Ilythara's eyes intently and slowly took in the alleyway carefully. One of the slavers had come this way and she wasn't about to let him get away from her now. She had followed the damn fellow for the past hour and a half now and was getting tired of the game. She wanted to unleash her bloodrage on him and kill him off already.

The alley way was strewn with boxes and all manner of trash, so there were areas where the vermin could have hidden. Her eyes narrowed when something moved over on her left..and she strode over silently, avoiding stepping on the trash strewn on the ground in front of her. Her lips pursed into thin lines as she eyed the dumpster and the old futon mattress that had been tossed into it at an angle. A perfect spot for a miserable wretch of a slaver to hide.

The vermin wouldn't have to be hiding if he hadn't belonged to the group of slavers that had accosted her earlier that day and nearly did her in. Fortunately..she had been able to adjust to their fighting styles and turned the tides on them, causing them to scramble and run off. Still...she had been fuming about it after her fight and decided to get even with the miscreants that had ruined a perfectly nice day for her.

She had been able to destroy six or seven of the vermin and rescue a rather distraught healer as well. She had gained some herbs that would help with keeping her nightmares at bay, and thus ensure her a good night's sleep. Of course when the remaining slavers had returned they had noticed the bloodshed that Ilyth had left behind in their hideout and gone in search of the person who had absconded with their captives and killed off their mates. Had they realized who the culprit was, Ilyth figured that they would have forgotten about it all together.

Thankfully for her, they hadn't, and everything had turned out rather well for her. She planned on hunting down every single one and doing away with them slowly and painfully..hacking them into little itty bitty pieces with her two sided axe. Then..they'd find themselves in front of the Spider Queen in the abyss and have to live for all eternity in complete agony for messing with her. Now that would be fitting justice for such a loathsome bunch of slavers.

Ilythara eyed the alleyway again, and slid the futon mattress aside with her axe. A most happy sight meet her eyes; a very horrified face of a small male dressed in slaver's clothing.

"Why hello there..ready to die miserable wretch?" She asked in a low menacing tone.

The male shivered in horror and backed away from her as far as he could, holding out a dagger in front of him in an attempt to fend her away from him. Ilythara laughed deep and long, and threw the mattress out into the alleyway and knocked the dagger out of his hand with one deft swing of her axe.

"A little dagger like that isn't going to help you any against me, vermin!" She cackled evilly.

Before he could say or do anything Ilythara reached in with one large meaty hand, gripped his throat and pulled him out of the dumpster and threw him over her head. He sailed through the air with a yelp of surprise and landed on the futon mattress where he bounced a few times until he came to a stop. Ilyth was on top of him almost immediately and before he could try and get away or fight her, she had his ankles and wrists tied and a knee on his chest holding him down to the mattress.

"Now.." she said, and licked the side of her axe with a rather evil glint in her rust colored eyes. "How to kill you."

User ImageMal’tyrr was less than impressed with her latest job. She had been sent to kill a merchant that had been cheating people out of their money. Apparently, he had annoyed the wrong person. She had expected him to show some spine when she came to call. He had been a coward though and no worth drawing her swords for. She had snapped his neck with only a little difficulty. He had been rather hefty. The job had been so far below her skill level that it felt a bit insulting that she had been used to kill him.

It meant though that here she was walking down some dirty alleyway feet placed rather carefully to avoid any unpleasant surprises. She snorted irritated and thankful for the veil that covered her lower face. It at least made sure that she need not be assaulted by the smell of the alleyway even if she was forced to walk here. Her wine red eyes narrowed as she heard sounds ahead. It seemed as though she may have come upon a scuffle of some kind. It seemed to be directly in her path.

Mal touched her hands lightly to the hilts of her blades that rested against her lower back in the strange harness she had commissioned for them. She slowed her movements reaching up one hand to tap lightly against her hat to make sure it was firmly on her head. It would be more than a little painful if it fell off at an inconvenient moment. It did seem that today was going to be one of those days and the thought just irritated her more.

