The other day, I was in the local sensuality shop, looking at the various sex toys and books of erotica amongst the porno videos when it occured to me that I, in all my 21 years of living, have never actually USED a sex toy. They come in all kinds of sizes, from the famed "pocket rocket" to the "super schlong." There was even vibrating UNDERWEAR!
I was amazed. All of this pleasure-driven stuff for women? Who knew?
They even let people try out the various vibrators and dildoes against their hands (the movement of some of the vibrators felt pretty weird against my palm, and lots of them looked kinda like alien penises or some kind of weird sea cucumber).
On top of that, they're really expensive. One pair of vibrating breeches can cost you up to fifty bucks! O_O
But the biggest thing in the way is how a lot of men seem to think in regards to these objects of tingly pleasure; namely boyfriends and significant others.
I've discussed with many of my male friends about what they think about women using sex toys, and the answer is usually around a similar vein: "She'll think it's BETTER than me!"
Now, I've heard a lot about porn and how it's used as a masturbation tool for the tons of males out there who need a little "lovin'" before bed.
So how is a sex toy any different? Why is it a "tool" when a guy wants to watch blonds being boffed by "dickman" but it's suddenly a threat to his manhood when a girl uses a vibrator on her clitoris?
So, for discussion:
*The pros and cons of sex toys *What is preferrable/the best value *Why a lot of guys don't like the idea of these "tools" for women to use. *Double standards *Vibrating panties. *And anything else related to it.

Well, about the use of toys on women...
Guys have a very easily crushed ego when it comes to sex. Sorry, fellas, but you know we're all at least a little insecure about it.
I mean, if you've been with a lass for a few months and it's been hot and heavy, then she suddenly goes out a buys a toy, it's gonna seem like he's not doing it for ya. I've seen guys go paranoid over this. It's a subject to be approached carefully and well...before you buy the toy.
However, if she had the toy beforehand, it seems like a different story. Most guys don't care, and will use it in play with their lass if she had the toy first.
But then there's a group of males who understand a few things about human sexuality and will encourage their lady to buy whatever they think will help out in the bedroom, living room, kitchen, or bathroom.
Of course, I've known girls who've said the same negative comments bout boys and porn.... so I guess it's not quite a double standard... but ah well.

Hmm...where do I begin... Oni-Angel *The pros and cons of sex toys Well the pros are obviously that you don't need the other side of the sex formula to feel that kind of pleasure. And they can be quite a party starter for couples that are open minded enough to try them. The cons, however, are also as abundant. Firstly, if a (wo)man uses a toy too much, then they become used to it, and not their partner, and when its time to try the real thing, they find it hard to summon the will to put it to them and feel any genuine pleasure from it. So in short, toys can add a lot to the sexual experience, if used as an addition to the sexual experience, and not as a replacement to it. Oni-Angel *What is preferrable/the best value Depends on what you and your partner look for in a toy. Some like a toy or two (sometimes 3 or 4 o.o) thrown into the mix to bring out the fun in sex. Some like inclines for easier access. *kinda lke one of those wedges they use for wheelchairs, but adapted for sexual purposes. Don't ask how I know that ninja * If you're going out to the club and don't feel like reaching for the vibrosword, panties that vibrate to the beat would be best for you. *yes, they DO make and sell these kinds of panties* Oni-Angel *Why a lot of guys don't like the idea of these "tools" for women to use. It's a man's natural instinct to fear what they can't use for their own pleasure. The toy can give the woman what they can, and possibly even do it better than him! Which is another reason they fear it. And for some men, it gives the woman a chance to feel that kind of pleasure without them having to be there, and thus, they seem like they have no purpose in being there. And also, toys don't say, "Woman, make me a sammich!" xD It's what men are used to. They learned sex through porn, and have adjusted to masturbating to it, so for them, its just another thing. And they don't see it the same for woman. If something even LOOKS like it can do their job better and effectively replace them, then they're threatened by it. Hmm..thats definetely an intresting toy, and a good way to conceal something that pleasurable. Perhaps you would like some for your birthday? xD Oni-Angel *And anything else related to it. I would recpmmend the panties that vibrate to the beat. Very fun way of hitting the dance floor. xD

