Alette has always been on the smallish, slender side. Throughout her lifetime one might even say she was often borderline emaciated, but she has filled out nicely over the past year or two. Her skin is often bronzed by the amount of time she spends out and about, working odd jobs here and there, yet she has always had a naturally fair complexion. Light freckles dot across the bridge of her nose and her eyes are a bright, attentive green. Her hair is cut rather short, in a boyish fashion, and is a medley of dark brown, red, and scattered strands of blonde.
One thing is for sure, though. One would never catch Alette in a dress. She tends to wear rugged clothing that is slightly too large for her lithe frame. Pants and long-sleeved shirts tend to be her attire, as they prove to be more functional than dainty dresses. She doesn't fancy them much, anyhow.
And besides, she probably would never be able to afford luxurious clothing such as that.
Personality :
Unfortunately, she has had to mature quickly within her lifetime. Although she is still known to joke and prod at others in a rather sarcastic and almost merciless manner, one can easily see the responsibility and weight she is willing to and often has to bear. Others often see what she wants them to see, as she refuses to let her home life interfere with her productivity and every day life. She takes blows with stride and rolls with what life tosses her way.
Alette has always and will forever be a hard worker. she puts a great deal of diligence and effort into everything she does, although she is known to take on tasks she knows she can complete. She's not a particularly aggressive girl, either, unless she or those she cares about are the targets of others cruel intentions. She will defend up to a point and refuses to back down easily, but will often shy away from an all out fist fight. She is certainly not afraid to hurl insults and stands firm when she believes in something.
All in all, she tends to be a bit blunt, incredibly active, and always on the move. She is certainly an opportunist and is willing to take whatever life has to offer her, especially if it means survival.

History :
Alette was the first born of six children. Her father was a rather successful businessman who thrived on working and trading with townsfolk, while her mother was on the more delicate side. She opted to stay at home and raise the many children that they bore, which was fine, seeing as her husband made a decent enough income to support his hastily growing family.
It was shortly after their youngest son, Todd, was born that their father took to being ill. He passed away tragically early, leaving his sickly wife to tend to all six children. Alette could no longer act the child she was at a meager age of twelve. She found herself struggling to help her mother put food on the table for her siblings. Often times she had to fight for a scrap of food on the streets, but made sure her siblings were fed first. She was not above stealing what she could now and again from the market, as it was survival.
At least that was how she came to look at it.
Feral was a word that could easily suit her, but despite her ragged appearance and obvious financial troubles, her loyalty for her bothers and sisters has never faulted and she does her best to help provide for them.
Her mother, however, she was always at odds with. You see, on top of finding the older woman practically useless and unable to provide for her offspring, they met at odds over practically everything.
One of the most frequent "problems" was Alette's aberrant behavior.
Not only did she don clothing that was more suited for a young boy, but she spent an awful lot of time with another young girl at that time. A neighbor girl by the name of Samantha, or Sam as Alette called her. The two seemed inseparable, well before Alette's father passed away. Suspicions rose of their being "attracted" to one another and her irate mother was not satisfied until she caught the young, budding teenagers locking lips late one night, out behind Samantha's home.
Alette's mother, Maudette, made a point of letting Samantha's parents know of the situation and, when finances allowed it, Sam's family moved away, separating the young lovers.
After this, Maudette tried as hard as possible to keep her daughter from behaving in a "boyish" fashion, which was quite difficult. Alette spent practically every waking moment away from home, working odd jobs to supply her siblings with food and clothing.
It was because of the time often spent running about the marketplace that Alette became introduced with Bernard L'Héritier. He sold a variety of merchandise from his airship, which was a sight to behold, and seemed to be a compassionate man. Times were particularly rough and the youngster took a gamble that would ultimately shape a major portion of her life.
She tried to steal a good bit of clothing from him and was caught red handed.
In fact, he had stumbled upon her in the back of his ship, which she had so painstakingly made her way aboard undetected, with a bag half full of his merchandise. For her sake, and for that of her siblings, he did not report her to the authorities, but had her work for him to earn off what she had tried to steal.
He took pityon the obviously underfed merchant girl and it was through him that he met his lovely daughter Beatrice. She never approached the girl directly about a relationship, but often wished she had.
Alette often hung about the ship, well after her forced labor had expired, just to be near Beatrice and Bernard, to reminded her of a wealthier, older version of her own, deceased father. After a time of volunteering to do odd jobs for him, Bernard finally hired her and she worked happily up until the day he passed away. It was when Daniel came into the picture that she found herself separated from the shop and from the girl she had a crush on.
It was back to searching for work for her, and she went to it easily. Still, it was rough not having a steady income.
It was after Bernard's death and Daniel's appearance that her daemling began to manifest and, although slightly alarmed at first, Alette has grown to cherish the daemling, even if she does not fully understand what is happening to her.
Fortunately it was about this time that a modestly wealthy relative, an aunt from her father's side, stepped in. The friendly, aging woman had been unaware of the plight of her brother's children and was abhorred to hear of the predicament that they had fallen into after his death. It is because of her that Alette could even begin to consider attending Jaradin.
