The Invite Well, now it's been a while, hasn't it? How long have you not spoken to those you know? Or is this your first time here? Very well! We simply must find you someone to chat with, dear! Do come along! Simply because it's awful being out of touch with people, I thought a little garden ball is in order. Though it's more like a Garden Party Ball. Since it's set outside and has Garden party tendencies. I couldn't choose which one I wanted to do more! So this is a note to say that you are invited to my estate for this special party. I really hope you can make it, it will be nice to chat with you, dear~ - Lady Aruru Winchesten Aruru Winchesten is the Loveletter Elf. A regular agony aunt, and a woman who adores the courts and balls. So, what better way to get to know new people then to host one big ball herself? But oh no! Aruru doesn't do things by halves, she took two things she loves and combined them together. Garden Parties and Balls. The invite you recieved will gain you access to the Winchesten Estate for this event.
The estate is large in size, though not sprawling. The gardens are lavish and house every kind of flower possible in the current humidity, going on for a few acres. The Garden Ball is being held in the west garden, which is housed next to the Grand Hall of the estate. The food and drink tables will be up on the lower balcony that connects to the gardens via a large set of stairs. While the gardens are open to be explored by all and a ballroom floor has been set up outside under a large flowered canopy, with a small orchestra at the head of it on a podium.
The dress code is formal, though that's not a strict rule. Turn up as is if need be! Remember, this is a chance to mingle with others and have fun! Rules - Be at least Semi-Literate. - Be nice to others. - Do not Godmod. - Follow ITL Shop rules, Gaia TOS and The Daisy Code. - Have fun.

The angel squirmed a little in excitement as he picked his way across what was, for now, the fairly quite are of Aruru's estate that had been ear-marked for the garden party. He couldn't remember the last time he had been to a garden party.. In fact.. He couldn't remember having ever had an invite of any kind when he stopped to think about it. So he didn't! He quiet excitement shone in his eyes, as nervous as he was.. There was only one thing that could make it all the more enticing.. Something that he had clearly seen written on the invitation when he had opened it. Tea. Pausing to smooth his robes over his shoulders and tuck a few stray strands of shining hair behind a delicate ear, he cast his eyes up.. And saw the rich bounty. He only just about managed to suppress a small squeal of glee when he saw not only pots.. But cakes.. If he hadn't already been there, he could easily have said this was heaven.. In fact it was probably better.. Now.. How to get there. Without spreading his wings and risking making a scene or worse, a mass.. He lifted his hand and nibbled thoughtfully on his thumb..

It was an interesting and enticing invitation. Arion wasn't fond of large crowds that the likely very open party or ball or what have you was likely to draw, but it was very tiresome to live his life as helter-skelter as it had been of late. Perhaps someone of interest would come. It was anyone's guess, really. Was it worth the effort to go?
Well, Arion didn't take very much to dressing up. He thought the best outfit was none at all, but he knew others had problems with this idea. Come as he was would be it then, it was something of a compromise, wasn't it? He managed to make it sound like one in his head.
He would go early as well. That way he could decide quickly if the attendees had anything of interest about them as well. If it seemed that she was drawing in the frivolous sort, he could bow out quickly while the late drama-spectacles were arriving. Those sort always came, and would draw attention away from his absence. Besides, it was courteous to be prompt, even early enough to offer last minute services if need be.
So he arrived, polished in the sense that his fur was neatly combed, body clean, and even the enigmatic clothing wrinkle-free. Polite in the sense that he arrived prompt and with well wishes waiting on his lips. Nonjudgmental in the sense that when he laid sights on another individual that had arrived he didn't turn heel and denounce the whole thing right away.
Yes, that one with the barely contained excitement.
Perhaps he was just young?
Well, Arion wouldn't account the ball as frivolous and unworthy of his time for just one creature. Even if rules of etiquette dictate he now speak to it.
"Good evening. It seems the lady is anticipating a large and lovely crowd." Arion greeted the angel, not really choosing the best possible words for his first impression.

