A Freshman Dream...
The bell rang just as Aidan zipped her backpack shut. She mumbled a fast good-bye to her friend in the classroom before darting out into the hallways before the rush of students filled them to bursting. The young freshman girl couldn't see how her friend sighed and chuckled at how silly Aidan was because of her crush.
She maneuvered through the students until she turned a corner, and her nerves got the best of her. The girl held her breath and hid back around the bend, back pressed against the wall, her science book clutched at her chest. Oh.... What if He saw me?! Her heart beat out a rapid taboo as she tried to catch her breath. When she looked back around the corner, to see how long she had to right herself, He was a few feet away from where she was.
Trying to act cool, she walked around the corner, biting her bottom lip to stop herself from saying anything stupid in front of Him. She glanced up to see Him look her way, and all she managed was a small head nod before someone stepped between them, ending the moment between the two freshman, however small it had been.
After that, Aidan just about ran to class, her face flushed with embarrassment and nervousness. Something great could have happened just then, but once more, she let it slip past her control.
Matthew went to his locker and let his forehead fall against the cool red metal for a moment. He'd acted like such an idiot. She had been two feet away from him, and he didn't do a damn thing about it. What he wanted to do was drop his bag off here, rush back to Her fourth period and call Her name. His crush had finally looked at him at the same time he glanced Her way, and whoever that jerk was that walked between them had ruined the possible start of something that could change their lives forever.
The young freshman ignored the call of one of his friends, a lonely girl named Grace that was too interested in him for her own good. He tried to make up his mind. What he should do was just what was running constantly through his daydreams. It would take only a moment, but the things that could go wrong were greatly outweighed what could go right.
Matthew sighed, pushed himself off of his locker and walked woodenly to his classroom. When the bell rang, it only faintly sounded in his ears. His heart raced at the mere memory of Her. Before he could realize what he was doing, the note he'd written to Her was folded up neatly in his pocket.
The teacher told him he could leave to go to the restroom, but what Matthew did was walk over to the locker She used and dropped the folded paper between the slots.
What happened after that, could only be described as a Freshman Dream...
