confusion before something slammed into her side. She lost her grip on their client as she spun in the water, all four limbs flailing to try to get her right-side up again.

In front of her was a large angry fish. It was also blue with two little glowing things coming out of the top of its head, but these were front and back instead of side by side. Before she could look any further, the light on its head suddenly flashed with blindingly bright light that left spots in Morana's eyes.

She felt the thing tackle her again with enough force that if there wasn't water giving away behind her, her ribs would have cracked. She dug her fangs into the first thing she blindly could -and it was a fin- and she released as much electricity as she could.

The fish seemed unaffected, and threw her right off. When she finally started to get her vision back, the fish's light was pulsing gently. She couldn't keep her eyes off of it, and before long she was simply just floating there, staring at the throbbing light, mesmerized. She knew she had to get away and that it wasn't safe to simply stay there, but it was hard to act on it.

"Milo!" Crescendo cried out when she saw Morana drop Kelvin, and with a flick of his tail, dove downwards as fast as he could. The Lanturn couldn't get away fast enough, and the Milotic dove into him, causing him to spin erratically off to the side. Cress pulled up just under Kelvin, and grabbed onto a bit of his tail which was poking out of the shell with his mouth. Bubbles erupted from his mouth as he released all the air trapped within the fur. The Wartortle popped out of his shell, screaming and failing.

"Oh Arceus don't eat me!" He wailed.

Morana blinked as a purple blur zoomed past her, disrupting the Lanturn's confuse ray attack. Realizing what had happened, she darted forward and latched onto the fish before it could recover and bit down onto the bright lure on its head. Without a second thought she violently jerked her head back, braced against its back.

Both antennas came off. The thing screamed, but the houndour didn't give it any chances. Her hunter instincts took over and she dug her claws into it, flipping it belly-up before sinking her fangs into its throat. Blood and sea water filled her mouth, electricity being discharged from its body into hers at a rate that was painful even to her. She kicked off and watched the fish slowly stop squirming and drift downwards, trailing blood.

Beneath her Crescendo was swimming up towards her, dragging their flailing client along by the tail.

"Good job Cress." Morana told the Milotic softly as she grabbed onto him and he swam towards Altus. The Riolu was staring past them at the bloody corpse of the lanturn Morana had led.

Morana was always such an incredibly shy, easy to scare Pokemon that Altus always gets unnerved when he gets reminded that she was a Houndour, and still very much a fierce fighter.

Altus grabbed onto one of Cress's ears to stabilize himself as he grabbed Kelvin, spun him around, and did everything he could to calm their client down.

"Bloody electrical fish things...I swear to Arceus I didn't even know such freaks existed..." Kelvin was muttering by the end of several long minutes.

"Let's hurry up, we've got another twenty or so minutes on the necklace. We should head back towards shor- AH!"

Altus ducked as something swam towards him at incredible speeds, missing his head by inches.

"SWEET MOTHER OF CLAMPEARL WHAT WAS THAT!?" Kelvin wailed, having lost his composure completely. Again. Altus ignored him and spun around to see a blue and red fish with yellow fins. A Carvanha. It seems the blood that Morana had left drew a crowd.

Turning around, Altus saw dozens more swimming towards them. Damn the water and the constantly sound of waves coming from up above; he would have never allowed an enemy to sneak up so close to him without being seen on shore.

Crescendo let out a loud pure noise, and spun himself in the water, tail smacking the unsuspecting Carvanha that had tried to attack Altus. The poor thing spun away from the group, not even remotely aware of what had hit it.

The rest of the school seemed to hesitate as they saw the first float there, confused and disoriented in the water, but figured that they could take on the four pokemon. Two of them weren't even native to the water!

So the rather large piranhas swarmed in towards the four of them. Morana and Altus was at loss as to what they could do, and Kelvin simply howled and doved back into his shell. Altus grabbed onto his tail before he could sink down into more of the carnivorous fish.

Crescendo however, wrapped its huge body protectively around the explorers and their client, glowing a slight pink. About half of the charging fish suddenly stopped in mid-water, water agape and staring at Cress with a stupid look on their faces. Ah the powers of being beautiful and enhancing it with magic.

The rest of the unaffected fish soon found themselves running head-first into a wall that Crescendo had thrown up. The Milotic let out a long soothing note, and flicked ones of his tails, sending a strong current in the direction of one of the crowds of Carvanha.

"I want to go home! This place sucks!" Kelvin whined, his words oddly muffled by his shell. Apparently he hadn't anticipated the waters being this dangerous.

"We can get out of here right away with the explorers badge, but it means we'll end up at the Guild. You'd have to make your own way back here, is that good with you?" Altus asked, trying to keep his grip on their client's tail as well as Cress's slippery body.

"Yes, yes, anything to get out of here!"

Altus was going to reach over to Morana who kept their explorer's badge in her collar bag when Crescendo suddenly jerked violently to the side, dragging all three of them along with him. He held on for dear life as the Milotic corkscrewed in the water, and brightness suddenly filled his vision.

Morana gaped as the Hyper Beam shot past them, breaking apart Crescendo's barrier and frying more than a few Carvanhas in the way. A heated wave of water rolled over them, sending Crescendo spinning away without control, up down left and right all being mixed together.

"Morana, get us out of here!" Altus yelled, but the Houndour couldn't reach for her collar when she was holding onto Crescendo so tightly. The Milotic struggled to right himself and finally stilled, and four of them staring at the scene before them.

A Gyarados rampaged through the open water, chasing the Carvahnas and fragmenting the school.

"Arceus, that's uh..." Altus has seen enough of the marine food chain for today. He reached over to Morana to dig out the explorer's badge in her collar. She swam a little closer, clamping her jaws on the edge of Kelvin's shell to stop him from spinning free as Altus was preoccupied.

The Riolu finally fished out the explorer's bade, and held it up.

"We ready?" he asked. Kelvin let out a pitiful squeak and Morana nodded. Altus was just about to activate it when one of the Carvanhas clamped it jaws down firmly onto his arm.

The teleporting light of the badge engulfed all of them, including the Carvanha even as Altus screamed with pain. And within a split second during which nothing seemed to exist, they all showed up in Team polaris's Team room, bringing quite a lot of water with them.

"Jesus Christ what the hell is going on!?" They heard a familiar Larvitar's muffled voice from underneath Crescendo. From all the sand that covered them, they could assume they landed onto top of the sand pile Incultyr used as a bed.

Altus threw the Carvanha off his arm and it smacked wetly against the wall, slipped to the floor, and flopped around uselessly. Morana finished it off with a bolt of electricity.

Ahem, after untangling themselves from poor Incultyr, Kelvin stood to his feet and dusted himself off.
"Yeah, no way am I going back there! Forget that place, I'm out of here!"
He turned to the team and smiled sheepishly before tossing a bag towards Morana's feet and scurrying out the room.
Inside the Houndour would find an extra added bonus of 1000PD, a Link Cable and a Pearl!
---
The next day at the guild, a Carvahna swam through the air and snapped its teeth into a sharp-toothed smile at Altus, behind it a small Lanturn waited as well as a familiar Wartort-Wait a second! Kelvin!
The team could only take on of the recruits though!

After scrambling off of Incultyr and Crescendo sprayed some water on everyone to get the sand off, the Larvitar looked around at the mess. When they had teleported back, a fair chunk of the seawater had come with them and was currently swamping the room.

"Damn you guys were gone for long. The alarm went off about an hour ago."
He grumbled, completely ignoring their clients. (Chapter 15)

---

Altus was the one who opened the door the next day, and blinked at the trio of Pokemon in front of them.

"Uh...recruits?" He asked, already very familiar with the process. Behind him Incultyr's sleepy voice sounded loudly.

"Arceus dammit no! For the last freaking time we are NOT taking recruits!" The Lanturn opened it mouth to protest, but was sent hurling back with a shadow ball. The fish landed with a thud against the door opposite theirs. Altus turned to stare at a very angry-looking Incultyr.

"What the hell!?" The door opened and an angry eevee poked his head out, glared at Team Polaris, the unconscious fish, and promptly slammed the door.

"Oi oi, I don't want to join! Exploring's way too dangerous!" Kelvin exclaimed, holding up his arms protectively. "I was thinkin' I'd invite y'all to the beach. The weather's clearing up and I'mma gonna celebrate my decision to stay on land. I thought you'd all like to come for a week, and yer Milotic there can enjoy the water."

Somehow, against all odds, the team finally agreed to go. When Atra heard about this, he was thrilled, and came along too. Without telling Lillium, since the Cyndaquil seemed intent on having him stop this "dangerous foolish exploration business".

They ended up having so much fun they stayed for another week and returned on Wednesday June 2nd, 2010.

Zori & Luna

The Bulletin Board

Zori and Luna glanced at each other.

If we can't complete a mission because of me, what is my purpose in being here?" The Cubone snapped sharply, sounding slightly insulted.

Zori nodded. She made sense. A rescue team should be able to take on any challenge, even if it was against their type or nature. "You're right. Let's do this thing."

The Seashore

Zori trotted back up to Luna, carrying a pair of strange-looking beads in her mouth. She dropped one in Luna's hands, and swallowed the other. Luna followed suit without comment, and the both of them raced for the water, leaping headfirst into the surf. They hovered underwater for a few minutes, waiting.

After a while, bubbles tore through the clear, mystical water as an Elekid jumped in. The two teammates nodded to each other. "Are you the Elekid we're to be escorting?" Zori asked quietly. Her voice was whispery and mystical. Another side effect of the beads, other than breathing underwater.

The Elekid nodded eagerly. "Take me to the thirty-first floor, right now!" Zori's ears twitch at the Electric-type's loud voice.