Awesome topic Oni ^_^
I feel that sex toys in a relationship should be addressed when the couple starts thinking of experimenting (or if you're like Skire and me and I just go crazy horny sometimes and he can't keep up). Nothing says that the sex toy must overthrow the man when it comes to pleasuring his lady and it really shouldn't. It's a tool that any man can use to be a better lover and maybe his partner would benefit and love him even more for it.
Some girls hate having oral sex performed on them and they don't feel comfortable using fingers so why shouldn't the man use his nifty vibrator to let his lady climax.
No man can be replaced by a toy and really shouldn't feel threatened. A toy can make you c** but it can't cuddle you once you're pleased. Not to mention rub your back or massage you with manly hands when you just wanna sleep.

Personally, I think that if the girl appreciates the toy as an enhancement or supplement to sex and not a replacement for it, that's cool. If they've become psychologically adjusted to it, though, then that's a problem. As for ones that I think are the best, I'd have to say more classical vibrators. Some designs double as fine massage sticks, which is a handy double-purpose that both men and women can appreciate. Also. http://uncyclopedia.org/wiki/Hello_Kitty_Vibrator.... That said, I fail to understand vibrating underwear. Unless you really want to get horny at work or in other places where a vibrator is sub-appropriate. In 99.9% of these places, though, getting horny at all isn't appropriate, so... WHY?

Well, the "threat to his manhood" thing has actually happened. But it's mostly the guy's fault for buying her the "Verga de fuego" model. See, some men fail to realize that a vibrator shouldn't be bigger than him. pocket rockets work just as well, and you can use them while having sex, without a hitch. They just buy what would turn them on if they saw her using a sex toy, without thinking of the consequences. Buy her a big fake d**k, and if she likes it, she'll probably get bored of your smaller weiner. It's only obvious. People need to think before buying, especially when it comes to sex toys.

*The pros and cons of sex toys: Pros; It's a frigging tool that provide sexual pleasure for AS LONG as the battery holds out! What's better than this! (For you who will say chocolate, I say c** a little!)
Cons: It costs money for them and for the batteries.
*What is preferrable/the best value: Well, that depends on what you're looking for.
*Why a lot of guys don't like the idea of these "tools" for women to use: Who said we didn't like the idea? I think it's a great idea. I guess men that complain that it would replace them, are probably crappy in bed, or have serious inferiority complex...may even be scared his girl might find something better for her and leave the poor sap.
True man fear not the power of plastic dildos.
*Double standards: I like pie and pie loves me. *Vibrating panties: a definite yes. *And anything else related to it: Boobies re mushy.

I've been lucky enough to only date people who not only don't care that I use vibrators, but both my vibrators have actually been bought for me as presents from my current & most recent ex boyfriends.
I now only have 1 good vibrator (the other broke after a long time of serving me well) & one... vibrating razor.... they're semi-waterproof, so good for the shower.... Very good buy (being that it was only $1 or $2 more pricey than a normal razor... which I needed anyway... & the head is detachable).
My boyfriend knows it's got nothing to do with him... we aren't together 24/7 (even though we live together) & we aren't always both in the mood.
I heart my boyfriend.

I really would like to invest in one, but I'm rather shy to enter a Sex Shop by myself...the last time I tried I saw a creepy guy in a coat. For real. He was looking at the section I was going for. ~twitches~
Generally, I agree with most with what the others have said, and would emphasis that it depends on the person and the apparatus...My one friend claims the Bunny is the best while the other likes the good old classic bullet one.
The guys who have issues with sex toys are either too narrow minded or immature or as others have covered razz
There will always be double standards, even if we have it made illegal to have a double standard, they will continue to exist.
Vibrating panties would be interesting, apparently Angelina Jolie has a pair that Brad can control and stuff because he's been talking to Jen again peacefully and Angie is kinda getting jealous or something? o.O

I've never entered one of those shops myself...I'm a bit too young to, though it would be fun wink . However, I'm a bit shy and self-conscious, so it may be hard for me to get the courage to do so...Eh...Note to future sex toys (AKA boyfriends (or maybe girlfriends?)) of Spiffy: Buy her sex toys. Lord knows she won't be able to herself.
