Just curious to see what everyone is currently playing. Please post where you're from and the piece(s) you are currently performing/working on to perform.
Much love, Band Director in less than three months!

Our BD has a thing for movie soundtracks and upbeat, thrilling, dangerous music. So we're doing the Indiana Jones, Pit and the Pendulum (there wasn't even a movie made, the poem is just so awesome that it has it's own theme song), Hieroglyphs (this weird Egyptian piece), a few other pieces like those, and a march. There isn't much variety. It gets really old really fast. And the worst part is that all the pieces are super easy except heiroglyphs, but the clarinets rest for almost half of the song.
I really like the stuff we play in Jazz Band, though. So far the pieces we've gotten are Harlem Nocturne and It Don't Mean a Thing (If it Ain't Got That Swing).

Nothing's set in stone just yet (we just had a concert last Tuesday and are now in the transitional phase), but our BD seems to be wanting to play:

Right now its looking like: Vesuvius O Magnum Mysterium A Jubilant Overture but we'll probably phase out one or two of those and play different ones for state.
For my solo piece I'm playing Prelude from Suite Bergamesque by Debussy

Congratulations for being so close to being a Band Director. :D
I don't quite remember all of our songs names. Mainly because we haven't played them in a while. But my favorite one I remember is; The walking frog.
It's a bit wacky. But it's love.

Congrats mrgreen We are playing so far: Hoosier Suite(I like this one just abit less then the other. It is reaslly fun in first clarinet, but we found out today that our flutes can't trill for their lives and so he was getting mad at both flutes and clarinets, hich was mean...) Trombone Section(Our march. Fun, but real easy.)
I seriously should have been in first period. Second period music is way too easy compared to even middle school honor band. Oh well. Hopefully next year I will be section leader, and most liekly in first period anyway.
