This just came to me, a topic about making Wudu. Can be quite intimidating for new Muslims (well it was for me) So lets go over making Wudu :] And should I make a mistake, PLEASE tell me. My feelings wont be hurt, i am not perfect and i wont be offended. First! Wudu is required If you do these things: flagellating, using the restroom, waking from deep sleep, bleeding wound, or sexual activity. Also, when women are on their monthly, they cant pray (i think, im pretty sure) I shall type in steps smile
1) First, say 'Bismillah' in English it means 'In the name of Allah'
2) Wash hands first, from fingers to wrist. Repeat 3 times, from right hand to left hand.
3) Wash mouth & nose, make sure it gets in your mouth and a little in your nose. Dont hurt yourself. Put the water on your mouth & nose with right hand, then brush it off with left hand. Repeat 3 times.
4) Wash face from forehead to chin with both hands, repeat 3 times.
5) Then you wash arms. So from your fingers to your elbow. 3 times for the right arm, then 3 times for the left arm.
6) Now you wash your hands, shake the excess water and run your hand over your head from front to back, then back to front. And clean ears gently from inside to outside with your fingers.
7) Now for the feet. Clean from the toes to just above the ankles. Clean right foot 3 times, then left foot 3 times.
8 ) Finally, you repeat:
"Ash hadu an la ilaha illal lahu wah dahu la shareeka lahu wa ash hadu an-na muhammadan 'abduhu wa rasulhu, "Allah hum maj 'alnee minat taw-wabeena, waj 'alnee minal muta tah-hireen."
In English is....
"I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and I testify that Muhammad (SAW) is His slave and Messenger, O Allah, make me one of those who constantly repents to You and of those who purify themselves" Insha allah, that is correct because it is what I have been doing since i reverted.

Yes, that's what I do, and I come from a muslim family. Also, you're right- a woman on her period doesn't pray, and doesn't have to make up the salaat later, either.
Also, if you've petted a dog, you must do this too, or if you're really dirty {playing in the mud or something}. You want to be clean before you stand between the hands of Allah!

waiting dear I thought you have to wipe your hair aswell. Is it? I'm confused! Well yes, dont soak your head or anything, just run your hand from your forehead to the back of the neck, and then from the back of the neck to your forehead.

Actually, if you pet a dog, I don't think it breaks the wuzu because dogs are actually pure. But if the saliva of a dog comes in contact with skin/clothes, then yes, wuzu is necessary.

Yeah i agree that if you pet a dog it does not break your wudu, but I thought if the saliva of the dog touches you you have to do ghusl because dog saliva is impure. Also if you are really dirty it is better to change your cloths than to pray in the dirty ones, but that does not mean you have to do wudu over again. This is because something that is unclean isn't necessarily impure.
