Was it true? Was he an adult, a full fledged, mature, all-knowing adult, right? Well certainly physically the wolf had grown to an impressive size and some amount of maturity had come with advancing older, wisdom slowly catching up to him. But despite his physical endowments he had attempted to keep his body to his ideal stature to the best of his ability, his psyche far more important to him than any sort of advancement he could gain through barbaric display of brawn over brain. He...well, he wasn't a he at all as far as he was concerned. And knowing his sex told him otherwise, Davii attempted since was young to keep himself trim, more femininely shaped. This wasn't successful except for the fact that his weight was kept down. His thin body was a testament to his effort.
His mind hardly changed. Davii still enjoyed childish games. Adored running, and anything physical that wasn't violent, and was still plagued with the usual confusion and uncertainty in just about everything he tried. Though he had become more understanding, exceptive even, to his mindset, it was still a difficult concept to fully embrace, even in himself. What would his parents say if he told them he was female? And Twix? Well, Twix had never liked him much, as much as he could tell, and had made the point from when he was little she didn't care for his bright pelt. It wasn't like he could control it. If he could change he, well, he would. But that was out of the question and something he was still trying to accept.
The obnoxiously colored wolf slunk forward, his hips swaying with a youthful energy. With his nose to the ground, he slowly made his way toward a small creek within the territory, his own miniature sanctuary. Dipping his head forward -though slow as to not drop the neatly balanced wisteria between his ears- an equally pink tongue lolled forward, lapping at the water while droplets clung to his chin. Davii was absentminded now. Letting his mind wander over various subjects while his defenses slowly dropped. He was an easy open target, and he didn't care.

It was not a foreign concept for Uthero to be teased just a small bit for the writing on his flank or for his purple tipped ears and purple paws. He took it with the ease and was unswayed. He was cool and playful about it even.
He knew there was a bit of scandal over his and his siblings' birth. But what could he do about it but support his family and move on with it. He heard that his and his siblings' birth was painful for his mother. After all, she had laid in the den, tired and exhausted for a while.
Uthero wasn't a judging wolf, and he took this in stride. Maybe it was high time to get out there, really meet the wolves of the pack his mother was in.
So, Uthero had gone out, away from the safety of the den or the watchful eyes of those who watched his mother's den. He knew there were others, adults, who watched his family in the wake of his mother. He gave a nod of his head to those he couldn't see and went off. He wondered if maybe there was a quiet place in the pack territory. Somewhere he could just be alone, away from the eyes for a bit and just think.
Wandering through the brush, he heard the small sound of a watter current and the peaceful air attracted Uthero. He padded through to see the water when he noticed the bright shape. He blinked, wide-eyed. A wolf was here! But... he was sorry for the intrusion.
Uthero walked closer, not rushing but making sure he wouldn't startle the older, larger wolf into attack him. He wasn't sure if he was capable of defending himself. "Hello," Uthero greeted, a smile on his face.

It took a moment or so before the larger wolf had realized the small pup intruded upon his secluded paradise, but when he heard the ruffling of leaves he gave an immediate jump, startled into action as to make up for his previous defenselessness. Blinking, he whirled back, looking at the youth with silent tension, having expected someone much larger and much older. What he found instead was a relief Davii couldn't explain -he preferred the company of pups to adults any day. A smile grew upon his own maw as he heard the greeting. His reaction was without thought.
"Hello," he greeting, his smile just as friendly. His tail wagged behind him as to convey his gentle intention. The little fellow was a deep gray with only a few interruptions, including the unique lettering upon his spine which Davii curiously observed. Regardless of how fascinating this was, it was the markings spindling up his forepaws that truly caught his interest. Pink...well, violet, maybe with a hint of purple, wound up his legs, dove between his eyes, and dipped his ears. Was this a pup belonging to Akiiki Chibale? Finally! He wasn't alone! Someone, even just slightly, was like him!
"I-I'm Davii," he told him, giving a small nod, "Who are you?"

Uthero couldn't help but cringe as the larger wolf jumped. Thankfully he didn't hurt him in getting startled like Uthero had momentarily feared. He smiled at the larger wolf, showing that he didn't and wouldn't ever mean any harm.
"Nice to meet you Davii." Uthero told his name, "I'm Uthero. I'm a pup of the lands. My... my mother is Venera. You probably know of her. My siblings and I... we were a tough birth for our mother. You haven't heard of us?"
Uthero pondered. This wolf didn't know of him or his siblings? Quite curious. The other wolf looked like he had been making himself look like one of the females of the pack. That didn't matter. The bright pelt was no matter. Wasn't it just natural? That's what he always thought when others tried to tease him. He was after all, his mother's son.
"You looked troubled. Maybe I can help you with anything? Or get your mind off of things?"

He grinned, accepting the name, but listened further into his explanation, knowing full well the scandal that his very sister was involved with. He hadn't met the pups before, was hardly even around for the birth, and hadn't the chance to speak with Venera since, not really knowing what to say to the female he wasn't very close to prior to this incident. And Davii had no reason to question any of his sister's motives or decisions.
"I, well, I-I have," he answered him truthfully, moving to sit back on his haunches and hopefully lessen the gap in size. "But I really haven't met any of my sister's pups. So you're one of them? It's a pleasure to meet you, Uthero, I guess that would make me your Uncle?" Actually, they weren't even remotely blood related, as far as he could tell. Venera was adopted by his own parents and Davii had no idea who the father of these pups could have been, but he doubted anyone directly related to the little family.
The fact that the ebony little pup had questioned why it was he hadn't been known about them almost stung. It was his own fault for growing so distant with his family. He felt himself emotionally secluded so in turn he isolated himself physically.