"As you wish, then." Luna replied with a little bit more patience than her partner had. Zori was seriously annoyed already.

The trio swam off toward the ocean floor.

Floors 1 - 5

Zori growled in a bad-tempered manner as the Elekid chattered on and on about his life back home. It wasn't pleasant talk, either. It was complaining. The Eevee flattened her ears in irritation.

"Servants are too slow! When I say I want ice cream, there should already be a great big bowl of the junk right in front of me! Not all this 'wait five minutes while I get it ready' crap! I mean, really! Why have servants if they can't do their jobs properly?"

Zori swam steadily along behind the Electric-type, groaning as she pinned her ears to her head with her paws. Luna was clearly not impressed by the Elekid's behavior, either, but she as far more laid back about the spoiled brat's attitude than Zori was. The Cubone was more nervous about the water, if anything. The half-blind Ground-type looked around anxiously with her good eye, keeping a sharp eye out for any sign of trouble. Her body was tense, as if she was expecting an attack at any given moment.

Zori brushed up against the Cubone's side to try and soothe her, but the Ground-type twitched in alarm, glaring at the Eevee for frightening her. Zori mouthed a quick 'sorry' and swam a little farther away. They swam on in silence for a few minutes, excepting the Elekid's never-ending chatter and complaints. He had a mouth larger than an Exploud's. Good grief!

A distant, deep song-like cry distracted Luna. The Cubone paused, bringing the other two members of the group to a halt along with her. "What is it, Lu?"

orange]"Why the hell did you stop?! I order you to take me deeper down, right now!" The Elekid screamed childishly.

Zori flattened her ears, growling at the Elekid's irritating nature. Boy, she couldn't stand not being able to sink her claws into his throat... Why did everyone insist on ticking her off today?

"I just thought... I thought I heard something."

Zori nodded slightly, her eyes flickering around to try and catch a glimpse of whatever her teammate had heard. Being partially blind, the Cubone had better hearing than most; including Zori, sometimes. Behind them, the Elekid was still impatiently screaming about wanting to go to the thirty-first floor.

Suddenly, a sharp yelp from behind her made Zori whirl around to face the Elekid. A school of Finneon swarmed around the Electric-type. He shocked them with a Thunderbolt, not thinking about the consequences. Zori doubled-over in pain, screaming into the water. Over half of the Finneon darted away, realizing that they were no match for an Electric-type. Luna, being a Ground-type didn't feel a thing. She darted over, swinging her club around wildly, and smirked as she felt it make contact with a few of the Finneon.

A moment later, they were swarming at her, using various Water-type attacks. She shrieked in pain, swinging a powerful Bone Club down on one of their heads. The fish-like Pokemon drifted unconscious toward the surface.

Zori, having recovered from the Thunderbolt, darted into the fray, using Bite. Her jaws clamped around a fin, and she shook her head viciously. The Finneon raced away, squealing in pain. Blood trailed along in the water behind it.

Some sort of black, smoke-like substance clouded over everything, bringing the battle to a sharp halt. A Smokescreen? Where did that come fr- WHAM. A Seadra collided with Zori's side using a powerful Giga Impact. Zori flailed uselessly in the water, only half-conscious. The Seadra took a moment to recover from the powerful attack it had launched, and Luna decided to take advantage of it. The Cubone swung her club like a boomerang. Bonemerang. That was a new one! It smacked the Seadra sharply in the side of the head, blood squirting into the water. The bone came flying back, and Luna caught it in her free hand, swinging it around to smack a final Finneon into oblivion.

The Seadra sent out a Hydro Pump at the Cubone, who braced for impact. The hit sent her spinning through the surf, The Seadra was about to launch a Bubblebeam when Zori re-appeared just behind the Water-type, driving her sharp little fangs into it's neck. The Seadra howled in pain, threw the Eevee off of itself, and disappeared into the deep.

The Elekid peeked out from behind Luna, who was swimming slowly back to Zori's side. Zori shook her head vigorously, before swimming over to meet the other two halfway. The three glanced at each other. "We'll have to be on our guard from now on." Luna noted quietly.

Zori nodded. "They travel in groups; we'll have to remember that. I didn't think that they shared a bond like that, but I guess they'd think the same if they saw the Guild." The Elekid stayed quiet for once, shaking like a leaf in the wind. Zori was breathing heavily; she'd taken a hard beating. But it was Luna whom she was concerned about. The Ground-type had taken a direct hit from a Hydro Pump. She looked about ready to pass out cold. The Eevee wrapped her tail around the Cubone, guiding her carefully through the water.

There was a coral reef on the ocean floor below. The Pokemon in the area had scattered, so it seemed like a safe enough spot to rest. The brightly-coloured coral was beautiful, but it wasn't the main focus of their mission. Zori settled Luna in amongst the coral, taking a Big Apple out of the team's supplies. She carefully held it up for Luna, and the Cubone took slow, pain-staking bites of the apple. Zori felt relieve when she could sere some of her friend's strength return. She pulled out an apple for herself, and she settled down to eat next to Luna.

The Elekid wandered, curious about everything, and feeling that his escorts were too boring for his taste.

Zori finished off her apple, wiggling her tail with joy at feeling her strength return. Her side hurt quite a bit, but that was okay. It wasn't terribly serious. Probably just a really bad bruise.

Luna got up, putting away her club, and adjusting her helmet. "You ready, Lu?" The Eevee asked her, her silver and charcoal fur glimmering in the strange light that shone down from the water's surface.

The Cubone looked around. "We might need our client first, Zori."

Zori swore. Couldn't the Elekid stay out of trouble for five minutes?!

Both Pokemon swam off through the coral, searching for the missing Elekid. A flash of movement attracted their attention. "Elekid?" Luna called out hopefully. No. It was a Mantyke. The peaceful Pokemon glided past without a second thought. Zori shook her head, seeing her partner reach for her club. "Leave it be, Lu. Mantykes aren't aggressive."

The Cubone nodded in understanding, removing her hand from her bone club, and following Zori through the maze of colourful corals. A wave of Electricity jolted the water around them, making hissing noises as the intense heat traveled through the cool water. Zori growled, and Luna readied her club. The pair shot through the water, heading for the source of the electric jolt. Another shock rippled through the water, and they picked up the pace. Luna ended up slamming headfirst into the Elekid, and Zori...

The Octillery hisses, wrapping a tentacle around the little Eevee's body. She squirmed, Biting into the Pokemon's tentacle with her sharp fangs.

Luna recovered from her mistake with ease, swinging a Bone Club into the Octillery's side. Tentacles Wrapped around Zori, squeezing the Normal-type tightly. Luna used Skull Bash, driving her bone-covered head straight into the Pokemon's soft body. The Octillery released the Eevee with a hiss, and slipped away into the coral.

Zori gasped for breath, glad to be free, but feeling a little lightheaded. Luna patted Zori's back comfortingly, waiting patiently as the Pokemon caught her breath. Then, the Ground-type led the trio down deeper into the sea, sinking slowly down to the next coral bed.

Floors 6 - 10

It was almost painful, listening to the Elekid's pointless chatter for so long. Zori's ears were ringing, and her sides still ached from battling the Seadra and Octillery. One would've thought that the Electric-type would learn to shut up after the first three times they were attacked. But no; they had to pick the idiot client.

She glanced over at her partner, her ears flicking warily. "It seems a little quiet here. Like a ghost town." She murmured softly to the Cubone.

Luna nodded, looking puzzled. "It does. One would think that somewhere as pretty as this would be teeming with life." The Ground-type sounded uneasy, like she'd much rather get away from this place than to keep going. Somewhere inside her mind, Zori had to agree with her reasoning. Unfortunately, the Elekid had no such sense.

"This place is boring! I demand you show me something more interesting!" He screeched.

Zori growled, fluffing up her water-logged fur. "I'll show you boring, you br-"

Luna covered Zori's mouth with one hand, holding the temperamental Eevee away from their client. "Yes sir." The Cubone answered, her voice twinging with irritation. She released Zori, and the Eevee swam in a circle, thoroughly annoyed.

The slow, deep singing returned, and this time, all three Pokemon heard it. Zori pricked her ears, forgetting about the Elekid. "Whoa... What IS that?" She asked softly, awed by the beauty of the strange creature's voice. It was a Pokemon, right? What else could have made a noise like that?

Luna shook her head helplessly. "It's the voice I heard earlier... I don't know what it is, but it seems to be getting louder the closer that we get to the bottom." The Cubone noted cautiously. She didn't want the Elekid to hear that. Of course, he did. Just their luck.

The Elekid swung his arm around, pointing a finger directly at the Sun Guilders. Zori flattened her ears, and Luna seemed uncomfortable. "I demand that you take me to the bottom, and show me what made that noise!" He snapped arrogantly.

Zori groaned. "Fine. But you'll follow our orders on the way down there. If we tell you to stand down, or get the heck out of here, you do it. Got that?" The Eevee noted sharply, lashing her tail. "We're a rescue team, not slaves. We have no intention of following your every order. It's our job to let you explore, and keep you safe, not be dragged around like rag-dolls." Her voice had an icy edge to it; she was clearly tired of being ordered around by the younger Elekid.

"FINE." The Elekid snapped back.

Zori sighed softly. Why did all of their clients have to be so bad-tempered and irritating? Luna tugged on her tail, pulling her through the water as she swam.

The little Eevee curled her body to look at the Cubone, curiosity sparking in her eyes. "So which path do you suggest that we take?" Her tone was still a little cold, but she'd calmed down.

"If we take that route, through the corals, we could end up trapped if anything comes our way. I think that we should take to the open-water, but stay near the coral, just in case we need somewhere to hide."

The Elekid crossed his arms impatiently, but said nothing, as was agreed to.