Mal’tyrr smoothly moved closer to the sounds she had heard eyes alighting upon two figures in the alleyway. It appeared a female had a male pinned to the ground a rather large axe in her hand. This was none of her business and Mal straightened walking forward lithely eyes flickering only once over the pair. Seemed that the male was going to be having a very bad day at this rate. Drow fought drow all the time, that was the way of the Underdark. If you were too weak to survive then that was your own problem. She didn’t go looking for trouble. If it came to her though then she was not averse to removing all and any danger permanently.

She didn’t take any particular pleasure in killing, but had no problem with it either being rather efficient at her job. So really watching people die was nothing new or shocking to her. She did dislike getting blood on herself though. Tidy kills were the preferred way. She hated all the mess that a lot of people caused when killing another. She could see how for some it might be necessary and all, but personally she would kill her target as quickly and simply as possible. Unless they irritated her somehow and then she might not object quite so much to all the blood and mess.

The assassin seemed to barely flicker an eyelid as she moved to just walk past the two drow on the ground. It seemed like it was pretty much sorted out and it was nothing to do with her after all.

Ilythara grinned maliciously into the male's face, leaned forward her eyes narrowing dangerously.
"I know..I'll kill you slowly, by cutting you into little bitty pieces and strewn them all over the underdark for the rats to ingest! Really, you aren't suited for much good save for rat fodder."

The male's face went pale at her words and by all appearances had given up on escaping her ropes and her plans for him. Ilyth smiled triumphantly down at him, pulled her axe back and was prepared to cut a small chunk out of his side when she heard footsteps shuffle by behind her. She frowned, and looked up to see a strangely dressed female with two swords strapped to her back shuffle past them.

"There wasn't another direction you could have taken? You damn well saw us here..and saw that I was busy dealing with him. Didn't anyone ever teach you to let allow other drow to deal with their killings without interrupting them?" Ilyth shot at the female's back with a scoff and a very deep set frown on her face.

Mal’tyrr near rolled her eyes at the way the female was threatening the male. She should just kill him and be done with it. It wasn’t like threatening him would make that much difference to his end state anyway. He was going to be dead soon enough. It would be more shocking for him to experience being cut up without warning than to tell him what she was going to do. The assassin had very definite views on how killing people should go and could be more than a little arrogant in her belief that her way was the only way.

She continued walking past the two drow not even bothering to walk softly. The sound of a female voice had Mal turning ruby eyes narrowing. It was the only sign that she was even acknowledging the other female. The words the female spoke brought a flash of anger to Mal’tyrr’s gaze. What was visible of her face though remained totally calm. She took in the look on the female’s face and quirked one pale brow before speaking her voice cool and holding a slight note of disdain.

“There was no other route that would not have taken me out of my way and wasted more of my time than I already have. Whilst you may have time to spare, mine is worth too much to use on frivolous activities.” Her lips thinned slightly under her veil as she thought of the job she had just had. “I of course saw you, that was after I heard you though. You were making enough noise for anyone to think you were fighting an army not attacking a single weaponless drow.” Mal’s sharp gaze missed nothing as she raked it over the two drow. “I have been taught many things like it is rather common to play around in alleyways. Seems you missed that lesson and from the looks of it that wasn’t the only one you missed.” The assassin brushed a hand down her trousers as though trying to rub off dirt. She tilted her head slightly eyes holding a hint of challenge. There was no way she would allow anyone to speak to her like this female had, her pride wouldn’t let her continue on and ignore the other’s words.

Ilythara wasn't surprised when the drowess turned and let in on her. She had after all riled her up. Most drow couldn't hold their tempers very well.
"You're not any better than I am so don't go playing the snooty upstart, miss." Ilyth retorted folding her arms across her chest. "If I had somewhere to take the damn fellow to for a proper sacrifice I would. When one has no home..one uses what she can."

Ilyth's eyes took in the assassin from top to bottom, stopping only to take in the female's double swords once more. And then she took another glance at the female's shape..noting she was rather shapely and well fit. Definitely someone who would be good in bed.

