I wonder what you think about Satanism. What comes to your mind when you hear the word "Satanism" "Satanic" and things like that?

I think of the word "self". The reason is pretty self-explanatory.

When I hear Satanism i think of Satan duh.. Just like when I hear Christianity I think of Christ.
But when i think about ppl who are Satanics is basicly those who want to belong to the Devil and hope to live in Hell with him one day...
Pretty must the exact opposite of Christians.

Self. Independence, pride, hedonism.
I quite like (atheistic) Satanism. Most of the sins and Rules of Earth or whatever are fairly standard; one generally behaves in that sort of manner anyway, revolving as it does around mutual respect and protecting one's own.
Ironically Satan is one of the last things that comes to mind; I associate Satan the entity with Christianity foremost.

Captain_Shinzo I think of the word "self". The reason is pretty self-explanatory. I probably should think "self" first becuase of what Satanism actually is. However, because of what I used to think it was, I think of 'Satan' or 'Devil.'

Personally, a few months ago, I would have said Satan. Though now I think of self empowerment. I have a relative that is a satanist, so I know the other religion. Satanist that worship Satan aren't that common. Though the really Satanist are preaching for money, and they tell you that when you become one. You have to sign a contract, and pay special fees, and if you get famous. They add a bunch of other fees. Its how the church of Satan works. Nothing to do with Satan, they just used the name to scare people.

I think evil or not good. I also think abuse, torture, bloody ceremonies and eventually I come to self-indulgence and athiestic satanism, all which makes me wince. >.<
And I know some satanists don't do the illegal bloody stuff, but it still happens. I read the published diary of a kid who got dragged into the occult, and drank blood and prayed to satan with his three friends. They all were killed after having a wish fulfilled, and they were killed in three different accidents. I also read Stairway to Hell which was written by a man who woirked with kids who were hurt by satanism, and dragged up news reports of kids who had killed their friends while worshipping satan. I really don't like any form of satanism.

There was a massive scare in the 80's about that, but none of the information made sense. Also, just because you read a book doesn't mean it happened. Go Ask Alice is famous for being the "real" diary of a teenage girl, but it was written by a middle-aged woman to scare kids away from drugs and pre-marital sex.

Eternal, worshipping the Devil is actually not what Satanism is about. talk2hand I know the name's misleading, but, in short, Satanism is basically about Satan as a symbol of man himself. Satanism is about the empowerment of oneself as a human and a person. All bowing down to statues of a red demon with a pitchfork and pointy tail? All that drinking blood and sacrificing babies? Bullsh*t. Nevermind the fact that I think of the same words because of how I used to view Satanism before I learned the facts...
