She was definitely nervous when she returned to the House. She gestured for Ka'da to flank her when they approached, as she was hoping that by not trying to hide what they had been doing together would help quell the waspish storm of rumors that were sure to fly up now. Thankfully it was still early morning, so Yallinda was positive not the whole House was up yet...but all the same..she wasted no time going to fetch the adviser to the Matron.

Yallinda was a little surprised when the adviser did not press her for more information when she stated she wished an audience with the Matron as soon as she was capable of seeing her. After that...it was merely a waiting game. A waiting game of standing near Ka'da, but not touching or looking up at him. A waiting game with knots and insects fluttering in her tummy. Oh..please...Lloth she prayed this was not a move too soon!

Matron D'Shadrea of the House Ja'lithur had tossed and turned all night from sore muscles and the visions that had plagued her the day before. Visions of her venture into her sister's business failing and the House falling from the Goddess' favor. She had just disrobed and gotten into a tub full of lukewarm water to cool her sweaty body when there came an loud knock on the door of her chambers. She groaned and glanced around for one of her servants, to find herself utterly alone in the room.

"COME IN!" She yelled with a mixture of anger and annoyance.

When her advisor entered the room and relayed the message to her she couldn't help but puzzle over it for a moment. What was the healer up to? Surely she didn't think to demand anything of her did she? D'shadrea frowned and reluctantly got out of her bath tub and wrapped a long robe around her.

"Tell them I shall see them after I have gotten my breakfast. They can at least wait that long." She replied, the frown still on her face as she tried to figure out what Ka'da and the healer might be up to.

Could they be involved somehow? It had been Ka'da that had brought the Healer into serving the House. Her sources hadn't mentioned that they might be involved personally..still it was something that made her stop and wonder.

"Wait," She said holding up a hand to the advisor as he started to leave. "Tell them they can join me in my private dining room for breakfast. They must be as hungry as I am." She added.

Ka'dairihn was rather nervous at what the two of them were planning to do as they left the hotel and made their way back to the House. When they got to the House, it was still early and not too many people were up and about. Just a handful of servants wandering the halls as the two of them made their way to the room His matron's advisor kept to.

Ka'da tried to still his nerves as Yallinda relayed the message to the advisor and they waited in silence. It was almost torture having to stand there a few feet away from her without being able to look at her or touch her to reassure her. Still..if he didn't want to give away just how close the two of them had become it would be wise to wait it out.

When the advisor returned to relay the Matron's reply to their request Ka'da felt his nerves become hard as steel. What was she up to? Did she know or suspect what was going on? Crap. Ka'da began to sweat uneasily as he waited to hear Yallinda's thoughts on the matter.

Stay calm...stay controlled...inwardly Yallinda walked herself through dozens of different scenarios to prepare herself for this meeting. If she stayed calm..if she stayed in control and did not allow herself to appear emotional or attached, then all would go well. She had a hundred small lies she could tell, and twice that many half truths. She supposed that if she stuck with the clearly most drow like approach she would be more likely to succeed. She did not want the Matron to think Yallinda toyed with any thoughts of usurping her after all!

When the adviser returned and extended the Matrons wishes for them to join her at the morning meal, Yallinda smiled slightly and nodded her head. Oh! This was a good sign! If the Matron wanted her to eat and talk..that was far less formal then a meeting in her throne room! "I will be delighted to keep her company." Yallinda smoothly replied before allowing the female to lead her off. Though the temptation was great, she managed not to look back at Ka'da. Goddess she wanted to grab his hand and squeeze it now!

Instead, she entered the dining hall stiffly, and forced as charming a smile to her lips as she could manage. "Matron. How kind of you to invite me to share a meal with you at this time." She softly greeted the other and bowed her head slightly before taking a seat.

Matron D'Shadrea took a few moments to dress in one of her lounging gowns and dry her hair out and then have a servant braid it loosely before she made her way leisurely to her private dining room. The food had already been set out and she took her seat at the head of the table in her favorite cushioned seat.

