I'd say vibrato and bends yet that can be just for the sake of bad habit.

I personally like tapping. I'd like to learn 8-finger tapping, but not yet... it's way out of my league.

I like to play around with scales and modes. Being able to use different modes, and switch between them, really gives me a diverse way of playing, as each sound is different from the last. I can give it a romantic sound with the Lydian scale, a wicked sound with the Dorian scale, then suddenly a sad sound with the Pentatonic. Most often I'll mix in the pentatonic with the rest of them just to get more of that rock sound out of my guitar...
Right now I'm also building my way up to 8-finger tapping. I also use a lot of hammer-ons and pull offs...

Jazz chords. They're the hugest b***h to learn, but when you have them down, you can do pretty much anything.

Slappy the Ninja Jazz chords. They're the hugest b***h to learn, but when you have them down, you can do pretty much anything. So I've heard...not something I'm willing to try tho. I wouldn't enjoy it. :/

I wouldn't enjoy it. :/I'm getting into them in my school's Jazz Band. Some of them are torturous. Like 9 chords, maj9b5, the screwy list just goes on.

It becomes really easy, but it really helps you out alot in your own songwriting. I wrote a whole song, almost, using extended chords.

As that is the same shape as a M9 on the 5th string.
EM9 Em9 E---------- B--7----7-- G--8----7-- D--6----5-- A--7----7-- E----------
I could help you with them if you need it. I've got some good fingerings for them.

Yeah, I just really hate that one shape. Minor 9's aren't too bad, though.

quick transitions between staccato and legato during scale and modal transitions. as for chords, hardest for me to get used to weren't the minor 9th's but the minor add 9th's (ex: Amadd9 e------5-------- B------5-------- G------5-------- D------9------- A------7------- E------5------- ) . wicked shape but beautiful sound.
