Hero’s eyes fluttered open. He bared his teeth softly at the sun and turned away, looking at the orange lioness asleep at his side. Ordinarily this was the part where he tip toed away and left her sleeping. In fact it was their second night together. Just like yesterday Hero woke up, looked at her and felt his legs melt beneath him, his heart fluttered and the sun on his heart.
He felt like this before. The question was how long would it last this time? Usually the feeling lasted for weeks and gradually faded away. Sometimes it settled in and stayed for months only to beat him senseless after the lioness inevitably packed up and left or she threatened him with a fat belly.
No, this time it will be different, Hero thought.
He always thought that.
Part of him knew he was wrong.

Manorama snorted in her sleep as she rolled over her paws on the other who she happened to fall sleep next to. She didn't remember what happened, all she did was this strange dream. She yawned as she felt that her body wasn't going completely down to the ground as her feet were sticking at an angle because of the other. And instead of a cold rock, something warm and fuzzy was there. Well, it was surely odd. She opened one eye slowly to see a mass bit of orange with some pink.
A bit of memory came back to her as she looked from the body the mane, and soon she remembered everything. She smiled up at the pink maned boy. Today was a good day, walking up to someone so handsome who seemed to like her for the moment. It could change any moment, for that's what normally happened. Once they got a piece of how she truly was, they tucked their tails between their legs and ran.
Which was probably the best. What if she hurt them? Or one day forgot she was with them? Which could happen. She forgot things for a split second that caused a ton of problems. But she supposed she should enjoy this while it lasted. For love for even a short time was better then none at all. It hurt bad, yes, but it showed how alive she really was. "Morning" She said in a groggy voice.

When her warmth touched him he laid his head on her’s without thinking. Sometimes he wished all his days could be like this. Someone to warm his side at night. Someone to help welcome the morning. New love always made him forget how nice it is to wake up with just the sun on his back and the world beneath his paws. Another day, another adventure with someone new. “Morning.”
He looked around. Clear skies and open horizons. He laid his head on his paws, in no hurry, and looked up at her with questioning eyes. “Have you ever heard of a place called the sea?”

Manorama tilted her head and looked at him. "You mean the ocean?" She asked him. "I've heard stories, but never actually seen it." For she never knew where to look for a mass body of water that you couldn't drink for it tasted so bad and made you feel as if you needed to drink more of it. Maybe even dissolution's eventually.
"Why do you ask?"

“Someone told me about it a long time ago. She said the water stretches out as far as you can see, to the end of the horizon, maybe even to the end of the world, and the waves wash up treasures. Ever since that day I’ve been making my way there. I’ve been taking my time, seeing the sights along my way, making new friends,” he smiled up at her lifted his head.
“I have a gut feeling this is the last leg of the journey. I bet if we walked south east for a couple days we could smell the salty wind blowing in. That is, if you wanna come with me.” He tilted his head at her, his smile begging for a yes.

She shook her head. "I was told there are worlds beyond ours." She said with a nod. "From birds, and other flying creatures." She listened to a lot of things. Sometimes they made her seem crazy, but there was a small chance that whatever she said could be right. And this was one of them.
"I don't know if I can walk for that long." She told him. 3 days straight seemed like a long walk. What if she wanted to do something else. Or forgot what she was doing in the first place? Would he want to still go with her then? To walk with someone who was probably completely crazy.

“I’ve heard similar stories,” Hero commented. He wondered if the sea represented another world beyond this one. Hero believed in gods, other worlds and spirits. Most of what he knew about these things came from stories he heard during his travels, but he believed what he believed based on the conviction of whoever happened to be telling the story.
“We can take our time,” he offered, smiling. “I’m not in any rush. I’ve always preferred a wandering, lazy pace to walking in a straight line day after day. It makes life more interesting. Know what I mean?”

"How long do you think it'll take to get there?" She asked him look at him. He was much bigger then she was, but she didn't see that. His brightly colored fur seemed to pop out at anyone, but to her, she was looking at his eyes. His beautiful purple eyes. How she wished she had them so. She blinked and looked at him. "Perhaps we should count out steps as we walk?"
"Is it cold?" She asked "The ocean?" She wasn't sure how cold it was, for her eyes or paws have not touched such a thing that had been described to her. She wasn't one for water, but the soul idea of having a mass of water bigger then the land she was on just amazed her.

"Of course we could," Hero answered without hesitation. "You might have to remind me to keep count. Sometimes I get a little lost in the beautiful landscape. I suppose it will take as long as we want it to." He smiled at her. The way that she looked into his eyes made his stomach twist into knots, but in a good way.
"I don't know if it's cold. I've never been before." He blinked at that and started to streatch. "But I guess... well, I was told the ocean is like a giant watering hole, so maybe it is a little cold."

A rush of sadness almost washed over him by looking at his beautiful eyes. No! She couldn't let this happen. She had to act sort of normal with him. Maybe then he'd continue to like her. She gave a weak smile at him, she was trying to pull out of this overwhelming sadness that she had no clue why it came over her. His eyes..... They just made her sad. Perhaps it was because she knew that in the end they wouldn't be together. Or something else might happen causing a tragic turn in events?
She turned her head away. "I'll try to remember, though I'm like you. I don't pay attention too much" Lies... she only didn't pay attention to something the moment something else caught her attention and seemed to be better then what she was doing before. Though, today, she was distracted with bad thoughts with a mix of good ones... What was this that was coming over her?
"We'll just have to find out then." She nodded "I was told you couldn't drink the water, because it made you sick."

Hero cocked his head slightly, holding onto his smile even as she looked away. There was something odd about her. He only noticed it through fleeting glimpses. Her strangeness was enchanting, yet she seemed repelled by it so he didn't want to ask.
"I've heard that too," he replied, hoping to distract her. "But the fish still drink it and they're good to eat. It's a mystery." He finished streatching with a shake of his vibrant mane and started to wander in the direction of the rising sun. "I heard there's a pride that lives by the sea. When we get there maybe we can ask them."

"maybe there's lots of prides that live near the sea?" She said with a nod. "I also heard that water goes towards the sea, so when you see the sea, you see fresh water running into it." She nodded again. "That's what my ice god friend told me. He's really smart." she noted. She hadn't met someone more smart. If she didn't know better, she might have said she had a small crush on the cold male. But she didn't. He was just fascinating.
She figured they'd walk for a day or two before actually getting there. It seemed like it was going to be a rather boring trip. She hummmed to the sound of nothing but what was in her head. Forgetting everything else, like counting her foot steps as she went.
