The Reunion will be taking place on the campus of Jaradin College in the mid-afternoon hours. Beatrice L'Héritier and her daemon, Nyruliae, are on their way from the dorms to the library for a bit of relaxation time. Their trip is cut short, however, when the girl notices an old friend wandering around campus.

"I'm tired of studying,", Beatrice L'Héritier remarked out loud she walked along the campus.

It was mid-afternoon on Saturday. The shining sun seemed to warm Jaradin campus, giving it a happier atmosphere, and there wasn't a cloud in the sky. Given it was a weekend and there were no classes, Bee had spent the duration of the morning studying in her dorm. Now she was tired of going over histories and studying magic. She just wanted some recreational reading time for herself - some quiet time. The best place to do that would be, of course, the library.

A fuzzy figure walked along beside the girl as she made her way across the grounds. Although hard to make out, one could tell it was definitely an animal that she kept as her companion. Her daemon, Nyruliae, no less. Nyruliae was blurry when you looked at her, but there was a distinct form she had. A raccoon, Bee thought.

The daemon chuckled as they got closer to the library. Her human always did put a lot of work into her studies, and some free time would be good for her. "At least now you can relax, Beatrice," she said gently, "you deserve it after a long day of studying."

As they went about their way, both Bee and Nyruliae paid little attention to the new students that loitered about the grounds. Quite a few of them had shown up recently. Headmaster Haylen always made a point to find new kids as soon as their daemons started manifesting. The school population was definitely growing, and the students seemed to be just as diverse as their daemon counterparts. They were of little interest to the two at the moment, however. There would be time for making friends later.

"Don't worry so much."

The voice of her daemon, a creature who was part of herself, yet hardly known to her. It was a strange experience, but she was pleasantly comforted by the female voice that had intervened in her life not so long ago.

"I'll be fine. I'll be fine." She spoke aloud, though a slight hint of fatigue sneaked into her voice, to her daemon as she picked her way slowly across the expansive campus that she now called home. Students seemed to be every where, crawling out of every orifice, which made the usually solitary girl quite uncomfortable.

She could work in the shops, she could runt he streets in search of work and food, yet a simple school crowd seemed to make her skin crawl and she felt the distinct need to find someplace quiet to settle down. Even now, she felt so very out of place. The only reason she could even be here was due to her aunt, who intervened and offered to help support her siblings while she was away. Every inch of clothing she wore, now, had been bought for her by Aunt Mil, much to Alette's embarrassment. She liked to work for her own and to supply her own frivolous articles of clothing, but her aunt insisted she purchase her niece a few new sets of clothing.

She would definitely have to pay her back, one day.

The scrawny, short haired girl skirted across campus, keeping near to the sweeping trees on the campus grounds. They were beautiful things.

Life seemed to be looking up, for once.

Just when she reached the front door to the library, Beatrice heard a familiar voice.

Alette.

It couldn't be her, could it? Daniel had fired her from Bernard's shop. Beatrice herself had been sent away after that, so she couldn't have known that she would be at Jaradin. Unless...Alette didn't know she was at Jaradin. There had to be another reason she was there, then. Really, there was only one possible answer: Alette had a daemon, too.

Whirling around, Bee turned to glance in the direction her father's old employee was in. The library would have to wait - this was too important. It didn't take long to find her. Beatrice could pick Alette out of a crowd in a matter of seconds. For one thing, she was new and examined the campus with wide eyes as she took everything in. Secondly, she looked rather uncomfortable, more than likely from the new ensemble she was wearing. The merchant's daughter wasted no time after finding her friend, and without a word made a beeline straight for her.

"Alette," she called out, "Alette, over here!"

Since Beatrice was already making her way over to the short-haired girl, Nyruliae had no choice but to follow. Dark eyes gazed at the new girl. "So," the daemon said, unable to hide her amusement, "this is the girl you're always talking about. The one from your stories?" The response to her daemon's question, instead of verbally, was answered mentally: 'Yes, Nyruliae. She's the one from my stories.'

Beatrice was hesitant upon first arriving at the school. It didn't seem like she would make friends quickly. Now, she realized, that she had been wrong. Things were definitely going to be a whole lot easier now.

Alette seemed to freeze almost instantly.

Her eyes widened as she came to recognize the voice that called her name. Her initial thought was that no one ought to be calling her name, seeing as she hadn't introduced herself to anyone and she wouldn't of known any of this riffraff from her life on the streets.

That was most unlikely.

But that voice...

"Bee?" She called out almost timidly, then broke into a huge smile and turned on her heels to face where the voice had come from. It was Bee, no doubt, and now she had every reason to love attending this school.

"Beeeeeee!"

She moved quickly and enthusiastically, avoiding other students in an attempt to wade through to her old friend, the girl she had crushed on for years. It seemed Daniel had failed completely at splitting them up.

"Ooh, so this is the girl..."

"Yes, yes she is..." Alette whispered back quietly as she approached Beatrice.

Beatrice seemed to disregard everything she had learned over the years in terms of manners and first impressions. Instead of politely shaking her hand as she would have, the girl excitedly ran to her old friend and jumped into her arms. Her arms coiled around the girl, and Bee gave her the biggest hug she had ever given anyone in her entire life.

"It's so good to see you," she said after pulling away. Her demeanor had changed in an instant: going from quietly reserved to beaming and bubbly. "I never thought when Daniel...well, now you're here and...this is just so wonderful!"

Never had she thought the two of them would be reunited. After Alette was fired, Bee had thought about her constantly. She had only dreamed of their reunion, but now there they were - face to face with one another. She couldn't have asked for anything more. It was almost too good to be true!

