The main lodge (also known as the messhall) is one of the most visited places on the entire campsite. Despite the cheerful sour-yellow walls and floor, the tables look sturdy enough to hide under in case any (un)natural disaster strikes. Campers gather here every morning, afternoon, and night to dine on Chef Hatchet's creations.

And if they don't like it, too bad. Ungrateful little --

On the far side of the messhall, a counter and saloon-style swing door can be seen, leading to the kitchens. It's at this counter that Chef serves the campers' meals, and there's a convenient trash can nearby in case the salad revolts again. From what campers can see of the kitchens, it looks rather... bare. There's a backdoor through the kitchens leading somewhere, but next to it are... oh gods. Are those the sock-puppets?!

At the entrance to the messhall, the door rattles and doesn't fit very well into the doorframe. It still holds, though. A thrown knife decorates the doorframe, its point buried pretty deep into the wood. One such knife could have only come from one place, and further inspection of the knife reveals that it's dull, and glued in place. Stupid props. At least it's real enough to the point that a camper would have to try cutting themselves on it or pulling it out to see that it's fake.

Quote:
Today's Menu:
Day 6:
Today's meals are not received at the counter. Rather, each seat in the messhall has a bowl, and there's some cereal inside each of them. Each bowl also has a spoon to eat it.
At breakfast time the cereal tastes like... bacon and eggs!
At lunch time the cereal tastes like... beef and rice!
At dinner time the cereal tastes like... turkey in gravy with rice and carrots!

Chris quickly made his way from the docks to the main lodge, not really offering any explanation to the campers along the way. Thankfully it wasn't too terribly far of a walk, and along the way they passed a few of the buildings the camp had to offer. They'd just have to wait until the others got here for a real tour.

"Here we are dudes!"
Chris threw open the doors, quickly stepping inside and away from the door so the campers who followed could file in.
"This is the main lodge, also known as the messhall. You'll be eating here...and I don't recommend complaining about the food dudes. Could be bad for your health...if you know what I mean."

The host lifted a paw, pointing to the little salon door in the back.
"Though that is Chef Hatchet's kitchen. It's off limits, so if you value your limbs you miiight not want to go back there."

Luna, having to be the first one to pad in, surveyed the place. Her tummy rumbled loud enough for everyone to hear. "Dude I'm starving, whats to eat?!?" she said wandering over to the counter and placing her front paws - and elbows - atop the smooth surface. She peered back around for the so called chef. "Is the Chef hawt too?" she grinned, her tail swishing up her skirt. She wasn't one for girly manners.

Carmen had followed right away. So, this was the person in charge of camp? And, what did it mean by "total drama island"? Oh! This was a drama camp! How cool was that! She always wanted to go to one of those. Maybe she'd meet a yummy famous singer and get famous herself like that Camp Rock movie. She was feeling pretty confident it could happen. This was her destiny. Why else would she be standing here peering into this mess hall.

Her eyes drifted to the swinging doors that were said to be off limits. And, why was that? Was that to keep them out of the chef's way.... or was it to hide the bodies of dead campers... campers who died from this cook's special sauce? She'd have to keep her eyes peeled for anything that looked interesting. That could be a story waiting to happen.

Billy slowly walked in and looked around. He was almost drooling at the thought of some Mountain Dew and funyuns. His parents hadn't let him have them in 3 days! He sniffed around. It didn't smell too funny so it was probably okay. He looked at the other campers who had come in that he had not yet been able to talk to. They seemed to be from all over! He only hoped that he could get along with some of them.

He took a seat at one of the tables, waiting for further instructions.

Noel just followed silently. Every step he took he seemed to gleem a little in his own charming ways. A true prince, that was Noel... sorta... if princes were in love with them selves.

He was hungry though, and really at this point didn't care what they got to eat.

The mod brit took a seat on one of the benches and just watched silently. Even though he was silent the air seemed to sparkle around him. The brit didn't need words.

Elli had perked at the mention of a messhall and a chef. She followed after Chris but not too closely. This pirate girl didn't want to appear too obedient but she didn't want to be seen as a trouble-maker. Not for the moment anyway.

Inside, she listened to Chris explain as she studied the building's interior. At the warning about food-related complaints, she flashed a smile and declared, "Won't be a problem! I got me an iron-cast stomach!"

Pirates were expected to tough it out at sea. There were no gourmet meals out there, no sirree. When Chris mentioned off limits, the smile turned into a mischievous grin, "And why be it off limits, matey?"

