She was lost, completely lost...despite being blind she normally didn't get lost, but with these visions. Her paws would be firmly touching grass one moment and then the vision would come and unknowingly her paws would move directions changed and she would wake panting, head throbbing on sand. She leaned against a tree now firmly trying to anchor herself while her mind whirled.

When she had wished for sight she had not realized what a blessed relief utter darkness could be. The pain in her head slowly faded and she allowed her body to slowly relax in turn. So many visions of so many things, wolves she had never even met and did not want to now that she had seen their fates. Yet she did not see her own, why? Aching she lifted herself and moved to try and find water, carefully inhaling and moving her paws in steady drags to keep on track.

Stryder wondered what had befallen the she-wolf, the blind female whom he had first met after a lonesome life of wandering Telk... before he met Wraith and Schatze.... Schatze. He was in love with her... being close to her now and in the underground dwelling they had made for each other was perfect.

But really, had Venda gotten revenge on the pack who had hurt her so? How had she been dealing with no sight? He had afterall become less than mute but how could you fix not being able to see?

Stryder could not yet believe what he had not seen. He had heard of those with special powers, but where were they when he had been enslaved? Where were they when he was forced to fight against others, to fight for his life so handicapped? He still could only believe in himself, and those he had met. Venda was reliable. A great friend. In Wraith Stryder found a leader. Someone that could be his support as much as he could support. And in Schatze... he found a wolf to share his life with. A wolf to share in his love.

In all this, Stryder hadn't found any deity or power to show differently.

Venda staggered into the stream her paws submerged in the water, she bent her head and gulped thirstily. She no longer took food or water for granted, both were precious to her, equal to all the other things she had once imagined were simple. Sight, smell, hearing, taste, how quickly those things could be distorted or taken. Some might call it luck that now the powers that be had gifted her with visions even as her own true eyes remained useless. Venda considered it a curse, a cruel curse.

She cringed and her back arched as she felt a searing heat in her skull but she took this one easier, for this vision was familiar and comforting. Stryder, her one time friend...he looked only slightly different then she remembered. As the vision slowly faded she moved out of the water and sat down with a pain sigh. "I hope the world is treating you better Stryder..."

Her nose twitched and she frowned confused, was her nose somehow still caught in her vision? Her senses fooled? He smelled so close, the familiar scent of her friend.

Stryder paused. The stream he had padded closer to... it didn't completely mask the smell, the scent of any other creature. It wasn't surprising but what was surprising was the scent. It was familiar, like one he had smelled before.

Stryder cautioned himself. His ears under the hood were alert, poised to capture the sounds not regular of a stream. He searched and paused at the voice. His name? Who would he know of here? It sounded feminine.. but Schatze was home. Could it be his reminiscing? Venda?

He padded closer to the stream, he saw a wolf, and it certainly looked like the wolf he remembered as Venda but she looked different. The green band around her eyes was different, and she had something around her neck.

"Venda? Is that you?"

Stryder made sure his scent was upwind, so he didn't totally startle Venda. It was safer to not make another feel threatened and unsafe.

"Stryder?" Her voice was shaken as she stepped forward confused. Was it really finally a familiar voice? A voice she knew? A wolf who's face she could place, finally a welcome vision.

"Stryder is that really you?" She shivered with excited hope stumbling forward again. Oh it was, it was! Her ears perked at the soft sound of his pawsteps had she not been blind and so reliant on her ears and nose she might not have heard him. Her nose twitched as she inhaled his rich scent.

"Oh Stryder!" She leapt forward then eager to really feel for herself if her old friend was really there.

"Venda?" Stryder moved forward. It must be her. after all, she knew his name, knew him and she was similar to the venda he had once met before.

Stryder paused before the she-wolf. He stayed still, almost stepping back but successfully resisting the temptation to, allowing her to see with her paws if it was really him. He knew it must hurt her so, not being able to see him. To confirm with her eyes his being before her.

"I am Stryder, but.. you look different," Stryder confirmed. "How are you?"

Stryder after all never was one to say too too much. Having had the inability to speak for so long, there were times when Stryder just preferred letting his actions to speak for themselves.

She buried her nose against his fur for a moment and inhaled before stepping back and sitting down her paws shaking under her. "It really is you...I...I saw you, but I never know if it's real the things now that I see..."

She heard his comment on her difference and held back a bitter laugh. "Yes time, and many other things...have changed me I suppose, though I can't see myself I can imagine. Do I look terrible?" She leaned forward overwhelmed by the chance to actually speak with another real live companion.

Stryder smiled, and stayed still, letting Venda know for herself he was here. But.. what was this about Venda seeing him? Was she able to see now? How was that possible... or was it some type of figure of speech?

Stryder shifted, settling his paws to support his body better. "You saw me? You see things now?"

Stryder heard the bitterness... was she this bitter when he had met her? Did time really change her so?

"Not terrible, but different. The cloth around your eyes is different than what I remember. It looks good."

Stryder nuzzled his friend a bit, saddened trying to cheer her up.

