I want to hear your opinions if he "had" to die.
Personally I don't think so because he could of just took over the world and killed Susaku and the Black Knights and not have a Zero Requiem.

Well, the non-Geassed population didn't really like him, and he knew that relations as he'd left them would crumble. Also, he was running out of options. Eventually, it'd be him killing himself or him getting assassinated... or something... sweatdrop

He definitely did have to die. He didn't want to rule the world, he wanted to create a better one. To do that, though, he had to unite the people of the world against a common enemy. He made himself the enemy of the world, so that he could be killed and the world could live in harmony.
Lelouch died as an unknown martyr, and that's the only way it could be.

The only people still loyal to Lulu were Suzaku and maybe Orange-kun even though Suzaku is unkillable the Lancelot was destroyed and so was Orange's Siegfried. Lloyd and Cecile betrayed Lulu and they probably joined the Black Knights. Who's gonna fix Britannia's Knightmares? If Lelouch did try to attack the Black Knights he wouldn't stand a chance.

Well remember some there were some Sutherlands during the ceremony like 6 of them I think. He could of just did one of those old ways of killing people by asking someone to be in a meeting with a huge area to hide Knightmares, Lelouch could either use a double ganger or himself to meet up with Susaku then order the assassination. The place with the with the throne seat would of been big enough though. Or instead of knightmares just get people and knightmares or just people like how the Black Knights made Zero follow Karen to a trap.By the way, I didn't literaly mean that Lelouch himself was gonna kill Susaku. As for the Black Knights most of the main characters from the organization were in jail, without a leader what's left of the Black Knights would just fade away. Or if the ruins of the Black Knight do take action its likely to fail because there's still like a couple of soldiers Lelouch has (like 200 maybe most of them were wiped out in the battle 3 months ago in the storyline) and Lelouch's strategies really maximized the battle's results for his side.

I don't hate the show I like it but I have to say if he were to die he died honorably. Besides he has nothing left to do, he saved the world, left zero's legacy to live on, and he made a world nunnally can live in (even though she may have thought his decisions were less than satisfying), and if word got out he was still alive a national war would break out. However the new Zero(spolier: AKA Suzaku) isn't as smart as the last one(just more athletic) and might make a few bad decisions perhaps even break out a war. Then no one would trust the new Zero. So my final decision is that he may have surrvived.

Ruling the world (or anything, really) was never what he wanted, I think you can see that with how quickly he gives up the throne when he was little. And you can't say it was just because he was a child, because he was forced to grow up already by the time he did that, so it was never what he wanted. And, Suzaku can't seem to die too easily, or how would he have survived the Lancelot exploding? @Mighty Skull King: Zero isn't making the desicions now, it's Nunna. He's just her protecter.

Lelouch did have to die, otherwise there would still be hate in that world. As Kallen said, it is better to blame a person with a name than a technology called Damocles. But that ending was just so epic and sad so some people thought he didn't have to die...

If he didnt die is plan wopuld fail and the world would lead to hate, poverty, and overall anger. Lulu had to die for the sole purpose of his goal to get the world back on track. He couldv'e not died but then he would just be a young dictator that apparently rules the world ((In which the ending I wouldve liked)). So yes, he had to die.

Lelouch at the completion of this plan had to either die or take a false identity, and make his death look believable. Assuming that those who insist Lelouch is still alive are completely wrong, Lelouch therefore had to die unless he had reworked the plan completely from the beginning or Euphy hadn't died. There may have been another way, but it would've taken a greater genius then Lelouch to find a way for things to work out as well as they did for everyone involved. He did what he thought was best for everyone involved, which means he didn't HAVE to die. He did it for Nunnally and the world, and that makes him a hero.

I know he had to die after all the things he did, but that was terrible! I think that if the Brittanians and elevens, knew what Lelouch did, they would like him as their king crying Wehn he died, I nearly died! crying It was sooo terible! gonk

i think he shouldn't have died because lelouch did every thing just to eliminate hate and plus he was like a god in my eyes.i even have the same goal as him to rid the world of hate.If the people would opened their eyes long enough to see what lelouch did maybe they would've stoped suzaku that way lelouch did not have to die.
ALL HAIL LELOUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lelouch didn't have to die and he wasn't really hated until he started to pose crude imperator. His last plan was imo failure (there must be 1st time biggrin )
