Almost every guitar nd sax player in my class r show-offs!! I'm not saying everyone who plays them r just the ones in my class. Every day in every song they do solos and SHOW-OFF!!! Anyone have ppl like that int theyre band?

XD You do not even know! The percussionists. They all gather round the drum set after class and show off. The kid who plays bass guitar in pep band and jazz band shows off with them.
I play electric guitar, and I'm pretty darn good, but not ONCE have I shown off.

Guilty as charged.
Yesterday I job-shadowed my band director, and so he had 7th and 6th grade and since I'm an amazing trombone player, and the only person to make 3 honor bands, I went to the 6th grade class and just started showing off.
They were allowed to work on their solos, and I played Great Locomotive Chase and the foul-mouthed baritone player was like surprised

One of the boys in my section. He wants to play every single solo going, including taking ones from the trumpets. I've got anothing against ambition, but it jsut bugs me that he shows off all the time playing solos taking all this credit but he can't play as part of the ensemble to save his life. He plays his part far too loudly, making it nearly impossible for us on the other parts to, he improvises and adds glisses and slurs to everything even if it sounds absoloutly awful and he stops playing all the time because he needs to "save his lip for his solos" when the rest of us play solos, play a more difficult part than he does and play the whole way through a concert no problem. Hes an annoying, selfish little show off...and I hate him. stare

>_< Indeed. They have two solos this year[1: The Wild Westerns!. 2: Pictures at an Exhibiton]! D:< And I only have ONE special part with a Bari sax.
Saxophones can be show off too, especially in Jazz band. neutral Especially my friend Lauren who has a solo in Besame Mucho.
Tubas should have more solos. ;~; [I really wanted to ask my BD if we could play "An American in Paris". It has a Tuba solo, including other instrument solos, it'd be even better for 7th + 8th Grade band song.]

I agree that trumpets are show-offs. Except the ones in my class show off before class, all loud and obnoxious, so nobody else can warm up, and then play so 'wimpily'(Thank you, SL. Love the new word from sectionalsXD) because a) their chops are sooo worn out because they never practice, b) they can't play for their life because they never practice.
Because of the trumpets, we have cut one of the best songs we were supposed tp play at a festival thursday, because hardly anybody practiced.
They also think they are all cool because they have meoldy and solos, but when they have first, they never practice enough to be able to paly the melody and solos, and when they have background parts, they think it is too easy and don't practice when they need it more then the first parts.
I in no way hate trumpet players, but they are annoying show-offs that need some mental counseling.
Bwahah: I can try out a new get them to practice technique on a fellow freshman for if I become a sophmore. It should work for him: he is an idiot. i just need some candy...

haha, wow i only know 1 trumpet player that 'tries' showing off but shes aweful. And wow, not all trumpet players do show off, it depends on who it is. I Love the trumpet and i always practice. For my class its the Drummers and sometimes a tenor sax player. hahaha hes so annoying! Ha, it is fun being loud on the trumpet, specially if its around ur friends hahahaha... biggrin

i agree the trumpets are show-offs but so is our flutes there annoying
and the most show-off person i know in our band is the second chair trombone player (unforetuntly i play with him) hes a show-off and a kiss-up rolleyes

But she stopped as soon as the next year came. >.<
In fact, I don't really think she intended to do so at all.

lol mine sounds a bit like x-mas'
Last year the 2nd chair [clarinet] warmed up with random songs from the previous year since he was a year older than me & kept wanting to play along with the trumpets during their solos because he'd figured out the notes for clarinet. He also played pretty loud, so I backed off to try and balance it more. I wouldn't mind that but he & 3rd chair kept saying they never heard me play. I WONDER WHY.
lol People are saying their trumpets play too loudly, but last year the trumpets were wusses and played so softly my BD yelled at them to be louder during their solos. They're much better this year, except I think 1 or 2 of them might be show offs. oh well.
