So, its flu season, (and the week after homecoming) and the band kids at our school are dropping like flies. 14-16 kids are out in each band class. (there being about 35 kids in a class at our school)
A couple days ago, we only had one trumpet that wasn't sick. The day after, only one saxaphone showed up to school. Instrumentation is all messed up, and we just got two new songs as well.
The funny thing is, the low brass section is the only section whose members aren't getting sick. Our band director likes to say "Low Brass, constitution of bricks!"
Discuss- Has the flu bug hit your school? Why is the Low Brass the only section not getting sick?

I already got the flu a month ago. I probably had a slight fever for two days (I had band all day both days, so I didn't notice), and then I had a fever of 102-103 for about a week. Missed a whole week of school, and learning a lot of the end of our show. It suuuuucked. xd

Ah yes, the flu. I have the flu. SO NOT FUN, but I showed up to our last home game today only because I'm a senior and tonight was senior night and our last home game. I'm sorta regretting it, but not. In a way. If you get what I mean. >> I think I made it worse, but I just HAD to be there with the band.
If my knowledge is correct a few of our members are out with swine. I'm not sure, however that's what I've been hearing. I really hope they're all ok. >=

Unfortunately, it has. The second and third chairs in my section were extremely sick over the last week. My third chair made it back, but my second chair had to miss our concert.
Our first chair french horn almost didn't make it, too.

On Monday rehearsal only sbout half our marching band came. Our BD was angry. What is even more sad is that lmost the whole band was sick(second time this year) and people who were sick were coming, but most of them did not. he priased us all for beng there at the rehearsal, and said that the only way we can get out of rehearsa is if we are hospitalized, barfing, dying, or unable to breath.
And now I'm sck. My whole family got it before i finally started getting it yesterday. And then I had band rehearsal, and a competition today. And of course today I am feally nauseas, which isn't good. I'll still go, because I don't want to let everyone down...And besides, If I live up to Monday, i want to live longerXD
But yeah, the dreaded runny nose, stuffy nose, slight nausea, lightheadedness, occasional coughing and chaped lips is still here. I got my wish for my sore throat to be gone, but unfortuantely I was given nausea andd chapped lips in exchange>.>

Seven people who attend my school have swine and are being forced to stay home.
I caught a cold at the homecoming game. I had a runny nose, an awful cough, and a headache. The cough was violent at one point, in which I ended up getting laryngitis as soon as my cold settled down. I'm still a little sick, but healthy enough to go back to school next week.
I'm kinda scared since only 15 people showed up to band practice this week and we have our state competition today...

About 1/3 of my band was out sick yesterday for our homecoming game.
There were about four rows between the guard and the flutes in the stands because we could move up so far. o-o
And half of the people who were there were coughing too.
My director's now put a ban on getting sick. XD Probably right as he gets whatever we've all got, too. It happens every year.

I had go home from practice a couple days ago 'cus I got really sick, and I missed the next day when we were going to play at a dedication for our school. =/ Our drum major has also been very sick, she was out all week, I think she has the flu. Hopefully our band doesn't get wiped out, it's marching season and we have shows to do at the football games almost every Friday. Luckily our BD is really nice and makes us put our health before the band. He always says, "do what you have to do," anytime there's a problem.

two weeks ago we were missing almost everyone
one of the days we were out on the field we noticed that there was only one flute and one pic, one trumpet, 3 clarinets, one sax, and there was not a single horn playing rookie there
my section (low brass/reed) was all there though, and so was almost all of the percussion section
everyone is slowing coming back though
