It had been a while since Tawa appeared from the den Kiion had taken her to when her belly was so swollen with pups that it threatened to drag against the ground. They were Kiion's pups, pups Tawariel wasa almost scared of birthing. Almost. There was something about Kiion that made him powerful, it made storm lights dance about his paws and ears. She hoped her pups would not show anything like that until they were eating meat. The gods must have answered her, for not one pup had lights dancing about them for now. But today was a special day. They had grown restless, and Tawariel decided to reviel them to the family.

Crawling out of the den, the green femme shook out the dirt from her mottled fur. She took in the smells, scanning for danger. There was none. Her pack was close. Lifting her head, she called to them, her howl summoning those who wanted to meet the pups Tawariel gave birth to. Looking back at the den, all she saw were eyes. They were waiting for her like good pups.

"Come on," Tawariel sighed flopping down on a lush patch of grass, "there is nothing to fear. You are meeting your family." Her smile was worn thin with all the nursing and watching she had done since they were born, but she loved them all the same. Each one was beautiful in their own special way. She just hoped the others took to them too.

A large, muddle-coated female was the first to burst out of the den and into freedom. Her tail wagged as she squinted against the sun with mustard toned eyes. She was the hardest to contain within the den, always tussling with her brothers or attempting to sneak out. But this time, mother let her.

Not straying too far from her mother, Aloadae looked for something to chase other than her brothers. The grass was cool against her warm paws and she marveled at the strange texture. All the smells assualted her inexperienced nose at once and she could not tell what was what or who was who. Just her brothers which also smelled of den earth.

"Come on!" she coaxed her brothers, "Let's go explore!"

Erynion was that type of wolf that felt he might have been a mistake at birth, or that maybe he had been swapped with a different litter somehow in the middle of that blankness his memory could not stretch to - that time he'd hate to imagine remembering anyway, the arduous period of being birthed. But no, no-one in Acropolis had sired a litter besides theirs (at least, as far as he knew of, and that alone was very little), and for several weeks at least he had known nothing except the scents and touches of his immediate family. For sure, Aloadae had been itching to get out and explore, as she expended pent up energy through various tussles with him and Phrixos - she almost always won the ones involving himself. But now Mom was lifting the seal, giving them expectant looks to move forward and greet the world with eagerness, yet . . . He half didn't want to come out.

Erynion was too self-conscious of himself, and again that centered around this belief that he should not have been born. After all, he was particularly small in a family of towering, huge wolves, and . . . well, "bald". Would anyone want to so quickly show themselves off to the world with the low amount of self-confidence Erynion had, to be so happy as to display themselves as an almost black sheep? Aloadae prompted him and his brother onward, but he docked his ears and shuffled his paws as he walked, pausing beside Tawariel with an uncertain look. Would he be accepted, he asked quietly.

Kiion shifted on his paws outside the den, eager as a new pup himself, so filled with happy emotions that miniature bolts of lightning danced along his paws. He had seen his offspring, of course, but not for extended periods of time. Tawariel had been like most mothers and had wanted space and privacy, and as her loving mate, he had given her what she desired, bringing her food and comfort when she needed it.

But now the pups would see this beautiful world and he would see them! Under a sun shining brightly down upon them, with rich grass beneath their tender paws.

And they were so beautiful! So varied in color, but what had he expected from a joining of two wolves with as differing of coat colors as his and Tawa's? And little Phrixos.....With a mohawk just like Kiion, the big male could only grin and secretly dote on the little male that was already bigger then his siblings.

He nearly wiggled with his excitement, and his father chuckled from his stretched out, lazy-in-the-sun position just a few yards away from the den that held his grandchildren.

"Settle down, Kiion, you're digging up the grass," the alpha said in a voice as deep and soothing as rolling thunder. It matched his enormous frame, a gene he shared with much of his family, and probably the pups in the den.

Stretching his paws out before him, Hephaestus settled in more comfortably to welcome the little ones, but far enough away from the den not to crowd them or Tawariel, who emerged first. He had learned from Kiion's mother how temperamental a female could be after being confined to a den for a few weeks.

The alpha smiled, a gesture shared hesitantly by Leto, who sat beside him, with purple Kajahli on Leto's other side. Heph knew that something had happened between his scarf-clad adopted son and Tawa, but had never prodded either about the incident. He just hoped the past wouldn't ruin this present moment.

Watching his sister practically dive out of the den set his own adventurous mind into over-drive, and he didn't need her coaxing words to drag him from the dark den. Shouldering past his hesitant brother, Phrixos burst from his so-far home with a rebellious bark, as if he were stepping beyond its safety on his own terms, and not on his mother's.