Zori nodded sharply. "That sounds like a decent plan to me." She agreed, sliding her tail out of Luna's grasp. She led the way through the water, swishing her tail from side to side like a fish. Luna followed closely behind, the Elekid at her side. Zori didn't seem to mind. Luna would absorb all of the electrical charge that the Elekid released, but it wouldn't hurt her one bit. Zori, on the other hand, was soaked to the bone, and didn't have resistance to electricity. That, and she liked not having her ears chattered off. ....Unless it was Legacy.

The Eevee shook her charcoal head, the silver swirls on her fur glistening. There was no room for daydreaming in the middle of a mission.

A soft crooning noise alerted their attention. Zori spun around, as did her companions. Large shadows were cast across the coral beds. They were almost circular in shape. Some thing nudged the back of Zori's head, and she jumped slightly. The Eevee turned again, coming face to face with a playful little Wailmer. The rest of it's group floated serenely around. Zori giggled, rubbing the Wailmer's nose. It crooned again, and floated happily off to it's mother, rejoining the larger Wailmer and their group. "Wailmer are so cute~" Zori noted, doing a playful back-flip. Water was so nice to move around in.

Luna nodded, and the Elekid was staring at them with wide eyes. "They're huge!" He cried out in shock. He'd always thought that they'd be smaller than that. Never had he considered that they'd be bigger than an Electivire, the final evolution of his own species. A Wailmer playfully bumped into him, and the Elekid hesitantly stroked the Water-type's smooth, rubbery skin, being careful not to shock it.

The Wailmer clustered around the group, blowing curious bubbles and looking happy in general. "This explains why none of the smaller Pokemon live here, Zori. Nothing can compete with a Wailer when it comes to needing underwater food sources." Except their evolutions, of course. But Wailord were HUGE. There was no way that they could live in these shallow seas anyway.

The Wailmer began to scatter, heading for deeper water as fast as their large, blubbery bodies could carry them. Zori watched them leave, confused. "Where are they going?" She asked, her tone filled with unease. Luna shrugged in response, and the Elekid just looked around, trying to find the source of the Wailer's fear.

An earth-shattering roar alerted everyone's attention at once. Zori turned flattening her ears with wide eyes. "HIDE!" She screamed, diving down toward the coral. Luna grabbed the Elekid by the wrist, diving after the Eevee. They crammed into a crack in the coral bed, squished tightly together. A massive set of jaws rammed into the coral, trying to reach them. Sharp fangs the side of Zori's entire body came unnervingly close to taking off Luna's head, and the Ground-type squished further down into the crack.

Zori scratched dirt off the sea floor, using Sand Attack to fling a massive cloud of sand into the Gyarados' face. It roared in anger, shaking it's head to clear the sand from it's eyes. Zori grabbed onto Luna's arm, pulling the Cubone closer and reaching into the bag she had slung around her shoulder. She pulled out a smooth, shiny disk, and smashed it against her chest. It seemed to melt into her body, instead of shattering. Sand and bits of coral rained down on their heads, and Zori reared back, firing off a powerful Dark Pulse into the Gyarados' face.

Luna cheered, squeezing out of the gap while she still could. She swung her bone club around, hitting the Gyarados in the side of the face with a Bone Club. It turned.

Zori hit it with another Dark Pulse. It turned back her way.

Luna swam around behind it, charging into the back of it's head with a Skull Bash.

Again and again they attacked, twirling and diving all around the massive Water-Flying type, it's dragon-like body twisting and weaving to try and keep up with the smaller, faster beings. It plunged an Ice Fang into the ground, getting it's fangs stuck in the coral beds. It roared, twisting to try and get free. Zori and Luna circled around, taking the advantage. Zori fired off a final Dark Pulse, and Luna used Bonemerang, both powerful attacks hitting it straight between the eyes. A sudden Thunderbolt charged through the open water, hitting only seconds after Zori and Luna's attacks. The Gyarados let out a final roar as it broke free of the coral, and sank down to the ground, out cold.

Zori and Luna gasped for breath, the former hurriedly grabbing the Elekid's arm, and leading the way out of there. They swam deeper, trying to get down and away from the Gyarados before it woke up. No one wanted to be near that thing when it woke up. Especially since it would most likely have a killed headache when it did.

Floors 11-15

The Elekid had been blissfully quiet since the attack of the Gyarados. The coral beds beneath had faded to open sand, and the trip had been clinging rather stubbornly to the ground as they swam along. It had been Luna's plan that they would be less likely to be noticed if they stayed close to the ground, and no one had been able to go against her logic. The open ocean was dangerous. They'd have to be increasingly careful. After all, if Gyarados hunted in the coral, no one wanted to know what might be lurking out here.

The school of Wailmer floated mildly far above, looking at peace in the cool waters. Zori found herself watching them with increasing interest. The way they moved, the sounds they made. If they reacted to something, she'd turn around and look. They were like a warning system.

A small school of rather ugly-looking fish passed by, one of them smacking Elekid in the face with it's ragged tail. The Electric-type shocked it instinctively. The school turned on them, enraged by the injury done. Zori used Headbutt, smashing her furry little skull into one of their sides. They didn't make noise, other than vague thrashing or bubbling noises.

Luna swung around her club a few times, clearing the area around her of Feebas.

The ugly fish darted at Zori, who was quickly growing tired of their presence. She fired off a Dark Pulse again, watching the shadowy waves of energy ram into the Feebas school. They floated down to the sandy bottom, beaten.

Luna grabbed Zori by the scruff, still holding onto the Elekid's wrist. "Let's move." She decided sharply, not leaving room for argument as she half-dragged the two over the sands.

Eventually, the Cubone released them, and they swam freely at her sides, not bothering to question her logic. The Cubone must've heard something coming with her enhanced hearing, and gotten them away from there. No one could argue with the hearing of a blind woman. It just wasn't wise.

The Cubone watched the Elekid carefully with her good eye, her blind one turned toward Zori. The Eevee recognized this as a tactic to protect their client. Zori could be trusted to hold her own in a fight, and keep herself out of trouble, but the much younger Elekid needed a bit of babysitting.

They paused on a ridge, settling down to eat. Luna fulled out some apples, and she and Zori chowed down. The Elekid rested on it's back in the sand nearby, being careful to keep within eyesight of the two stronger Pokemon. It didn't want to repeat the mistake it had made previously. Neither did Luna, apparently, who still had her eye trained on the form of the young Elekid.

"We should probably find out the safest path to go down from here. I think the terrain changes. Not only that, but the water's darker already. Soon we won't have much light from the surface. We could end up swimming blind." Zori flicked her ears, not sounding terribly pleased with the idea. To be stuck blindly at the bottom of the sea in pitch darkness did not sound fun, especially since the little bubble-like beads they'd swallowed could only provide them with water-breathing abilities for so long.

"The Elekid probably has some way of making light. He's an Electric-type, and he's the one who dragged us down here. He wouldn't come without bringing a source of light, would he?"

Zori sighed softly. "I suppose you're right, Luna."

After a while of lying in the soft sand, Zori flicked her ears. "We should probably get moving again." She murmured lazily.

Luna groaned in response. "But I don't want to go." The Cubone muttered drowsily. She was fine right here, curling up in the sand.

Zori sighed and pulled the tired Cubone to her feet. "Come on, Luna. ...Elekid, get up." She added, turning to glance at the Electric-type. He got to his feet slowly and obediently.

Zori gestured toward the deep. "Right guys. Our path leads that way." The charcoal and silver Eevee noted, her dark fur blending a little bit with the shadowy water. The silver swirls, however, did not, gleaming slightly. The sapphire pendant strung around her neck glowed faintly in the darker water as well, making her wonder if it would get brighter the deeper that they got to the bottom. Hopefully it would. Any light was good light, right?

Luna seemed unsure for a moment, but nodded firmly.

Elekid just looked excited. "So we're finally heading down into the dark water, right?!" He asked eagerly.

Luna and Zori looked at each other and nodded again. "Yes. Let's get moving." The trio headed down for the deeper water, with Zori in the lead, followed by Luna and the Elekid swimming side-by-side. The Eevee's pendant glowed faintly in the shadows. It was like a little lantern strung around Zori's neck, giving off an eerie blue light. It reflected off of Zori's silver-swirled fur and golden eyes, making her seem to glow as well. It was odd, but very pretty. And Luna now understood why Zori kept her pendant under her pillow at night.

The trip stayed rather quiet as they descended deeper into the sea, the darkness growing strong until it engulfed all but them, cast in the soft, sapphire light of Zori's pendant, and the golden glow of Elekid's electrically-charged body.

Zori could hear more than see, despite the glowing pendant around her neck. Faintly glowing lights bobbed up ahead, moving around like Volbeat and Illumise in the night skies. It sparked her curiosity, and clearly, she wasn't alone in her thoughts.

"They're so pretty~" Luna murmured in awe.

Zori nodded, following the Elekid, who had swam up ahead of her to go and investigate further. She couldn't help but wonder what they were. Volbeat and Illumise didn't venture down here, and she was pretty sure that they were the only rescue team down this deep into the water.

As they drew nearer, so did the lights. Whatever they were seemed to move closer, as though curious about the blue glow that Zori's necklace gave off. Maybe having a light was a bad idea...

One light in particular came closer. And suddenly, they could make out the figure behind the light. A Chinchou. That explained a lot. Seeing the trio and recognizing them as something other than it's species, however, the Chinchou became angry. Sparks shot off it's little glowing body.