"Excuse me?" She asked clearly affronted by the assassin's last words. "What gives you the right to judge me you silly spoiled child? I've been fighting and killing before you were even born!" Ilythara stormed, getting to her feet and advancing towards the assassin her eyes ablaze with anger.

Mal arched one elegant brow,

“No better than you? That is a matter of opinion.” Her gaze remained cool with but a flicker of fire in her wine dark gaze. So this female was houseless… made sense. She didn’t carry herself with the arrogance the assassin normally attributed to those who belonged to houses. She knew she herself held a certain arrogance in her bearing. Mal stood appearing at ease, but ready at a moment to move, it paid in her line of work to be aware.

The assassin could feel the other’s gaze on her and stood straighter beneath it. She had nothing to hide her clothing not the most concealing of garb top revealing V’s of her flesh to the air. Mal had no worry that she would be injured despite her lack of any armour, she was an assassin and they were trained to move. Her fighting style was fast and used her entire body. Speed was essential especially if going up against a warrior, as there would be a need to run away at some point. There was no use an assassin fighting a trained warrior head on. Stealth was needed. Her own eyes took in the female noting the axe and the armour the other wore. She would be something to reckon with in a fight, but Mal’tyrr with her usual arrogance was certain she could take the other if it really came down to it. The actual outcome in a close range fight would probably be a lot less favourable to Mal than she thought.

Her attention that had been taken with trying to gauge the female before her snapped back to alertness as the warrior got to her feet. Mal was tensing bending ever so slightly hands sliding to the base of her spine and curling around the blades that hung on her back. Her eyes were narrowed now a hint of ice to them, “You take another step towards me and we will see how much longer you will be fighting and killing than me.” Her voice was soft, but the threat was not lessened by this. “Judge you? I wouldn’t have even bothered to speak to you if you had not spoken out of turn.” Her voice had turned dismissive of the female before her, but she was very obviously alert for the slightest movement every muscle coiled and ready to spring into action if necessary.

She absently noted she could hear what sounded like other’s were approaching their position, but she was too focused on the possible threat before her to real pay that much attention. She was confident that if it came down to it she could deal with whoever was coming closer as well. Mal’tyrr definitely did not lack for confidence in her abilities.

Ilyth's eyes narrowed into slender slits and her anger grew at the other female's uppity manner.

"And who says your opinion is any better than mine?" Ilyth retorted angrily. "If perhaps you had a slew of body doubles who agreed with you perhaps your opinion would actually matter." She sneered back.

She rolled her eyes at the other's words in regards to coming closer. "Please, you might think you have fast blades, but you're way too sure of yourself. If the Goddess wills it, you can very easily die by my axe, and then what will you do with that arrogance of yours? Lolth's not going to show you much favor and bring you back to life, like she did for me."

Though she hadn't liked the other's tone or arrogance, she wasn't about to cause any unnecessary blood shed, so Ilyth stood were she was. She paused and frowned when the sound of footsteps filtered into her hearing. She waved the assassin away with a gesture of impatience and turned around to try and figure out where the sound had come from.

"Just go. You needn't be pulled into any problems of mine, since you're so far above alley way work." Ilyth shot at the assassin over her shoulder.

Mal quirked one pale brow at the female’s words,

“Body doubles?” Her voice was disbelieving and more than a little bemused. She shook her head feeling the cool touch of the jewellery she wore attached to her hat and ear. It was but another show of arrogance in a manner of speaking. She was confident that no one would ever be able to come close enough to yank on the golden chains and injure her. It also gave a little something to her appearance she thought.

Mal did not move a muscle still ready to spring into action wine dark eyes narrowing and voice coming out in a low and even tone that could almost be called pleasant, except for what she was saying. “It does not matter if you swing that axe if you are already dead before it can fall. Speed can win a battle more surely than strength or even skill. Do not underestimate me.” Mal had to admit to a moment of interest at hearing that the female before her had been brought back to life. She wondered what had happened to the other. Mal’s head tilted to the side the footsteps coming closer. It didn’t sound like they belonged to only one person either. She might have to save her curiosity for later.

