Well I don't really like the English word "religious" because the way I feel about it it implies just adhering to a religion rather than personal genuine faith. Or as if "religion" was a special box separated from other aspects of life, which it should not be. That's just the impression it has on me personally. The equivalent used in my language is rather like "a believer" which I would agree with, if someone asked me if I was one. Because I'm a believer in God and Christ.

No.
I live my life without religion adamantly, however I do have strong principles. They are all just secular.

No, I am not religious.
However, I do have a great reverence and respect towards life and the world we live in. It's secular, but I think many of the emotions involved in how I wish to take care of the others around me are the same sorts of emotions others feel towards God.

I'm a bit curious as to what everyone thinks it means to be religious. I've always seen it as one who practiced their faith in accordance with their particular religious guidelines (only applicable to those claiming to be a member of a certain religion). I guess I'm wondering if people are separating themselves from the word 'religious' because it's now viewed as a dirty word or if they don't really have any religious practices to follow, or if they're more like me and are just non-practicing members.

Semiremis I'm a bit curious as to what everyone thinks it means to be religious. Personally, I would definte "religious" to be someone who is devout and unquestioning in their beliefs. Webster's defines someone who is "religious" as being "fervent," "zealous," and "scrupulously and conscientiously faithful." So a person who is non practicing could be described more as "spiritual" than "religious." But, yeah, I have met a lot of people who say that there not religious just because they don't like the sound of it, even if they totally are.

I am religious if by "religious" you mean someone who technically has a religion. However, I am not religious if by "religious" you mean someone who's devout and unwilling to go against their religion. So, I guess it just depends on exactly which definition you're using.

i spose i am, so i may as well be honest about it.
but usually, "religious" feels too institutional, so i would prefer to be called simply "spiritual".
