Instructions | Once Upon A Time... | How To Get Along | Who Are We? | Never Alone | The Rest of Us | Instructions Written by: Neil GaimanTouch the wooden gate in the wall you never saw before. Say “please” before you open the latch, go through, walk down the path. A red metal imp hangs from the green-painted front door, as a knocker, do not touch it; it will bite your fingers. Walk through the house. Take nothing. Eat nothing. However, if any creature tells you that it hungers, feed it. If it tells you that it is dirty, clean it. If it cries to you that it hurts, if you can, ease it’s pain.
From the back garden you will be able to see the wild wood. The deep well you walk past leads to Winter’s realm; there is another land at the bottom of it. If you turn around here, you can walk back safely; you will lose no face. I will think no less of you.
Once through the garden, you will be in the wood. The trees are old. Eyes peer from the undergrowth. Beneath a twisted oak sits an old woman. She may ask for something; give it to her. She will point the way to the castle. Inside it are three princesses. Do not trust the youngest. Walk on. In the clearing beyond the castle the twelve months sit about a fire, warming their feet, exchanging tales. They may do favors for you, if you are polite. You may pick strawberries in December’s frost. Trust the wolves, but do not tell them where you are going. The river can be crossed by the ferry. The ferry-man will take you. (The answer to his question is this: If he hands the oar to his passenger, he will be free to leave the boat. Only tell him this from a safe distance.)
If an eagle gives you a feather, keep it safe. Remember: that giants sleep too soundly, that witches are often betrayed by their appetites; dragons have one soft spot, somewhere, always; hearts can be well-hidden, and you betray them with your tongue.
Do not be jealous of your sister. Know that diamonds and roses are as uncomfortable when they tumble from one’s lips as toads and frogs: colder, too, and sharper, and they cut.
Remember your name. Do not lose hope-what you seek will be found. Trust ghosts. Trust those that you have helped to help you in their turn. Trust dreams. Trust your heart, and trust your story. When you come back, return the way you came. Favors will be returned, debts be repaid. Do not forget your manners. Do not look back. Ride the wise eagle (you shall not fall) Ride the silver fish (you will not drown) Ride the gray wolf (hold tightly to his fur).
There is a worm at the heart of the tower; that is why it will not stand.
When you reach the little house, the place your journey started, you will recognize it, although it will seem much smaller than you remember. Walk up the path, and through the garden gate you never saw before but once. And then go home. Or make a home.
Or rest.Instructions | Once Upon A Time... | How To Get Along | Who Are We? | Never Alone | The Rest of Us |

Instructions | Once Upon a Time... | How To Get Along | Who Are We? | Never Alone | The Rest of Us | Once Upon A Time.... 'Once upon a time', the well-known, first words of most fairy tails. The fairy tales everyone knows of with the fairy godmothers, witches, evil sorcerers and the like. Well, unlike most other fairy tales, this one starts out in a rural town in present day New York.
Celebrating the marvelous achievements of their son, the Roberts family announced that they were holding a party. Now, the Roberts weren't just any ordinary family: they were filthy rich. Their parties were always the most extravagant fiascoes that their small town had seen. Most of the time, only the certain few family friends and wealthy relatives were invited, but this time, half the town got an invitation. The party would take place in their mansion that sat on the outskirts of the town on the third Saturday in June. To say that the mansion was large would have been an understatement. The house itself sat atop a small hill past a long, paved driveway. There was a gate in the front, blocking out any unwanted visitors. Once past the gate, the driveway continued for a short while surrounded on each side by a large expanse of healthy, green grass, compliments of their many gardeners. The mansion had a large entrance with vines growing up either side and many windows looking out the front. Most had curtains blocking any outsider from viewing the room's contents, though there were still a few that were left open.
In the back yard, there was a large garden with what looked like a maze made out of bushes towards the back. This 'maze' was quite a distance from the mansion itself and would serve as a place of rest during the party. It was far enough away that the noisy sounds of the party barely reached it and a group of the party-goers had ended up coming there. Why they were there was different for each of them. What they didn't know was that they were about to stumble onto something big. Something that would change their lives forever. And it was just through a pair of garden gates....