She had already piled her plate high with sweet bread, fruit and cheese and some pickled eggs when Yallinda entered the room. The Matron eyed the healer a moment before replying.

"Well..truthfully, I was curious to your request for a meeting. So then, how are do you like working for the House?"

Ka'dairihn waited for a few moments before he followed after Yallinda into the private dining room. Instead of taking a seat, as Ka'da knew that would be overstepping his boundaries; Ka'dairihn took up his post at the doorway standing stiffly behind Yallinda. He inwardly winced when the matron's eyes flickered over in his direction and she frowned slightly at him.

"Ka'dairihn, please sit." She said, the frown on her face reaching up to her eyes.

Ka'da gulped slightly and then took a seat in between the Matron and yallinda, hoping that he wasn't going to get his head bitten off or anything.

Yallinda did not spare a glance at Ka'da. Even as he finally moved to seat himself between her and the Matron, she paid him no more mind then she would have a extra fork at the table. Unlike the Matron, Yallinda only selected a moderate portion of the fruit selection, and she nibbled tiny bits off the tip of her fork.

"Oh" She spoke with a softer and sweeter voice. "I find it most agreeable Matron D'Shadrea. I have never found myself more content then this. Your House is strong, your daughters are intelligent and lovely. I find my skills put to use here and I do so enjoy being able to use them. This is all so much better then tending to nasty merchant males all the time. It is all far more civilized."

Yallinda nipped another small piece of fruit from her fork tip and lowered her lids a little over her eyes as if she were particularly happy with the taste of the fruit.

"Mmmm." She hummed softly, then made a slight gesture with her fork in the air. "What I wished to meet you about was really no important thing Matron. I just wished to speak with you first. It is only proper after all. As I have answered your question, I have found your House to be simply marvelous. Which also includes your son." Yallinda finally tilted her red eyes to look upon Ka'da as if she were acknowledging him for the first time. "I wished to make it known to you that I have found myself attracted to him and we have tested our...compatibility I suppose is what is nicest to name it at the meal table."

The Matron's sharp eyes narrowed on the healer and then slid over to Ka'dairihn, who kept his own gaze adverted to the table and sat stoically still not even making a move to eat anything, despite the fact that he was in fact famished. Her gaze softened slightly as the healer began to speak, and then narrowed even more at the words.

Ka'dairihn almost gagged at the description of his sisters, there was no way the matron was going to believe any of what the healer was saying. She herself, from what Ka'da had heard from being her personal body guard over the years, rather despised just how childish and petty her daughters were. She was constantly berating them for the way they dressed and carried themselves. As far as he knew, the only daughter that had any of his matron's respect was the one off studying magic. Thus, Ka'da was rather surprised by what D'Shadrea said to Yallinda next.

"I am pleased to hear so, Yallinda. I am rather happy with the work you have been doing, and my daughters have said so themselves. Civilization is much better suited to one such as you dear," D'shadrea commented giving Yallinda an appraising look and then took a deep gulp of her drink.

"Eat something boy, you'll need your strength. You will be leaving on that mission soon." D'Shadrea ordered Ka'da with a stern look.

Ka'da did as requested, trying not to appear as alarmed as he was about the question Yallinda had just posed.

D'Shadrea looked between Yallinda and Ka'da for a moment, eying the both of them closely, as she lowered her fork her mouth going into a thin red line. After what seemed like an eternity she finally spoke in a slow soft tone.
"I am pleased that you would come to me and tell me this before someone else did. I appreciate that greatly. Most of my household tend to do as they please without sharing the news with me. In turn, it will go better for you because you have brought this to my attention. So..is there more to this that you would like to share?"