It was the first sign of his future nature.

The sunlight, once a small bright circle he had been forbidden to investigate, now blinded him and he stumbled on clumsy puppy paws just outside the den entrance, blinking bi-colored eyes that matched sire and grandsire.

The world was huge, and filled with so many sights and smells that it nearly sent his brain into over-drive. He sat heavily on his butt, looking at it all with wide eyes, jaw gaping.

"Alo, Ery!! It's briiiiiight! Wha's that? And that? D'you smell that? I won'er where that goes . . . What're you doin'?" he said lightning fast, the questions falling from his maw faster than a diving hawk could move.

And just like that, he was introduced to the world outside his place of birth.

Dione padded up behind her son, nuzzling Heph affectionately before sitting beside him and watching the little ones appear. They were all beautiful, and she felt a happy whine building in her throat from her intense joy. Her family was growing bigger and bigger, recovering from the tragedies and challenges it had suffered, both recently, and in the past.

She glanced back towards the main pack den, knowing that Clotho, Atropos, and Lachesis were laying in the sun, still too shy to be around for such an intimate moment as the pups' first venture outside.

And then there was Bia, an emotionally scarred wolf that worried Dione simply because of how wounded her soul was. She wouldn't tell any of them why her soul ached so terribly, but Dione gathered it was something very terrible.

Sighing, she let her thoughts drift back to the happy occasion, watching as the pups reveled in their new world, wide eyed and bushy tailed as anything she had ever seen.

A true grandma, this was a moment she would always enjoy: new life, and new blood for the pack. Puppies were the next generation, and it made her content to see the get of her beautiful, precious grandson.

Who knew if she would live to see the next generation?

"They will be a handful," Heph murmured, watching his mother and knowing exactly what thoughts were going through her head. She had acted the same way with the birth of Kiion, even though that time had also been a great tragedy to the pack, and Hephaestus' heart.

But he would not let the past ruin this moment, and tried to mirror the joy Dione was practically exuding.

Rescuing Tawariel had been one of the highlights of his life, and now look what she had given him in return? Beautiful, bright eyed grandchildren. Little warriors that they could dote upon and spoil.

His pack was recovering, finally, and the thought did more then anything to soothe his troubled soul.

"Good. Means I won't have time to get old and senile," the pretty white femme said with a wink, grinning wide.

She glanced at her son and knew that his thoughts had drifted, catching the familiar sadness in his eyes reserved only for memories of his dead mate. But the moment was brief, and she was thankful for that.

Heph had healed, but would never truly be rid of the pain of the loss of his mate, even on such a joyous day as this.

Phrixos lost interest in his siblings and the world in an instant, stumbling on big paws towards Dione and Heph, curiosity calling to him, but he was wary of these strange wolves with their unfamiliar scents. And yet....something.....was familiar about them.

Head low, ears pricked forward, he sniffed the air and looked at them with wide eyes, realizing that the black one was the largest thing he had eeeeeever seen, and the white one had the longest legs of anything he had ever seen.

Which wasn't much, so did that really mean anything?

Suddenly, he panicked and wanted his father, fleeing to Kiion's side, hiding behind the black and red wolf. "Da.....who are deh?? An' why are deh? so big? Dat one is bigger'n you!"

Chuckling, Kiion looked at his father and grandmother. "Family," he said simply, smiling reassuringly down at his young son. "They won't hurt you."

"Oh..." the pup murmured, still hiding. Then he turned, his attention captured by whatever his siblings were doing, and he darted after them with a bark, leaving his father and forgetting his momentary fears.

Kajahli truly didn't know how he felt about this. He was very very anxious. His brother had pups with the female Tawa,... so did that make them his nephews and niece? Kaj knew that Kiion wasn't his blood brother, but he was his brother and savior in everything but blood. Blood didn't matter in the matters of family.

In the inside, Kaj knew that he'd never have pups of his own. He couldn't. He felt scared and terrified of the other female wolves. How could he not be? He wanted to just tremble knowing Tawa was coming out, but he had Kiion right here. Heph and Leto too. He knew he didn't have to be scared but... he couldn't help but be.

He could only share in the amount of emotion Kiion had, but of anxiety and not of excitement like Kiion did. What if this meant losing Kiion forever and not having anyone?

But this was for Kiion and he would rather die than hurt Kiion in any way. So he smiled, hesitantly, not sure of what else to do but be here.
