Age of Mythology is an RTS PC game, where you build an economy, sometimes from the ground up, and send your army to fight against other civilizations. These are the basic rules to Role Play AoM. 1) When you start an AoM RP, be sure to separate it from other RPs by adding "-AoM-" to the end of the title. 2) The title will be the equivalent of the game Chapters. I do not mind setting up a full story in different topics, but please close the topics as they finish. 3) The OP will responsible for providing their own skeletons if they do not wish to use the default skeletons, which will be posted here. Post your profiles in the thread you wish to join, unless otherwise instructed. 4) If you have a god other than the gods in AoM then feel free to use them, but only if you are confident enough with the pantheon to RP with them, unless otherwise instructed. 5) If you wish to start a large scale story, please PM me, and I will help keep track of the story as it progresses. You will be playing as a hero character, and through your hero character you will control your villagers, who will build your civilizations. Please keep in mind that any post count you see will be your posts, not the posts tallied by the RP itself. :TABLE OF CONTENTS: 1 ) Introduction 2 ) Resources3 ) Structures4 ) Units5 ) Levels6 ) Stories7 ) Characters8 ) Battle SystemFrom 9 onward will be a demonstration of the battle system.

This post will be to show how much each member of your civilization will cost towards your population limit, and how much it costs to hire each unit.
Villagers - 50 food, 1 pop Primary Infantry - 60 food, 35 gold, 2 pop Secondary Infantry - 60 food, 25 gold, 2 pop Primary Range - 55 wood, 35 gold, 2 pop Secondary Range - 60 wood, 20 gold, 2 pop Primary Cavalry - 36 meat, 72 gold, 3 pop Secondary Cavalry - 63 food, 36 gold, 3 pop Primary Siege - 150 wood, 200 gold, 3 pop Secondary Siege - 300 wood, 200 gold, 4 pop Myth Units* - x pop
*Myth unit cost is variant depending on each myth unit, and their pop cost is dependent on their use and size. A small myth unit (Scorpion Man, Anubite, etc.) is 2 pop, a medium myth unit (Manticore, Nemean Lion, etc.) is 3 pop, and a large myth(Collossus, Ice Giant, etc.) unit is 4 pop. A scouting myth unit (Pegasus, Raven, etc.) is 1 pop.
The following will be the cost of naval units.
Fishing Ship - 50 wood, 1 pop Transport Ship - 120, 2 pop Arrow Ship - 100 wood, 50 gold, 2 pop Hammer Ship - 100 Wood, 50 gold, 2 pop Seige Ship - 100 wood, 100 gold, 3 pop Myth Unit - 200 gold, 15 favor - 5 pop
The following is where you will be able to hire these units.
Villager - Town Center Infantry - Military Academy Range - Archery Range Seige - Fortress Myth Unit - Temple
As you can see, you will have to gain a level before you can hire any attack forces. The naval forces are a bit different, though. All naval units will be hired from the docks, but the units you can hire depend on your level. The naval units you can hire will be as follow.
Fishing ship - lvl1 Transport ship - lvl2 Arrow ship - lvl2 Hammer ship - lvl3 Siege ship - lvl4
Naval myth units are special, however. If you chose a sea god as your minor god, only then will you be able to use them, and you will be able to use them after you have that god's favor. This will be covered in the next post.

Leveling up is fairly simple. Leveling consists mostly of sacrificing to your god a certain amount of resources, but you must also have certain structures before you may advance in levels. Below you will find the leveling process.
You will start off at level one (unless otherwise instructed), and to advance to level two you must offer 400 food and have built a temple.
To advance from level two to level three, you must offer 800 food and 500 gold. You must also have built an armory.
To attain level four, you must offer 1000 food and 1000 gold, as well as having built a market.
To level up you must do as listed, but attaining the level will take the time frame of three posts. There will also be a period of five posts between leveling, so that if you have the required resources you can not gain the levels all at once.

This post will be to keep track of characters. I ask that you post your post your characters in the thread you wish to join, but if you PM your character to me, I will post it here so that you do not have to continuously rewrite it as the story progresses, and can copy it from here. Screenname: Hero Name: Major God: Appearance: Weapon: Race: Original Characters are more than welcomed! You are also not limited to drawings or accurate pictures, but please try to be accurate about the clothing for the time period. Time periods will also be colliding, more than likely, so focus on your character more than the story timeline. Screenname: The Atrocity Exhibition Hero Name: Ragnar Lodbrok Major God: Odin Appearance: LodbrokWeapon: Sword Race: Human Screenname: ymihere538 Hero Name: Nebmaatre AhmoseMajor God: Set Weapon: Magical DaggerRace: Human

Now comes time to explain the battle system. The battle system will be role played, but it will revolve around the roll of a dice. The warring parties will roll a singe twenty sided dice, and the winner of that exchange will be the one with the higher number. This will go on for a best of three out of five exchange. For each victory of the roll, the opponent will lose ten of their units, as the max number of units per battle is 30. This is not limiting your forces to only thirty units, but the number you may control at one time will be limited to 30. This is, of course, unless you are instructed otherwise. If there are allied forces, then each player/hero controls thirty per army.
You may be wondering, though, where levels come into play. Well, they come into effect during battle. After each roll, you will add your level to your roll. So if you roll a 13 and you are level 1, your final number is 14.
Following this post will be a demonstration of the battle system so that you will get a better understanding, if needed.

Nebmaatre marched in front of Ragnar's army, commanding a force of thirty units counting himself. Ten Camelry made up the front line, followed by nine War Elephants, and then ten Chariot Archers made up the back line. Behind the entire force was Nebmaatre himself, but he wasn't hiding. He was saving himself for the last, and best, part of the fight. Besides, he knew that if he died, the town would be unable to defend itself if the forces got past here, so staying alive was crucial.
With that, he ordered for his forces to attack. The Camelry rushed towards Ragnar's front line, holding their formation, while the War Elephants lumbered slowly behind them. None of this happened, of course, until after a round of arrows was fired from the Chariot Archers. Nebmaatre watched the diabolical attack unfold.

The arrows hit 4 of Ragnar's archers, 5 of his Ulfsark, and and one of his Berserkers. Ragnar growled, raising his battle axe and letting out a vicious yell. His Ulfsark and Berserkers drew their swords, and he and the thirteen remaining members of his infantry rushed Nebmaatre's front line, while his six archers drew their bow strings back and fired.

Nebmaatre grinned at the good start he gained in the battle. A good deal of his infantry was already defeated, and he had yet to lose a unit. He continued to standby as the Chariots fired, this time more accurately to avoid causing friendly fire, and the cavalry engaged in combat against Ragnar's infantry.

Ragnar never considered retreat as the remaining four Ulfsark fell, along with three archers and three berserkers. His remaining archers fired another round as he and his Berserkers took on the enemy front lines.

Nebmaatre was very pleased with how the battle was proceeding. He decided to further boost the morale of his men. "Alright, we have them on the ropes!" he shouted to his forces, "Now all we have to do is finish them off! Make sure none of them get away!" With that, he joined the front lines, along with the Camelry and the War Elephants, and they all took on the remaining front lines of Ragnar's army. Meanwhile, the Chariot Archers continued to fire at Ragnar's archers.