Instructions | Once Upon a Time... | How To Get Along | Who Are We? | Never Alone | The Rest of Us | How To Get Along Every fairly tale is different in it's own way. This one was inspired by the writing of Neil Gaiman. He is the same author who wrote 'Stardust'. I read his short story 'Instructions', which is in the first post, and it inspired this role play.
Now, I have a few instructions of my own for anyone wishing to join. (Also known as general rules.) 1. Obviously, follow both Gaia TOS and the guild rules please and thank you. 2. Please please please try to be active! There's no way this can continue if it doesn't have active members. 3. Romance and violence are accepted and encouraged as in most role plays. And, as in most role plays, I stress that you do not take it too far. So if someone thinks you're going too far, take it as a warning and tone it down. 4. Be respectful to everyone. I hate it when people get in fights over role plays. It's rather annoying and unnecessary. 5. No Godmodding! None! I hate it! There shouldn't be too much of a problem in this role play in particular, but it is quite possible. If you have a good reason for having a fairy tale character come in later that is 'all powerful', then I may allow it. But try not to make it so they have no weaknesses at all. That just zaps the fun out of anything. 6. Post your OOC in some other form besides just regular writing such as (()) or .::. or in some way that distinguishes that it's OOC.
Now, those are the general rules. Here are some rules to follow once you start role playing:
1. First off, I must stress that NONE of the characters in this role play have read the 'Instructions', so none of them know what to do in these situations. They are posted there so that you may know what is going on in some way or another. So I am expecting that every character here will be doing something wrong quite often.(When I saw wrong, I mean they aren't following the instructions.) If you make you're character follow everything perfectly, there is a very high possibility that something will bite your head off. Maybe like a goblin or something... 2. Now, I have the plot written down for my own viewing, but I will not be sharing it with everyone. It would spoil the surprise. So expect many 'plot twists', if you will, during the story. I don't expect to be the only one adding these 'plot twists' either, so add your own! It'll make things more fun, more unexpected. I know everyone should have heard at least one fairy tale in their life, the most interesting ones are the ones with unexpected twists and turns all throughout them. Besides, I don't want to feel like I'm the only one controlling the flow of the story. 3. The characters will start out at the party in the garden. Everyone who is going to take part in the 'journey' will have to be there when they enter the gates. 4. When filling out a profile, your character is in one of the positions. You get to choose which one you want, unless they have been taken. I posted the positions in the next post, so choose which one you want and make sure to specify it in the designated spot in the profile.Instructions | Once Upon a Time... | How To Get Along | Who Are We? | Never Alone | The Rest of Us |

Instructions | Once Upon a Time... | How To Get Along | Who Are We? | Never Alone | The Rest of Us | Who Are We? There are eight distinct personalities who get sucked into the world of fairy tales. Each character in this role play will be based off of the following:
The Brain: The intelligent one. This person would have spent much of their free time studying for school or just looking up new facts. They are always looking to expand their knowledge.
The Brawn: The sporty one. This person would have competed in numerous sports in school and anywhere else. They are very fit and have rather obvious strength. They spend much of their free time training or working out.
The Dare-Devil: The brave one. This person has the courage and bravery to take on any kind of danger life will throw at them. They tend not to care how dangerous a situation is, they will simply dive into it head-on. They hardly slow down to consider situations, however, so they tend to make rash decisions. They're the type who was climbing tress before they could walk.
The Captain: The born leader. This person takes control of any group situation and sends it in the right direction. They can think about situations logically and calmly, often taking time to evaluate things before making a decision.
The Child: The quiet, shy one. Though not necessarily a child, per se, this person has a child-like mentality. They remain quiet quite often, only speaking up if spoken to or if they absolutely feel necessary. They are somewhat naive as well.
The Nurturer: The motherly one. This person always is there to help anyone, whether they are upset or just having trouble doing something. This person is rarely caught saying a mean word to anyone unless it is in another's defense. They know how to make someone feel better.
The Jerk: The annoying one. This person is the complete opposite of the Nurturer. They have trouble understanding other's feelings partially because they just don't care. They are constantly on the lookout for number one and don't who they offend.
