Rules
Rules are generally divided between two types. normal rules and Insta-Ban rules. Three violations of normal rules will get you banned from doing any activity in the guild for one week. After that week, the ban will be lifted, and you can carry on as normal. But violate them one more time, and you're gone forever. One violation of an Insta-Ban rule will get you banned with no chance for redemption.
✖ INSTA-BAN RULES ✖
(Placed first because these are the foremost rules you need to acquaint yourself with.)
1. Rule of "OH GOD MY EYES!"Absolutely NO pornographic or explicit (like gore) material is to be posted. This is the WORST POSSIBLE violation, in our opinion. Do this, and not only will you be banned, you'll also be reported to Gaia Online moderators.
2. Rule of Passionate EmbraceDo not attempt to "cyber" publicly in the guild. We have minors, for heaven's sake. If you must, take it OUTSIDE of Gaia. (We're not 100% sure, but we've heard that if you take it to PMs you still might get caught somehow so we're not going to advocate that.) Like, e-mails or messengers or something. Minor romance, such as kissing and hugging, are fine. This counts for roleplays, too.
3. Rule of Dwarven Vow #11: Lying is the first step down the path to thievery. If you want to share fanworks and original artworks not done by your own hand,
we highly suggest that there be some form of credit to the original artist, be it mentioning their name or linking back to the source of the art. If you can't figure out the source...you will actually get off fine
as long as you don't try to pass it off as your own creation. Doing so is called ART THEFT, and it will result in a permanent ban from the guild. We deem this to be the third worst possible violation (behind posting explicit material and cybering).
4. Rule of Stalker RightsStalkers have no rights. If we get reports of someone in the guild constantly stalking and harassing someone, that person leaves.
General Posting Rules
1. Rule of Street RespectBe polite at all times to your fellow guild member. Drama is not good. It's okay to fool around at times, but make sure you don't piss people off too badly. It's okay to start debates as long as they don't devolve into flame wars. Realize that people have their own opinions, and if they clash with yours, that does
not mean you have the right to bash them for it.
2. Rule of Dieting PostsDo not stretch pages with posts. If you want to show a large picture, just post a link. As for text... it's kind of bothersome to see a straight line of punctuation or words with no use of the spacebar. If you do it occasionally, we'll just remind you about this rule. But if we see you doing this often with the intention of deliberately annoying people, you'll get a strike on your record.
3. Rule of Constant InsignificanceDo not spam. Unless it's in the Random Nonsense thread. And that still has its limits. Don't bump, there's no use of doing so unless you've otherwise explained your situation and have been given the okay. Don't just simply post an emoticon unless it's as a reply to another post.
4. Rule of Thread NecromancyPosting in a discussion that seems dead (a.k.a. "necroing") is fine by us
as long as your reply is substantial and relevant to the topic at hand. If you make a spammy reply in a dead thread, you get a strike against your record.
5. Rule of Blindfolded TextIf you're putting up a spoiler for anything at all in a thread that has not been marked with a spoiler warning, then hide it under the handy-dandy spoiler tag. It's basic courtesy. Just because, for example, Tales of Symphonia is a 10-year-old game doesn't mean there will never be people who are new to it. Same goes for other games you may want to discuss.
Simply use this code to hide your text.
General Thread Rules
1. Rule of Thread CloningIf you're going to make a thread, make sure it hasn't been covered already. There's no use in making a repeat thread. CHECK to see if your question/topic has already been brought up, and if it hasn't try the threads in subforums. THEN create a thread if you still haven't found one.
2. Rule of Misplaced MarblesCreate a thread in the subforum in which it is supposed to belong in. I.E., if you want to roleplay, have a look over which of the Roleplaying subforums suit you. Do check the fifth post for a guide on which subforum your tentative thread may belong in.
3. Rule of Specialized DisclaimersIf your thread will be
all about discussing the plot (or one crucial point in it) of a game from start to finish, then mark it with a SPOILER sign of sorts on the title so that people who have yet to finish the game know not to enter it.
Miscellaneous
1. Rule of Complete DenialIf you didn't know that something was a rule, we will only let things slide ONCE if you were unaware. You will then be directed to rereading these rules, and any further violations will be counted against you.
2. Rule of Wielding the LoudspeakerThe Guild Announcement feature is open to
anyone, even ordinary members, to use. You may use it to advertise contests you want to run, roleplays in or outside of the guild, your
own guild, and so forth. But the moment this feature gets abused—for example, using it to spam everyone with inane comments simply "for the lulz"—that right will be revoked. Don't ruin this for everyone.
3. Rule of—HEY! LOOK! LISTEN!PLEASE keep your Guild Announcements enabled! Go to
this page and make sure the "Guild Announcement" option box is checked. We want you to keep informed on guild activities like contests, mini-contests, forum updates, and hangout sessions! (Note: Failure to comply with this rule does not earn you a violation, but it's something we'd
really appreciate you doing, thanks.)
4. Rule of Literacy Confirmation (for those who are about to submit a Join Request)You must submit an adequately-worded join request to be accepted. It doesn't have to be long—it just should contain a reason why you want to join and some evidence that you're a fan of the Tales Series. For example, mentioning what your favorite game is in the series. Join requests that are blank or without that information will be declined.
(However, do feel free to inform our Captain by PM if you submitted a join request with the requirements but was still declined. A while back, there was a glitch that made join requests show up as blank and it just might happen again.