"Oh, they're already out there?" Aruru sat on a carved dark-wood chair with plush cushions, sorting out the ribbons that held her shoes on. She wound them around each ankle and tied them nicely in a neat bow. Before turning her attention back to the servant who stood in the doorway, looking quite relieved and happy. It had been a mad scramble to get everything set out nicely. The bushes were draped with ribbon and pearl garlands, the trees held small golden lanterns containing different sorts of candles and the food. Dear lord. The kitchen had been on override since early yesterday morning and was only know setting into a comfortable pace. It had been hectic. But, the staff knew it would pay off if even one person attended the party.
"Yes. There seems to be someone else there as well." He answered with a smile. "Lady Shiayla asked that you meet her outside. She's just checking to make sure the fountains are on."
"Someone out there....already.." Aruru repeated slowly as she looked thoughtful while she adjusted the dress she wore, checking to make sure the ribbon in her hair was nicely accenting by the new feathers she had put in. She looked thoughtfully in the tall gold-leafed mirror for a second before it hit. "A GUEST!" She said in confirmation, before bounding out of the door, her skirts gathered in both hands as she ran for the gardens. Oh dear lord, she was late to her own event! What sort of hostess was she?! She sprinted across the main hall, weaving in and out of servants carrying trays full of cakes and drinks. Finally she sprinted across the grand hall and skidded to a halt just by one of the many sets of large glass-panelled doors that ran along the walls of the vast hall. She stepped out of the open doorway and into the sunshine, gleeing at how lovely the weather was being.
"Oh! Hello, dears!" She called upon spotting Gabriel and Arion. bypassing the long tables laden with delightful food and walking down a set of steps hidden by tall bushes that ran just to the side of the stone lower balcony. Her steps were hurried of coarse. What sort of hostess was she to not hurry when she was behind on time? And he looked so lovely too! Such pretty hair. She walked around the bushes and hurried over to them, smiling widely. "Welcome! I'm Aruru, it's nice of you to come, dears!" Oh yes, everyone was a dear to Aruru. That is, if you weren't Kai or Macy.
Shiayla meanwhile finally was satisfied that all the fountains had been decorated and turned on, had now made her way back to the portion of that garden that was for the actual event itself. Aruru was out already, oh lovely! She had been worried the other would be late. And...someone else. Shiayla sipped thoughtfully at her tea, placing the cup down on the saucer she carried. Tea and walking was a perfect idea. Even if she had nearly dropped the fine china set.
It was rare for Shiayla to just...settle back like this. Her son was causing trouble and she worried for his current state of mind, her job was demanding (just how many blessings and spells did she have to perform for one kingdom? They all seemed paranoid these days!). Being one of the Unicorn Preistesses wasn't as elegant and fun as she had first thought it to be...

Nathan like most babies had not been the most pleased to be forced to wear the adorable shinny black shoes with the silver buttons that went with his outfit. After ten minutes of fussing and managing to slip out of the offending objects repeatedly Illy gave up and decided his son could go in his stocking feet. Really, who was going to chaste him? He was a drow, had drogon spawn, and if his child wanted to crawl about in his socks...well Nathan was going to crawl in his socks. Otherwise, his son had been quite amiable about wearing the white dress shirt and smoky gray pants. His father had offered to baby sit, since he was not going to come to some sort of fancy party unless they had good booze and entertainment. Since the party was lacking in that department according to his father, who had everything listed that this party would lack in two college rule pages mostly listing different types of alcohol, Illy had debated before saying he wished to bring Nathan to show the baby off. It wasn’t every day the world had drow dragon spawn. Besides, Nathan wanted to be apart of the scene to. So Illy had changed him into something formalish but comfortable enough he wouldn’t fuss and dug out something clean and iron form his own clothing. His only formal wear was a dress uniform and that had been quickly rejected for a quilted shirt and good dark pants. “What do you think Nathan?” He muttered looking at the house as he walked up, baby cradle in his arm. “Pretty isn’t it?” He hummed slightly as his son shifted, tangling a small chubby fist in a loose strand of hair.

