Several dozen four-poster beds are separated into groups of three and placed into different rooms where members live their days in the 4th division. It is expected to be kept neat and orderly and there is a corkboard in the lounge that lists notices and such.

Kougji Bushūgi

Division Four Captain

ℐourney ₦o ℳore

The light was too dim for his liking, he couldn't see an inch if front of him, and he was trying to settle in and read a good book. Deciding it was after all, too nice a day to be inside anyways, Kougji stood up in a huff and left the lounge area abruptly, leaving into the sunny day. Kougji had not been apart of the war that Seireitei had just undergone, though he knew all about it, he was on the sidelines, attending to odd ball patients as they came his way, though he was never given any serious tasks to perform, he felt somewhat slighted by the whole thing, he though he may have been more use if he himself wasn't so useless, even though his Captain continually told him differently, he viewed himself as a failure. The sun was indeed bright and he almost wanted to turn back in he wasn't found of being blinded after leaving an area where he couldn't see, it was giving him a headache. Finding a small tree, Kougji took a rather ungraceful plop up against its aged bark, book lightly hanging in hand. He let one knee rise closer to his face, hanging his forearm around it, he bowed his head down, touching his forehead to his arm, and eventually letting his eyes be covered. "I wonder what's happening. I haven't seen anyone around here lately, never even the fukutaichou is around, I can't seem to find out anything." Bringing his head back, he let it rest now against the tree, staring upwardly into the tree leaves that were providing half shade, the sunlight seemed to be sparkling through, as if it was water, it was the first thing it reminded Kougji of, though he also wondered if he had ever truly seen that before, sunlight reflecting off water, he couldn't remember the last time he had been near any significant amount.

Dozing off for a few hours, Kougji began to blink as he awoke, the book had since fallen out of his hand and was now squashed between his shifting body and the ground. He quickly moved to recover it and make sure it wasn't damaged, after all, it wasn't his book, it belonged to the lounge area, he hadn't even wondered if it was all right of him taken it outside, he was sure it was, and even so, it would make for a good bout between his superiors. Closing the book, but marking its page beforehand, Kougji stood, brushing a few green leaves from his clothing, they were still full of life, the thought they had just fallen when he was sleeping. He looked bewildered for a moment for no apparent reason, feeling a bit tired still, he decided that he had nothing else to do, so, to pass time he relaxed some more around the tree, he wanted to see if someone would come by and speak to him after all, and this was where most of division four lazed, so, he was sure he'd be getting some news sooner than soon.

[Honestly? Just, no hmpth today]

Haru Mori
Lieutenant, Fourth Division
Sereitei, Soul Society

[Enter from Ugendō]

"You're Bushūgi Kougji, aren't you...?" Haru's rather small voice drifted across the serene day as he watched the tall man from a considerable distance.

A soft breeze passed by the area and Haru's Shihakusho fluttered softly. He watched the entirety of the middle-aged-looking man and then his eyes narrowed for a moment as he scanned everything about him. Kougji was tall with a well-formed physique and looked a bit old compared to those of Hei or Hibiki. Slowly, the Fourth Division vice captain moved forwards to him and then gazed at the latter's green-hued eyes. He didn't like Kougji's appearance at all; it reminded of Haru of many things like drugs and darkness but he didn't allow himself to make anymore judgments - it was wrong to do so, after all. But he knew all too well that his own instincts were kicking on their own as Haru watched Kougji.

Haru's innocent-looking face was generally emotionless but on the small side, a not approving look was across it. "I managed to see your profile in passing whilst in the confines of the Documents Room." Haru Mori said softly, putting a hand on his chin in attempts to remember the profile of of Kougji Bushūgi. Sadly though, he remembered that he passed by the name and then read other profiles (well, Elisia's mostly).

((I didn't know how to respond properly, strangely...))

Kougji was a bit surprised to see the vice captain appear before him. He stood up as fast as he could in order to give a proper bow. "Ohayou gozaimasu! Haru Fukutaichou!" He placed one hand to his forehead in order to make sure appeared very respectful. "You, read my profile?" He asked, wondering what was going on. Kougji's voice was a bit harsh sounding, rough and unrefined, but he wasn't at all rude sounding, in fact, he was maybe overly polite, trying to make a good impression. He wanted to ask why the squad seemed so empty lately, and why he hadn't see the Captain around, he was very curious and confused, but he decided not to say anything, he thought that he may be in trouble for some unknown reason, he wanted to make sure he didn't impress and bad image about himself to this man, after all, he hadn't actually met the vice captain formally before, it was only ever in meetings that he saw him, that, and he was a newer member, only joined six months prior.

[Nothing more to be said sadly]

Haru's eyes narrowed as he watched the entirety of Kougji. He watched his actions, expressions and even his words. Haru did not like the latter at all but Kougji has not yet done anything wrong so there was logical reason to really hate him. The vice captain nodded softly as the man greeted him. He was extremely suspicious but Haru didn't mind; after all, he only saw the man from divisional meetings and nothing more. Perhaps, he was jus plainly excited to meet Haru; Haru didn't know. Kougji seemed ready to please his superiors, after all, he... Hmmm...

