...acts differently from real life and on the internet? I have a friend who is nice in real life but STUPID, NASTY, AND DUMB online. I'm not naming people, it's just on a different website and I think this one too. scream

perhaps they are a troll? I have a friend who is exactly the same, cant say you want to talk to them on the internet but your totally cool with talking to them face to face

None of my friends are like that (that I know of), although my little sister has a friend who is.

Many people change how they act to adapt to the environment. You'd be polite at a fancy restaurant , but probably joke around at lunch with your friends. The internet is host to an endless amount of destructive litany. Your friend is just..following the crowd =x
It could also have loads to do with the disinhibition effect.

For me it's the total opposite. My friend acts like a cranky souless, bitter old man in real life, but on the internet he is extremely sweet, polite, and chipper. It's kinda creepy.... confused

I think I'm one of the people you're talking about, IRL I act all nice around my family and all, but with my friends I'm a little more myself....Online though...I let me be me. twisted

It's annoying when you know the person in real life but not bad at all when it's a stranger.

well some people can act different over the internet because they feel it gives them a chance to change who they are, kind of like a new start.

I'm definately the same on and offline, and pretty much everyone i know is, too. Except in real life i don't end every sentence with a smiley face or 'lol' or something like that.

I showed this site to a friend of mine once. After he made an account he started hitting on me here. I didn't know he was gay, there was no hint of it in real life.
It made our friendship very, very, very awkward.

yeah. mi friend is. hes really weird, yet nice n funny in real life, but mean and unresponsive on here. i guess hes just tryin to be cool. its not.