A slight frown marred what was visible of her face even as her eyes did not leave the female before her even as her spine tingled with the feeling of having someone behind her. She trusted her senses and tensed, were they with the female? The warrior’s words but moments after her thought convinced her that this was not the case.

Mal stiffened at being told by the other to leave. No one told her what to do. She could stick around if she wanted to. She straightened leaving her defensive position as the female turned her back on her. That was a sign of dismissal if she had ever seen one and it irked her. She tilted her chin expression smoothing out as she controlled the anger that pooled within her. “I do not take orders from you.” She opened her mouth to speak again only to duck spinning a foot out backwards, whilst one hand drew one of her blades smoothly.

A blade sliced through the air where she had been standing but moments before and her outstretched leg smacked into the side of a par of legs. Her attacker fell heavily on his side and Mal did not give him any time to even speak stabbing down with the sword she had drawn. A look of shock covered the drow’s face and Mal was already on her feet other sword drawn and positioned ready for any further attacks.

She found that a group of males had tried to surround her and the other female. She quirked one brow voice almost light as she spoke, “Friends of yours?” Her tone became slightly condescending, “Not very bright are they trying to sneak up on an assassin.” Her eyes darted around and she counted half a dozen attackers. If she hadn’t reacted as she had then they would have mobbed the two females, but by striking back had caused them to hesitate and evened the playing field again. Still… six would be a challenge. She was an assassin not a warrior. If this were a house, and a job, she could sneak from cover to cover and take them all out without them ever realising she was there.

It never occurred to Mal’tyrr to rely on the other female there. She couldn’t trust that the other was really on her side and this was not all some elaborate set up. No one liked assassins, but they were useful. She had killed her fair share of people and there were probably more than a few who wished her dead, of they even knew she was responsible. She was very good at her job. Discretion was very important. She had to be ready for anything.

Ilythara ignored the other's words..she well knew just how fast she was. It wasn't her problem if the rothbrained female had misjudged her. Most drow tended to do that when the first saw her. With her large size, and hefting an axe around; others tended to believe that she was slow and took her time in moving. That wasn't the least bit true. Ilyth was just as fast, if not faster than most drow. Having been brought back from death by the Spider Queen hadn't been the only blessing she had been gifted with. Her speed, accuracy and fighting style were deadly to anyone she fought against. Even magical users.

Ilythara didn't know why or how she had caught the Spider Queen's attentions or favor but she wasn't about to lose the gifts that she know possessed. Especially not the gift of being immune to magical attacks; that one was coming particularly useful to her. With it she was practically unbeatable and sure to win any fight she got pulled into.

She laughed loudly when she heard Mal's next words. "I figured as much, and I was rather counting on it." She retorted, pulling her great axe from it's sheath on her back and readied herself.

She had to admit, watching the assassin at work was rather inspiring. She imagined it was how some people felt when they watched her work..though none had ever survived to tell her if that were true. The Assassin's form was good, and she was damned quick. Ilythara shot the assassin a rather wary look when the she had finished the fellow off and turned to regard her with a rather condescending tone.

"At least my "friends" aren't as difficult at killing unlike the ones you probably lay claim to." Ilythara retorted with a dark look.

Then Ilythara lunged forward in a blur of motion towards the the nearest three slavers who were attempting to dodge away. She was so fast and lethal that she decapitated two of them with one swing of her axe. Then without slowing in the slightest she threw herself after the third, and rent him in half from face to torso the blood rage finally coming over her.

"Death to all SLAVERS!" She screamed, her eyes going dark black and her body moving even faster towards the rest of the slavers.
PostPosted: Sun Jul 12, 2009 4:48 pm

Mal arched one brow a slight hint of amusement entering her tone although it was hard to be certain.