The Jester: The sarcastic one. This person is constantly joking around. They rarely take things seriously and are always trying to make people laugh. Instructions | Once Upon a Time... | How To Get Along | Who Are We? | Never Alone | The Rest of Us |

Instructions | Once Upon A Time... | How To Get Along | Who Are We? | Never Alone | The Rest of Us | The Rest of Us
The Nurturer I'm controlled by: The_Doctors_Wife But my name is: Corina Johnson I have lived 19 years. I look like [this] I tend to be Helpful and sympathetic, Cory’s heart goes out to anyone who looks as if they need help or if they ask for help. In the past she has been called foolish as she gave to anyone who asked her for help even if it meant giving her last dollar but Cory is not nearly the fool people think her to be. She honestly enjoys helping others and would rather see them smile than have the possession for her own. Quick witted, she has a sharp tongue that she rarely shows the world only directing it at people who are rude to others and those who take pleasure in hurting people. When I was younger Cory was born the only daughter of two world class surgeons that once loved to help the world as much as she does now however money soon caught their focus and after years of doing pro bono work and helping the needy they started to work in cosmetic surgery. Despite the small personality flaws they raised her right, to always have manners and to always look out for others first. While they blindly turned their back to the suffering, her heart called out to them and she soon perused a medical career. She graduated high school at 16 she quickly enrolled in college and in two short years became a Surgical Assistant but this is only her part time job. With the time she has left, she fills with pre-med courses and volunteer work often staying much later than necessary to make sure no one is turned away. The Jerk
I'm controlled by: ShadowOfYourSmile But my name is: Cole Barrow I have lived 20 years. I look like [this] I tend to be an idiot by other people's standards. Cole is a tad self centered. Well, a tad is probably an understatement. He isn't known for selfless acts of kindness. Rather, if someone asks him for help, he just walks away without any second thought. Or he makes fun of them. Either way, he's not a very nice person. He has a bit of a temper and it can get set off fairly easily. Whether it gets set off or not depends on what kind of mood he's in. He usually ignores Shylo unless she annoys him in some way. Sometimes he'll just yell at her because he's in a bad mood even if she didn't do anything. When I was younger Cole grew up with a regular childhood. He lived with both his parents and his younger sister. He went to school normally, but was quite quiet in his elementary years. Once he got into junior high, however, his attitude took a drastic change. He began ditching school and failing classes left and right. He was a jerk to all of his classmates and got in numerous fights. He would come home with some sort of injury quite often, sometimes from his fights, sometimes from the stupid things he did. All of his teachers would tell him that he could get good grades, he just had to apply himself. But he didn't care. He went to school just barely enough to pass and graduate on time. His parents used to argue with him about his grades and his actions, but realized that it was useless. He still got in arguments with them over nothing at all when his mood was bad. Now, he works in a car maintenance shop and tries to avoid them as much as possible. The Child
I'm controlled by: Kashikoi_Ichi But my name is: Shylo Barrow I have lived 16 years. I look like [this] I tend to be shy and quiet. Confrontation has never been Shy's thing and so for the most part she tries to avoid Cole. She hates being yelled at and when she's frustrated, she doesn't really know how to express herself so most of the time she ends up in tears. You could say Shylo is a cry baby. Her thought process is very simple for the most part as she speaks whatever comes to mind, much like a child. Despite the certain amount of innocence Shy's retained at her age she still is fairly intelligent, making A's and B's in her classes until she graduated. Laugherter is like air for her, easy to come by and hard to go without. It's like a stress relieve for her, though she doesn't quite realize that; she just thinks she likes to laugh. She's realized that doing certain things makes people happy and she likes to see that expression of surprised joy on their faces. She's really skittish and scares easily. When I was younger Family life was normal, aside from constant complaints she got from her parents about acting her age, but those didn't really faze her. She's always looked up to Cole and tried not to be an annoying little sister but she's sure her attempts have failed. Sometimes she wonders if he hates her but that's not something she lets get out. School is easy for her so long as she pays attention and does the work. It's just about the only thing her parents don't harp about. She's never been invited to a party before and is looking forward to going, though she's having to sneak out to do so. The Jester
