The series of songs (Japanese name: Aru Uta-Utai Ningyo no Kiroku) I am obsessed with from my favorite producer, Seiji/Sokkyouden-P. Gyaaaah, I even found his official site for this series. (But it's all in Japanese and [oddly] no copy/paste-able text in the Music section so it would take me quite a while to decipher it. @A@;; )
I love it because of its dark fairytale feel and (for lack of a more accurate term sweatdrop ) classical sound. It's sung by Kaito and Kaiko. smile I was wondering if anyone else is a fan, and follows it and figures how it all connects. I'm still trying to piece it together myself. ^^;;
The songs, in order of release date, with translations. The phrases next to them are Seiji's little descriptions, taken from the site. ^.^
Snow Violet Girl "A single flower blooming on the battlefield."
I figured "snow violet" instead of just "snow" because the title actually reads as "Yuki Sumire no Shoujo". "Sumire" refers to the violet flower.
It's the story of a girl from a snow country, played by Kaiko, and her growth on the battlefield, to her days in prison.
Curse of the Summoner "Who is captured by the curse?"
When I figured out the title as "Kotodama-Tsukai no Noroi", I could not figure out how to translate into a coherent English title. The meaning of the word "kotodama" threw me off. o_o;; Then I found this set of photographs on dA based on the song, and thought that title made sense. 3nodding
This one is about twins who are sorcerers, portrayed by Rin and Len. They are supposedly like two parts of a whole, but Rin wants all the power.
I think the translation is a little off. I'll explain if asked. ^^;;
Couple of Evening "Only one arm to embrace with..."
A humble scientist lives a peaceful life with his wife (played by Meiko) and two children. They are supposedly the parents of the sorceror twins! Thus, this song apparently takes place before The Curse of the Summoner. Anyway, the Snow Violet Girl pays this couple a visit, which turns out disastrous...
There are also a few translations I felt were off, and I'll expand if asked.
Patronage of Kentei "For it is difficult to lose more than anything else..."
It is explained by ymiyass900 that "Kentei" means "clever emperor", but in this case, it's used more as the name of a person.
The emperor of a far north country (played by Mikuo) falls in love with a supreme songstress (Miku) who seems to have an ailment that is eating away at her life. Mikuo searches the world for a way to prolong her life, but becomes drunk with power and all the destruction he caused.
There were also a few translated lines I felt were off. Again, I'll expand on it if asked.
Songstress of Demise "There is only one voice that marks the end."
Title in Japanese comes out to "Shuuen no Utahime." "Utahime" totally means "diva", but I felt the word "songstress" fits better with the feel of the song. Yes, "shuuen" translates into "demise"...leastways, that's what I found going through my Kanji dictionary. xp
This song focuses on Miku's character this time. The gist I get from it is that she has a curse cast upon her by Rin. What it all leads to, I'm not sure I completely understand, but I think it has to do with the scientist from The Couple of Evening (who is in a murderous rampage by the end of that song).
The Records of a Singing Doll [Arranged Medley]
No translations yet, but it is assumed to be just a summary of the series. Note about the language:
ymiyass900
That language is a coined word of the author. Although It is a coined word, the meaning seems to be added to it.
I find it pretty amazing that Seiji made up a language for his songs. =D
While this isn't part of the series, I like to think of it as a prequel:
Elsetetra, Witch of the Mirror Water
Sung by Luka, with Kaito as backup. =D I think of it as a prequel because there's a part in the PV where you see Mikuo's character (I think?

So, what are your thoughts on it all? surprised