Yallinda prided herself on a handful of things. One was her healers skill. She was vainly prideful of her skill as a healer, for it was her only foothold into power. She lacked the proper spells of a well educated priestess, but any of them would be hard pressed to match her in skill when it came to patching up and keeping others alive and healthy. One of her other prideful sins happened to be her looks. She had a unique tattooing that she knew gave her the look of a highborn drow. She was obviously of good breeding to look so refined! Another thing she was prideful of was her skill of 'The Act.' Oh sure..the Daughters of this House could have used a good public whipping in the nude, and a complete wardrobe change. But..Yallinda was nothing more then a healer and a common drow. It would have been inappropriate to tell the matron to her face her daughters were horrid beasts that had made her second guess ever desiring to have a daughter of her own. oh no! That was just not done! It was a slight to the Matron as much as it was a rude and offensive stab into the eyes of those very same daughters.

Yallinda tilted her head very slightly to one side, her red eyes fixed upon the Matron after she had delivered her genteel version of just what she and Ka'da had been doing that night. Oh..she had noted the small sounds that had come from him. It was important now though to pay more attention to the Matron then ka'da though. She did not want the Matron to think this had been going on under her nose as long as it had...or that there had been something between them for as long as it really had. Far better for her to perhaps get the feeling she was using ka'da to wriggle her way into a House. That -was- the more appropriate response of a young lady like herself! She was certain the Matron was well aware that Yallinda was not all that simple minded and upbeat as she acted at times.

Quietly Yallinda folded her hands before her, and she waited patiently for the Matron to speak. When prompted, Yallinda lowered her eyes and she spoke with as frank a voice as she had ever used in her Act with the Matron before.

"Indeed matron there is. I wish to be uncommonly blunt, if it is you approve." Yallinda paused and lifted her eyes to peer at the elder female. "I am quiet content here in your House. No matter the circumstances, I assure you. I have seen and tolerated far worse out on the roads of the Underwilds. I desire a place here, a permanent place that is. As such, my interest in your son stems from my desire to obtain your permission to marry into your House." Yallinda lifted her hand to gently flick her fingers towards Ka'da in the small pause that followed.

"I am well aware of certain shortcomings your son has been rumored to have. I have found none of this to be true personally. In light of his pending task, I was wondering if you would be willing to consider a...incentive for him. To better encourage a far more favorable outcome in this task, I would ask that should he prove successful and not disappoint you. Would you reward him by allowing us to marry?"

Matron D'Shadrea relaxed back in her chair, letting her eyes study the two young drow seated in front of her. There was no doubt that the young healer was quite talented, she had heard as much from those that had been treated by the young female. Beyond her skills, the young female had an air about her that made D' Shadrea feel uneasy.

It almost seemed that the female had plotted this very thing to happen from the first time she had laid eyes on Ka'dairihn. That slightly bothered her, and concerned her a bit. What sort of plots could a healer pull off within her House? And what had she already been up to? From the reports she had gotten from her spies, the healer didn't do much else than see to her duties and pull them off without a complaint. Still..there was something about this female that caused D'Shadrea a slight amount of alarm and interest.

D'Shadrea nodded to the healer, and then listened to the blunt words, appearing calm and relaxed as she lounged in her chair while her mind was working ruthlessly.

"Well," the Matron began licking her lips slightly and then taking a drink from her glass and then continued. "The House has been much better off with your exceptional services Healer, I and my Household are very much pleased with your hard work. I would consider it an honor to count you as a part of the Household, I agree that if Ka'da is able to pull off his mission without too many losses the two of you will be allowed to marry. However, being as it will be the first marriage of my Household; I insist the marriage take place here and with much celebration. I will be gaining a new daughter after all."

The Matron was very talented. Yallinda could not read her the way she could the daughters of the House normally. Of course, it could be because the Matron was so much older then her. She had a good head start on the subtle of game of manipulation and misdirection. It was something she could truly admire and aspire to. Yallinda kept her red eyed gaze settled unflinchingly upon the Matrons.

Yallinda formed a small smile as the Matron would acknowledge her skill and worth in the House. It seemed all these days spent swallowing all those bitter feelings towards the girls, and suffering in silence for lack of her Rihn, had surely paid off. Her red eyes crinkled up though with the largeness of the smile that soon followed.