"Likewise!"

Alette wrapped her arms about Beatrice in a hard embrace. She could hardly believe what was happening and her eyes watered slightly, tearing with happiness. It had been ages since her spirits rose this high and life seemed to be taking a constant turn for the better, what with her daemon, Aunt Mil, her going to school, and now finding her best friend.

"It's so good to see you again, Bee! Think, me being able to go to college! Daniel though he was rid of me. Shows him wrong! I can't believe we are both here!"

it was incredibly hard to keep the giddiness from rising in her voice and she seemed to twitch with excitement when she pulled away from the massive hug. A broad grin crossed her face and her eyes seemed to spark with happiness.

"So I guess that means we both have Daemons, now." Her eyes drifted over Beatrice's frame, then to the blur of a raccoon beside her.
PostPosted: Fri Jul 10, 2009 3:16 pm

Daniel. Pfft. He may have gotten rid of her from the shop, but now was an entirely different story. He had no idea that Alette was here, and even if he did, he couldn't do anything about it. Let him try and separate the two of them now!

At the mention of daemons, Bee turned and glanced down at Nyruliae.

"It looks like we do!" She smiled when she said this and pointed downward. "This is my daemon, and her name is Nyruliae. I think you'll love her. When I first got here, I used to tell her stories all about you."

The raccoon daemon gazed up at Alette and tilted her head. She studied the girl and then looked toward her human. Alette seemed like a nice girl, just as Bee had described her. "I approve, Beatrice," Nyruliae said as she moved to stand in front of Alette to get a better look at her. "You two would be cute together."

Alette grinned broadly, but was at a loss for words.

She still knew very little about daemons in general, only that she had one and that she would be attending classes to learn about them and to help her own settle in the future. It was all very interesting, yet she still had little contact with her own, save for flashes in her mind...

She did know, however, that one must not touch another's Daemon and that Nyruliae probably couldn't talk to her.

Still, it wouldn't of been polite to completely ignore her, also, right? Slightly confused, she knelt down before the raccoon shape, wishing her own daemon would start to take form, and smiled.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Nyruliae. You take good care of Bee, okay?" And with that, she stood, grinning. Things were turning out just fine, it seemed.

"It's nice to meet you, too," the daemon said with Beatrice relaying her words, "and of course I'll take care of Beatrice. She'd be lost without me, I'm afraid."

Lost without her? Oh, how true that was. Nyruliae had become a big part of her life; so much so that Bee couldn't really imagine being without her. Being without a daemon, she guessed, would be as if she were losing a part of herself. That wouldn't be good at all, only living to half of your potential.

"It's good that you're here, Alette," the merchant's daughter told her. "Now that you are, I know I have one friend for sure. It will also help having you here, just like it helps having a daemon." Turning, Bee gazed around the expanse of campus and then turned back to her friend. "Your daemon will help you too, especially as it develops more. In the meantime, would you like me to show you around? Maybe we could even request to be roommates, if you're up for it. I could ask the Headmaster!"

"She's already helped me so much... I don't even know 'er name yet, though."

Alette grew quiet for a moment, hardly realizing just how obvious it was that she missed her friend, and that she was nearly zoning out as she shifted her eyes over Beatrice's face.

Al, a voice filled her mind, coughing slightly, you're staring. She probably notices that, too.

The words of her daemon brought her back and her cheeks flushed slightly. "That'd be wonderful! I don't ezactly know my way 'round yet! And it'd be just like old times, 'cept we're at school together." She chuckled softly as she dusted off her pants and turned to face the school, itself. They, roomates, it would be great!

A sly smirk slid across her face once Alette accepted her offer. Reaching out, Bee interlocked their arms, and began on her way to show her old friend around campus. She was really going to like the school; Beatrice knew that already. Since she came from a less fortunate background, the opportunity for an education would be the chance of a lifetime.

To do it with a friend would be even better!

"Are you sure the Headmaster will let you be roommates," asked Nyruliae as she scurried along side. Bee simply shrugged. "Not exactly, but it's worth a shot. How cool would it be to share a room with Alette? She's my best friend!"

After walking for a few minutes, the merchant's daughter paused in front of an old building that had ivy crawling up along the side of the wall. "This is my dorm building! I'll show you my actual room itself, later, if you like. C'mon - we should go ask the headmaster for permission if you can be my roommate."

It was getting late, so they had to hurry. Picking up her pace, Beatrice briskly walked to the main building where Duncan's office was located. Hopefully, he would be in - if not, then they would have to come back another day.

Alette held on to Bee gladly and, for a moment, felt a small pang of sorrow. While she had the opportunity of a lifetime, for she never even began to imagine she would be able to attend school, and she had found Bee, yet her brothers and sisters were under the care of that lady...

She missed them quite suddenly, being the fierce and protective girl taht had watched over them for several years.

But she was doing this for them just as much as she was doing this for herself, something a small voice reminded her of hastily.

When we're done in school, that makes us have a better chance at a good job, so everything will be alright. Remember that. That lady-person will take good care of them. Remember how angry she was when she came? Angry that Maudette was treating her nieces and nephews like that?

A small smirk sneak across Alette's lips and she thought no more of it, and instead enjoyed the time with Bee and Nyruliae, taking in the sights of the campus.

"It's very pretty, Bee." Al commented cheerily as they passed her dorm building. All the greenery and sophistication of the place was almost overwhelming.

"Oh, I hope he will! That time I met 'im, 'e seemed quite nice."