There was no pirate law that forbade asking, was there?

Carmen grinned. Was that pirate psychic or what! She asked just what she had been thinking about. How amazing. Carmen decided it might be good to sit with that girl. Can't go wrong being around pirates!

Now as to food, she wasn't sure. She remembered the last time she went to camp as a kid. She didn't find everything they made to be real "nutritious". She found some of it to be mostly unrecognizable as if it were any real food group. Who could eat that? Not Carmen... but her unfinished backpacking trip through Ireland had helped her to be more willing to try new things.

She went a head and got in line figuring it was best to learn what the deal was here just to go through the motions, for at least day one. She smoothed her long tresses down some more as she waited in line to find out what they'd be given for "food".

Simon staggered into the mess hall a little belatedly, head buzzing from the shock and confusion from, well... everything that was going on. He had almost become coherent back at the docks, but the blare of the megaphone had made him pass out for a couple more hours after getting a hazy glimpse of shiny hair and a small crowd of people.

One minute he'd been out at Lilac Park the Grove of the Ancients with his friends motley group of travelling companions, and now he was in a place that looked closer to a real wilderness than anywhere he'd explored in his short life long and honored wizarding career.

The LARPer sat down nervously at the mess hall table, making sure there were at least a couple seats around him so he wouldn't bump into anybody his area-of-effect spells wouldn't cause undue harm. Steepling his fingers and tapping them together, he shot a few glances around the hall and meekly asked (half-hoping he wouldn't actually be heard), "Er, there aren't any peanuts in this food, are there? I can't eat peanuts. ...Or soy. Or corn..."

He had fully expected someone to question him. It was only a shame Chef wasn't already out here to answer himself.

"Because the Chef-man doesn't like anyone trespassing in his kitchen."
At this he pointed out a rather -large- knife sticking out of a wall near the door they had just come through.
"That was thrown at the last intern who tried to get into Chef's kitchen and get some food. Luckily for them they dodge it but heh heh...I wouldn't trust yourselves to be that lucky."

He stretched a bit, still sore about his own early wakeup call.
"As for what's to eat, you'll just have to wait and see what Chef brings out dudes."

Luna sighed. She didn't want to wait. She was hungry now! Spieing two girls sitting together, she made a b-line for the RP game nerd. That was her kind of man! Wandering over, she winked at him. "So what level are ya?" she grinned as she smoothed her skirt down and took a seat next to him.

Lex sat by itself. The third would wait before deciding who to strike an alliance with. Besides, scrambling to sit with the other campers would make it look like it cared. 'Care' didn't seem to be in Lex's vocabulary- apathy was always the best option.
It shuffled around in its bag for a moment, and then pulled out a couple pills. It would probably be a bad idea to take them on an empty stomach, but throwing them up would be worse. Then again, the food couldn't possibly be any worse than school lunch, right?

Lorna stopped at the steps, looking up at the hall and that annoying obnoxious audio standing there , walking up the steps she gleared at him, having heard what he said about the food "what if one cares to survive on berries and tree bark? I wouldnt trust the food that chef makes if it was the last food on earth" Lorna said as she filed past him, sitting on the floor near a corner, closest to the door. Lorna SO needed to be the first one who left this hall, the less time spent here the better, no way did she want to be around Hatchet...she didnt want to be around Chris come to think of it but hey, hes the star of this pathetic excuse for a show so it will be a bit hard not to, the gods truely did hate her, this must be her punishment, but what did she do to deserve this?

The brit mod got up and moved to sit with Carmen and the Pirate chick. He wasn't the type to sit alone and liked attention, specially from females.

"Mind if I sit with you two ladies?" He gave the two a charming wink.

((ooc: Uh, Chobi I might have misread but I think Carmen's standing in line at the counter? XD))

Elli visibly swallowed at the sight of the knife then let out an appreciative whistle. This Chef-man, as Chris referred to him, certainly meant business. She liked that! Someday she'd be able to inspire fear the way Chef-man does. Ah, to be young and full of hopes and dreams.

This camp was either going to refine them or crush them (her Sponsor feared it will be the latter).

"Patience be a virtue I'm lucky to have!" She beamed and thumped her chest as if that proved anything. With that she got in line just behind the girl with the long hair.

At the boy's question, Elli quirked a curious brow. "It be a free world."
