So I recently restarted my Emerald game, and I'm trying to fill out my team. I generally play with a set team the whole game through, except when I manage to build myself a team that can't use one of the HMs (which I've done before x_x)
Right now, my roster consists of Ralts, Skitty, Marill, and Aron.
If my information is right this already covers all the HMs except for Fly, which I'm planning on picking up a Trapinch to teach it to when it evolves. I'll also be teaching my Skitty Electric moves as I pick up the TMs for them.
This leaves me with a team roughly consisting of Psychic, Electric, Water, Steel, and Dragon. I still need a sixth and can't decide if I should pick up a Slugma or something else.
I'm not really big on strategy so suggestions that would help cover any weaknesses my team has would be appreciated. Suggestions about what TMs to throw at my Trapinch would be great, too.

Well, lesse. I've never used a Skitty for much, but they are helpful.
Marill is an interesting choice, I (personally) would switch it out for a Gyarados, or Wailmer/lord. You could also probably use some grass moves; going for a Cacturne would be good later on, for some grass and dark moves. Honestly, I'd take out Aron (even if I do like the little bugger), and switch it out for something more useful in the long run, especially against the Elites and Steven.
I also suggest getting a Camerupt for the team; it packs a very nice punch. And if you train your Trapinch in speed, it could be hella-fast, and deliver some nice ground-type moves. I would suggest that Camerupt and Flygon know Earthquake, at least.

I know Aron's a bad choice, but it's so cute, and I've never played a full game through with one xd
The Wailthing suggestion sounds good, though, I've never played through with one of them either surprised

for a fire type, i wouldnt do slugma, because in general its stats arent very good, even when it evolves into magcargo, its stats are still bad. camerupt is a very good choice, but you've left out your starter, is there a reason for that?

I like to mix my teams up, and I've already got at least one Emerald team with each starter sitting in my boxes in Pearl. i guess i can see that, but if ur making a whole team that can pretty much beat any other team of pokemon just by their type, its good to have a starter, and 5 other pokemon of different types.

I agree, it would be good to have a starter in your team, at least until you beat the elite four. Good choice with Skitty though, normal types are versitile when it comes to learning different moves.

Blaziken
Gardevoir
Ludicolo
Pinsir
Flygon
And Raichu?

To tell the truth, I beat Sapphire without my starter in my final team. xD
I actually used Cacturne more.

Camerupt and Glalie were my secret weapons when facing the elite four.
Get a numel/Snorunt as soon as possible.

I'm used to getting pwned by the champion a few times before I make it through anyways xd Nothing surprised me more than the first time I beat Cynthia with a team I hadn't played against her before xp

I beat the E4 on D/P the first time I battled her. xD
The only challenge was her Garchomp (and I had a team of Lv. 50's).

Every so often I get a team that will annihilate the Garchomp. Usually it smacks me around so much that her Milotic can finish me off, though.