I'm controlled by: Lil_Miss_Italian But my name is: Evalina Velvet I have lived 19 years. I look like [this] I tend to be Eva is known to be a Joker, hence her little nickname. She loves to tease other and be sarcastic whenever she can. Eva has a sharp tongue and often one to answer questions first. She is a flirt at heart but it is a rough exterior so her heart with never be broken. Once her friends mess up Eva is the first one to tease them about it, she will also never let anyone live anything down. At times she can be annoying but she is mostly funny, always making a good laugh. Eva doesn't like to talk about reality and things she needs to focus on. She has a horribe temper and a short fuse, it is easy to make her mad and once she becomes mad it's hard to calm her down. When I was younger Eva was born into a very high and rich family. She was the second child of her family and the only daughter. Eva never grew up with a mother, she had died when Eva was ten. Her father constantly says that Eva is a stunning image of her mother. She had inherited the true beauty. Eva disliked it whenever her father talked about her mother. She missed her mom too much to talk about her, it only brought heartache. Eva grew closest to her older brother and that was who she learned her sarcasim from. He wasn't the greatest influence at times. Eva was her father's little girl and basically a princess. She endulged herself in the riches of their life and all its privilages. Once Eva blossumed into a busty young woman she learned the art of Seduction and flirting. Eva found that it did come in handy at times. Eva never really did any school work. She hated the idea of doing school work or working at all. Although Eva got all A's. Oh the power of cold hard cash. Eva isn't dumb though she is rather smart from the books she has read, she just doesn't like the idea of having to be serious. After she graduated, Eva had to get a real job. She didn't mind to much though, which was suprising to her father. Eva used it as an excuse to leave when she wanted. She works in a large and exspensive boutique. The Brain
I'm controlled by: Mizuki Hyuuga But my name is: Andy McNamara I have lived 17 years. I look like [this] I tend to be A bit on the talkative side, Andy won't really say anything useful, unless asked for it. He also likes spooking people, though he doesn't think it's very nice to do it to people who like it. He wants to be helpful, he's just never sure of how exactly to do so. So he's usually the one just wringing their hands or shrugging with an apologetic face. He also likes to people watch, and try to make up stories of their lives from the few minutes he's seen of them. He's gotten very good at it. He pretends to be nice, although underneath he tries to quell his more sarcastic and mean nature from those few he likes. When I was younger He grew up in a very violent home. It was because of this he started finding refuge at the local library. After a while, he became a familiar face one could find somewhere among the shelves, with his face in a book and surrounded by more. He devoured anything with text, and did very well in school, able to graduate a year early. He was the one people came to for help with their studies, and he tried tutoring, but he couldn't stand stupid people. He eventually got a part time job at the library. As soon as he could, he emancipated himself and moved out. Now he has a small site online that helps with info searchers, much like google, but more streamlined and specific. He also enjoys writing horror stories under the pseudonym Alan Brinkley, with the hit series, In the Dark. However, he still has nightmares of home, and is afraid of another encounter like the one he had a few weeks ago. The Daredevil
I'm controlled by: SexyRockstarChocolate But my name is: Jasper Bloodstone I have lived 16 years. I look like Jazz I tend to be Jazz is a self-proclaimed, "Woman without Fear". Jasper walks with a sense of pride and confidence that can come of as arrogance. Yes of course she's egotistical and well aware of it but its just aprt of her you'd either choose to accept.Constantly putting herself in high stress situations just to prove her bravery. Jasper is a tad impulsive and refuses to think before her actions which always leads her in bruises. Like a flame she continues to burn on, filled with the same spirit and courage no matter what. When I was younger Ever since her older brother Cain died in a car crash, Jasper decided that life was way to short to waste. Her motto is, "The world is coming to an end, might as well burn down with it." She lived a regular life with two parents in a normal sized townhouse. Growing up with two reporters as parents, she enjoyed their stories of adventure. She planned to live down their legacy and continue on her own journey. The Captain