“Doesn’t that say something for the quality of enemies I have if they are more difficult to kill? Makes me seem all important.” The assassin tensed taking a step back as the female darted forward surprised at her speed. She had expected the warrior to be slower and clumsier with that large axe in hand. She would have to be careful any fight with the other would get very fatal very fast. It might even be in her best interests to run from a direct confrontation. As she had previously noted, she was an assassin and so more suited to stealth than direct confrontation.

Mal had to quickly return her attention to the other’s that were still surrounding them neatly sidestepping an overhead slash. Really, did he think he would hit anything with such a clumsy strike? It was almost insulting. She sliced one blade through his throat even as she raised the other to block a strike. Her eyes narrowed, seems they were going for overwhelming her with numbers rather than skill. She felt the spray of the drow’s blood across her cheek and had to squint in order to avoid it getting in her eyes. She was slammed into bodily when that happened, but didn’t resist dropping her weapons and falling backwards, grabbing the front of the male’s clothing. She pushed with her feet and arms sending him flying over her his own weight working against him.

She was on her feet eyes only darting to Ilythara to see she had already dealt with her three and seemed to be coming towards Mal. The scream from the warrior was chilling and one look at her suddenly black eyes had Mal’tyrr’s instincts screaming at her to get out of the other’s way.

She was scrambling across the ground going back to her weapons all senses screaming she was in danger although the other female did seem intent on those who had attacked them. Mal’tyrr had to yank her arm from the blade she had reached for when one of her attackers went for her. The thought that she had nearly lost her arm cooled her head and she rose to her feet smashing her palm into his nose able to hear the crunch as cartilage lost the fight. He choked slightly on the blood suddenly pouring from his face. She ducked down then scooping up her weapon and slid it neatly between his ribs.

Mal then turned slightly less composed than when the fight started, blood across her features and only holding one short sword, the other lying on the ground, but still wearing her hat despite everything. Her eyes were searching for the last slaver that she had thrown over her head muscles tense and everything around her startlingly clear.

The assassin's words fell on deaf ears, Ilyth was in the zone and not paying her any mind as she finished off the last of the slavers efficiently. She did notice that the assassin could definitely hold her own, though it wasn't like they were much of a challenge. If she had heard the words Mal had spoken, she probably would have agreed to some extent. However "skilled" the slavers were, to Ilythara an enemy was an enemy and that was that.

Ilyth didn't even notice that in her mad dash towards the remaining slavers she had come straight toward the assassin. It was a good thing that at the last moment Mal backed out of the way; otherwise the two of them would have been locked in a brutal battle to the death. Ilyth's blood rage died down as the last slaver died under her double axe. She grinned with an evil look of satisfaction in her eyes.

She turned to survey the carnage, and saw that the two of them had done quite well. Though..it appeared that the assassin was looking for some lost quarry. She frowned, and eyed the area around the assassin trying to see where the slaver might have gone. When she saw, much to her dismay that the fellow she had tied up was gone, she figured out what had happened.

"I believe he's gone, with my original victim." Ilyth retorted the features of her face drawn in frustration. "Nice meeting you, thanks for the help, I'm Ilythara. I'd better get to tracking down those last two before they get too far."
PostPosted: Thu Aug 13, 2009 5:01 pm

Mal’tyrr felt her wine dark eyes widen as she looked at the area around her. She had seen death many a time and the carnage that fighting could case…yet… the damage the large axe that the other carried could do was still startling. She noticed as the female looked for her original victim and her own gaze followed that of the warrior. Her eyes narrowed with annoyance at the disappearance of the original slaver aided by the one that had escaped her blades. It felt a little like a slight on her skills that he had managed to escape her. She was an assassin and when she chose to kill then her target died, simple as that.

The assassin arched one brow tilting her head slightly as the other gave her name. She bent her head ever so slightly,

“Well met Ilythara, I am Mal’tyrr.” It was only polite after all to give your name to someone that you had fought beside. She moved smoothly towards her fallen blade even as she wiped the one already in her hand clean and sheathed it in one flowing motion. The second blade she examined a moment to check it had not taken more damage from it’s extra time on the ground. In another moment she was cleaning it and returning it to it’s sheathe as well. She turned back to the warrior wiping absently on the blood that had smudged her features. She pulled down the veil that covered her features wiping a hand across them before letting the veil move back into place.