How wonderful his words were, a comfort to her shredded sanity she frowned at his questions. It was so hard to explain, would he think her crazy or understand. She thought for a moment how to answer how to explain.

"I, I have these visions now...they come and go at random, they hurt. It's like seeing, but not with my eyes." She had no explination for what it was that happened to her, only to know the things she saw either happened or had happened...or were happening.

She felt a painful ache at the base of her skull and frowned, not now...not when she was with a friend. She wanted to enjoy this moment, savor its peace, yet the pain slowly swelled, uncontrolled.

Stryder listened to her explanation, not completely understanding what she meant. Were those rumors true? Did wolves really have mystical attributes? It seemed to explain how Venda might be able to have these visions, seeing but not with her own eyes.

"I think I understand Venda," Stryder answered. But Venda didn't seem to like these visions, for all the sight she had lost. His eyes watched as her look grew more and more, to look as if she was in great discomfort.

"Are you ok Venda? What's wrong?" Stryder whispered, he didn't want a loud voice or noise to hurt her if she was in discomfort. He nuzzled her, trying to comfort her.

Venda leaned into Stryders nuzzles and tried to concentrate on the feeling, but the vision sucked her in as much as she fought it. Her legs locked and her spine arched in pain. Always the pain, why did it hurt so much? Was her body too weak to handle the magic that coursed through it? Or was it simply her lack of control over her strange ability that did this? If only she could learn how to control it, to stop the pain at least.

She gasped softly through clentched teeth.

She was in a den Stryders shape was blurry, Schatze was a blurred shape as well. The crystal clear images though, as if a light were shining right on them, four healthy puppies. Theirs coats were a clear blend of their mother and father and she smiled at the clear sight of twins.

Her vision tunneled in and out and the scene changed the pups larger now and running. She frowned, there were only three in this scene.

Again the strange tunneling and the scene was different Schatze sat with three teens, another bounded over and cuddled close to her happily, a reunion, the four pups again together.

Venda felt her legs finally give out and she flopped beside Stryder panting, her tongue bleeding lightly from where she bit it. Slowly she regained her senses, all but sight of course. "I'm...I'm alright..." She muttered hoping to assure her friend.

Stryder made a keening whimper, not able to help Venda as her body arched with pain. She leaned into him and the only thing he could do was stay steady, for her to stay upright and not crumple to the floor. He looked around frantically, finding a space nearby if needed if Venda collapsed.

Stryder tried to comfort her in her pain as she gasped, the coppery scent of blood was present in the air as she clenched her teeth. She must have bit her tongue in the pain, trying to not cry out. Stryder nuzzled her once more, licking her blindfolded face, as much as he could with the contraption around his jaws.

"Are you ok Venda? What happened?" Stryder asked. He looked to see that if she was pained once more, there weren't any near by. His eyes roamed around, and he turned his head more to see further around.

He nudged her face, softly, and said, "We should move you over to a more comfortable area. I don't want you to collapse into the stream on accident."

Venda staggered weakly away from the water, the effort to get on her feet was terrible. Finally she managed well enough and crumpled again sinking into the grass with a sigh. She managed a weak smile for her friend, her vision this time hadn't been random, or bloody, or terrible. It had been Stryder's beautiful future and for once she was mildly pleased by her strange power.

"I saw..your mate, and your beautiful pups." She wasn't sure if they had already been born or would be born someday in the future, or even if Stryder had met his mate yet. Such details were not a part of her visions, and some visions were past or present or scarily enough from the future.

Stryder was.. not quite sure how to react. He had followed Venda, there to watch if Venda would collapse into the water. She thankfully did not but had only been able to make it to collapse on some grass.

But this... this vision Venda must have had. There were wolves who had some strange powers. How else would Venda know of his mate Schatze. How did she know he even had a mate?

... but what was this about pups? He didn't have pups yet. Stryder was quite sure Schatze hadn't given birth to any pups but... in the future? Could Venda see the future?

"Pups...? But... Schatze and I... don't have pups," Stryder commented, amazed. He was going to have pups? Be a father? "Can... you see visions of the future Venda?" He whispered questioningly.

Venda placed her muzzle between her paws for a long moment before sighed softly and nodding. "At first...it was just mild headaches, pains, moments of dizzyness. As time went on it got worse, until the flashes started, they hurt so badly, but I could see things, not with my eyes though. Finally I managed to see longer...a few minutes here and there, or to focus enough to catch a glimpse of something that really was infront of me. I never know if the things I see are...past or present or future."

She sighed and lifted her head slowly, she probably looked as weary as her voice sounded, it was obvious that this new gift was taking a toll on her. "I can't control it though...not really." She murmured softly.

She forced a soft smile and took a deep breath. "But...yes I...I did see your pups, you're even going to have twins, their all so beautiful Stryder." She wanted to tell him how happy she was for him, but it hurt deep down, she knew she would never have a family like that. If this gift of hers didn't kill her it had surely isolated her, it was amazing she was even still alive with the way she had to 'hunt' though in truth lately she had been more scavanger then hunter.