Zori backed away slightly, ad Luna did the same, pulling the Elekid in behind her. Zori growled, baring her teeth as she floated there in the dark water. The Chinchou shot off a Thundershock, and Zori retaliated, breaking through the weak Electric attack with her Dark Pulse. It hit the Chinchou and sent it spinning backward. It twirled around and came back, firing various Electric-type attacks in every direction. Luna stepped in, brandishing her bone club. She struck the Chinchou in the skull with it, and sent it scurrying out across the sands, terrified, and probably with a serious headache.

The group made their way deeper into the water, moving as quietly and quickly as they could. They moved farther away until the light of the Chinchou couldn't be seen anymore.

Zori glanced over at Luna and the Elekid. "Let's avoid random glowing lights from now on..." She advised, the guilt of having technically started that fight showing in her expression.

Luna nodded in agreement. "It probably mistook you for another Chinchou or something, because of the way that pendant glows." The Cubone noted.

Zori felt further guilt spread across her body, her ears drooping sideways. "Yeah. I know."

Luna took the lead, gripping her bone club tightly as she took off into the darkness. The Elekid followed.

Zori hesitated for a moment, before she, too, plunged into the shadows, leaving any ounce of the surface's sunlight behind. The only light came from the pendant around her neck.

Floors 16 - 20

Zori had been forced to take the lead, the pendant around her neck lighting the way for her teammates. The water only got darker the deeper that they dove. It felt claustrophobic. Maybe it was the pressure of the water around them that made it feel that way. In any case, their trio clung pretty close together; Luna and the Elekid didn't want to be out of the range of the light.

Zori swam on slightly ahead of the others, leading the way.

"I wonder what sort of stuff you could find down here?" The Elekid asked curiously.

"Not a lot, I'm guessing. Maybe some carnivorous Water-types, more Chinchou, and some deep-water coral." Luna replied quietly, clutching her bone club tight to her chest as she swam just behind the Electric-type.

Zori shuddered slightly. Hungry carnivores were not her idea of a nice little stroll on the ocean floor. If anything, the fact that they could barely see a few feet in front of them only made that thought worse.

A flurry of movement in the shadows attracted Luna's attention, and she paused. Zori and the Elekid stopped, too, sticking close to the Cubone. The Elekid's body crackled with electricity. "What is it, Luna?" The Eevee asked her friend quietly.

"I saw something move." The Cubone pointed with her bone club. "Right about there."

Zori followed Luna's gaze.

Suddenly, the entire group flinched, leaping back as a rather large Sharpedo came tearing out of the deep, it's enormous fangs sinking into Luna's bone club and breaking it into two. Zori yelped, and dodged sideways, pulling the Elekid with her. She snarled fiercely, showing off her fangs, tiny in comparison to the Sharpedo's. Her dark tail lashed with anger.

Luna pulled out another club, having come prepared, and smashed it into the side of the Sharpedo's head. It barely did anything to the powerful Water-type. It turned on her, looking extremely angry.

Zori leaped toward it, blasting of a Dark Pulse. It hit the Sharpedo, and instead turned on her, seeming more irritated than injured. It was part Dark-type, and a Dark Pulse was not going to help their situation by much at all.

Zori backed away, twitching slightly. Sharpedos had very rough skin. If she tried to attack it with any of her other moves, she'd have to touch it, and that would NOT be good. Not at all. She growled as threateningly as she could manage, and it charged at her. She dived sideways again, rolling into the sand. The Elekid followed the suit, crouching in behind Zori. He was trembling with fear.

The Sharpedo gave a sharp howl of pain, thrashing in the water. Zori cringed, flattening herself against the cold sand. The Elekid mimicked her, and both narrowly avoided getting smacked in the face by the flailing Sharpedo. Another crash, and the Sharpedo swam off to find less irritating prey, blood trailing from it's gills.

A rather dazed-looking Cubone wobbled over, straightening her bone helmet. Her intact bone club was strapped to her side, as were the two broken pieces of the first one. It was apparent that she'd used Skull Bash, using the helmet to protect herself from the Sharpedo's rough skin.

Zori swam over, placing an anxious paw on the Cubone's shoulder. Luna slurred out something that sounded vaguely like 'I'm good' before she passed out cold. Zori held the unconscious Pokemon in her arms, looking rather uncertain as to what they were supposed to do from this point on. Even her client seemed rather confused as to what to do.

Neither of them were good enough swimmers to carry Luna back to the surface, but they couldn't just wait here... The awkward silence lasted for a few moments, when a voice called out from the waters.

Part Two...

"Zori?! Luna?!" A rather familiar looking Mudkip swam into view, looking incredibly worried, but otherwise comfortable in the cold, dark waters. Kai didn't need to see. His sonar told him exactly where he was.

He swam up to them, and Zori carefully shifted Luna to lie on the shiny Mudkip's back. Kai frowned slightly. "Are you guys okay? What happened?" He asked quietly.

Zori nodded. "Elekid and I are alright, but Luna went head to head with a Sharpedo. Literally." She murmured quietly, taking the bag off of Luna, and strapping it to her own body to take some of the weight off of Kai's back.

The Elekid nodded. "It was HUGE. I'd hate to see what a Wailord would be like!" The Electric-type noted excitedly, clapping his hands together, and shooting off a few sparks as he did so.

Zori laughed. "Wailord are big, but they're not aggressive. They're as docile as the Wailmer we saw earlier!" She corrected.

Kai rolled his eyes, adjusting Luna so that she wouldn't fall off. "Come on; let's get this mission over with so that we can get out of here."

Zori nodded, letting Kai lead the way into the deeper water, happy that Kaiyou had the common sense to follow them down into the sea. She hadn't really thought about bringing him with them originally. She'd thought that he'd still be tired from the last one. She'd guessed wrong. Kai had amazing stamina.

Traveling was much easier when Kai was with them. His sonar allowed them to avoid the larger, more aggressive Pokemon as they swam, and he could adjust their course to find the easiest way down.

Zori silently decided that Kai would be accompanying her on most missions. He was definitely a decent addition to their team. She understood now how Suki's opinion of the Mudkip had changed so drastically on their mission together. He was just reliable all the time.

A faint, reddish glow appeared up ahead, and Kai motioned for them to stay low, frowning. "I can't quite tell what they are. It's like they're made made of gel or something..." His voice was quiet, but steady.

Zori and the Elekid swam cautiously behind him, with the former swiping a gentle paw over her sapphire pendant to dim the glow.

As they swam closer, Zori realized why Kai wasn't taking them away from the glowing creatures. They were everywhere. There just wasn't really a way around them. Thousands of Tentacool floated just a few feet over their heads. Zori gasped quietly in surprise, watching them cautiously as she swam along behind Kai.

That explained why the Mudkip couldn't tell what they were with his sonar. Their large numbers and jelly-like bodies made it difficult for him. They all blended together.

Although the Tentacool seemed very calm, the charcoal Eevee couldn't help but keep an eye on them. It was possible that there might be a Tentacruel in there, and not by any means did she want to run into one of them. They were big and bad-tempered. She did have to admit that Sharpedo were worse, though. Especially now that Kai was here; they'd be fine as long as they didn't bother any of the Tentacool, she supposed.

The Elekid grabbed onto her tail with one hand, using it as a sort of reassurance that there was someone else there to keep him safe from all of the deadly toxins that the Tentacool carried in their tentacles. Pretty as they were, it was still a bad idea to tick them off. Sort of like how the patterns on the belly of an Arbok were pretty, or the markings on a Sharpedo...

Kai paused, looking uncertain and uneasy. Zori stopped behind him, glancing around cautiously. "Why are we stopping here, Kaiyou...? This isn't a great spot to stop for a break...." The Eevee whispered nervously. The Mudkip didn't reply for a few moments.

"Tentacruel..." The Water-type whispered back. Zori stiffened, and the Elekid hid behind her fluffy tail, looking rather frightened. His haughty nature and overly-proud attitude had disappeared ever since he'd come face to face with actual danger. He was just a little kid out in a very scary part of the sea.

The Eevee flicked her silver-swirled ears, watching the ruby glow in front of her. It grew stronger and stronger, until a rather large Tentacruel was visible in their sights. Zori gulped quietly. That was a lot more tentacles than a Tentacool's two. That also meant that there was a lot more poison to kill them with.

The Tentacruel shot off a Poison Sting at them, and Kai brought up a Protect without hesitation, growling threateningly. The Tentacool around them began to stir. This was anything but good.

Under the protective shield of Kai's Protect, the trio darted into the deeper water to escape the danger, with an unconscious Cubone still clinging to Kai's back.

Floors 21 - 25

Zori fired off a Dark Pulse, tucking in her paws and rolling to avoid another Poison Sting. Kai was busy trying to keep up a proper Protect to defend their client, the Elekid, from any attacks. Zori had a strong feeling that he wouldn't be returning to the Swirling Sea anytime soon.

Zori narrowly avoided a Poison Jab, flattening her ears in alarm. They'd managed to out-swim the Tentacool, luckily, but the Tentacruel and it's companion had kept up the chase. And boy did Zori not like their company. She bit down hard on a tentacle as it lashed out toward her. The Tentacruel lashed out with some more, and Kai came up behind her, hitting the Tentacruel squarely in the face with a Hydro Pump.

The Tentacruel shook, waving it's toxic tentacles around. Zori and Kai ducked low to the ground, using a light Protect to deflect the tentacles away from them.

Kaiyou leaped forward, and Zori shifted over to stand between Elekid and the Tentacruel. Kai used Mud Slap, whipping up a bunch of mud off the sea floor and slamming it into the Tentacruel's eyes. It thrashed about for a bit, giving them time to focus on the second one. He used another Mud Slap, quickly followed by a Hydro Pump.

