Well since some idiot has jammed my trans-dimensional gateway open and lost pieces of it as well. I thought it would be best to organise some sort of expedition through it to find the missing parts so that I can repair it and shut the thing down. I am looking for volunteers and to take part in this venture to strange and foreign lands. After all the parts could be anyway across the multiverse.
Since this could involve first contact situations and might even involve an element of time travel, I will need to know a bit about the people I am taking with me so if you could take a few seconds to tell me a bit about yourselves I would appreciate it. After all i need to make sure that I am not taking a bunch of land hungry pirates with me who only want to raise the flag over some unsuspecting country.

Good sir, allow me to introduce myself and perhaps to familiarize you with a sampling of my credentials.
I am one Aster Lanskey, aged twenty-four. A child prodigy, I was graduate of Cambridge University at age seventeen. I have always been fascinated by mechanical things.
On my world, the Great Oxford Fires resulted in a general ban upon petroleum research being enacted by the Ministry of Public Safety. Now, I shall have to confess to my sordid past on this issue. I did for some years perform research into internal combustion. That is, until the day of my accident. It is my liability, and I confess it, but on that fateful day there was a reaction of greater force than I had anticipated, and a steel rod was driven through my heart. I was found in time, but looked to face slow death in a hospital.
Ironically, it was the design for a toy I had made for a lady I favored that proved my salvation. From those simple designs, which I had not thought on for many years, one of my peers had designed a machine to serve for the organ my carelessness had caused to fail me. I have since modified and improved upon the design myself, but it is still an artificial heart, and problems do occur. I shall understand if you reject me on this point.
However, should you wish to include me on your journey, I am not an inventor without skill. Indeed, my process for creating Compression Grade Ethanol has greatly enhanced the efficiency of steam engines in my own world, and I have confidence in the usefulness of my skills in any other. As well, I can assure you (as some others may be unable) that my interest is purely scientific. I shall require a day or more to prepare, should you be interested in my assistance, but shall await your reply.

Dare I say it? I would be happy to join you upon your expedition. I do believe it was your machine that brought me here in the first place. But I am getting ahead of myself.
I am Lady Alexa Jordan Tailen, age 19. That's quite mature being a fox, even if I will live to be as old as most of you, so no telling me that I'm a bit young for anything. I was born to my family quite normal, just the runt. I grew up, became a squire and ran off to have many adventures as soon as I was knighted by the Lords of out region. I have an adopted brother that follows me around as well. He just happens to be a dragon, so please don't say anything about it.
It happened by happenstance really. I found a strange contraption in the basement of an abandoned weapons factory whilst a battle raged on above ground. Needless to say my curious nature found the better of me, and I touched the darn thing. A few electrical shocks and a dizzying fall later, I found myself in this world, with all your...things. I've grown fond of this place over the years, in all honesty, I do not wish to return home. I've found honest work as a mechanic for hire, I can fit into most small spaces the you humans cannot reach. My hands are quick and nimble as well. I can also fly a ship quite well, granted I be provided a stepping stool.
By the way, do not call me short. Just because I only stand to your hip does not BY ALL MEANS mean I'm short. I will find a nasty creature to eat you alive if you call me short. Other than that, I am ready to leave whenever, seeing as I have no formal lodging to take care of. I wish to help, because chivalry prods me on with a pointy stick saying 'Help someone for once you lazy ball of fur'.

Good day sir, I wish to partake in your adventure to strange new places in search of your lost pieces of the gateway. I am Erimentha, aged 20 and a walking library, I own a ship and I am always looking for something new and wonderful to study and record, my maps and books will come quite in handy on this trip I hope. If not I have blank pieces spare to map areas of the unknown. I am also a self taught engineer and mechanic. My father owns a library and mother sells items we might need for our trip.
My ship (The clockwork Dragon) will fit at least 10-15 people, and is fully furnished above and below deck. Spare hammocks are packed in storage should my ship be needed. Word of warning though, I wish that no one but myself (without express permission or they are with me at the time) should fly my vessel. She is my first and only ship I have ever had and very dear to me.
((Sorry for the mix up, I have 2 Erimentha OC's who I mixed up for a second.))

A ship? That's marvelous! I was worried about how we as a small crew (for now) would be able to skip around the time lines and universes efficiently. We still need a way to skip between the time lines and universes. And no worries, I'm sure we're all semi-responsible adults. We won't touch your ship. Plus, I'm travel sized.