I'm controlled by: The Rogue Doll But my name is: Jordan Heckly I have lived 21 years I look like [this] I tend to be calm and rational, despite my wild appearance. I listen more than I speak, but when it comes to a crucial moment, I'll take charge. I am fairly good at sensing when people need a leader. Some people see me as bossy and controlling, and a bit high strung. I am perceived as believing that nothing will get done unless I personally manage it myself. This is fairly true. When I was younger I was surrounded by a cacophony of family, mostly siblings. We were all girls, seven of us, except for the youngest who was male. We lived in a shady side of town, and when I was fifteen, my parents and older sister got kidnapped, my mother and sister raped, and all killed. Not wanting my five younger siblings to be separated, I got myself a fake ID and scammed the courts into thinking I was their cousin, and giving me custody of them. I have been working and going to school, running myself generally ragged. I sent all of my siblings and myself to martial arts and self defense classes and taught them all how to use a knife and shoot a gun. I am ever the boy(girl) scout, ever prepared. Brawn
I'm controlled by: Kashikoi_Ichi But my name is: Parker Mace Addy I have lived 23 years. I look like [this] I tend to be bluntly honest and confident. I am incapable of telling a lie. I don't really know why I've been invited to this party but it seems interesting enough. I'm a very athletic person and my favorite sport is soccer. I've never been one for sitting still so I guess you could say I've got a restless personality. I don't take well to bullies and I like to protect people; it's something my grandfather made sure I understood. Strength is for protecting and defending so that's how I use it. And sports. *Grins* When I was younger I grew up with my mother during the school year and my grandfather in the summers. My mom's a single mother and I'm an only child. Mom's an advocate for battered women and children and she's helped to instill my sense of justice. Grandpa was my second favorite person in the world, preceded only by mom. He's the one who taught me how to defend myself. If it hadn't been for him I likely would have ended up a bully.
School was never my favorite place to be, though I managed to pulled grades good enough to graduate and get into a local college. I've come home for a break from school and was invited to the party. I'm looking forward to seeing if there's anyone I know. Instructions | Once Upon A Time... | How To Get Along | Who Are We? | Never Alone | The Rest of Us |

The party was in full swing by 10 am. The Robert's always did believe in the saying 'the early bird gets the worm', after all. The party was filled with any and every sort of thing a party could possibly have, including multiple bands, a chocolate fountain, and many others. No matter how many people thought that these things were a bit extravagant for a graduation party, the Roberts always insisted that they were necessary. Most of the party was in the backyard, though the house was left open to the public. The hosts said that it was open to everyone even though many of the rooms remained locked. Even from inside the house the party was still audible. The band had a strong system of amps that beat the steady sound of the bass throughout the large yard. There was a long buffet style table that stretched away from the house and through the grass. It was filled with all the foods one could imagine, including desserts, foreign food(the Roberts insisted that everyone would feel welcome at their party), and snacks. The plates and napkins were all custom made with the Robert's family crest on them with some other intricate designs. They almost looked too fancy to spoil with food. The band had it's own stage over near the corner of the back end of the house. In front of them was a large, empty area for people to listen or dance, though why anyone would want to sit that close to them, who knew. Their music was loud enough for people in other states to hear it. The only place that seemed to dampen the noise was in the garden towards the back. It had a lovely entrance, marked by a tall wall-like shrubbery that had a gate-like break towards the center. There were beautiful flowers growing around the bushes and over the shrub. Inside there were many other bushes, flowers, and plants. Some looked almost exotic while others looked like something one would find in a professional botanical garden.

Holding his hand up above his eyes to shield them from the morning sun, Cole stood just next to the Robert's house. No, mansion. That place was definitely too large to be called anything short of palace, actually. He couldn't understand why anyone would need that much room for a family of three. It was ridiculous. Or perhaps that was just jealousy talking. Cole would have loved to move into a house so large that he wouldn't have to worry about running into any of it's members around every turn. He wanted to get his own apartment for some time, but, with the income he made, he wouldn't be able to afford it alone. Perhaps if he roomed with someone else, but everyone he knew either had their own apartment already or didn't want to move out. Or were just searching for excuses not to move in with him. They were smart enough to know that he would not be the most pleasant of roommates.