The second Tentacruel screeched, lashing out at Kaiyou with a long, dark tentacle. It wrapped tightly around his little violet body, using Constrict to bind his tiny body. The Mudkip squealed in pain, twisted and squirming as he tried to break free of the Tentacruel's grasp.

Zori bounded forward with a massive leap, landing square on the Tentacruel's face. She used Bite, her sharp fangs digging into the jelly-like flesh of the Water-type. She inhales as she bit down, summoning the energy required, and she spat a Dark Pulse directly into the bite wound. The Tentacruel didn't exactly find it pleasant. It thrashed as the shadowy energy traveled through it's body like a wave of electricity. It threw Zori off, and she hit the sand. It released Kai as well, and disappeared into the shadows. Zori's pendant cast an eerie blue glow over the battlefield as the remaining Tentacruel recovered from the attack.

It reared up, about to slam it's tentacles down on Zori's fluffy little body.

WHAM. It howled it pain, having received a Bone Club to the face. Luna floated in the way, twirling a bone around her fingers with expert precision. Her expression was deadly. If looks could kill, every Tentacruel in the sea would float belly-side up.

The Tentacruel swung it's tentacles around again, trying to grab a hold of the irritating little creature in it's way. Luna met the swing with another Bone Club, knocking the attack off center enough to dodge. She then shot a Bonemerang into the eye-like ruby blotches on the Tentacruel's head. It didn't appreciate this, to say the least.

It flailed around in pain, and Luna took advantage of the situation, running along he sandy seafloor and springing up at the last second, using Skull Bash directly between the Tentacruel's eyes.

The Cubone landed on her feet, looking dazed, but relatively unharmed. The Tentacruel floated away on the water's currents, having fainted.

She swung her little club proudly, and returned to Zori's side, tapping the little Eevee on the head. Zori smiled proudly, accepting the Cubone's help and rising back onto her paws. Together, they moved over to Kai and the Elekid. The Elekid was holding the little violet Water-type in it's arms, looking both nervous and awed as a result of the battle.

"Enough excitement for you?" Zori asked it dryly, although one could swear that there was a touch of humor in her voice.

The Mudkip stirred slightly, and the Elekid let go, letting the Water-type float out of his arms as he began to wake up again. "And just think. One day, we might be able to get through a mission without someone passing out." He noted, his tone just as dry and irritated as Zori's.

Luna snorted, slightly amused. This was her first mission, so she didn't really understand that last part. Some sort of inside joke. She'd hear about it later. "Come on, then. Let's get the heck out of this place." She nudged Zori lightly with her club.

The now fully-functioning group of four carried on, being extra careful to avoid potential enemies as they went.

Kai took the position next to Zori at the head of the group, her glowing pendant and his sonar giving them a fairly good idea of what was ahead in the shadowy waters. Luna and the Elekid brought up the rear, the Ground-type absorbing any static off of their client to avoid attracting any curious Pokemon with the energy. That, and Luna was the most difficult to annoy, so the Elekid's quiet chatter wouldn't bother her while she kept an eye on him. But they didn't tell him that.

It was only after a little while that Kai altered their course again, motioning for the group to speed up a little bit. They were now traveling on an angle, as opposed to their previously straight path.

"Kai? What's going on? Is there a-" Zori's soft voice was cut off by Kai whipping a paw over her mouth.

He motioned for them all to be as quiet as possible, leading them down the slope a little bit farther. No one argued against his no-speaking rule. No one wanted to be proven wrong or become the reason that they were attacked.

Kai paused again, motioning for them to lie flat against the sand. They did as told, and the light of Zori's pendant was doused, engulfing them in total darkness. Something incredibly large floated over their heads with a roar. Elekid quivered with fear. The others stayed perfectly still, not wanting to attract any kind of attention. A second body rushed over their heads in the dark, this one roaring at the top of it's lungs. Zori's ears twitched. She'd recognize that roar anywhere. Gyarados. They're crossed paths with a group of hunting Gyarados. Would they ever get a break?

They lay still for what seemed the longest time, until the Gyarados and it's mate had disappeared from earshot.

A smooth paw tapped Zori's shoulder, and she got up, dusting off her pendant and showing their group yet again in it's dim light. Luna helped the Elekid to it's feet, and the pair shuffled in closer to Zori and Kai.

"It sounded like they were headed in our direction of travel. Is it possible that we might run into them again?" The Cubone asked quietly.

Kaiyou sighed heavily. "Unfortunately, you're right. We'll have to be on our guard the whole way down." The purple Mudkip did not look pleased at the idea of running into the Gyarados pair again.

Zori winced. "We've already had to deal with one of those suckers today. Back at the coral reefs. I'm not eager to fight another. Especially not if it has a friend."

Kai blinked in confusion. "The reefs? Gyarados don't normally swim up that far unless... You ran into one that just evolved. A young one. Those two were much bigger. A fully-grown pair will make the one back at the reef seem like a walk in the park." The Mudkip told them seriously.

The group nodded in unison. Right. Don't go looking for Gyarados. As if they would anyway.

"Let's get out of here..." The Mudkip added, taking Zori by the paw and half-dragging her back down the path they'd been taking. Luna and the Elekid followed without question, the Elekid, if possible, even more quiet than before.

As the group continued on, Luna leaned over toward the Elekid. "Something bothering you, kid?" She asked him quietly.

"I'm afraid of the dark..." He admitted quietly, tentatively shuffling closer to the Cubone as he nearby tripped over a rock.

"Ah. That would explain it. This isn't really my cup of tea, either. Water is... uncomfortable for my species sometimes." Luna replied calmly, half swimming, half walking next to the Elekid. "Just stay close to us and you'll be alright. Not much is going to get past the three of us at the same time." She assured the Electric-type quietly. She felt sympathy well up inside her. He really was just a child. An adventurous child, but a child all the same. She took him by the hand, and drew him in closer toward Zori. The light from her pendant would keep him feeling a little more comfortable, hopefully.

Floors 26 - 30

The ocean was pitch-black and extremely cold down this far below the surface. The water-logged sand squished strangely underneath their feet, and the lack of light made it difficult to tell where you were going, even with Zori's pendant to light the way. Only Kai could really tell where they were headed. Zori and Luna bother realized that they'd be hopelessly lost without him there.

As they traveled, Luna thought of Gary. The adorable, dim-witted Slowpoke might not have even missed her company. But she missed him all the same. There was something to be said for being a substitute parent; it made you softer. She felt sort of like his older sister. It was a strange feeling, to want to protect the newborn Slowpoke, but not a bad one. The Cubone made a mental note to go and find the little one the moment they returned home.

The Elekid walked next to Luna in complete silence, staring at the ground where he stepped. Every so often he'd see some colourful pebble or a lost little seashell, but there was nothing terribly interesting about this place. That is, until they came upon them. Deep-water coral.

Chinchou and Lantern floated about here, perfectly content to swim amongst the corals. An Octillery swam across the sand near the base of the corals, and a few Wailmer floated overhead.

Zori gasped in surprise and delight. The light from the Chinchou and Lantern lit up the reef surprisingly well. Even the Octillery gave off a slight glow, it seemed. It was different than the corals that grew near shore, but just as breath-taking. They were colourful, unique, and awe-inspiring.

The Pokemon down here seemed relatively docile, so they split into two groups. Luna and Zori went with Elekid, to ensure his safety as he explored the reef. Kai went his own way, patrolling the area to watch for any signs of predatory Pokemon. The Octillery would have to be kept an eye on, but the Chinchou and Lantern here seemed by far more docile than the Chinchou they'd encountered at higher depths.

As Kai swam about, keeping an eye on the Pokemon native to the reefs, Elekid was exploring every inch of the place.

The young Electric-type seemed to have regained his curiosity. He shoved his head between two corals, coming face to face with a Chinchou. The surprised Pokemon flitted away, heading back to it's parent Lanturn. Elekid giggled, and moved on, swimming over to a group of Remoraid. He reached out and touched one of their scaly bodies before it flitted away into the depths of the coral.

Luna watched, smiling underneath her skull helmet. Zori flicked an ear, brushing it against Luna's shoulder as she did so. The Cubone glanced at her. "Is something up?" She asked, moving off again to follow the ever curious Elekid.

Zori nodded. "I think I can hear something moving out there." She murmured back, gesturing with a vague paw toward the open, black ocean.

Luna frowned, but said nothing, catching up to the Elekid and grabbing a gentle hold on his arm, drawing him back toward the safer, inner section of the corals. "Stay close, alright?" She told the Electric-type sternly before letting him go again.

The Elekid nodded, and began to explore some more of the reef, being careful to stay within a few few of the Cubone.

Zori motioned to Kai to come over to them. "Hey Kaiyou? You sense anything out there?" She asked the Mudkip quietly.

The Mudkip turned his head, searching the depths beyond the reef. "Yeah. The Gyarados are out there. They followed us here, I think. This might be their hunting grounds."

Zori shivered uncomfortably. "If this is their hunting grounds, why are they hanging around the edges like that? It's like they're nervous of coming closer." She asked, frowning. Any hungry land predator would've struck by now. There was no way that anyone would wait like that for so long when they could already be eating.

Kaiyou glanced around them. "It's probably because the Lanturn are here. They're partially Electric-types, and Gyarados are particularly weak to that. I have a hunch that these are the Lanturn's breeding grounds, where they raise their Chinchou. The Octillery probably do the same, using the Lanturn as protection against the Gyarados. The coral would offer a place to hide for young of both species. But I don't think that there's enough food here to sustain the adults and young at the same time, so the Lanturn and Octillery probably leave at regular intervals to find food..."