Gabriel startled fractionally, had hadn't honestly expected to be spoken to.. Certainly not quite yet, and most assuredly not whilst he was trying to work out the safest and most efficient route to the beloved source of tea.. He turned rather swiftly to the side to face the source of the voice, pale eyes rather wide and the floaty fabric of his sleeves pooling around him in quite a marvelous way he would have observed. It was a shame his feathers had puffed out in shock as well, taking away from the effect.
"Oh! Well!" He mumbled a little at first before having the sense to remove the side of his thumb from between his teeth. "I would assume that she would be, yes." He tried again with a hint of nervousness to the smile he offered. "I have heard that the balls at the palace tend to be very well attended and the Lady Winchesten is usually the life of the party there.. I should hope that it would not be any different!" He conceded, willing his feathers to lie flat once again.. Once they had been ruffled however.. Well, some of them were not as the should be, his fingers twitched a little at the itches and tickles running rampant over the double sets of feathered appendages, even as he folded his hands in-front of him.
"And there I go babbling away once again.. I do not believe that we have met before." He started, his voice at last taking on it's usual tone, almost annoying serene now he was over his initial shock, "I am Gabriel. It is a pleasure.." He gave the faun a small bow in greeting. [Phantasma] Gunner couldn't contain the amused look as he entered the grounds only a little after his partner had.. He was pretty proud of little Nathan, refusing to look good over comfort. That was his boy! At least his little sister was a lot better behaved when it came to being dressed.. Though Gunner had objected, mildly, to having her trussed up as well, he had to admit she did look very pretty and had relented at last to smarten himself up when he saw exactly who he would then be contending with for attention.
Phantasma wore a coal coloured velvety dress with dark green embellishments upon the body and silver trim to the hems to match her brother. Gunner himself had scrapped his usual attire in favour of a black shirt, though he had left the top few buttons undone, and an equally dark green suit-jacket. He had mused over wearing the collar for rebellion sake but had decided, at great length, that it probably was not a good idea overall.
He grinned down at Illmaste, resting his free hand on the small of the drows back, "Pretty? I think he's going to be much more interested in the cake bit of a tea party and ball.. Once he gets sight of the pastries I think he'll be a goner." He teased, nuzzling at the dark elfs temple, "And hopefully it will give his the strength he needs to break out of his suit!" He mused aloud as he stepped forewards to draw them both further into the grounds.
Phantasma was pretty content however settled in the crook of her fathers arm, squirming just a little to have a good look at all the pretty colours of the flowers and gurgling a little with excitement around her fingers, though she did manage to keep herself suprisingly drool-free. Gunner was proud of her.

Arion had politely turned his head while Gabriel became started and bustled about, though he didn't go so far as to apologize. He'd forgotten that part really, as he scanned the room while the angel babbled to recompose himself. He turned back in time for Gabriel's introduction, started to respond, but...
Hello dears? Arion visibly bristled a bit as Aruru made her appearance and her loud greeting. He was certainly not a deer. He was a... well, hello. This was the hostess rushing in. He made a conscious effort to rearrange his displeasure to change into a pleased and slightly surprised look as she bustled right up to them, bowing his head in silent greeting as she approached.
"Who would turn down such a pleasure and honor as your invite?" Arion gave his best appreciative-guest smile. "Though I'm afraid I may have underestimated both the event and the company."
Underestimated how... Now, Arion, stop the negativity. That was meant to be a compliment after all. Even if she has called you a deer already. Humph.
"I am Arion." And now he returned Gabriel's bow, albeit made to both him and the present elf-lady. "I'm afraid we may have arrived too soon. As fortunate as that may be for gaining our lady's attention, my apologies if it has caused any distress for you."