It was easy. Uthero could almost feel that this "uncle" was troubled. It felt like it came from what he had said. Was it something to do with the pack or the family? It lightened Uthero's heart to see how his uncle had shifted to his haunches.
"Woah, nice to meet you Uncle. Great to know I have a great family and pack member in such a fine wolf as yourself," Uthero smiled, grinning at Davii.
He tilted his head, smiled, and wagged his tail. What was he to do? More and more his uncle seemed to be thinking about something that was troubling him.
"It's ok, you know, that you haven't met me before. I mean, I am young and I don't even know many other wolves either."

The compliment was almost foreign to the violet male but appreciated all the same. Was he really a valued member of this pack? Certainly he had his good points but he wouldn't describe himself "fine" or any other reason to add to the prestige his pack already held. Regardless, he smiled and accepted the comment, nodding and turned it back around to the pup. "As am I to know my sister has such a great pup," he answered truthfully, his tail wagging.
"And I'm glad you've forgiven me. But I think it probably would have been best to make myself a bit more involved with you and your siblings," he answered him, giving an honest, calm expression, "But I agree now is as good a time as any to get to know you. Come to think of it, how did you find your way here?"

Uthero ducked his head. He wasn't sure how to deal with any type of pup and his uncle had just said that he was a great pup. He wagged his tail, and grinned at his uncle. He was happy to make someone be proud of him, proud of his family.
"We can get to know each other." Uthero supplied. He padded a bit and then sat on his haunches. How did he get here? "Well I had left the den and the watchful eyes... and then well I know I wandered a bit into the brush and when I heard some water I came here."

Davii watched the small pup for the time being, his eyes light and open. His posture was portrayed his emotions; he was sitting calmly with the occasional wag of his fluffy navy tipped tail, with his head low as to face his young companion. His ears cocked forward as well while his black nose swiveled every now and again to take in whatever scent wafted his direction. It was his job as patrol to keep watch, even when distracted.
He listened to Uthero's explanation as to how he got here and gave a nod. "Ah, that's very similar as to how I found this place the first time I fell upon it. It's peaceful, I always come here when I want to calm down or think. You're welcome to come here anytime you want, of course," he added, lifting his head to give a sheepish grin.

Uthero smiled at his uncle. His ears twitched and he wagged his tail. It swayed even faster at his uncle's comment. He could stay here, this wonderful sanctuary. He liked Davii, he was a great wolf. So willing and kind, so open to a young pup such as himself. Uthero took pride in being familiar to him, knowing him at least for this time.
This was a great place, serene and peaceful. Was this the reason Davii was here?
"Thanks!" Uthero thanked him for the invitation. "I'm sorry to intrude here into your sanctuary. I didn't bother you when I came in did I?"

He shook his head, giving him a small smile, "No, though you did surprise me," he said honestly. He pulled his tail around his hips further and looked back out at the water. A petal from the flower topping his head fluttered down, touching the surface creating a myriad of ripples. His blue eyes reflected the scene for a moment before he looked back at the pup, unsure of what to say or offer him.
"S-so, ah..." he fell short, fidgeted, and grinned once more, "Seems like I can't think of anything to say. So...do you get along with your siblings?"

Uthero slumped. For all his helpfulness and his love for his family, he hadn't really seen much of them. He certainly wanted to, he liked being nice to his siblings and he certainly would never hate them.
"Sorry to surprise you then," Uthero smiled, friendly like.
Uthero shuffled his paws a bit. "I... I think I do. I haven't been around much lately, talking to them myself. But I love them."

Davii listened to him, amused by the apology, not expecting anything and he didn't respond, having felt it wasn't needed to begin with. He watched him as he explained, noting the body language he expressed as he thought of his siblings, and Davii wondered just what sort of relationship they held. Uthero gave a pretty clear insight, though. And the bubble-gum pink wolf immediately understood, having been there himself.
"Ah," he muttered, "I know what you mean. I was the same with your aunts and uncle." His tail flicked but his expression hardly changed. It was thoughtful, contemplative even. "I don't know why, maybe it was my own fault, but even though I love them dearly, I can't exactly say we're very close. Hmm...maybe that's alright though. I think your love for them is all that matters.

Uthero's head perked. Was he so similar to Davii? His uncle? Was it really this easy to connect with another family member this way? Uthero was nice, he did all he could to be helpful. He loved his family. But he didn't know why he just couldn't connect. He felt... disconnected from his family even though the ties of blood and fang connected them.
He tilted his head, eyes contemplating his uncle's expressions. "I see," Uthero muttered. "Is it really our faults? We love them... we love our brothers and sisters... why can't we connect?"
The young pup perked up. "Well so long as we love them, it's alright... right?"

"I'm not sure why," he answered truthfully, having wondered that himself on numerous occasions, but he couldn't pinpoint an answer. Davii had his suspicions, his own internal carvings that certainly he felt obscured him from a firm relationship with any of his family, but was that truly what pulled him from becoming closer to those he had been born with?
Looking back down to the pup, he gave a firm nod. "I think so. It's better than not, anyway. And your love means you will be loyal. If they ever find themselves in a bind, you will be there to assist." His thin tail tipped back before curling around his hip.
