"Soldiers, you probably don't know why you've been dragged out of your homes, given a double-dose of instant awake-y-ness magic, and dragged to this hangar. It's because, when you signed up to be - or were signed up to be... part of the Ley Runner's crew, you acknowledged that you would be protecting her officers.
"Well, Dremmeur Sai got himself captured by Abaddon. The Coven bailed him out and now they're returning him as a show of good faith and Desert Raiders are attacking them. Now, who here is good at ******** up Desert Raiders?"
A ragged cheer came up from the ragtag Outlander crew, full of demons of all shapes and sizes as well as humans, Drakkens, and other Outlanders.
"Exactly! We scramble in one minute! Hovercraft assignments are on the left wall A-M, right wall N-Z. Get ready!" Captain Anton Liu Jiar roared. He turned and headed to his own craft.
"Awake-y-ness magic?" Helicosto, the demon-minor engineer, laughed quietly to Anton as they walked away from the crowd.
"Not in the mood, Helicosto. If the Desert Raiders know Sai is out there, they'll bring their big guns, and even I don't want to deal with those."

Tanto, enjoying being in his true form, was not very put out by being woken up. He moved slowly, lumberingly, to the right wall to find out his hovercraft assignment.
Most of the Outlanders in his way moved as he approached. It wasn't only because he was 13 feet tall and could crush someone like a boulder; he also wore his positively gigantic claymore on his back, naked of any sheath or cover. Additionally, Tanto was known to be somewhat cruel, so they tried their best to stay on his good side.
He scanned the list silently, found his own assignment, and lumbered slowly to stand by the hovercraft he was in. His violet eyes scanned for others in his crew as he shrank down to his human form in order to make space. While he was now much smaller and weaker-looking, the others were even more intimidated: his power was still the same, and it was widely known that Tanto hated being in his human form.
He stood silently and waited.

Yarah didn't mind being woken up - not for this kind of reason. He'd remained silent as the speaker told them their objective. Once finished, he'd silently moved to check the assignments.
People never bothered with him, nor he with them. In fact, not many ever really heard him speak, and the ones who had found out quickly that it wasn't because he was shy. He never liked making trouble, but when it came at him, he made sure that his enemies learned that they should NEVER mess with him. Heh. I'm with Tanto. He'd never talked to the man, but it was bound to be an interesting mission working with him. He walked and stood close to Tanto, waiting for orders.

Tanto looked at the Demon-Minor standing next to him, analyzing the magical aura. Did he know this little Demon?
"Tanto," he said slowly. Even though his voice wasn't rumbling and deep in his human form, he still spoke rather slowly. If Yarah listened closely, he would hear some Hell-speak in Tanto's voice, but it was very soft and hard to pick out. "Do I know you, little Demon?"

Yarah looked at Tanto with a speculative gaze. "I doubt you do." Still, Tanto took the time to exchange pleasantries, so he responded, "I am Yarah." He didn't look angry or ruffled at being called "little."

Tanto nodded and went back to staring into the crowd. They were leaving soon, and Tanto suddenly realized how little he cared about the Demon next to him. He'd probably die on the next mission anyway. If he survived, then he was maybe worth meeting.
Maybe.

Edward Ridley stepped onto the hovercraft beside Yarah and Tanto. heavy hitters. This oughta be fun.
Fun like chewing thumbtacks. Demons-major always have a ton of baggage and Doctor Misanthropic there... well, his name says it all.
Because the timing for this is so fitting, Corhir.
There's always time for being a b***h, silly.
Maybe for you.

Tanto glanced down at who appeared to be his second companion. Nothing special there, but -
Double take. What was that sword? It appeared to have a Demon inside it. Interesting. While Tanto was certainly not altruistic towards other Demons, it made him instantly wary of the man next to him.
This group looked interesting, at least. He was always so dreadfully bored.

Yarah was surprised to see this new person, not that he'd actually show it on his face. I think I remember hearing about him a bit. Ridley? So he had a Demon-Major and a demonic sword fighter for teammates. This was certainly going to be an interesting mission.

As the fighters sized each other up, the Outlander Confederation's hovercraft were heading out to respond to the incident.

Yarah found himself in a familiar location - the Outlander Confederation dock where the Ley Runner was temporarily docked. That was disconcerting.
Dremmeur Sai was sitting on a crate in front of the wall Yarah exited through. "Congratulations, you've just been assigned to the crew of the Ley Runner. Where are the others?"

The only possible sign of discomfort or confusion was in Yarah's slight frown. "The others should be coming within a few minutes. They were right beside the door when I went through it." He'd noticed that neither Cassandra nor Isaac were there. I suppose the gate dropped them off at their own docking space.

"Aye. We got news from the Coven consulate about them, they've been spotted. In their jail, no less," Sai added with a wry smile. "We picked up the mana flux here about two minutes ago. Thus, me waiting here."

Tanto stepped through the wall and threw a disinterested look around. Seriously, this guy had to be thousands of years old, because so far nothing had even caused him to raise a proverbial eyebrow.
"Sai," he said with no small amount of respect. Now that was an Outlander that Tanto would be proud to work alongside. Though so far, his temporary "crew" had proved to be less meatshieldy and more useful. Especially that Ridley guy, with his efficiency. Tanto liked that.
Speaking of the rest of the team, Tanto moved away from the entrance of the portal to allow them room to come through.
