We all know them, thos shows EVERYBODY seems to do. The likes of Jesus Christ Superstar, Styx, etc.
(love those shows, btw....but so does evryone else, lolz)

MARCUS HIGH SCHOOL. They get tons of money for props and costumes. It's so ridiculous. They have plumes for every occasion. They even have props with electrical wiring in them. >:[ They ALWAYS win Area Competitions too. I suspect that they bribe the judges.

lol, that wasn't exactly what I meant. But I get what you mean, lol. We had a band like that in high school (our ultimate rivals) , except they used these giants flags to hide their footwork. But that is ok, the judges are finally figuring them out.

A few years ago, a TON of people did music from Pirates of the Caribbean. It was pretty annoying because everyone sucked at it.

hmm, 80's, Evolution of Music or whatever, some songs are overdone too, like We Will Rock You, alot of classic rock songs are WAY overdone. Almost cliche.

I LOVE PoTC music, but I agree that is was waaaaay overdone, especially right before the second movie was released. That is one show though, that if done right would be EPIC.
Alot of the shows that are overdone are excellent, which is why everyone loves them. My freshman year of high school, we did Styx and I loved it (partly because I friggin love me some Styx!) But then, I saw how many people did it and it kind of lost it's magic.

i agree with PotC. my freshman year we went to The Newton Marching Classic. We were up against two other band and BOTH of them were doing PotC.

xXTheBlackSheepXx A few years ago, a TON of people did music from Pirates of the Caribbean. It was pretty annoying because everyone sucked at it. i completely agree! my sister's marching band did that show but it was so hard to listen to because they are a band of maybe 20 members (compared to my band of 80-ish (which is still small compared to other bands ive competed against)) and it was WAY out of their league.

there aer a lot of those... but no matter how many times the phantom of the opera has been done and will be done, i still want to be in that show...
in facct i thought up a phantom show, drew out costumes for the band, gaurd, and soloists, and drew out the props.... the only thing i didnt do was write out the drill (that was in my head... and i dont have those computer programsd, or patience to do it on my own)

Mmm, yeah we all thought Marcus only got it because they had ridiculous amounts of money and awesome music and drill writers. Turns out my dad was sitting in the middle of a bunch of Marcus people at State this year and they were talking about how their director writes all the music herself. And apparently the band boosters made those awesome props out of styrofoam over a few weekends. Even the electrical one. I was surprised, but not really. They had it this year, though. You have to admit. I loved their show. Anyway, back on topic: overdone shows? James Bond. Mission Impossible. Malaguena. Pirate Shows. Shows from Musicals. Etc...