Zori nodded, understanding where this was leading. "And so the Gyarados wait until after the adults have left before striking the reef to get themselves a decent meal." She finished. The charcoal and silver Eevee looked around at the busy reef. "If the Gyarados are waiting, then it won't be long before the Lanturn and Octillery leave for food, then. The young will be left to fend for themselves, and the Gyarados will come in. We can't still be hanging around when that happens, then." Zori noted, watching Luna pull the Elekid away from a particularly curious Chinchou. The pair of young Electric-types were shooting sparks at each other.

Luna held a slightly squirmy Elekid in her arms, frowning as she noticed that some of the Lanturn has disappeared. Those that remained were on their way out, and the Octillery was already gone. She swallowed. "Zori; what's going on?" She called out nervously.

Zori flattened her ears, and rushed over to the pair, motioning for the Elekid to stop squirming. Kai followed Zori in close. "That's our cue to leave, Luna." He told the Cubone seriously.

The Ground-type and their client seemed confused, but followed them none-the-less as Zori and Kai tried to lead them out of the reefs. They stretched on for quite a while. It was very pretty, but the disappearance of the Lanturn and Octillery caused an unusual, eerie silence to fall over the reef. Even the normally playful baby Chinchou seemed uncomfortable.

A loud crashing noise somewhere behind them made Zori turn, her ears flat. A massive Gyarados was snapping up some of the Chinchou. It was feeding time. "RUN!" She yelled.

Kai put on a burst of speed, and Luna grabbed onto the Elekid, following the suit. Zori grabbed onto the Elekid's other arm, swimming as fast as she could to help. The child kicked it's legs. The group of three managed to keep up with Kai, who was well-accustomed to swimming. It was easy for him.

The noise was incredible. The pair of hunting Gyarados were not quiet about taking their meal. Nor did they have to be. The young Chinchou were not a challenge, despite their type advantage over the much larger predators.

Just as the trio reached the edge of the reefs, an enormous shadow loomed over them. Bigger than the Gyarados. Bigger than anything any of them had ever seen. A Wailord. Zori's eyes widened, her ears folding flat against her head in awe. The mammoth Pokemon ducked it's head down, it's huge jaws opening wide. It swallowed a group of Chinchou and Remoraid in one gulp. Another Wailord did something similar, although this one took a Gyarados with it.

Kaiyou hurriedly ushered the group away from the reefs. The pod of feeding Wailord were incredibly dangerous. Docile as they were, it would be deadly to hang around here any longer. Even the most soft-hearted creature had to eat.

They didn't stop running until the Wailord pod was out of sight. They were all breathing hard. No one could really say anything about what they'd just escaped from. The reef ha been beautiful, but it was also much more dangerous than they'd originally thought.

"You weren't kidding... when you told us that Wailord were big, Kaiyou..."

The shiny 'kip nodded in response. "Wailord. The biggest thing in the ocean. Also the one with the biggest mouth." He noted with a grin.

No one could argue with that statement. Especially not Elekid. He was shaking, but he looked extremely excited. "THAT WAS AWESOME! I knew they'd be big; but that was just insane! They were just like fwoosh! Did you see the way they snapped up that Gyarados?! It was like they didn't even notice it!" The Elekid's chatter went on like that for several minutes while the others caught their breath some more.

The little Electric-type continued on further, even after they'd picked up where they'd left off, and headed deeper into the sea.

Floor 31

Far off from the deep-water corals, and even farther from the shoreline, Kaiyou, Zori, Luna, and the Elekid walked along the base of the Swirling Sea. Their mission was nearly over, but they didn't let their guard down too low. There were many things in the sea, and they weren't eager to come face to face with something more dangerous than what they'd already encountered.

The water this deep was icy. The pressure was incredible, weighing down their steps as if they walked with lead strapped to their backs. It was strange. Like they walked into another world.

A slow, deep singing attracted the attention of everyone in the group. They'd heard it before; closer to the surface. But now it was much, much louder. And all the more haunting.

In total silence, the group progressed closer to the sound, silenced by the awe-inspiring voice. It was something big. Not as big as a Wailord, but it probably still dwarfed a Gyarados.

Out of the deep, a faint, ruby-toned glow was visible from the very bottom of the sea. It shone more spectacularly than Zori's pendant by far.

Glowing tribal markings covered the body of what appeared to be some kind of Pokemon. The noise it made was enough to inspire curiousity, but no one got closer. Whatever it was, it was sleeping, and waking it up was a poor idea at best.

And so they stayed there, watching and waiting. It wasn't long before the silence was broken again.

Zori coughed, her lungs aching. After a few moments, a smooth, shiny bead popped out of her mouth, and the little Eevee held her throat with her paws, holding her breath.

Luna could feel her own lungs beginning to tire as well. It was definitely time to leave.

The Cubone grabbed the Elekid and Zori in her arms, and Kai pulled out their team badge. The metal symbol flashed, and all four Pokemon disappeared from the bottom of the sea.

The Guild

The soaking-wet trio from Team Stormcloud dropped down onto dry ground, following by their client; Elekid.

Zori coughed, taking in deep lungfuls of fresh air. She held a now useless shiny bead in her paws. Luna coughed up hers moments later. They were glad to not have coughed them up sooner. It would've been incredibly bad to run out of air before the mission's end.

Kai simply shook his little body, not bothered by the transition from breathing air to breathing water. He hadn't even needed a bead. He could breathe water just fine.

And so ended Team Stormcloud's adventure in the depths of Swirling Sea.

Once back in the safe, dry guild, the Elekid attempted to wipe some of the water from his fur before addressing the team.
"Well, life threatening danger and waterlogging aside, that was pretty fun!"
He extended a small bag towards Zori with a grin.
"So fun in fact, that as well as your bonus 2000PD and Thunderstone I was wondering if you'd let me join your team as well!"
As he spoke a small cluster of Pokemon gathered at the guild entrance. A cackling Feebas, a blissfully floating Chinchou and a scary-looking Sharpedo.
Each wanted to join the team.

Zori & Kai & Luna

Zori shook her head politely at the Elekid as a no thanks, and motioned for the Chinchou to come over to them.
It bobbed in the air and floated over, shooting off little static sparks with joy.
Luna accepted their team's reward graciously, looking delighted. The Thunderstone was the one part of the reward that she hadn't told Zori about; she'd be so surprised!
The Cubone gave the Elekid a one-armed hug before Team Stormcloud left with their new Chinchou friend, ready for a decent night's sleep.

Team Glacé, which they weren’t anymore due to Eve’s cold, looked at the mission board knowingly. ”Jesus! I wish Eve were here! I sooo can’t do a mission with just Dash.” Noelle pouted and looked away from the tiny Pichu.

”HEY! Eve said we needed the money! And she wouldn’t let you go alone, and since I’M part of the team now, I get to come with you!” The Pichu’s cheeks sparked, and Noelle backed off.

”Okay, just don’t hurt yourself. Your electric moves are too powerful for a little thing like you.” She cast her gaze back to the bulletin board, and squinted. Dash grew impatient and ripped a flier off the board, and thrust it towards the Eevee as a sign that they were doing this mission. Noelle shrugged, looked at the reward, and nodded. This would be their next mission.

Without realizing the actual strain that this mission would cause for the two little Pokemon, they both got on the boat to the Swirling Sea. It was when they were almost there that Noelle actually looked at the mission. ”YOWZA! We have to go TWENTY-FIVE FLOORS, Dash. OH NO AND WE HAVE TO BEAT UP A MILOTIC! We can’t do this mission, we have to back off.” She ran to the boat captain, a Squirtle, and pleaded that they be let off. After quickly denying their request, he told them that once the boat was going there, it couldn’t stop. They were just going to have to do the mission and hope they didn’t fail.

They arrived rather quickly, as it wasn’t too far into the ocean, and the Squirtle stopped the boat to let everyone off. There wasn’t too many Pokemon on the boat, just a few that actually lived in the ocean. There was a Magikarp and an Octillery getting off with them. They looked at the two rescuers with angry glares and sped off the boat into the water. ”Ay. Since you two aren’t water Pokemon, ye might want to take a quick visit to the shack over there.” The Squirtle said as they were getting off. The two small Pokemon nodded and stepped onto the island with only a shack and a palm tree.

As soon as Dash felt the soft sand on the island, he immediately forgot the point of going here and fell into the sand. ”Wow wow!! This sand is soooo soft~! And it’s warm too! Nyaaahh~ Let’s stay here all day, Noelle.” The young Pichu giggled to himself and dug his face in the sand. Noelle blew a raspberry at him, told him to wait here for the client, and left the Pichu to go to the shack.

The Eevee walked in, and a happy Azumarill popped up from under the counter and smiled wide. ”Hey hey! What can I do for yous? I bet you need Air Beads, right? That’s all anyone ever comes here for.” He shrugged, and got a box out from underneath the counter. ”How many? And I need to tell you something about them. They last however long you need them. So don’t worry!” He said as he asked.

Noelle put two fingers up and received the Air Beads. They were clear and felt like glass. After quick instructions, he beckoned for her to leave to get on with whatever she was doing here. Noelle felt a little bad that she wouldn’t be paying, but quickly shrugged it off.

When Noelle got out the client was here, next to Dash. The Eevee quickly greeted her and motioned for Dash to get out of the sand. He shook his head violently and crossed his arms. She apologized to the Jynx. ”Sooo, you want us to go to the 25th floor and beat up a huge Milotic? Umm… Okay…! Noelle said weakly. The Jynx nodded and held out some rewards, and exclaimed that if she got what she wanted, they could have these rewards. They nodded and parted ways.

After Jynx had left, Noelle tossed one of the air beads to Dash with instructions to swallow it and jump into the water.