A helping hand with mechanics and maintanence is always appreciated, it takes a long time to do it yourself. And it would be silly not to touch the ship because then you would not be on it I just meant not flying it without my permission, the controls are a little old and outdated compared to some of the ships out there, and you may not be able to fly it without direction.
And travel sized is always welcome.

I shall endeavor to restrain my impulses to revers-engineer...unless it becomes necessary. Then, as they say 'cross the pond, "All bets are off."

Lord Ashen stood before the swirling vortex of energy barely sustained by a rotating circle of machinery which seemed to be spinning the energy to the casual observer. Lord Ashen stood by the control panel, observing the spinning dials and pressure gauges (the spinning dials were for effect nothing more).
'I unfortunately wont be able to come with you as I need to stay here in case anyone else decides to join this quest or the machine malfunctions in some way. Take one of the watches on the table with you. As long as you have a watch you will be able to return to this world with certainty. You may encounter familiar faces on your journey. While they may the people you know who have come to join you. They may equally be their counterparts in the world you are visiting.'
With a manic grin Lord Ashen pulled the large control stick and the room spun as the energy from the vortex spun out of control and the room melted away, leaving the explorers in the same room but without Lord Ashen. Outside of the room they found signs of great decay as the corridors appeared to have been abandoned long ago....

The juvenile fox frowned, as the colors of the room melted into shades of gray and brown, the vibrant palette now gone from the world. A cold wind bit at her ears, a ghostly draft if there ever was one. Specters of another realm crept along her back and tail, violent chills running up and down her spine. Her tail moved back and forth, and she looked to Ashen, who was no longer there. The owl at her side let out a small hoot, and nudged up against her face.
"....Well? What now?" AJ asked the little owl. He remained silent.

Erimentha shivered and pulled her cloak she was wearing tightly around her. "Hmmm I was at least hoping I would have my ship with us, a nice spot of tea would be good for warming the bones. and make traveling alot easier." She ventured a few steps away from the room to peer our into the abandoned place.
"Looks like there isn't anyone around, looks safe enough. We should get moving."

The airship indeed seemed lifeless with only the sound of barely functioning machines in the background. The ship appeared to all who travelled through it to be merely a shell of itself. Various parts of the hull appeared to have suffered damage and machinery was exposed in places. While not immediately apparent the absence of any organic substances soon became apparent as the adventurers travelled back to the upper levels.
Once on deck the adventurers found that the ship was no longer airborne but had crashed onto a landmass cutting a swathe through the forest and scarring the ground with fractured parts of its hull. Equally noticeable was the absence of any familiar landmarks on the lands around them. In the distance could be seen a town of some sorts but as night was falling it was hard to discern its shape except for a spire denoting a cathedral of some sorts, perhaps....

Quote: Question: Are we in a room or on a ship? And Why are we not all active here? Erimetha, looked over her shoulder at the others and walked out of the room pulling her cloak around her and bending her head against the cold. If they wanted to stay there so be it, but she was going to look around for a little bit and see if she could find some source of power that could possibly help them. She hooked her cane from her belt and held it calmy by her side she eyed her surrounds with a mix of awe, curiosity and caution.

The fox blinked and followed the woman closely, trying to keep up wit her strides. "Where do you think we are?" she murmured to herself. The owl hooted brightly in response. This grim and desolate landscape was unappealing, to say the least.
Her tail flicked in annoyance with this gray palette of a world. "Ashen must be out of his mind if he thinks we'll be able to find his pieces. They could be anywhere, potentially"

She slowed her step for the little fox and looked around a bit more. "Well I'm guessing we're in the same place where we were transported from but in another version of that universe, something went wrong and this is the end result. As for finding the piece, it has power and we should be able to detect it if we find some equipment and if Ashen had told us some specfics." She huffed with a slight annoyance, then suddenly directed her gaze at the owl. "Perhaps your friend could help us spot any threats in the area or a place to shelter." She raised an eyebrow and a smiile tweeked her lips.

AJ looked up to her crewmate, for lack of height, a scowl upon her face. Her stomach churned, and her hand moved towards the owl's feathered head. He was small, hardly large enough to qualify of a scout of any sort, yet just large enough to be considered dinner for many birds of prey. She shook her head. "He's too small" she simply said, and adjusted her small coat. "Those lights up ahead should be a township of village of some sort. We might be able to find lodging there. If they aren't cannibals, that is. I've had the most horrid luck with that as of late. With any luck, though, we should be able to make it through the night" She pulled down her sleeves. The owl chirped, oblivious and cheerful.