"Yes, I managed to pass by your profile but not thoroughly read it." Haru responded to his question. "I only see you in meetings, strangely. Where have you been?" The vice captain asked. And it was by this time when he suddenly thought of something. Fourth Division was currently empty of its divisional head position. Of course, there were many who wanted to try but no one was suitable; even as a vice captain, Haru was not suitable, too. He knew all too well he was not ready to become a division head. But... perhaps...

He gazed at Kougji.

Kougji was becoming increasingly nervous around the lieutenant, it felt like he was being scanned on account of suspicious actions. "Ah, Lieutenant, is, is everything alright?" He blurted out before Haru could ask him his question. "Ah, that, I've actually been under special training with the Captain, I've been given leave of absence for those kinds of things, uh, now that she's mentioned, where is the Captain? I haven't seen here for awhile, hope everything is alright?" Kougji looked as Haru continued to scan, he knew his appearance never get the right impression, but he hoped he wasn't being judged too much, after all, he had always been very polite and formal with all his superiors, but, seeing as this was their first formal meeting, he knew that Haru wasn't accustomed to him yet, it would take some time more before Haru would look at him with respect.

[Nothing to go on! This part needs to end quickly DXXXXXXX]

Hands down. Haru didn't like Kougji. However, the fact still remained that he went into some kind of special training with Elisia, much to Haru's oh-not-so surprise. After all, the division lieutenant had been serving the Gotei elite for a short period of time and that everything coming down upon was quite overwhelming. The case of Kougji was no surprise to him, too. Although, Haru couldn't help but feel a little bit jealous of him because of his private interaction with the former captain.

"Understood. Hakase-taicho's private trainings are beyond my jurisdiction." Haru said curtly, unable to completely pacify the jealous feeling deep inside him. The lieutenant blushed too although that was somewhat farfetched att he situation. When Kouhji began to look for her, the lieutenant snapped back into reality. "Hakase-taicho has taken an immediate leave..." Haru thought about how much information he should divulge on the lower seat. "This sudden leave marks the captain seat open. Seeing that I am the division lieutenant, the divisional tasks goes upon me. However, I have no intent on becoming the division head due to various reasons; I will pass this to a specific person with a more proper acquaintance of the former head." He put his hands under his chin and then began to think once again about the choices. Truly, the Fourth Division members at the moment are unsuited and ill-fit for the position to become the captain. None were trained enough to fit the shoes of Elisia. However...

There was Kougji. Basing from his words, Haru thought the trainings would be enough. That meant that maybe Elisia did train some suitable members in case she did leave. Of course... Of course...

Haru then stopped and then looked at Kougji's eyes. "You."

Kougji was very surprised to hear that the captain had suddenly left, he wasn't sure how to take that news. He had been training with Elisa, and now, she was gone? How could that be? Without a word? He was overly sad to hear about this, he had become rather close to the captain in terms of friendship and now she was gone, he had wondered if he should inquire any further about the matter, but his mind was suddenly attack with the most ridiculous joke he had ever heard. He couldn't contain himself when Haru stated that it should be him to take over the title as Captain, such a notion was absurd, certainly this was merely a joke in order to break the ice that he an Haru felt as they talked to each other, Kougji knew that Haru didn't approve vastly of his person, but Kougji couldn't change that. "That was a very funny idea, lieutenant, even in the midst of turmoil you are able to joke so amazingly well." Kougji placed a hand on Haru's shoulder then, and patted him. But Kougji noticed something about Haru's posture and attitude then, it wasn't a joke, Haru wasn't actually joking, he was serious, he was actually going to accept Kougji as captain of squad four, it was more than he was able to comprehend at once. "You... you can't possibly be serious about this decision can you? I mean, certainly you would be more qualified?" Kougji had never once imagined himself as a captain, lieutenant was out of the question, but captain? What illogical thinking was this on Haru's behalf? He hardly knew Kougji. "You.. you want me?" It was for a loss of words that he sounded dumb at the mouth, unable to form complete sentences at this time, though, he wasn't about to decline the offer.

Haru stared at Kougji for a moment when the man uttered something about the idea of him becoming the captain was a "funny idea." Certainly, this is also why Haru thought Kougji was somewhat not suited to become the captain. He was too comical and laid-back; the lieutenant wondered if his own idea was good on the second thoughts. Haru sighed in frustration and then gestured for Kougji again. "In these times, Bushūgi-san, I have no time to make 'jokes'." Haru said flatly at the man. Even though the lieutenant was extremely not willing to give the position at such a man, he had no choice. Haru was convinced that he was not going to become the Fourth Division captain because he was ill-fitted at such position but...

Then, the lieutenant face his back. "I am serious about this decision, Bushūgi-san." Haru said softly, looking at the sky. "Besides you and me, there are no suitable members of the Fourth Division to the captain seat. I can't be the captain due to reasons you have no right to know and that idea falls down upon your shoulders." Haru added and then began to walk away from Kougji to another destination.

He stopped and then turned to Kougji. "Well? What are you waiting for?! We're going to the First Division grounds at once to see your promotion. During these grave times, the Fourth Division must function with a captain." Haru called out to the man and then walked off to the First Division.