"Ah. Matron D'Shadrea. I would be so honored to have the marriage ceremony held here. I would be very delighted to have any suggestion on your part as well. Though I suppose it would be unbecoming of me to begin making plans. Ka'darihn still must see to his task after all." Yallinda tilted her head to look at Ka'da once more. "I am sure you will do your best. If not for your Matrons pleasure at the very least."

Ka'dairihn was astonished by the quickness in which Yallinda's interest was accepted by the Matron. He didn't quite know what to think of Yallinda's proposal of terms; and having him completely libel for it not happening. If he were to screw up the mission, though it was unlikely both females would be pissed off at him. Not really an ideal place for him to be in. Especially since he had no clue just how Yallinda was when she was angry.

Ka'da wasn't very happy with this turn of events, but he wasn't about to argue. That would only make Yallinda think that he didn't love her, and make his Matron highly disappointed in his refusal to step up to the task. Crap. He was really going to have to go through with the it as there were no other options.

Ka'da suddenly felt no longer hungry, and placed the fork back down, wiped his mouth and rose from his chair.

"If that is all, if I have your permission Matron D'Shadrea, I would like to go do some more training before I head out." Ka'da said with a deep bow.

Don't screw this up. Yallinda wanted to whisper into Ka'da's ear. She needed the Matron to respect her for her ambition. Not see her as some emotionally manipulative sap. Yallinda's red eyes were fixed on Ka'da as he wiped his mouth, and she felt a flutter of relief in her chest at his words. Such a good boy! A excellent response! She would have to reward him with a happy letter in his journal later. Yallinda smiled brightly as Ka'da bowed to the Matron. She turned back to her plate and took another small nibble of her food. "Mmm!" She hummed as if remembering something that had slipped her mind. Yallinda lifted a finger and gestured towards the door. "If it would not be displeasing to you Matron, I recall that I have some salve leaves soaking. I really ought to tend to them before too much longer, I would hate to over soak them and ruin the batch."

Matron D'shadrea merely flicked a wrist in his direction, not in the least bit interested in his excuses for leaving.
"You may go, if any other male warrior trained as much as you there would be no need to punish your gender." She replied, with a slightly pleased expression in her eyes.
"Though..don't forget to bide your lady a proper goodbye before you leave on the morrow." She added, with a bemused expression.

She couldn't quite explain it, but the fact that this small unassuming female had stuck her fingers into Ka'da was rather amusing. Especially since it have been rumored that he had a preference for males. The morning had proved most enlightening.

And despite Ka'dairihn's stoic expression, she knew that there was more to their relationship than the two had let on about. In time..she'd use it to her own advantage. Until then, she'd allow them to believe that they had triumphed over her. Oh..how fun this was going to be!

Ka'da was rather surprised at the compliment from the Matron, and bowed deeply to her, replying. "It is only because you have proven so diligent in your own work, that I have striven to match you in my area of expertise Matron."

He knew his words pleased her, for her eyes a lit with pleasure and she actually smiled at him faintly. He turned to nod his head in deference to Yallinda before he turned to leave the room.
Even as he walked away, he had the smallest feeling of unease that the whole thing had gone way to easily. His Matron was planning something..and both he and Yallinda would be smart to stay on guard or they might get caught unaware.

PostPosted: Wed May 26, 2010 10:14 pm

Yallinda glanced between the matron and Ka'da for a moment as she listened in on the exchange. Despite the fact the Matron had bid him to see her in farewell, Yallinda thought it would go a long way to upholding her image as a proper female..and a respectful one... if she kept their encounter as civil and..drow like..as was expected. She would write it to Ka'da the moment she got back to her bedroom!

Yallinda rose and bowed a deep respectful bow to the Matron after Ka'da was gone. Her lips curled into a small and as polite a smile she could manage. "I shall be leaving myself now too. There is no reason or excuse for me to become lax in my duties merely because of today's discussion." After having given her farewell to the Matron, Yallinda rose and quickly exited the room. Oh she really had so much to look forwards to!