”No. I’m not swallowing this. It’s too big! NO NO NO!” Dash wailed and had a tantrum there on the sand after receiving the Air Bead. Noelle groaned and quickly swallowed hers easily. She had to admit they were very big for a tiny Pokemon like her and Dash to swallow, but the glassy texture also made them very easy to swallow then.

”Fine. You think I care if you drown? Only Eve cares.” And with that the Eevee jumped into the water and dived down to a nearby coral. Up on the surface, Dash gasped loudly and panicked. He needed someone to talk to him! He hesitated to swallow the bead but did as fast as he could and nearly choked it was so large, but somehow he got it down and jumped into the water at lightning speed and screamed at Noelle to wait up.

Now with both members a little bit under the surface of the water, Noelle and Dash fully began to take in the sights of this beautiful reef. It was really colorful, and Noelle let out a light ‘wow’. She wished she was a water Pokemon, because then she could go under water and see pretty things underwater whenever she wanted. She swam down but turned back because she remembered she had Dash with her.

”DASH! COME ON! Stop rolling in the seaweed; it’s gross!” She made a face at how she sounded under water. It sounded like… well… she was underwater. The Eevee swam over to Dash, who had gotten himself stuck in the seaweed.

”Jesus Christ!” Noelle bit his ear and tugged on it to get him loose. ”If this is how the rest of the mission is going to turn out I’m really afraid for our lives.” After she let go of Dash’s ear he wouldn’t dive deeper. Instead he just wanted to jump around the coral and sleep in the seaweed. Noelle rolled her eyes and chomped on his ear once again, dragging him deeper, ignoring the whimpers coming from the little Pichu.

”I don’t like it when you are mean, Noelle.” Dash said, his arms folded across his chest. He was too lazy to swim, so he just let Noelle drag him down deeper. He compromised and said he wouldn’t talk if she carried him by his foot instead. Upon hearing his this utter, Noelle let go of his foot, letting Dash swim by himself. He pouted for a few seconds, then quickly swam after Noelle in fear of being left behind.

Dash and Noelle were swimming deeper and the seaweed was beginning to go away and the coral was getting less colorful. It was better for one thing though; they could see the enemies in the dungeon more easily. A Magikarp swam towards them, and spotted them as he passed. It let out a quiet ‘carp’ then started wiggling around. The team just stood back and watched it for a couple of seconds, then Dash got tired and electrocuted them, also electrocuting himself and everyone around him, including Noelle.

”This is water you idiot!” Noelle said with a growl in her voice. The Magikarp started to swim away but not before she let out a fierce Body Slam on it, sending it into a piece of brown coral. She swam far away from Dash then nodded to him to attack with an electric move. She felt a little static in the water around her, but she was right, swimming far away before Dash attacked was better for her than taking the whole electrocution thing. At least she would no longer get hurt from Dash’s own power. Noelle didn’t think she could live with herself if she did. Dash was too… little to attack his own teammate. For crying out loud, he was only about 10 years old! How immature.

Noelle sighed and swam down a little more after she realized she beat the Magikarp, and Dash quickly followed, shouting,

”WAIT. UP. My two stubby legs can’t carry me as fast as your four long legs…. OKAY, JUST WAIT UP, PUH-LEASE!” He added as Noelle ignored him once more. They swam deeper, staying to the side of the not-so-colorful-anymore coral.

”Dash, I’m sorry to tell you that I have no idea where we are going.” She said in her watery voice as she looked side to side in the clear water looking for something she could go by. ”The mission said we go down 25 floors, but I don’t know how to measure floors in the ocean, and there is not really any direction where to go. It’s basically just swimming down, fight an enemy or two, and keep swimming down.”

The Eevee shrugged and turned to face Dash. He frowned, and then shrugged in a how-am-I-supposed-to-know kind of way. He suggested swimming down and Noelle started to seethe in frustration and anger at the Pichu’s ignorance of the situation. Noelle didn’t know how far they had gone down, what direction they were swimming, or where they were in the Swirling Sea. Noelle started to yell about how Dash was a stupid weakling little mouse with no courage when a school of random fish Pokemon appeared behind them.

An extremely large Magikarp spoke up. ”Would you guys like some help?” He said, swimming over to the two while signaling the masses of Finneon, other Magikarp, Feebas, Remoraid, and one Wailmer. ”My name is Storm. And I -um- we’d like to help you, if you could possibly tell us what is bothering you at the moment.” He said very politely.

Noelle sent a puzzled look in the direction of the Magikarp. She’d never imagined a Magikarp could talk. All she thought they did was splash and make incessant ‘carp’ sounds. She shook her head and turned towards Storm. But before she could talk, Dash sprang up to him and started shouting.

”WOW! You’re an absolutely HUGE Magikarp! You are so cool!!” He swam around the enormous Magikarp.

”Um, thank you, little Pichu. My mother is a Wailord and my father is a Gyarados, so I became a giant Magikarp. My twin brother Norman is over there, and he is just a normal Wailmer.” He nodded and smiled at Dash. Noelle shook her head at Dash and pushed him behind her.

”Don’t mind Dash. He’s a little overbearing. Anyways, thanks for the offer but we really can’t accept any help.” She smiled politely and shook her head. The school of fish smiled simultaneously and started to leave when Dash strode up to them.

”We completely and totally need your help. Noelle here has no idea where she is going and I’m tired of swimming in circles. Help us get to the ‘25th floor.’ ” He put air quotes around 25th floor because he didn’t know if the ocean could have floors. Storm laughed and beckoned the team to follow him. Dash laughed and swam right after the huge Magikarp with a smile on his face the whole time. Noelle was just glad that Dash wasn’t bugging her any longer. She shrugged, and swam deeper just as the other water Pokemon were doing.

Two Carvanha jumped out in front of them and muttered some menacing words. Like an “I’m gonna get you all’ and a ‘You aren’t gonna live through my attacks!’ The Pokemon launched himself at Noelle and Dash, baring it’s sharp teeth. Dash started charging up the electricity in his cheeks, and Noelle quickly warned everyone to get away.

”Unless you want to be electrocuted, I suggest you move out of the way.” The group of fish bolted away, and Noelle swam with them as Dash let out a powerful thundershock. Noelle nodded. He seemed to be getting stronger. It wasn’t long before he would be strong enough to take care of himself instead of relying on Noelle. Another thundershock and the Carvanha who were so intent to kill had fainted and was slowly floating towards the bottom. The group swam fast back to Dash to congratulate him and Noelle smiled. She had to admit, it was pretty mature of Dash to handle a wild battle by himself.

”Hey! Next time you let me get a little of the action, alright?” She laughed as she came close to Dash. The Pichu nodded and beamed.

Everyone had gotten pretty deep into the water, and it was beginning to get harder to take breaths. In the air, a breath is natural. You don’t have to think to do it. Underwater, your instincts are to hold you breath, so you have to think to breathe. Noelle didn’t like the feel of breathing water, even if she did have this air bead in her throat. Plus, she could just feel the smooth bead stuck in the bottom of her throat. It was starting to bother her more now, probably because it was pretty deep and the pressure of the water was agitating her. She swallowed although she didn’t need to, and pressed on.

She swam next to Storm and Norman. ”Say, why do you guys travel in a group? And I’m not being racist or anything but you guys aren’t even the same species? Why do you get along so well?” Noelle asked curiously. She had seen the brothers chatting with all the other Pokemon, and she never saw different species get along so well just like that. Norman was the one who answered this time.

”Well you see... We all lived in this one coral reef, yeah? And one day some brutal Pokemon came up and destroyed it. We all were a-thinking it was some Sharpedo and Carvanha, but we all agreed that those Pokemon can’t do that much damage to a reef that quickly, y’know? We was a-thinking something bigger did it, but we don’t know what. ” The Wailmer shrugged. ”And now that we all bonded from that experience, I don’t think we can ever be apart again. OH! And we also have a name, all of us. It’s the Ocean Dwellers, you like it?” Norman nodded and turned back to his brother for confirmation, and Storm nodded as well.

”Um yeah…! Anyways, wow, so you guys are like a family? Dash and I have a little family back home too, with the egg hatching. I wonder how that’s doing?” Noelle wondered to herself, worried about Eve.

Storm sensed her concern for her teammates and set a fin upon her back. ”Don’t you go worrying, alright? Once we guide you to the floor you need to go, you’ll be back home in no time.” He smiled, then continued. ”What business do you have on the 25th floor anyways?” He pondered, looking deep into Noelle’s eyes. The Eevee sighed.

”Dash took a mission we probably can’t complete. We have to go beat up a Milotic because a Jynx said she was stealing her spotlight.” Noelle looked at her paws while she was moving them to swim. She wished she didn’t take this mission. She and Dash probably weren’t strong enough to take on a Milotic.

”What? I only know one Milotic in these seas and she is the kindest person you will ever meet. ” His eyebrow-things scrunched together in though. ”Stealing spotlight? That sounds nothing like her.” He frowned, but soon grew happy again. ”I’m sure it’s not the same Milotic.” He smiled, and they increased their decent. Noelle also hoped that it wasn’t the same Milotic, because even if it were nice, the Eevee would still try her best to beat the Milotic. That is what the mission said, and Noelle would carry the directions out. It was a semi-good thing that Eve wasn’t here, because she would immediately refuse to go any farther if there were any chance that the Milotic they had to beat up was the Milotic Storm had described.

”Yup, it can’t be Tessie...” Storm kept trying to reassure himself.