Illmaste pressed back into the hand, lips twitching in a half smile. "I think, he will more then likely make a mess of his shirt then break out of it." His eyes closed briefly, giving a small mutter of pleasure at the nuzzle. "It's not a suit...I'm sure I would had to included a jacket for it to be one." He leaned up to snag a quick kiss as they walk.
He had to admitt his partner looked good out of his usuall attire. Though that dark shirt kept making him itch to pull it up and run fingers over skin and the lack of collar was surprising. Phantasma dress was lovely, and if she hadn't snagged one of the flowers by the time they left...well he'll provide her with one himself. A color that would look nice in her hair.
Besides Nathan's hand in his hair...which happened often and he never actually pulled just held, his son was content just to watch things pass by with his blue eyes and remark about them in baby babble.

Aruru would have very well gone to greet Gunner, Illmaste and their children, but it was terribly rude to abandon one person for the other. She smiled at the faun, Arion, thinking him to be someone who amused her. His appearance was fun, at least and he was only one horn less then Macy. That made him doubly interesting. Aruru didn't meet many horned people, admittedly.
"I'm certainly glad you made it, I was worried people would just not turn up. That would have been very sad." She sighed, then grinned again, turning to look at Gabrielle. "Is he okay?" She asked, diverting lavender eyes back to Arion. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Arion." She curtsied. Looking thoughtful. Were they early? She flicked her gaze over to Shiayla. Certainly not. "Oh no, you're right on time. I admit I got a bit too into dressing nicely, so I was the tardy one." Seh apologised, curtsying again.
She pointed to the bushes she had just come around then. "The staircase up to the tea and cakes are there. So if you'd like some, just help yourself. The kitchen has made mountains of things, eat as much as you like." She smiled, talking to both Arion and Gabrielle, who was looking a little nervous. Oh dear. He was so pretty too! It was cute!
 "AU~NT~IE!"
Nadeshiko came crashing out of the nearby bushes, cheeks pink with exertion and chest heaving. She had, admittedly, been running away from the servants Aruru had sent to help her get dressed. She was fine as is! As long as she had her bunny toy, she was fine! Luckily, stupid-head Talon wouldn't show up here. Great-Auntie Shiayla was over there, Aruru was there with those two men... She flicked red eyes around, landing suddenly on the couple with the babies.
Ooooh! Babies!
Admittedly, Nadeshiko did not find dragons or drow at all scary. Great-uncle Murdoth was an endless source of amusement and well....what the heck was a drow? He was just like Aruru, only a different colour! She skipped over to the couple and peered at the babies, cooing. "They're so cute!" She said, smiling happily at Gunner and Illmaste.

A new body arrived upon the scene in hope of restoring a social life. You see, Raeli had been abroad, you could say, but abroad in a ghostly manner. Perhaps he was seeking something, or perhaps even achieving some kind of mystical soul-searching or enlightening or... Perhaps you should just ignore the fact that he had dissappeared for so long and not been heard from by any, including those in the human realm.
Upon recieving his invitation, Raeli had found a small thrill present itself inside him somewhere. It was something he'd dearly missed, along with the more frequent social contact. One could only be alone for so long before they went insane. This was his perfect chance to re-immerse himself into society. Unfortunately he did feel a little awkward when he first arrived at the location. There were only few people, but even few people were enough. It was the self-reminder that he'd recieved an invitation, and thus rightfully belonged here that prompted him to move further into the garden, and further away from the entrance.
He decided he might need a little practise in the arts of communication. It was a shame that he didn't see a single familiar soul present at the time, it would have made him feel a little more at ease with a conversation starter. His fragile wings twitched some at the thought that he could very well know one, if not more and forgotten them over the time he was gone. Then he couldn't help but mentally kick himself for being so pathetic now that he'd decided to fix his already pathetic life.
His first destination was the beverages. He'd found his pessemistic, nervous thoughts had managed to dry out his mouth before he even got the chance to use it.

