The ground was soggy and it had begun to stick to her hooves. The snow that had been here a couple of days ago had finally sunk into the ground below, and had saturated the earth so well that now the earth was willing to travel…On her coat. Lux blew a sigh through her nose as she once again ripped her hoof from the mud. Once again, her hoof was a complete mess and even had blades of dead grass sticking to it. Her silver eyes gazed at the landscape before her, at the other muddy hoof prints that had decided to track through this clearing to get to the river, and than she gave a quick glare at the sun. After all, this mess was its entire fault.
Winter had been pretty amazing, with the snow that had covered the land like a soft blanket. She had walked the land, traveling on some unknown personal journey, and had seen many other soquili that had also been enjoying the weather. To cold for her tastes, but she handled it well. But as she waited for the weather to change and to finally become warmer, her mind had often returned to the friend that she had made. The friend that had taught her to finally use her once useless wings. Now they always seemed anxious to fly, and she still felt she needed to thank him again.
Running she still did often, but now that she knew the true freedom of flying, she could not get enough. Just the thought of being in the air caused her wings to quiver in excitement. Perhaps a quick flight would be best, to at least get her nearer to the river. Her wings were still not strong enough to carry her long distance, barely even short, so any free time went to strengthening them she took.
Normally a running start would be optimal, but a muddy semi-run would have to do. Lux only hoped that her landing wasn’t to bad, like disaster in the mud bad. With that last thought, she began her light sticky mud jog, opened her wings, and pushed off the ground while giving a huge flap from her midnight black wings. Than, all she felt was nothing but air. (sorry for it being so long, had sudden inspiration, also, did not look to closely at spelling and what not so sorry for any mistakes) xD

Thoth enjoyed the changing seasons, no matter what discomfort they brought him. he loved learning about anything and everything around him and it was somewhat of a passion for him. the mud from the snow melting had not bothered him one bit, no matter how dirty his legs and hooves where getting. grinning to himself, he was admiring his wings as he stretched them out to make sure they where in good condition. it reminded him of his friend and pupal who he taught how to fly, dispit it the fact it had taken months of training her to get her flying. closing his wing tight to his side, he wondered if she kept up her training so that she could continue to fly and get better at it.

The wind ruffled her short hair and tail, and she enjoyed the sensation of it all by closing her eyes and just feeling. Already her wings were straining to keep her afloat, and it had only been ten minutes at best. At least she got off the ground and at least a moment to feel this before she was grounded, literally. Slowly opening her eyes she could see the river in the far distance and than turned her gaze to the ground, and seeing the mud she rolled her eyes. But something else caught her attention. Black wings were slightly stretched and the beginnings of a smile began. Upon seeing the head dress she knew immediately who it was. Already she was floating to the ground and she pulled her wings a little closer, making her descend faster, while also trying to keep a good distance away from him in case things got ugly. “Thoth!” She yelled past the wind, hoping he would hear her. Seeing the ground coming in fast, she got her feet ready for the muddy debacle that might ensue. Lifting her wings out to slow her approach she flapped once more before feeling her right back hoof hit the mud before the rest. A few stuttering steps and she had made her landing, without mud getting all over her like anticipated, and she felt exhilarated. Seeing him not to far off she shouted once again. “Thoth?!”

ear's perked the moment he heard his name called out. looking around for the source, he was shocked to see it was Lux calling to him while coming in for a landing. chuckling, he waited for her to land on the ground safely before approaching her. "Seems your getting the hang of flying rather quickly." he couldn't help but feel proud that he had managed to help Lux with flying because he had been the one to teach and now she was flying even if for short periods. "by the way its a pleasure to see you again Lux" giving a polite bow of his head, he was all about being polite and being a gentleman.

Lux also bowed her head, showing respect to her friend and mentor. Lifting her head she grinned. “I have been strengthening them as often as I can, but they are still weak.” They ruffled in the wind, as if in insult. “I am so thankful for you teaching me, I don’t know how many times I can say thank you.” “Anyways, how have you been Thoth? Good I hope.” She could already tell that she had sunk slightly, but it was like a mosquito buzzing in her ear. A flick of the ear and it disappears. But her mentor and friend was in front of her, and she had not seen him for a full season. Perhaps he would like to journey with her? “Would you like to go with me to the river? Its not to far, just beyond this clearing I think.”

" theres no need to thank me so much, i am just pleased that i was able to help you." Thoth chuckled at Lux with amusment. "you wings will get stronger the more you work at it. and i have been well." he was pleased that Lux was still working at making her wings stronger, since his teachings wouldn't of been much use if she had not kept up with it. " i do not mind going to the river to get a drink. lead the way Lux." ruffling his wings some, he tossed his mane to get it out of the way as he waited for Lux to lead.

”Very well, I will try and stop from thanking you so much. But you must know how grateful I am for your help. I always felt useless with wings that didn’t ever want to work.” Her wings fluttered as if in thank you as well, happy to now be in use. “I have been attempting to get stronger and stronger each day. I just have to keep pushing to get them into a good flying shape.”
Once he agreed to the small journey a smile lit her face and she flicked her short tail back and forth in an excitement akin to a foal. Hurriedly, she reigned in her excitement lest he see it and turned in the direction of where she knew the river to be located, and she raised a muddy hoof to begin walking as there would be no more flying today. “Let us depart than.” She shook as much mud off her hoof before she took another step.