She turned once more to Ilythara none of her motions betraying anything, but casualness. Her eyes though were focussed, “No need to run after them. You don’t know which way they went for a start.” Mal allowed her eyes to sweep across the ground a slight frown touching her before she looked up the way she had come from in fact, “They went that way.” She sent a cocky grin at the warrior although the other could not see it. “I can be quite useful and there is a slaver who I have a date with.” She started walking the way she had pointed eyes searching the area ahead, “No one escapes my blade once I have drawn it. Any I target die. So for now it seems we have a common goal.”

Ilythara paused and shrewdly eyed Mal'tyrr, she had been pretty much set on leaving and taking up after the slavers on her own; but the assassin's words gave her a chance to think it over a bit more carefully.

At least the assassin was being polite, and not lopping her head off for Ilyth's earlier remarks. Clearly the assassin was quite talented at what she did; which easily impressed her. To meet a female with such obvious control and skill was rather enlightening to Ilythara. She couldn't help but be slightly jealous, and awed by the other...reluctantly so as it was.

Ilythara was rather delighted at the turn of events. Though she normally hunted down such males by herself, a bit of help was always welcomed, especially from a female of Mal'tyrr's standing.

"Well," she began as she slide her two headed axe into it's holster. "you've already proven yourself useful, I don't see why we shouldn't finish off the others together. I've had it up to here from slavers like them. Can you believe those weaklings tried to attempt to grab me?" Ilyth snorted and rolled her eyes at the utter audacity of the slavers. "They surely found more than they bargained for when they did that." She added with an evil grin. "Lead the way, Mal'tyrr."

Mal quirked one brow tilting her head slightly looking at the other female. She was trying to imagine them grabbing the warrior. She was larger and more intimidating than Mal herself, it just seemed unbelievable that slavers would try to grab her. It showed more than the usual stupidity on the part of her attackers.

“They actually attempted to grab you?” A bemused noise left her, “I would almost feel sorry for them except that it just shows their stupidity even more.” She tilted her chin up shaking her head, “They have thankfully had enough common sense never to try and attack me before.” Her eyes returned to the ground narrowing at the marks on the ground…tracking someone who ran from her was not one of her better skills as normally there was no chance of her quarry escaping. Her lips twitched slightly beneath her veil at the thought, she was more than willing to admit that she could be a bit…arrogant.

She started to walk forwards, “This way. They are not too far ahead of us and my blades have a date to keep.” Her wine dark eyes glinted in the light, “No one escapes once they attack me.” Her gaze flickered to the other female a moment, “Make sure to keep up now.” There was a slight hint of condescension and amusement in her tone. She started to move forward faster stepping smoothly and lightly across the ground unfaltering as she walked, senses alert just in case the slavers thought to try and lay an ambush for their followers. Mal did doubt they would be thinking too clearly after the fright they had just received from the two females, but in her line of work it paid to be cautious.

An amused smile lifted the corners of Ilythara's mouth at the other's words.
"Stupidity? More along the lines of Idiocy." Ilythara returned with a derisive snort.

Then she fell silent as her eyes roved over the ground, noting the marks on the ground and deftly figuring out which way they might have gone. She followed after Mal, her eyes still roving over the ground in front of them. She disregarded the other's words, not really paying much attention to her.

She came to a stop after ten feet, staring down at the marks on the ground.
"I think you've made a mistake, they've doubled back here." She said with a frown indicating the marks on the ground with a gesture of her left hand.

Then she doubled back a few feet, and followed the marks exactly.

"it would be a good idea to learn how to track your quarry a bit better, otherwise you might end up in disfavor with whoever you work for." Ilyth told the other in a low tone as she traveled down a different alleyway, being careful not to make any noise and give herself away to the two slavers.