The angel gave the faun a little nod and a gentle smile.. He wasn't trying to seem condescending.. It was just his nature.. Generally he was just a kind and quiet fellow.. Possibly sheltered as well.. But.. He shook his head to himself.
"Arion.. It is a.. Pleasure.." He replied, finding himself just a little distracted by the appearance of someone who could not be mistaken for anyone but their most kind host, "And the Lady Winchesten! My apologies for.. Well.. My mind was elsewhere!" He all but bubbled his wings twitching a little as he continued to clasp his small hands firmly in front of him.. All he needed was a nice quiet corner where he could twist himself up like a pretzle and set all of those feathers right.
"Thank you for the directions, Lady." He replied at last, gratitude written all over his pale features, "I could really use a nice cup of tea.. Maybe you could accompany me in a moment?" He offered hopefully.. He just had this feeling, no matter how simple it was to find.. Something would go wrong.. It always did! "And.. Maybe Arion as well..? I don't think that I have ever met a faun before." He offered. The other did look a tad distracted, he wasn't expecting the offer to be taken up, but it was polite to ask..
The dragon murred softly with amusement, shifting Phantasma in his arm as he folded his arm easily around his beloved waist. "It's smart.. Therefore it is going to be referred to as the cursed suit from now on.. When he's older, I'm sure he shall agree." He teased his smaller mate, knowing what a fuss theer had been when he had tried to dress their son earlier. "If you'd like we can swap. Phantasma is always as good as gold for both Mummy and Daddy.. I'll take Nathan, we can both get messy and I'll liberate.. ANd then of course it can all be my fault." He offered with a chuckle and a wink, suddenly finding himself wishing for an extra arm to sweep through his spiked hair.
He stooped a little to blow a little raspberry at Nathan then pretend to chew audibly on the childs hand, hair and all. "Ahhhmmm nahhmm nahhm!" He proclaimed amusedly, a little louder than he had intended, causing his daughter to squirm and laugh delightedly, catching hold of Gunners jacket lapels.
He mused happily as simply did it again, the hand at his lovers waist worming under the back of his quilted top to hook his thumb into the top of the drows trousers.
He was about to make another series of bizarre noises when he noticed they had.. Rather pink company! It was only that he was usually surrounded by greens and purple that he had the sense to look up, his jaw slack for just a moment in confusion. "Oh!" He straightened just a little, remembering to close his mouth, "Thank you, little-lady.. They are Phantasma and Nathan, respectively." He smiled, his arm curling slightly more protectively around his daughter as she squirmed and giggled with bleary green eyes at the pretty coloured person thing in front of her. "And to whom would we find ourselves speaking to?" He mused, in suprisingly good humour, with a little half bow..
No way was he removing his hand from Illmastes pants though.. Company be damned.

The fairy alighted atop a flower-encrusted trellis with a little huff. He'd flown pretty far for this and he was shockingly proud of himself. It was the first time he had returned to the magical realms from the human world, and he had done it all on his own! His naga companion, Surge had yawned at the idea of a garden party, opting instead to stay with his child guardian for company for the time being.. Which had left Digitalis feeling at a bit of a loose end.. It was going to be pretty boring at home, and he just hadn't been able to get the idea of how fun it could be to meet people! Sure his adopted naga of a brother was fairly fun.. But all he really wanted to do was lounge in the warmth.. And he'd had such a craving to meet new people.. Something that wasn't human or reptilian.
He took another deep breath an allowed a little smile to grace his features as he sat back on his heels on the narrow perch, reaching one hand up to tuck a large lock of shocking hair back behind his ear. He had dug out some smart bottoms for the evening.. But he had yet to find a top that was comfortable but did not restrict his delicate wings.. Funnily enough, it was harder than it looked to find such accommodating clothing in the human realm.. He felt a little under-dressed, truthfully.. But there was no chance that he would have missed this oppertunity.
He put on a bit of a braver face, and rising from his crouch, he hopped off the trellis and with a flutter of wings, alighted delicately at the edge of the.. Was it a space for.. DAncing..? He pulled a little bit of a face.. That wasn't something he'd done before.. Nor anything he thought that he wanted to try.. For now though.. People.. They seemed to be gathering.. Nearer the house for now.. Though there were a few dotted here and there.. He puzzled as to whom he should try introducing himself to first.. He was more than a little nervous. The harpy probably wasn't as bothered as she should have been, turning up as she did.. The invite had called for formal attire, not something she had.. Or wanted.. It would have given Kestrel far too much more of an excuse to try and get her to smarten up.. She gritted her teeth and bit back a most un-lady-like growl of frustration as she confidently pushed her way past a sturdy little shrub, making her way around to the back of the house. She was sure she could smell food.. Another definite appeal of attending the ball rather than spending another chilly, irritating night under the aerie with her ocd suffering friend.
Truthfully, she didn't mind Kestrel at all.. She just.. Wished she would stop trying to preen her as well! It was maddening!
She tossed her rather spiky head of hair as she rounded the corner to be met with.. Well, it was an elf, she was sure of that.. SHe just seemed so.. So.. Nice.. It was almost sickening.. She couldn't help but raise both her eyebrows slowly at that. There was nothing wrong with them being nice.. She'd been fussed by Ornella many a time when the Lord Griffin had gone away and she was nice. But thins was a whole new level.. Then there was the hairiest man she'd ever seen.. And she'd seen naked griffins before.. She lifted a hand to snerk slightly to herself before lifting a hand in greeting to the little group.
"So is it true that there will be no.. Uh.. Stronger... Beverages this evening?" She offered rather than a greeting.