He reluctantly stepped away from his spot, leaving a slight indent in the grass from where his black convers had been. He looked about as he walked, taking in everything that the Robert's had put out for their guests. Honestly, he didn't know the kid at all and was sure he wouldn't care for him if he met him, he just came for the free food and entertainment. In fact, he could only figure that the Robert's just went through the phone book and sent invitations to anyone who lived within a twenty mile radius of them. In all honesty, he was also there out of curiosity. He had always wondered what was behind the large gates whenever he passed the place, however few times that may be. The entire place was fenced off, probably to keep burglars away. It still seemed suspicious, though....

Because of her petite frame it was easy to hide behind one of the bushs and watch all the mill about. Watching was one of her favorite things to do; you could learn so much about a person by the way they moved though this wasn't necessarily the reason she like watching them. It was fun to do and only occasionally would Mother get onto her about staring and how rude it was.
Her bangs fell into her eyes and she left them their, deciding she'd done enough staring. It was odd but Shylo could have sworn her big brother was going to be there tonight but she supposed it wasn't a big deal. There would be other opportunities to learn more about him. But it did mean her sneaking out of her second floor bedroom had been for nothing. She wouldn't have been surprised if her clothes still had some dirt on them from when she'd fallen that last couple of feet from the tree right next to the house and then to the ground. Oh well. It wasn't like she was hurt and besides, as long as Mother and Father didn't find out about it she guessed it didn't really matter. Sometimes it was tiring how much they treated her like a kid but there wasn't really much she could do about it, after all, she wasn't the best at hiding her nature or her emotions, even if she'd tried to follow Big Brothers example. He always looked annoyed or bored when she was around. That probably should have hurt but Shy wasn't into self-anaylsis so she wasn't going to think about that anymore.
A wet nose pressed against the back of her knee, just under the hem of her denim skirt. She jumped a bit and when she saw the tall grey wimeriner standing beside her she laughed and knelt to pet it. She loved dogs. It wasn't a surprise the...what were there names....had such a pretty animal. The house was huge and so was the rest of the place she'd seen. Shy couldn't imagine living in a place so big unless there was someone in every room. It would be too quiet and Shy liked noise, it was why she always had her iPod with her.
A few of the adults in the area gave her strange looks and she could tell the were talking about her even though they raised their hands to cover their mouths and hide the words. She was used to that also. It was a good thing Cole wasn't there though, otherwise he probably wouldn't have been mad at her, like always. The grey dog liked her fingers and she sat before it, allowing the animal to come closer so she could pet it better. Another laugh escaped. "Good doggie..."

Corina wasn’t quite sure why she had attended the party to begin with greatly preferring to be at the shelter helping those in need instead of smiling and catering to those with more money than sense. Of course her parents had told her more than once she needed to get out into the world and meet those to who she had no obligation but it wasn’t really part of what she enjoyed. Nevertheless she had donned a simple black dress that fell to her knees with a slit up either side to her upper thigh. Her burnt red hair hung around her shoulders in odd layers framing her face while simple open toed shoes with ribbon that twined up her long legs completed the outfit though she hadn’t the slightest idea of why she had bothered to put effort into her appearance at all. She didn’t know these people and had no real desire to.
For a great deal of time, the young woman had been wandering the grounds with little to do and saying only polite hellos to the off persons she recognized but all were little more than acquaintances and she didn’t linger and had by some way found herself examining the beautiful flowers of the gardens with envy. Her own apartment had little to furnish it despite her exceedingly wealthier parents pleas to let them by her a home or something decent instead of the little one room. Letting out a sigh, Cory stood from her kneeling position trying to decide where she should head next.
((Next post will be better, promise. Having the worst time thinking how to use this character.))

Cole had stopped in front of one of the more unhealthy buffet tables. There were many many different sweet-looking pieces of food laid across the table in some sort of artful manner. His eyes drifted from one side of the table to the other before he slowly reached out and grabbed a chocolate-covered strawberry on a stick. He stared at it for a moment before shoving the entire thing in his mouth. He chewed it off the stick before pulling what was left of the stick out of his mouth. He walked casually over to one of the many garbage cans. He had to admit the garbage cans were quite tasteful as far as garbage cans went. The Roberts had decorated them so much that they didn't even look like garbage cans anymore. In fact, he had to do a double take when he saw it before he realized what it actually. After discarding the stick, he glanced about at the people who were passing by. He recognized a few of them as having gone to his school with him. He had only graduated two years prior, so some of them were probably freshman or sophomores. The Robert's boy was a sophomore when he was in high school. He remembered because he had chosen to pick on the kid in class one day only to find out that his parents were rich. He wouldn't have cared except that the teacher seemed to be trying to suck up to his parents and scolded Cole worse than usual.