”Hopefully it’s not. I wouldn’t be able to live with myself if I beat someone who was nicer than me~” Noelle said, giving herself a generous compliment. Dash shook his head and whispered something into Storm’s ear that made him laugh. Noelle frowned and looked back and them only to run into a Mantyke. It squealed and whipped Noelle with its tail. These were Mantyke? This is what rolled into her team room one day? She was glad as heck that she didn’t keep the egg, because these things were UGL~Y! She pivoted in the water and kicked the Mantyke across the face. It screamed and tried to swim away but Noelle was a tiny bit faster, and she bit it’s feeler-thingy and body slammed it with her shoulder. It grew weak and its attempts to attack were futile. The Eevee hit it once again with a tackle and the Mantyke floated to the same fate as the Carvanha Dash had battled earlier. She nodded, proud of herself. She could feel herself getting stronger as well, and not just Dash. The ‘Ocean Dwellers’ all swam up to Noelle and congratulated her as well.

”Hmph~ We have to keep going, we can’t just stop now.” She swam forth with Dash and everyone followed her.

”Well this is the 25th floor... This is where you wished to go, correct?” Storm said, uneasily. Noelle made a face to his emotion and he spoke up. ”I don’t want to make a big deal out of this, but, um.... This is the location of Tessa’s cave.”

Dash and Noelle nodded. They didn’t want to hurt Tessie just as much as Storm did. Besides, where there was one Milotic there was probably other ones, right?

”Thank you so much, Ocean Dwellers. We’d probably be wandering around in circles if you didn’t stumble upon us.” Noelle laughed weakly, and Dash nodded seriously. Storm gave a final smile, trusting that the team wouldn’t do anything stupid, and flipped around and swam away with the rest of the Ocean Dwellers. They were nice, and Noelle wished they would see them again someday. ”C’mon Dash, let’s go see this Milotic.”

On this floor there were only ugly brown and black rocks, and many many many caves. The team saw many Feebas and Magikarp swimming around in these depths, but nothing else really caught their eyes, besides a magnificent castle far away, that Noelle smiled at. Since she was a little girl, she’d always wanted to be royalty.

Dash tapped his chin, thinking, then swam off, Noelle not far behind.

”What I was thinking that if this Milotic is really as mean as that Jynx said, well, then we could just hurt something and it would come out and be amused~” Dash said happily. It wasn’t very often he came up with ideas. Noelle let out a loud ‘PFFFFT’ and scolded Dash.

”WOW THAT IDEA IS LAME! Geez Dash, sometimes you can be stupid.” She flicked her tail in his face as she turned away from him. The Pichu frown, and bubbles started to appear under his eyes. ”Are you really gonna cry Dash? Out in the middle of the ocean? Sigh, you’re going to attract a lot of attention...”

Noelle swam away and looked around to try to gather her surroundings while Dash bawled behind her. She looked around a rock and spied a majestic-looking Milotic swimming, and looking around. Noelle gasped and hid behind a rock wall. The Milotic took a turn and Noelle took no chance in grabbing Dash and hiding somewhere.

”That’s our enemy Dash! We found what we’re looking for!” She smiled and thought of the Ocean Dwellers. Sure they were a little weird, and Noelle didn’t exactly trust them too much, but they told the truth, and Noelle had to applaud them for that.

”Dash, why don’t you go scream or something, then put out the strongest thundershock you can. We need to start it off well if we hope to win.” The Eevee looked at him while he wiped his tears away. She wished Eve were here, she would know how to convince Dash what to do. Plus, with her strength and type-advantage this mission would be hecka easier. Noelle hung her head down. She really missed Eve, and she just wanted to get this mission over with and head home, eat delicious food, and take a 3-day nap. She hung her head as Dash happily swam out without a care.

He waited for the Milotic to turn a corner, then ambushed it with a huge thundershock that traveled through the water and could be felt by Noelle, who was a ways away. Her fur stood up straight then fell back down as it met with the water again. Once the electricity was gone from the water, Noelle swam out to find Dash being strangled by the Milotic. He was trying to scream but couldn’t through the muscular water pokemon.

”DASH! Let him go you jerk!!” Noelle repeatedly hit the Milotic until it was forced to let go, or until it was paralyzed by touching Dash. Whichever way, Noelle was proud of herself and proceeded to protect Dash, who was cowering in fear behind her. The Milotic furrowed her eye-brow thingys, and spoke in a high, quiet voice.

”Why are you protecting the boy that attacked me?” She had a hurt look on her face and quietly circled around them.

Noelle’ eyes never left the water Pokemon’s. She didn’t trust her. ”We were sent here by a Jynx. Saying that you were being a certain female Houndour to her.” She thrust Dash out onto the water. ”We were sent to come beat you up and we aren’t leaving until we do!!” Noelle slammed into the Milotic, and commanded Dash to send out a Thundershock, even if she got hurt. Dash did it without hesitation, and that made Noelle a bit disappointed in him. She shook it off, as well as the electricity. The Milotic struggled a bit though, and squinted painfully.

”Why-why are you doing this? I don’t know a Jynx, and I would never be mean to anyone! Never ever! Not even if they called me name, or-or anything!” She stumbled back, hurt. ”No, I’m Tessa, I’m nice!” She tried to convince herself.

Noelle’s eyes grew wide and she went up to the Milotic and hugged her. ”I’m so so sorry for what we did!! We have the wrong Milotic?” The Eevee withdrew and Dash gave the Milotic a big hug because he took every chance to give hugs. Noelle grew wrought with worry. ”Do you happen to know of… another Milotic perhaps?” She asked nicely. She did of course, ambush this Milotic and could possibly have charges pressed.

”Oh- um, I’m sorry about being the wrong Milotic!” She frowned, but quickly nodded when Noelle mentioned another Milotic. ”I have a twin sister, and now that I think of it, it seems like something she would do! It has to be her, we’re the only two Milotic in the Swirling Sea! Please! Come to my home.”

Much swimming later, the trio arrived at the castle. Noelle’s eyes grew wide like a little girl’s. ”You… you live here??” The Eevee forgot all about the mission and swam as fast as she could to the doorway and marveled at its grandeur.

”Sorry, you can’t come in. The guards won’t let you… I-I’ll bring her out. Somehow. Then I’ll go back in. Because as much as she deserves to be hurt for what she did and still continues to do, but I can’t watch.” She closed her eyes and swam in.

As she swam in a gang of three Magikarp came up to Dash and Noelle and called them spunky kids for hanging around the castle of the royal family. Dash got furious for some odd reason, and thundershocked them all into submission.

Noelle’s eyes still remained diamonds as Tessa left the scene. Dash snapped two fingers in front of her eyes to get her out of it. ”Noelle, stop. You’ll never be royalty. Or rich, for that matter.” Noelle made a face at Dash’s comment but as soon as she heard voices she pulled herself and Dash into a corner and planned.

”Sissy Justine, please come outside and look at this Finneon outside. I swear, maybe it’s shiny!” Tessa’s familiar, childish voice rang out.

”I don’t fricking care about any shiny Pokemon! Hey, where ya going?” Another high, but rude voice smashed over Tessa’s. As soon as the two Milotic entered the door, Noelle yelled attack! and Dash spewed out a huge Thundershock Justine, the other Milotic. ”Argh! That hurt! What’s going on?”

”This is a present from a Jynx you might know! Actually, you do know her.” Noelle pounded her shoulder into the pink and green Milotic and watched as it flinched in pain. It retaliated, however, and hit Noelle with its muscley body across the face. Noelle was knocked out cold and started floating downwards. She soon came to her senses but wasn’t quite ready to get into battle once again. Dash shot out Thundershock after Thundershock while Noelle semi-recovered and started swimming up to the surface. If only she could swim better. *hint hint*

Soon she made it up though, and used up all her energy and body slammed Justine. ”Alright, alright! Stoppit! I give up.” She frowned and panted, bruises and burn marks all over her body.

Tessa came back. ”Thank you for giving her what she deserved. I’ll make sure to tell Daddy about this. Little Justine here will be grounded for a month!” At the word grounded, Noelle, Dash, and Justine made a weird face, but only the team shrugged it off. They had a good laugh, and Noelle got out her badge.

”Thanks for everything, Tessa. And do me a favor, if you see the Ocean Dwellers, thank them again for me too!” Noelle smiled and left the swirling seas.

[Back on the Island]

"Hah, you got her grounded! Serves the little Houndour right! Especially after she got all up! in! my! Face!" The Jynx let out a malicious chuckle, clearly pleased that the Justine had been grounded. She grabbed a bag that contained the promised rewards; 3000 PD and the X-Ray Specs. However, instead of simply giving them to the pair, she pulled out the specs and stuck them on Noelle with a chuckle. "You guys look pretty good!" She began intently gazing at the group, her voice much more serious. "So, hey... What's the big city like? I heard there's some great clothes there! I was wondering if I could go with you guys back to the city?"

Two familiar faces popped up as well. Storm and Norman popped out of the oceans, looking very appreciative at the party. "You guys were great! Me and my brother were so impressed that we'd really like to join your team!" Norman nodded happily along side his brother.

A familiar Milotic swam out as well. A Big Pearl was clamped firmly between her jaws. She slithered up onto the island, letting it fall onto the ground near Noelle. "My Daddy said that I should come thank you for the help. It must have been really hard for an Eevee and Pichu to get through the waters, after all! I know this isn't worth very much, but I hope it's helpful." Tessa's gaze faltered for a moment, her eyes and voice expressing uncertainty. "I was really impressed with your bravery! I know my daddy wouldn't like it... But could I please join your team?"

Of course, the guild would only issue one new badge. They could take only one recruit with them back to the city.

((I luffled this. The sense of completeness within the allied characters was wonderful. However, you need to work into things a bit better. You seemed to jump in to some incidents or events way too fast, leaving the connection from point A to B a little bit weak. The part where Noelle says she's lost is a good example. Working that into the text by having her think earlier on that she wasn't sure, or by expressing dialogue in uncertain terms "I think this is the way" or a number of other things would've made this very complete.))
