So this is my documentary of my trip to Canada
It's not a critique thing so I'm putting it in here lol.
It's a narration by me and entirely true.
lol don't post till I reserve 5 posts for all 5 days.
I wrote this to entertain myself and keep from going nuts.

Day 1

So, as you know, I packed and signed off iscribble before going to Modesto city Airport. It is a ghetto airport—so tiny that the security didn’t bother showing up till 5 minutes before the flight because it took less than that to deal with everyone. It was the fastest security check ever, and the first time I used that airport. I’d guess there was 8 people on the flight, including the staff. 4/5 the flight was empty.

I REALLY wish I had sat in an empty seat a couple rows further back than my assigned one. There were maybe 5-6 passengers and 25 seats to choose from, but I wanted to be a good girl.

I didn’t notice at first, but I was deceived by the thrill of getting my own row and window to myself in the midget plane. The horribleness only dawned on me once they turned on the plane’s engine that was outside my window. The flight attendant screamed her directions about exits and oxygen bags over the noise in a Mexican accent. The plane promptly took off with my whole body vibrating from noise and the power of the engine that was shaking the whole area.

Thankfully, we were just flying to San Francisco in this plane, which was about 2 hours away by car. The traffic added an extra hour in general, because traffic is really terrible in that area (remember this for later). It took under 15 minutes to fly there. It was just up over the mountains, bay area and there we were. It was pretty but I was glad to be done with the shiatsu massage from hell and a jet engine.

We finally stumbled off the plane, and I tried not to shout at my father from hearing loss. Eventually my brain stopped vibrating and we got on those moving sidewalk strips in the San Fran international Airport. I got dinner at a crap pizza place that was nearly as bad as my university’s dining commons. If you ever go to San Fran, get clam chowder in a bread bowl. It’s cheap and better than most the stuff you can get there. ALWAYS get a bread bowl.

Soon after eating, we got on our United flight to Vancouver, Canada. I was sitting in the second to last row while my dad got to go in “Economy plus.” I was just thankful I got a window and I didn’t have an engine next to me, or creepy people. The plane was entirely full.

I sat back, and waited for the exciting moment the plane would take off into the evening sky and I could watch all the Canadian city lights while flying over them (flight was taking off at 7:10pm)….. and I waited… and I waited… and I waited…

I wrote some of a mini story while being bored to death and began mourning my dying ipod headphones that would now only work on both ears if I help the cord in an awkward way and kept it that way. I was waiting, and falling asleep in that pose, I’d wake up when one ear went out and I’d have to channel it again.

Eventually the Asian flight attendant announced, “The first officer is stuck in traffic and is going to be late. He got caught in the wave of people from a soccer game… you know how those are…”

I actually face palmed at that point. I passed more time by answering a form for the Canadians customs that asked obvious questions like “Do you have a gun with you?”

We prepared to take off almost an hour late. Which then, the captain declared we had to wait on a new push out crew because the original one had left.

“Boy everything’s going right with this flight!” A college kid next to me told his mom. I whole heartedly had to agree. With a miracle we finally got off the ground, and I discovered I had a great view of the sun glaring my eyes out my window, and clouds once it set. No city lights for me. I was too tired to work on anything, and too hyper to sleep, so I vegetated the whole way to Canada.

I was just glad we didn’t crash when we finally landed at 10:10 PM.
The airport was pretty, since they’re preparing for the Olympics over there. We got our suitcase after struggling in the line for customs for 20 minutes. Outside was nice, cool, and moist—the opposite of California.

My dad refused to call my grandparents who were supposed to pick us up, and looked for them instead for almost thirty minutes. He gave in and got my uncle on the phone. I knew from past experience they’d either gotten lost or had left because our flight was delayed. I don’t think there was ever a time they ever met us on time and in the right place before.
Thus, I wasn’t surprised when my dad, on his iphone, said that nobody was coming to get us. My grandparents didn’t believe my uncle, Stanley, when he told them they were supposed to pick us up. So we waited another half hour for a free shuttle to go to the hotel.

The three Asian people were waiting in the lobby for us there. Grandpa is Chinese, and Grandma is Japanese. Both of them are as small as I am…. Both are in their 80s, and my uncle is in his late 40s. I hid behind my giant uncle Stanley, since he’s a clear foot taller than anyone else in our group and I find him most agreeable.

We checked in and got great rooms. I watched the TV news to see Canada was having the same fire problem as California—I felt right at home. I checked, but the internet was extra, so I just went to sleep.

I’m writing this as I go along, so you’ll see jumps from past to present tense to make it sound like you’re coming along with me. I fully expect more chaos, since we always have at least one token getting ubber lost event when my dad is organizing anything. Right now I’m in the car writing this (on day 2), and expecting one to happen sometime soon.