((Just so our characters aren't all going their own separate ways, I think we should either have them start heading to the garden or run into each other at least. We still need three more characters and, unless we get new members, I'll let you guys have more than one character here.))

Andy checked his memory for the umpteenth time to review the invitation he had gotten a couple days ago. As sure as he was that he had found the place, he was still iffy on the fact that he had actually been invited. He stood across the street for a few moments, and watched as people from all walks of life walked in through the gates. Shrugging to himself, he figured it was okay for him to go in too. His head swiveled as he took in the surroundings, and he found himself outside on the patio. He grabbed some finger foods and retreated to a corner. His dark eyes scanned the crowd, and fell on a tall youthful man, munching on food in front of the dessert table. Hmm, early twenties, probably lives alone, good with his hands. Maybe is named something along the lines of Aaron, or maybe Danny. Andy shrugged again, he wasn't really here to party, he just wanted to watch people. He sighed, and spotted the entrance to the grounds. Maybe someone slightly more interesting was out there.
He wandered along, tossing his garbage into what he hoped was a garbage can. On more than one occasion he thought he heard footsteps following him, but when he turned, there was nothing there. This he figured was due to the fact that he had just had another encounter with his dad just a week ago. Get a grip, he berated himself, just as he spotted a girl wandering the grounds like him. He couldn't tell if she was lost or if she was just out and about. Hmm, looks kind, maybe an elementary teacher or a vet. Names for her, possibly Sophie or perhaps Melanie. Shaking his head, he thought about going over and striking up a conversation with her. I suppose I need real human interaction every now and then, he sighed to himself.

Sighing as she wandered Cory was debating leaving when she glanced around for one last time and spotted someone just ahead of her. She hadn’t realized she had been following him but perhaps she had. Corina had a knack for inadvertently following someone even if she hadn’t meant to just because she enjoyed the company of others even if she wasn’t always willing to say hello.
Looking at him for a moment she turned away when he turned toward her and she felt guilty for the way she was acting. She probably looked like a stalker or something but she hadn’t meant to in her own mind she had just been wandering the grounds trying to waste some time before she could excuse herself without seeming rude or risk damaging her parents name since she had promised. Taking in his appearance for a moment she took a step toward him calling out softly, “Hello. Sorry if I startled you. I thought I was alone out here.”
As she spoke, her mind ran wild wondering if she could have said something stupider. People really were easier to get along with when they were on the table but she loved working with them even when they were awake. She loved helping people with all her heart but she never seemed to be able to shake the feeling she had said something ridiculous and had a hard time telling if people were laughing at or with her, but she could live with that.

Looking away for a moment to compose himself and not say something terribly rude, Andy turned back and took a step closer, flashing her a tentative grin. "Evening. Don't worry about it, I'm not that hard to startle, I just needed to get away from all those people. I thought I was all alone too. Why on earth is a lady of your caliber out here all on her lonesome?" He bit his lip suddenly, realizing he had just sounded like a stalker from one of his stories.
"I mean, you look like you belong more with the people of high society than out here in the gardens with a kid like me," was how he tried to rectify his faux pas. It still sounded creepy. For the most part though, this was probably the longest he had gone without accidentally letting something rude pass in a conversation. Must be her face, she just seems too nice to offend. "Anyways, if you don't mind my company, would you prefer an escort through the grounds, or would you rather go back to the party?" He gestured his arm behind him the way he had come, and inclined his to the side in curiosity. She seems just as nervous in company as me, he thought with a small grin.
Honestly, though, he much preferred the online persona's of people to their real selves. They said things truthfully, and without the actual voice, you couldn't hear the sneer undertone, or the exact intonation of a word. He could also be his true self online, and he actually had a backbone enough to yell at people who annoyed him. But perhaps, for the sake of this lady, he would try to keep his natural tendencies of being obnoxious in check.
