I agree (about plot), lots of people here do. It's one of the things that make Gaia unique, and one of the things that make us more than "just some other website". The trick is making that a priority for the company as a whole, and figuring out how we'd do it right. The main artists are busy pretty much 100% of the time with projects to keep the company afloat -- like EIs, MCs, Cash Shop items, Sponsorships.

I would personally like to see them writing the plot, then having a team of dedicated artists (possibly outsourced) rendering the story.

Is there anything that users can do- or you suggest we do- to help bring this to the attention of the rest of the company?
Is there anyway we can help support something like this?
And could you use volunteers or do they have to be paid to help plot?

Fleep
Mostly, we just need artists. They would likely have to be paid, unless we could get a commitment from volunteers, but without the contractual and financial obligation, it's hard to rely on volunteers for regular releases (or even to obey what we ask them to do, which we would need).

As far as what users can do, just keep posting your feedback. Not much else you can do.

So basically- we need find out if we can invade the site feed back forum, or chatterbox, and continue bring people to the cause as an organized group at some point.

Remember- he said some of the corporation is for it. We need to convince the rest by using the resources we have.

I suggest coming up with a game plan to invade the chatter box- and site feedback.

But the site feedback thread would have to be more focuses- like one Gaia would benefit from plot.

Another showing why users like plot.

And so on- I'm terrible at making threads- so I need a little help with these ideas.

Sounds interesting. What you need to do is make a thread in Site Feedback pertaining to having several volunteer artists helping with the events and plots. There are surely a few artists out there that would be willing to follow the rules, surely. We need to make sure Gaia knows they're there.

We can start it out as a petition, and have our signers give the "main feedback" in the thread. We'll build up our position from the ground up.

Crazy, it's amazing how it's suddenly taken so much for the site to stay afloat...
They used to do just fine back before all of the cash stuff...
Well that's another conversation though.

But you have to think of the increase in users- which means more servers- plus running Zomg, plus paying the increased staff to handle all these problems- and stuff.

Brain wave!

I know that there's a bunch of excellent artists somewhere spread out between the different forces.

We could always create our own mini-comic of our experiences during the plots.
With I dunno, a different artist for each mini-comic or a collab?
Fill in where the Manga left out, basically.

But a petition sounds good too. biggrin

That's not entirely true. Before the cash stuff they had a serious investor keeping them from going under, and then they brought in the banner ads, and then they brought in the cash stuff as a way to keep the site going without having to paste "Coka Cola!" All over the logo... I mean... did you ever see the old sponsor pamphlets? (though... I have to admit, everything that they brought in the cash stuff to avoid doing they've now done with skittles...) They were not in the black back then either. But as they grow, so do their expenses. Though I wish it wasn't the case. But America *is* still in a recession (Canada has officially been declared to be out of recession ninja ) so they're not getting as much user support as they used to. At least percentage wise anyway. So they're trying to come out with more stuff to try and attract people that otherwise wouldn't spend their money.

I don't particularly like it, but I also know there's nothing I can do about that fact. So, for now, I will just continue to encourage them to try and find the time/resources to do something that will bring back people's connection to the site and make them WANT to spend the money to keep it going. I know a few people who have stopped spending money because of the lack of quality plot...

The Zurg event is what got me interested in this site. I noticed alot of people left after the event ended, like the was no more fun. To increase Gaia's activity they need a plot. I bet if they looked at the online activity they had back then versus the activity they have now they'd see. Think of this while you are at it. All these active users telling all thier friends about a fun plot making more users join. The more users and user activity, the more you will see them wanting certain items and thusly leading to more monthly donations to help the site along.

I mean, the Zurg plot was great for the simple fact that they gave an idea and left us to our own muses. I couldn't believe the imagination flowing out from one simple plot. We had so many different organizations trying to figure things out, working with the information they were given and drawing their own conclusions. Hell, Look what came out of that plot. User made organizations. Believers, Gaians In Black, Gaian Resistance, The Zurg Hive... Those are just the popular ones. There were literally hundreds more.

I believe that I'm a roleplayer and I believe that imagination and interactivity are the two most important things in a roleplay. Gaia plot gives us the chance, it helps those who have a hard time imagining things up and the interactivity is on such a grand scale because everyone is doing it. We had good guys, bad guys, and guys trying to just stay neutral and figure stuff out. It was all around fun, you have to come to terms with that atleast.

While I'm willing to admit that the Zurg event didn't exactly end as planned. However, in life we learn from our mistakes, it's trial and error. I'm sure the Gaia HQ could make a better plot based on the information gathered from the first one.

In short I support this for the fact it would be all around beneficial to both Gaia and users. Besides, Ryu needs to get his hands dirty again... twisted