"But how could we help to show up?" Arion asked, sounding a bit quieter and more vague at the lady's momentary concerns. It really was a silly concern to have, and seemed ridiculously genuine from the thing.
His gaze shifted to follow the directions. He took in a breath, not quite a sigh, but not entirely anything anticipatory either. Mountains of food waiting to be eaten. A double invitation from this skeltered individual. Arion wondered what was the least proper. Make a beeline for the food or decline?
He noted now that other guests had arrived, none that he could really claim to know, even by a white lie. He did note that one guest already seemed to be heading toward the beverages. Good, that would make them not-first.
Well. He supposed so.
"If I could achieve even a hint of being graced again with your presence, Lady Wincherstern--" yes, butcher the name either through discare for it or some odd momentary accent with an unfamiliar word, "--I would be more pleased than could be expressed." His music could express all, but that was beside the point.
He didn't quite manage to hide the slight look of impatience when the angel said he hadn't met a faun before. Still, he inclined his head slightly. Yes, he could head in that direction. If it turned out to be rude, he didn't have to eat then and there after all.
"I would be glad to gain a new friendship." Better not slight a possible ally. Who knew what this man had power in? And here what had been at least genuine-appearing smiles turned into a smile that was more obviously practiced. It was supposed to be a warm and truthful smile.
It was not. He was to busy trying not to grid his teeth together to manage something that looked entirely natural.

It was only by chance that Raeli spotted someone of vague interest. Well, they were all kind of interesting, this particular person just managed to catch his attention by accident. Probably because of his bright coloured hair. Raeli would probably always deny his interest in anything pink as soon as he saw it, but that didn't make it any less real than it was.
To be honest, something about the fairy seemed a little awkward, like he was nervous. Well that was something they had in common, but probably for different reasons. Then again, wasn't there only one reason why one would be nervous about joining others? Raeli's sudden thirst seemed to vanish almost as quick as it had appeared. That was great news for him, it was harder to engage in a discussion whilst drinking. At least to him, anyway.
He altered his course to a degree and moved toward the fairy, hoping to whatever Gods were out there that it wasn't pointless in starting a conversation with the fairy. As much as he wanted social contact, someone with unfavourable qualities was not something he would tolerate well. "Perhaps it's just me, but you appear to be a little nervous?" He started with the friendliest smile he could summon.

Miw grumbled softly, unsure what to make of this grand thing. Where she was from originally, such things did not exist. Being here made her feel self-conscious. She had read books about this sort of thing. Where the princes and princesses danced, where fair damsels met their true prince and love.
Hah! What a ruse. Such things were only in fairy tales. Although... The labyrinth was known to be a place where things were not always what they seemed. She smiled quietly, and walked down the staircase toward the gardens; it was more open there, and she could stretch her wings a little without hoping to fear of hitting someone else.
The sphinx settled down happily on a bench, more inclined to sit in the background and watch, rather then be involved. After all, it's rather hard to dance with clawed feet.
