A flyer hangs from a wall.

It Reads:
Young Shinigami looking for a devoted trainer and mentor to teach him the basics.

Greetings. My name is Kusari Korosu, and I am an unseated shinigami fresh out of the academy. As much as I believe in my own leadership I would be extremely appriciative to have a senior member from another squad be my training mentor for the shinigami basics. I believe that this will help foster kinship and appreciation between squads as well as provide multiple views on different topics. I'm only asking for maybe an hour or two once or twice a week in addition to me training on my own in order to learn such vital things as shikai, shunpo, and more advanced kido than those that I have learned at the academy. I aspire to one day reach the top, and I can't do it without a devoted guide, so please respond if you are interested.

Kusari Korosu, 7th squad

(((Basically I'm putting this up as a free for all PrP, seeing as I do not know to many of you, and I sincerely wish to train, I am looking for somebody who could possibly post every other day or so in an ongoing PrP that will lead to an in Roleplay relationship between our characters. I would like it to be a 10th seat to LT with shikai and a decent amount of kido, but I won't be stingy.

PM me if you are game for it. Thanks.)))

Kusari entered the grassy field where he was to meet his new mentor. Rounded rocks poked out from the grass hinting that this may have been a river bed at one time.

It was a beautiful day for training. The sun shone brightly, but not to brightly, and a soft breeze moved in from the northwest, disturbing the grass just enough to send small wind snakes crawling across the tips of each blade. Had Kiisho been on earth, he was certain he would have been witness to several children running off to catch them.
His purposes for visiting the training grounds this day were very simple, a flyer had caught his attention, a notice detailing a training request from a young recruit names Kusari. It was sure to be an interesting experience to say the least.
As he rounded a grove of small bamboo stalks, his sharp eyes picked out the recruit, standing in a field of grass and a winding trail of rocks, presumably an old stream.
"Greetings Kusari!" He called out, raising a hand in welcome, "How might you fare this fine afternoon?"

Recognizing the Lieutenants badge from a mile away Kusari quickly dove into a long bow. "Good afternoon fukutaicho. It is an honor to be trained by you. I am doing quite fine today." He raised his head from the bow before continuing. "I am very grateful for your kindness in responding to my flyer fukutaicho, I was beginning to fear it had gone unnoticed and that I may very well fall behind my peers in training." He began to walk through the tall grass, thankful for his long pants as he looked down and saw that it came up to his knees almost.

As he approached Kiisho a lightl breeze caught Kusari's long hair, reminding him to fasten it into a snug ponytail, which he promptly did as he removed the hair tie from his wrist and gripped his hair into a tight fist before sliding it through the hair tie.

Now he returned his focus to Kiisho. "I am ready to learn anything you are willing to teach me fukutaicho." His eager smile quickly faded as he thought, 'oh god, now I know how Foust feels on a daily basis.'

((lol@Foust))

Kiisho smiled softly, holding up his hand, palm forward.
"Please, Kusari-san, there is no need for formalities. I was once a recruit, just like yourself." He smiled again, "I hear that you are wanting to learn some kido. Did you have any specific ones in mind?"

Kusari was slightly taken aback by the comment, but responded to the question. "Well fukutai ..." he caught himself before continuing. "Lieutenant Hayashi," it was slightly less formal, "I was hoping to possibly learn shot of red fire and some kind of bakudo." Being informal with somebody he had never met before was asking a lot of Kusari, but at least he was making an effort.

Kiisho smiled warmly, his mind going back to his first days in squad five, an Yamoto's relentless kido training. He quickly brought his focus back to the present, and tapped his chin thoughtfully.
"Hmm.. your squad should be having a tournament soon.. Shakkaho will be most useful for that. But which Bakudo.. possibly Enkosen? Yes. That will do nicely." He brought his bright blue eyes up to meet Kusari's, a warm smile still on his features. "Very well, Kusari-san. I shall instruct you in the usage and control of Shakkaho, as well as Bakudo thirty-nine, Enkosen. Are you ready to begin?"

Kusari smiled back his green eyes reflecting Kiisho's "Always ready sir." He began to travel towards the crik. "Perhaps we should practice where it is less itchy?" He asked the question in more of a mousy voice than he would usually speak in.

(*Crik is a redneck term for creek, don't judge me!)

Kiisho stopped to think for a moment, then turned to face the grass, drawing his zanpakuto with a single swift motion, and releasing a small amount of his reiatsu, slicing low and clearing a section of the field roughly ten by ten yards.
"That should do for standing ground, and the grass is fresh enough that it will not catch fire when we practice Shakkaho." He moved to the cleared area, then turned to face Kusari. "Speaking of, we shall begin with shot of red fire." He held up his hand, forming a shimmering shield of reiatsu, then throwing it out into the air, where it stopped a few yards away from their current location. "Focus your reiatsu into your palm, then say this incantation; 'Ye lord! Mask of blood and flesh, all creation, flutter of wings, ye who bears the name of Man! Inferno and pandemonium, the sea barrier surges, march on to the south!' As you complete the incantation, release your reiatsu and say, 'shakkaho.' Got that?" He smiled warmly, and pointed at the floating shield, "Do your best to hit that target, once you manage, you will be ready to use shakkaho in combat."

Kusari nodded as a flood of memories overtook his mind. He completely sucked at kido altogether, but hado were exceptionally hard to learn, and this was nearly three times more difficult to use than anything he knew. Nonetheless he grasped his right hands wrist with his left hand and held them both straight out in front of him. His right hand was centered, with the palm out in front of him and his fingers pointing to the sky. His hands were beginning to sweat as he began to say the incantation. "Ye. Oh lord of mask of blood and flesh!" He shook his head as he got the incantation wrong, then he took in a deep breath. '******** it, lets just get this over with.' As he spoke he was clear and concise, almost yelling the words out as he sped through the incantation. "Ye lord! Mask of blood and flesh, all creation, flutter of wings," he paused a bit to remember the rest. " Uhhh, ye who bears the name of Man! Inferno and pandemonium, the sea barrier surges, march on to the south!" He paused for a few more moments realizing he had not finished the incantation and said "Shakkaho!"

Kusari's eyes widened as the red ball formed and launched forward, granted it was the size of a golf ball and was moving at the speed of molasses on a cold winters day, but it was more than Kusari had expected. His pride was further crushed as the ball fizzled out halfway down to Kiisho. Kusari wanted to hide his face in shame, but quickly. changed his mind as he imagined an angered Bull-taicho beating him for being a coward .

Kusari raised his hands once more. He slowed his breathing down as he focused. "Ye lord!" 'breath' "Mask of blood and flesh," ' breath' "all creation, flutter of wings," 'breath' "ye who bears the name of Man!" 'kick it!' "Inferno and pandemonium, the sea barrier surges, march on to the south! Hado number thirty-one! Shakkaho!" The ball formed quickly, and as Kusari willed it forward it launched with the intensity of a cannon blast, hurling towards Kiisho's shield.

Kusari had to blink a few times to register that this was happening, he had actually done it. He had successfully launched a shot of red fire. He was over joyed and yet scared of himself at the same time. Were his failures in the academy based on self doubt as this one obviously was? He staggered forward as reality began to set in, fumbling around for his sake bottle until it grazed his hand. He grabbed it and raised it to his lips as the calm washed over him once more like a cool waterfall. This was reality, that just happened. He re-stowed the bottle and stared at the fukutaicho in disbelief waiting for confirmation that it was indeed real.
