MOD 20k Avatar Contest
So, look. I'm one stylish chick. This is fact. And I believe that we have some other modist folk who could work the runway as well. So, as part of the great MOD 20k celebration, I'll be hosting an avatar contest. Here's how it'll break down.
GUIDELINES_______________________
There is no theme. It's just all about the style.
Make the most eye-candied avatar, and you win a sealed letter and some chibi art from yours truly.
This contest is for DYBIM regs (posting since three months ago or longer in the thread).
The judges are myself and Deep Vermillion.
Judges can't enter. :3 Sorry!
No entry fee, bitches!
There is no limit to entrants, but each person can only submit one avatar.
Post a picture of your avatar in this thread. IT HAS TO BE A SAVED PICTURE. You can't just say "my avatar," because you may change, and then you'd be ******** />Gaia Dream Creator or any other simulator is allowed.
You have until DYBIM reaches page 19980 to submit an entry.
Don't bribe judges and don't be a ******** asshat if you lose.
TIPS & HINTS_________________________
Still not sure how to go about making a cool avatar? Here are some of the things I judge on.
Color coordination - if an avatar has a great color scheme, it's started out on the right foot. Experiment with combinations of colors. Look closely at items; you'd be surprised what color some items are, despite their names.
Balance and flow - if your outfit has a ton of one color in one spot and one spot only, you may want to consider spreading it out some. If there's a consistent pattern to the colors and texture of items, you have an aesthetic advantage.
Accesorize! - Accesories can make the man or woman. If you're using large blocks of color on your avatar, spice it up with belts, jewelry, hand items, hats or face items. Just make sure not to go overboard.
More expensive doesn't mean better - if you pile on a bunch of 2003 donation items or a bunch of casino items, don't expect to win on gold value alone. Put some thought into it. A devil tail doesn't give you a win.
Monochrome - sometimes, using the same color through out an avatar can be boring. For example, if you wear all black, hope the items you chose are stylish enough to stand out from the hundreds of other all black avatars. Spice up a single color scheme by using different (but matching) shades of the color, or by adding a small accent color.
Be creative - items from the same set look good together, sure, but only because they were designed to. Try a different path and use different items from different sets. You may be surprised how much they go together.
That's it. Good luck. The winner will be announced during MOD 20k.
