If anyone is just looking for a little inspiration, take a look at http://www.csszengarden.com . It's a site that follows a similar idea to the Gaia profiles: there's a set html that you have to work with, but you can manipulate the content using CSS and your own images. It's aimed at graphic designers, so there are some AMAZING layouts in there, and many of them demonstrate how powerful CSS is with their arrangement of the various pieces. I always take a look through the official designs there when I'm designing something and feel uninspired, so I thought I'd share it here ^_^ I haven't yet created a layout that I think is worthy of submitting to CSS Zen Garden, but I hope to get a design in there eventually.

A few of my favourites:
1 | 2 | 3 | 4

Anyone else heard of it? Any favourites?

I never heard of it, but I love the Mozart one.. and the Manhattan edition. It's lovely. Though I don't really see how we could implement these things on Gaia, it's a nice inspiration source indeed. heart

Edit: Oh, and I LOVE Vertigo. @_@ <3

You can 3nodding Given the original Gaia themes for the profiles its easy to get stuck in the mentality that you have to stick fairly closely to their two column layout, but with some absolute positioning you can pretty much move the sections wherever you want. Take a look atChe`'s profile - he's moved completely away from the default design. You have to be careful playing around with absolute positioning because different browsers might display them differently, but you can acheive the kind of effects in CSS Zen Garden 3nodding

I'm bored of my layout now, I'm gonna try a fun flowy one to be different when I can whee

Oh my, that's interesting! @_@ It looks like it's dying in my CS window, though, so I suppose I'll just stick to the two-column idea... xD; It's nice and neat. But maybe I'll try and work out something different as well. @_@; Exciting... <3 I'm just not so good at coding. n_n;

xd Exciting to think about huh? Or maybe that's just my geek showing through sweatdrop

Oooh ooh, found another favourite , and it wouldn't really be hard to do something similar on Gaia because its just a simple two column layout 3nodding

Whoaaa.... now that's an impressive tile! It must be so hard to make something as complex as that tile well O_o

It's nothing on this design though. It's hilarious xd

Aw, thanks for linking my profile (sorry to IE users xP). heart

That last CSS Zen layout, this had to be my favourite part:
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

I've seen the idea of a thread where you post what not to do in the WF.
It's amazingly successful, I'm all for the idea.
