The rules are not yet definite. Ideas are still up in the air. I thought that it would be best for the guild users to determine these.
Should buying and selling be allowed?
Should advertising shops and other guilds be allowed? If yes, to what extent?

Hmm... interesting topics indeed. I think that we should be able to buy/sell in a contained, sane way. sweatdrop Like we all have our own shop or something. Which could also contain quests... domokun ...and advertisements. So yeah, my idea is that we all have one post for each member where we can sell items, quest, and adverise. ...unless you see a major flaw. xp (Which is likely with most of my ideas)

The guild could even have a list of shops and quests, if it grew enough, perhaps.

I don't think I have much to say on this as I erh, am not apart of the main GEN bit...
But I think it should be allowed in a very limited, tiny, out-of-the-way fashion..
From the way the guild is at the moment, there are like 6 threads <_< and if every member had a shop/selling page it would really litter the front page?
*thinks a bit*
I really honestly dont know. Either side seems the same green to me ~oO;

I think we should just make a "Shop/Sales" thread, and everyone can post their threads/shops. If it is a shop, it could be linked to the second post.

Hmmm...well wouldn't this depend on how many members we get? With the amount we have now I think it would work out fine, but if there is a drastic increase in members, then it will be a bit more difficult to manage a shop page for every member. Just thought I would offer my thoughts xd
Edit: I guess the main question I would like to pose, is what is the focus of this guild? I assume we are all here because we enjoy the G.E.N. ...but what are we as a group moving towards?

With the amount we have now I think it would work out fine, but if there is a drastic increase in members, then it will be a bit more difficult to manage a shop page for every member. To open a shop, you have to donate at least an additional 100g (more maybe?) to this guild! xd

I voted no. I mean we already have the Exchange and Marketplace to buy/sell things. I joined the Guild for conversation, not to sell/buy stuff. I'm not saying people can't mention if they're selling things somewhere, but as far as making it into another place to buy/sell, I vote no.
I also vote against Guild advertising. I mean if people want to join a guild, they will. I just kind of find it tacky to join a guild and then sit and advertise another one.
The only compromise I could see is maybe make ONE thread for buying/selling and ONE thread for adverts.

IMHO, the GEN guild is just a nice hangout place to get to know other GENers/GEN supporters. If you want to talk economics? Post in the GEN thread. If you want to sell/buy something? Go to the exchange or marketplace. I wouldn't be opposed to having 1 thread for all shops/minishops/guilds that any members have, but anything more just seems excessive and unnecessary in my opinion. *sigh* Where is a subforum feature when you need it? xd

Ok, well as long as the servers are out of sync, I might as well write up my opinion.
I voted No for both, pretty much for the same reasons other have mentioned. Advertising tends to border on spam, in my opinion, and as for selling -- why have a thread in here when we've got the whole Exchange to use? The audience here is much smaller.
I see the guild as more of a hangout/discussion area where we can do whatever silly or serious things we want, leaving the GEN thread for the background work that maintains the first page. (link reporting, etc.)
Which reminds me, I think we should have a copy of Aquafire's GEN HQ roleplaying map posted in here somewhere.
That being said, it might be useful to have one thread called "Guild Fundraising" or something, where members could set up contests, minishops, or what have you -- with the condition that some portion of the profit (or all of it) gets donated to the guild account.
