The earthquake seemed to like it had happened yesterday, but in truth it had been many moons ago. Now the two gladiator brothers seemed to be wandering the Rouge lands in search of scattered pride mates. The search it self was pretty discouraging. Already it had been a while and no rumors and no faces had popped up.
Justinus wasn't about to give up though. The leopard had high hopes, after all, Binadamu was a pride of strong citizens. There had to be survivors.
However, right now, the leopard was lazing on a rock. His brother had enough drive for the both of them. Justinus didn't feel the need to constantly be up and searching. It had been for ever ago after all. The leopards tail twitched slightly.
The sun felt so good on his pelt. If he was a house cat, he'd be purring right now.

Timur stumbled out of the brush and into the clearing near the leopard, unaware of the company. His tongue dangled out the side of his mouth like limp fish and his sides heaved from running so far so fast. He was so tired he couldn’t even yip. The evil-spirits had chased him all the way through the sparse woods. Usually he only happened to catch a spirit standing in the corner of his vision as it tried to sneak up on him, thinking he wasn’t paying attention to his surroundings. This was not so. Timur remained vigilant always.
This time, even though he never let his guard down, one of the evil-spirits snuck up on him and started pelting him with rocks. Fortunately he managed to escape. As he exited the woods he spun around and backpedaled for a few steps, gasping for keeping his eyes on the twisty, leafless trees and gasping for breath.

Justinus's head jerked the way the hyena had entered. His purple eyes studied the creature with great interest. The hyena seemed pretty spooked about something. Had it angered some larger predator and just lost it? That seemed the most likely of answers.
Justinus shrugged and continued to lay on his rock. The sun felt to good to get up. But that didn't mean he wasn't interested in why the hyena was so bugged out.
"Failed attempt at scavenging ?" The leopard watched with a half amused smirk on his maw. He wasn't being smug, Justinus really was interested. A good story to take his mind off of what he was supposed to be doing sounded nice.
"Or perhaps an angered lover?"

Timur spun around, sucking in air to shout curses and gnash his teeth at the clever spirit that snuck up behind him, except that what he saw was not a spirit, it was only a leopard. Or was it? Timur paused to take another breath and collect himself. No, it was not a shapeshifter. Shapeshifters didn’t talk like that.
Considering the leopards query, the hyena closed his eyes mirthfully and let out a choking cackle as he shook off his coat. His mane was a messy bush that stuck out in all the wrong places. His coarse, dusty fur looked unpleasant and uncared for; the kind of fur you wouldn’t want to brush up against.
“A scorned lover he thinks,” he muttered in a gravelly voice raspy from running. “Who needs love? Only fools needing someone to tell them that they matter. No, the first one is more correct. A failed attempt to scavenge some carcass.”
He crept up to the leopard, studying him but never looking him directly in the eyes. “I am getting away from here while I still can. You should do the same.”

Justin gave the hyena a confused luck. Maybe he had angered some entire pride if he was this spooked. The leopard let out a lazy yawn and slowly stretched to his feet. So much for sun bathing he supposed.
"My my, something big is coming then now is it?" The leopard leaped down from the rock and landed with a practiced grace felines tended to have. His neck craned to the side waiting for some further explanation.
Justin found it odd that the hyena didn't want to meet his eyes. Perhaps he was a slave of some sort. Justinus knew alot about slaves coming from a pride that had great use for them. That seemed pretty likely.
"Have you angered your master?"

Timur had a simple reason for averting his eyes. He spent most of his time alone and it made him uncomfortable with company. He found it hard to focus on another creature’s needs. Hard to trust, too. “Big. Bad. Evil. All you need to know is if you value your life you will leave this place quickly, before it comes for you, too.”
With that he started heading away from the boulder and the trees, leaving the leopard’s question to hang on thin air.
The truth was it was the baboons who threw the stones at him. Even if he saw the baboons he would have assumed they were evil spirits taking monkey form to confuse him. Timur believed anyone that tried to harm him was just an evil spirit in disguise.

The leopard cocked a brow at the hyena. Obviously he was way spooked and... paranoid. Not that this leopard didn't believe in gods , he just wasn't completely sold on the evil spirit thing.
Justinus just watched with a half amused smile as the scruffy hyena started off on his own way. Now the question was to let the little scruffy guy go on his merry little way or follow after in case he was right... Okay follow after because quite frankly, Justinus was amused. Highly amused.
"Im coming Im coming, " He shook his head and started off the direction the hyena was headed.
"So... these spirits.. " Justinus paced slowly behind the hyena. Following after in an attempt to appease the interest in him.

“What makes you think they are spirits?” Timur growled, glaring at the leopard. He didn’t like to talk about the evil-spirits. Whenever he tried to tell another animal about him they always laughed. After they finished laughing they usually attacked him. Whether they attacked him because they believed he was deranged or because an evil-spirit had heard him and temporarily taken control of their body, he could only guess. Timur did not like to be attacked. If this leopard pushed the subject he would have to attack him first for his own safety.
He looked away, refusing to say anything further on the subject. “If you are a slave trader, look elsewhere for prisoners. I am a free dog, one who is not about to let himself be captured by some cat. I have some pride.”

The leopard looked astonished, did he come across as a slave trader. The leopard took a seat , the smile never straying from his maw.
"You are a free dog, I'm not interested in slaves so far away from home." Though he didn't deny not having use for them. There was plenty use for them but slave trader work wasn't for his paws.
"Spirits you say. " The leopard looked back over his shoulder and swallowed a laugh. He highly doubted spirits had anything to do with this but he didn't want to start a fight right now. Justinus wasn't sure if he wanted to learn more, swallowing laughter was harder then it sounded.

“Not a slave trader he says. Just look at him.” Timur turned to Justinius with disgust.
“You have the airs of a slave trader. You who think yourself better than the rest of us walking on this earth when, in fact, all meat eating animals are equals. We are the ones who struggle for existence whiles the grass eaters laze about all day in a field, never dreaming of having to run and kill for a decent meal; not a damned thought in their heads. No creature that looks upon his own kind and sees himself superior to them is worthy of trust.” He finished with a gruff, dismissive sound, as if he found this tangent meaningful. He added, “I would like to know more about this ‘home’ you are far away from, so that I may avoid it in the future.”

The leopard continued to smile and just shrugged, "I'm sorry if I offended you sir, " He looked up at the sky and closed his eyes a moment , drinking in the sun rays. Finally after a long moment he stretched lazily and got back up.
He turned his back on the hyena and headed back for his rock, tail twitching here and there. Sure he thought he was better then some creatures back home in their lands, but he wasn't about to force his home land ways on a hyena.
The leopard jumped back on his rock , stretched , and curled into a ball. Ahhh, this was what he had wanted to do.

“Hmph. Egotistical fool,” Timur muttered to himself as he stalked off. He mused:
“There is no point in associating myself with a creature of such low intellect. Fools abound out here. What a pity.”
